A very nice excursion restaurant in the beautiful Odenwald. The wine list is remarkable. A few points of criticism about the food: The duck breast was not particularly cooked, the taste was at best a grade 3, my expectations were higher here! The roast venison was burnt, which only the dark sauce could hide from the outside. But overall the overall impression was good. The kitchen definitely needs to be improved here.

Old-established restaurant...Consistently good...cozy atmosphere, down-to-earth food, very good wines. All in all, highly recommended.

The restaurant “Blauer Aff” in Bensheim offers a cozy, rustic atmosphere, even if the seating is a little less inviting for a longer stay. The staff was consistently friendly and tried very hard. There were a few culinary highlights: We were particularly impressed by the rib-eye steak, which was of the highest quality and preparation. The sweet potato fries were also a real treat. The pumpkin tortellini, although tasty, could have used a firmer consistency as the filling was very creamy. The tarte flambée with goat cheese and figs, on the other hand, was completely convincing, although a touch of lemon thyme would have made the taste of the figs a little more intense. A small point that caught our attention was the delayed serving of the food - not only to us, but also to many other tables. The dishes came at different intervals, which somewhat marred the otherwise pleasant evening. The prices are fair, but the dessert at the end was a bit disappointing: the chocolate cake had no liquid center and the cream seemed unseasoned. The apple crumble was also too buttery and could have used a fresher note. All in all, it was still a nice visit to the “Blauer Aff”, and we would be happy to come back to continue to enjoy the positive aspects!

Today we spontaneously went to the Blue Monkey and were lucky that the three of us got a place. I had an excellent time at the Blue Monkey! The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was simply fantastic - every bite was a delight. The ambience is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening. I can only warmly recommend this place!

A traditional, traditional wine bar with a great atmosphere.

A special and beautiful place. The old house radiates a very special warmth. Always decorated differently depending on the season, there is always something for the eye to discover. The food always varies seasonally depending on the products, although the regular menu always includes great classics. And what is definitely true here is the fact that the chef knows her craft. This is where good products mixed with craft skills and the joy of food come together. The result is always very good. There is also a great selection of wines and so far we have always received good advice and the service also knew what was good. We have experienced it differently and are of course happy if we can experience it differently here. It's always wild here! Plus the great savoy cabbage vegetables - a dream. My husband, a Saarlander, always goes home happy here - and that's saying something.😉

Whenever visitors come from the Netherlands, I take them to the Blue Monkey. The ambience is simply great and the food is some of the best German cuisine I have ever tasted. My favorites are the cooked cheese schnitzel, the chocolate cake with a liquid center as dessert and the Rosanne as a drink.

It's always nice in the Blue Monkey. The staff is consistently very friendly and on the ball. The food was very tasty... Saumagen with savoy cabbage & fried potatoes. The price-performance ratio is still right here.

A very rustic restaurant where you feel comfortable and receive a friendly welcome. The inner garden is beautifully decorated. The cooked cheese with music as a starter tasted very tasty. For the main course, the breaded schnitzel was of good quality. However, the fried potatoes were quite bland and there were no condiments on the table either. The cucumber salad served with it could have used a little more salt, but it was still good.

The blue monkey is awesome. Great wines from the region. The furnishings are very cozy without being kitschy. In the barn, in the courtyard and in the front of the room, a little different everywhere. The very young staff are always on their toes, the food is excellent, “simple” dishes from the region in the standard menu and special delicacies in the seasonal menu. If you weren't there, you missed something, honestly!

Beim „Blauen Aff“ werden wir nie enttäuscht 😊 Einer der besten und vor allem auch „kultigsten“ Lokale hier im Umkreis (zumindest für uns); einfach saugemütlich, urig, 109% Wohlfühlfaktor, allesamt sehr freundlich und das Essen sehr lecker. Wir haben wieder einmal was von der Saisonkarte genommen, die regelmäßig saisonbedingt wechselt, diesmal waren es die Pfifferlinge. Tolle Gerichte, auch auf der „festen“ Speisekarte - regional, hessisch, vegan, etc., für jede/n was dabei. Wir kommen wieder, gar keine Frage, wir bleiben gerne weiterhin dem „Blauen Aff“ treu. Unbedingt Reservierung, da (fast) immer voll!

Historic, rustic, cozy restaurant that is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. I would definitely recommend a reservation. The parking situation is not ideal, but with a bit of luck you can always find something in the small alleys or in a public parking lot a few meters away. Good food and nice service.

Half the chicken is crispy and juicy... we also had bratwursts with savoy cabbage - delicious. The inner courtyard under the maple tree is really homely and special, like a little time out. Lots of young, ambitious service staff having fun together... I would have wished that the assignment of our table to the service was fixed - but that's just the icing on the cake.

super leckeres essen in sehr urigem Flair. Leider saßen wir bei warmen Wetter in einem kleinen Raum der nicht ganz so gut belüftet war, es war aber auch sehr warm draussen. Service war super freundlich, nett und vorallem sehr schnell. Hatte immer ein Auge auf die Kunden.

Unfortunately, I have to say that I can't quite understand the hype surrounding the place. The best thing by far, in my opinion, is the service. There's nothing on offer that I couldn't prepare at home without much effort, and many things are certainly even better. My schnitzel wasn't tender, the breading was full of fat. The cucumber salad lacked kick, as did the fried potatoes. I get that better even in a beer garden. My companion's RibEye steak was quite ok, although you can get a fillet steak elsewhere for the price quoted. I don't want to comment further about the supplements. My conclusion: Neither the offer nor the price is right for me. I can't recommend the place.

It was a great summer evening in the Blaue Aff, nice ambience, very tasty food and the ladies and gentlemen in service deserve an extra star for their friendliness and attentiveness. What's a little annoying is that the tables and chairs are so close together that you can hardly get in and out. Otherwise, full stars for the Blue Monkey. We have been happy to come here for years when we visit family.

Super cozy, traditional restaurant on Bergstrasse with home-style German cuisine of a very good standard. The historic half-timbered house with its rustic, cozy rooms is a well-known inn throughout the region. Reservations (especially on weekends) are mandatory. There is a regular menu with regional specialties and an additional seasonal menu. In addition to the traditional classics of traditional tavern cuisine, you should definitely try the rump steaks. 300 grams of the best beef cooked to perfection is not only an impressive sight but also makes meat lovers' hearts beat faster. A real pleasure. Very good wine list with a good selection of regional wines. The service is attentive but relaxed, friendly and fast. The price-performance ratio is still ok. The only thing that bothered us was that guests with dogs would sit down right next to us without even asking. I just don't find it pleasant to eat. It's nice that there are still places like this!

In addition to the blue facade (yes, the name says it), what you first notice are the lovingly and very differently furnished guest rooms on the ground floor, inner courtyard and upper floor. So it's worth taking a look at all the rooms on your first visit. In addition to the furnishings, the Blauer Aff impresses with its friendly, quick service and good food. The inner courtyard, which is covered and sheltered from the wind if necessary, makes it possible to sit outside even when the weather is not quite optimal.

The Blaue Aff in Auerbach is a traditional restaurant and always well attended. The staff here is always very friendly, attentive and there are no waiting times. When the weather is nice, you can sit in the courtyard and reservations can be made online. The food, there is a traditional menu and a seasonal menu, is very good and plentiful. We had a cooked cheese schnitzel (extra cooked cheese at no extra cost is no problem here) as well as a great rump steak of 300 gr and fried to a perfect medium. Clear recommendation.

Very rustic restaurant with smart cuisine between regional Odenwald cuisine and specials with a Mediterranean flair. The food is of top quality, only surpassed by picture-perfect service. The shop was packed, but the food was on the table 15 minutes after ordering and we regularly asked whether everything was good and whether we needed anything else. It doesn't get any better. Not exactly cheap, but thanks to the above-mentioned top price-performance ratio. We'd love to come back.
