We've been enjoying Aff for 35 years! We're getting older, the waiters are getting younger, the ambiance is wonderful, and the food is delicious! We'd happily recommend Aff to anyone looking for a pleasant evening!

I was at the restaurant today after a long break. I was looking forward to the wild herb salad. It's strange what people in the restaurant industry mean by wild herbs. Maybe I should take a course with the chef or suggest a different name, because if I order a wild herb salad, I'd at least have some in my salad. The price is quite high accordingly. I'll let the sorrel pass, but everything else? Are they wild herbs??? 🙈 Too bad.

The name "Blauer Aff" originated in the 1930s from vacationers from the Cologne area – in the Rhineland, "Aff" means drunk. Since the half-timbered house was painted blue and all the guests were "blue," the current name was born. A truly charming origin story for a restaurant that is now considered one of the gems of the Bergstrasse. The half-timbered house offers a relaxed, authentic atmosphere both inside and outside. The exquisite wine list and the home-style cuisine with regional delicacies harmonize perfectly. The seasonal offerings are particularly noteworthy. The service is attentive and competent, and the value for money is fair. Everything is just right here: from the traditional preparation to the wine selection and the cozy atmosphere. A restaurant that proves that tradition and quality can still go hand in hand today. Highly recommended for connoisseurs with a sense of authentic hospitality.

The food was good. Unfortunately, we had a really small, dry half chicken that my son didn't want to eat. Service was always friendly, despite being very busy. The ambiance is hard to describe; you probably have to experience it for yourself.

One of the best restaurants in the area, both in terms of service and food. They have a rotating seasonal menu as well as a regular menu. From hearty home-style cooking to sophisticated and well-thought-out dishes, they offer everything. The prices are reasonable, and the selection is extensive. The ambiance is unique and very welcoming; you immediately feel at home. Everyone will find something to suit their taste. Highly recommended.

I've finally found the time to review our family-run restaurant. I've been there countless times and I look forward to eating there every time. The food is outstanding, incredibly tasty, and the portions are much larger than some other restaurants. The quality is always very good, and if something isn't as it should be, it's quickly and easily rectified without any awkward arguments. My favorite dish is the Caesar salad with strips of beef. It's actually more of a steak with salad. The staff is very young, but always very friendly, courteous, and attentive. This suggests they've been well-trained. A bit more eye contact would have been good, but that's criticism at a high level. The atmosphere in this old building is rustic to cozy. We usually sit in the courtyard, which is given a special charm by the old tree. Overall, a clear recommendation!

I had fish and salad, there was far too much balsamic vinegar in the salad so you could hardly taste the salad. There was no fish knife. Service - it was busy so the wait was a bit longer for someone to arrive, one dish arrived incorrectly but it was corrected. The coffee had cream and Hanuta but no sugar. Only when we asked were they asked how much coffee we had, and they brought us the appropriate amount of sugar. Not bad in itself, charming, left, there is space downstairs for groups of up to 6 people, too tight for wheelchair users and the women's restroom is upstairs. It is busy, reservations are recommended.

We were there on Tuesday with a small wedding party (about 15 people including one child) and were absolutely thrilled. The food was truly delicious, the staff friendly and accommodating, and we received our dishes just 15 minutes after ordering. Every time you eat there, you're seated in a different, beautiful and rustic corner that you haven't seen before. There's always something new to see! :) It was also a very hot day (37 degrees Celsius), so we were thrilled to have the air conditioning! We'll be back, as always!

The appetizer salad was solid, if not particularly creative. However, the dessert was a real highlight: a chocolate cake with a liquid center, delicious in taste and, with fresh fruit garnish, also very visually appealing. My companion was also satisfied: The salads arrived large, fresh, and beautifully presented. The prices are absolutely fair – the harmonious overall package of atmosphere, service, and quality justifies the prices. In conclusion: A thoroughly recommendable restaurant – whether with family, colleagues, or just the two of you. If you appreciate a rustic ambiance, good service, and high-quality cuisine, this is the place for you.

Wir kommen eigentlich gerne in den Aff. Für Familienfeier, Firmenfeier oder einfach nur zu zweit. Heute war ein Tiefpunkt der mich auch zu dieser Rezension drängt. Wir wurden öffentlich vom Chefkellner gemaßregelt dass wir uns an den richtigen Tisch setzen sollten. Woher wir das wissen sollten ? Wir dachten am richtigen Tisch zu sitzen ( seit fast einer Stunde ). Die Bedienung hätte uns also darauf hinweisen können. Dann aber gedemütigt zu werden, das haben wir nicht verdient. Wir kommen selbst aus der Gastro, geben gutes Trinkgeld und sind loyal und verständnisvoll. Heute sind wir sehr traurig aus dem Aff. Ohne Nachspeise und mit flauem Magen. Ob wir wiederkommen weiss ich nicht.

We made a reservation online, and it worked out perfectly—only our 45-minute traffic jam threw things off a bit! A quick call—no problem. Venison bratwurst with savoy cabbage, a superbly cooked steak, and the chocolate cake with berries—all a delight! The service was confident and attentive. We'd be happy to come back (on time). Keep it up! Parking directly at the hotel—zero, but free public parking is available within walking distance.

Actually, everything was great. The only reason I'm deducting a star is because I would appreciate a few more vegetarian dishes on the menu, and because I'm not a fan of Pfungstadt beer and would prefer a second or completely different beer.

The restaurant is located in an old, winding house, and each area is decorated slightly differently, giving it its own unique charm. The tables are rather small, so it's best for groups of 4 to 6 people... The quality of the food is very good, the staff is friendly, and the prices are fair. Even during the week, it was busy, so a reservation is definitely recommended.

Sehr zuvorkommender Service. Wir waren fast eine Stunde früher dort was überhaupt kein Problem war. Erst saßen wir im Innenhof und haben etwas getrunken und sind dann zum Essen an unseren Platz gegangen. Essen wie immer gut.

Leider nicht mehr so gut wie früher. Wir waren mit Freunden zum Abendessen und alle kamen zum Schluss, dass sich der Service und das Essen verschlechtert haben. Sehr schade.

Called based on a recommendation and was told we would find a way. When we arrived we had to wait, which wasn't a problem for us, but the service quickly brought us two drinks because we had to wait. This was a bigger problem for the service than for us, for us it was great service, we were repeatedly spoken to and told we would find a table, the waitresses were always friendly and helpful. At the table they apologized again for the waiting time. We got a delicious meal, everything fresh like we haven't had in a long time. When we were about to leave, they apologized again for the waiting time, but the waiting time was still not a problem for us. The delicious food was definitely worth the wait. Das Restaurant ist in einem Gebäude das aus 1840 stammt. Viele Sachen sind sehr alt und haben einen tollen Flair. Das Restaurant war sehr gut besucht, unbedingt vorab reservieren. Das Essen wurde schön präsentiert und hat lecker geschmeckt. Unbedingt erwähnenswert ist auch das nette Personal. WIr werden garantiert, weitere Besuche einplanen.

The food is very good, no matter when we were there - always good. The portions are large. There is often a lack of salt on the tables, which you can get on request. You have to like the decor, but it's cult and not uncomfortable. Only the parking situation deters more frequent visits, even though there are public parking spaces nearby.

Immer wieder ein Genuß. Trotz des immer sehr gut besuchten Lokals ist die Qualität und die Auswahl ungewöhnlich gut besonders weil es kein 0815 Angebot wie sonst üblich in anderen deutschen Lokalen ist sondern besonders. Sehr sehr gutes Personal immer sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Einziger Wermutstropfen ist für uns daß die Hauptspeise immer sofort auf die Vorspeise folgt statt eine kleine Pause zu machen was ja bei mehreren Gängen üblich ist. Als ich nach der Vorspeise zur Toilette musste und zurück kam stand mein Essen schon da. Mag sein dass es der Doppelbelegung aufgrund der stets ausgebuchten Tische geschuldet ist. Aber wenn ich essen gehe besonders in so einem gemütlichen Lokal und auch nicht wenig Geld dafür ausgebe dann möchte ich nicht nach nicht mal einer Stunde wieder fertig sein. Dafür besucht man ja so ein schönes Lokal gerade weil ich selbst gerne und gut koche. Aber wenn wir dann essen gehen dann wollen wir das Lokal und das Essen eben auch genießen und geht nicht in einen Fast food. Wir sind die Generation slow food.

First of all, I have to mention that we had quite high expectations of this restaurant, as it was fully booked several times on the weekend before today's visit. We also knew that we only reserved one slot from 5:30-7:00 p.m. At the beginning everything went quite normally, the drinks and appetizers were at the table quickly and tasted okay. Unfortunately, my steak was not only cooked beyond medium-rare, but also completely unevenly. I would have liked to speak to the service, but they didn't come to our table for over half an hour until it was just before 7 p.m. to tell us in no uncertain terms that we now had to pay and leave. At this point the plates were still on the table. No chance for a conversation, dessert or anything like that because the next customers were already waiting. I can't remember ever being treated like that in a restaurant. It's certainly within my imagination that an evening here could be more pleasant, but unfortunately for us the stay bordered on a total failure.

Air quality in the smoking area is unacceptable, clothes can go straight to the dry cleaners but it is one of the most beautiful places in the restaurant. Why for smokers???

We always enjoyed going to the blue monkey. However, our last visit was disappointing. We had a time slot of 1.45 hours. I find these slots strange, but I consciously accepted them for this evening. Now I have to ask myself what position the guest has if we want to order espresso at 7:30 p.m. and are asked if we can do it by 7:45 p.m. Please how???? To say the least, this is a disgrace and shows where you stand as a guest. Namely, come, eat, pay and get out. The food at the Blauer Aff is good, not outstanding. If you're still treated like that, well. And fortunately we have the freedom to say: future visits? No thanks.

Very nice and good restaurant with a small and very good selection of dishes at fair prices. The selection of open wines is sufficient (for me ;-) and good. A look into the kitchen from the hallway is possible and creates trust. The service was quick and very good; special requests and changes were addressed promptly and in a friendly manner. The portions were more than sufficient, tasty and visually well presented. I'll be back for sure as soon as possible, thank you very much! I have nothing to add this time either!

I really like it in the Blauer Aff. The food was and is always good for me. Unfortunately, a very smelly dog ​​came into the guest room. That spoiled my meal a little. The heat and the tightness made the whole thing intensified. Too bad! Therefore 2 stars deducted.
