A very chic, playful, and modern restaurant. With special dishes for both small and large appetites. The service was very friendly and prompt, which I particularly appreciated. They took their time and made recommendations. The food was fresh and delicious! It was a very pleasant evening; we'd love to come back!

A truly memorable experience We have now done several catering events (business lunches, Christmas parties) with Robert and his team and would 100% recommend them. What impressed us: the professional approach, the friendly communication beforehand, but most importantly – delicious, high-quality food that's a feast for the eyes! The catering selection offers a wide variety, tailored to the seasonal/regional offerings and also fully covers requests for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free alternatives. It's not easy to find a caterer that also prepares vegan/vegetarian main courses – and then as a taste and visual highlight. The team also provided service support at our Christmas party. We found the team's professional, friendly, yet unobtrusive demeanor very pleasant and appropriate for the occasion. The highlight of the evening was the whole salmon on the grill – a culinary delight at its finest. We would like to thank them for the perfect execution and the first-class catering with plenty of expertise and heart, and we look forward to our next visit! Update from September 2025: We are still absolutely thrilled with the variety and quality of the catering options, as well as the friendliness and professionalism of Robert's team, and would recommend them at any time.

We visited our old hometown again and, of course, went to Bistro Ludwig for dinner. It was exceptionally delicious, and the service was very friendly and attentive. A very good wine selection, and you get the wine by the glass that's listed on the menu. An all-around lovely evening. Thank you so much, and we'll be back.

It's a very cozy place to dine. They mainly serve tarte flambée, but also offer a few other delicacies. The interior and exterior are beautifully designed, making it a place where you feel at home.

We discovered Bistro Ludwig by chance and stopped in spontaneously. We didn't regret it. Top-notch food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I've never had a better Caesar salad outside of the US. The dessert was divine. As soon as we find ourselves back here, we'll definitely be back.

The garden was, rightly so, already fully booked when we arrived on spec with four people. We sat inside. The decor is lovely. The food was incredibly good! Plenty of it. Well-seasoned and with plenty of salad if you ordered it as a side dish. The service was also great. Highly recommended, and I would definitely make a reservation for the garden.

We're traveling here on the Rhine in our motorhome, staying upstream at a wonderful, natural campsite, and taking a bike ride to Bad Honnef—just to see it. It wasn't anything. What a hectic spa town—at least in the town center around the main street. . . . But then, luckily, we found Bistro Ludwig, stopped in, and sat in the back garden restaurant. A beautiful location with plenty of peace, flair, and charm—and I ate the best asparagus soup of my life there, refined with smoked salmon strips. A dream. The original Alsatian tarte flambée was also good, but a bit dry around the edges. The young woman who served us is definitely worth mentioning. Just 19 years old—but already a complete professional. Nice, polite, and accommodating, without being intrusive. And extremely nimble. She kept her guests constantly in view; a quick eye contact with her and a brief gesture requesting their attention – and she was at the table, asking what we wanted. She served the entire back garden restaurant, with its numerous guests, almost single-handedly. I've seen waitresses who were stressed and overwhelmed with half as many guests. Not this young woman – experiencing her, along with the great ambiance and the good food, was worth the visit alone. I also really liked the ambiance inside the restaurant. It's very stylishly decorated. A far cry from the typical bistro decor. What do I usually call something like this? A place with style, flair, and charm. In my opinion, the restaurant is an absolute recommendation – summer and winter alike. It certainly won't be the last time I'll be there (... if I'm ever in the area again and want to experience the hustle and bustle of Bad Honnef's city center again). . . . And I recently did it again, just to feel completely at home at Bistro Ludwig. Great restaurant and great team there.

A very pleasant and rather unassuming restaurant from the outside. The food was truly excellent!

What a stupendous dinner. Our vegan tartes-flambées were both exquisite. The salad was fresh and tasty and the vegan brownie rounded off perfect evening. The staff was very quick, helpful und friendly. We were sitting outside, inside it seemed a bit loud, but that luckily did not need to concern us

What a lovely café! We stopped there today after my daughter's civil wedding. We arrived much earlier than expected, and everything was ready. Everything was perfect, and it was a lovely end to the evening. Superbly unobtrusive service, everything beautifully presented. Absolutely fantastic, and thank you so much.

Wow! Many restaurateurs could learn a lot from this place! You feel at home as soon as you enter the café: uniquely and tastefully decorated, a progressive menu, and, above all, the young waitresses are unbeatable in their charm and courtesy. Unfortunately, I have to change my review: I specifically ordered vegan tarte flambée and a latte with oat milk and received a completely non-vegan dish. Unfortunately, it was my mistake to ask too late if everything was really vegan. Unfortunately, it wasn't, and all I got was "Oh, I missed that, is that really bad?" People with lactose intolerance should definitely stay safe here!

Very friendly staff, the terrace is very nicely decorated. We had a delicious iced coffee.

I came with my husband and my six year old daughter for lunch on a sunny afternoon. We sat in the courtyard in the back, which is mostly shaded. The atmosphere is lovely and relaxing, beautiful planting and very quiet. The service was very attentive and the food was excellent. We had a steak salad and a caprese flammkuchen and that was plenty food for the three of us on a sunny day. For desert we all had a small scoop of homemade ice cream which was a delicious treat at the end. The whole experience was a wonderful relaxing break on a very hot day and I would definitely come back if I come to the area again.

Beautiful location with a lovely Honnef atmosphere. The tarte flambée was very generously topped! I thought it was fantastic! Best tarte flambée yet! I would have liked more options for bread dips, like aioli or guacamole. The ones served (herb cream cheese and one with tomato) were still delicious, though!

We discovered this gem on Google Maps while passing through. This is what I want in a restaurant: fresh, local, and seasonal specialties. I had the tarte flambée with Parma ham. I'm not really a big tarte flambée fan—now I am! It was so incredibly delicious! By far the best tarte flambée I've ever eaten in my life. I'd also like to commend the staff: the young people were attentive, competent, prompt, and friendly. I wish everyone at Ludwigs Bistro all the best from the bottom of my heart!

A café/restaurant-bistro With a pleasant atmosphere, very friendly service, and a great selection of food and drinks. Vegan alternatives are available for many dishes, and the value for money is very good.

This week was my third time there for lunch in a short period of time. The service hasn't improved. There's a lot of idle time, dirty tables are left standing for a long time or are only half-cleaned, so new guests start at a dirty table. The kitchen's performance is consistent. The price-performance ratio for wine isn't customer-friendly: While a bottle of wine (1 liter) at the winery officially costs €5.20, a glass (0.2 liter) at the bistro costs €6.50, that's not acceptable in my opinion.

The dining room is beautifully decorated, with a lovely outdoor dining option in the courtyard. A relatively small menu with a selection of delicious dishes, freshly prepared and lovingly presented. The wines are complemented by excellent service. Very attentive, friendly service, even at a late hour. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable evening!

Top bistro, good vegan food, beautiful garden.

We celebrated my husband's milestone birthday with a large group at Bistro Ludwig on Saturday. We had brunch and plenty of tarte flambée. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent; nothing was missing. We definitely like the atmosphere and enjoy eating there. High praise.

Beautiful interior, which is always a matter of taste. I think it's fantastic. Service and food/drinks are very expensive in comparison. Ultimately it's about a tarte flambée. It's wonderful that some of it comes from the region. The problem for me personally: I just wasn't full. But tasty for in between meals is perfectly fine.

In summer it is very pleasant to sit outside. Vegetarians don't miss out either. Bread is served in small paper towels so that you can take away the leftovers (if necessary) of the freshly baked bread.

After a long time I was here again. Food is still great!! But we probably caught the wrong day for a cozy evening. Unfortunately there was no more coffee at 8:20 p.m. The restaurant closes at 10:30 p.m.!!!! The service person said something about it not being worth it and how it would be in the restaurant... There were still various tables occupied. It's a shame for the otherwise lovely bistro.

A lovely bistro with a great, relaxed atmosphere. I particularly liked the back part, a quiet place to sit outside and enjoy a snack or drink when the weather is nice. The service was also impeccable and courteous. The food and drinks cannot be faulted, portions and prices are in good proportion. The homemade bread with the various dips was highly recommended, and there are also some dishes that are suitable for sharing. So you can have a good lunch here, as well as just have snacks or enjoy a drink. If you are traveling in Bad Honnef, it is worth stopping off here. Recommended as a local guide.

We were here for lunch and loved the delicious salads. Since we sat right at the front of the restaurant by the window, we haven't seen everything yet, but the front area already impressed us with its cozy furnishings. We'll definitely be back!

Totally pleasantly surprised, from start to finish. Service, cuisine outstanding! We ordered 3 meals, forest and meadow and ratatouille tarte flambée and ratatouille salad vegan. I don't know how that happens, but the vegetables and meat tasted so good that we were completely thrilled. This is the food of the future, we all said independently. It's a shame that we live 150 km away and can't visit this restaurant often, unfortunately 😄! After a really low bill, that was the second surprise, when we went out we saw the open kitchen being scrubbed. From top to bottom with cleaner and lots of water! Many restaurants can learn a lesson here. Cooking is love, and the whole team conveys exactly that. It is not a job but a calling, thank you very much, that has become very rare. We'll come back at some point because we really liked Bad Honnef❤️

Last summer we had an excellent meal at Bistro Ludwig and can highly recommend the cuisine, the ambience and the service. Our three courses cost us €30-40 and we were completely satisfied and full. The homemade iced tea and the tarte flambée are particularly recommended. We will definitely visit the restaurant again in the future. Thanks for the great visit.

We spent a very nice evening in Bistro Ludwig. Although we hadn't made a reservation and the bistro was already very full in the early evening, a place was still found for us. The tarte flambées were unusual and very tasty and could also be ordered in a vegan version. The service and ambience were also great!

Wir wollten schon so lange mal hier hin. Und es hat sich richtig gelohnt. Das Ambiente gefällt richtig gut. Die Getränke- und Speisenauswahl super. Die Qualität der Speisen und Getränke einfach lecker. Die Flammkuchen sind sehr zu empfehlen!! Der Service war freundlich und sehr bemüht. Alles in allem ein schöner Abend!

We were here for lunch during a training session at a nearby seminar. The tarte flambée was very tasty and large - I actually had a bit of trouble eating it all. I only managed to do that because I liked it very much. 😀 The service was quick, friendly and very attentive. Even dessert was packed for us to take home when we realized that we were a little late for the rest of the seminar. I would be happy to come here again.

Totally cozy and lovingly furnished. Ordered the duck from the special menu and didn't regret it. Not exactly cheap, but tasty. The red cabbage was fresh and homemade, very tasty, and the small dumplings were something different. Highly recommended.

Great bistro with delicious food and drinks

Unfortunately, things keep happening that were previously beyond our imagination. But first things first: Today my wife and I had an appointment with friends in Bad Honnef. The Bistro Ludwig was on the way so we stopped by spontaneously. We both ordered food. My wife ordered an herbal tea and specifically stated that she has a problem with acidity and therefore the tea cannot contain anything fruity. Before she could give an example, the young man interrupted her, “He didn’t.” The tea that was then brought was extremely sour because it contained, among other things, lemon balm and lemon verbena. We returned the tea, ate the food, drank another cappuccino and got the bill. We were completely surprised to find the tea on the bill. Of course, we initially thought it was an oversight. The innkeeper, however, insisted on paying for the tea. After all, we would have ordered it and would have to pay for it. We tried to explain again that we definitely didn't order that kind of tea. The innkeeper then explained to us that the ingredients were herbs and not fruits. Besides, we could have read before putting the bag in the water. A misunderstanding can always happen, but we were not prepared for such impudence. Now we were no longer willing to compromise. The boss was called out of the kitchen (“There are people here who want to cheat the bill”). Of course we paid the rest of the bill, but not the tea, left our address and are very relaxed about facing criminal charges. How stubborn and clumsy can a person be? Obviously we had a bad experience with other guests. If the tea had been taken out of the bill, we would have tipped at least the same amount and the matter would have been settled in a relaxed manner for both parties. Our friends were also completely stunned; They advised us to draw attention to the behavior in this bistro through this review, which we are doing here. Regarding the host's comments: 1.) We weren't agitated at all in the bistro, my wife made a face and I brought the tea back discreetly, quietly and in a friendly manner. We were both very upset when we heard the accusation of theft. 2.) After we were accused of carousing, we actually suggested calling the police. 3.) We actually left our address and phone number on a piece of paper. 4.) All the quotes are correct, especially “There are people here who want to cheat the bill”. 5.) A good restaurant not only includes good food, but also good treatment of the guests. A little accommodation and diplomacy instead of stubbornly insisting on your rights and the guests will certainly be accommodating.

Leider passieren immer wieder Dinge, die bis dahin jenseits unserer Vorstellungskraft lagen. Aber der Reihe nach: Am heutigen Tag waren meine Frau und ich mit Freunden in Bad Honnef verabredet. Das Bistro Ludwig lag auf dem Weg und so kehrten wir spontan ein. Wir bestellten beide Essen. Meine Frau bestellte einen Kräutertee und erklärte ausdrücklich, dass sie ein Problem mit Säure hat, und der Tee daher nichts Fruchtiges enthalten darf. Bevor sie ein Beispiel nennen konnte, unterbrach sie der junge Mann „Hat er nicht“. Der Tee, der daraufhin gebracht wurde, war extrem sauer, denn er enthielt u.a. Zitronenmelisse und Zitronenverbene. Wir gaben den Tee zurück, aßen das Essen, tranken noch einen Cappuccino und bekamen die Rechnung. Völlig überrascht fanden wir den Tee auf der Rechnung. Natürlich dachten wir zunächst an ein Versehen. Der Wirt hingegen bestand auf der Bezahlung des Tees. Wir hätten ihn schließlich bestellt und müssten ihn auch bezahlen. Wir versuchten noch einmal zu erklären, dass wir diese Art Tee definitiv nicht bestellt haben. Daraufhin erklärte uns der Wirt, die Bestandteile seien Kräuter und keine Früchte. Außerdem hätten wir ja lesen können, bevor wir den Beutel ins Wasser geben. Es kann immer mal ein Irrtum passieren, aber auf eine derartige Frechheit waren wir nicht vorbereitet. Jetzt waren auch wir nicht mehr kompromissbereit Es wurde noch der Chef aus der Küche gerufen („Hier sind Leute, die wollen die Zeche prellen“). Wir bezahlten selbstverständlich die übrige Zeche, jedoch nicht den Tee, hinterließen unsere Adresse und sehen sehr entspannt einer Strafanzeige entgegen. Wir starrköpfig und ungeschickt kann ein Mensch sein? Ganz offensichtlich hat man schlechte Erfahrung mit anderen Gästen an uns abgearbeitet. Hätte man den Tee aus der Rechnung gestrichen, hätten wir mindestens den gleichen Betrag als Trinkgeld gegeben und die Angelegenheit wäre ganz entspannt für beide Seiten erledigt gewesen. Auch unsere Freunde waren völlig fassungslos; sie haben uns geraten, durch diese Bewertung über das Gebaren in diesem Bistro aufmerksam zu machen, was wir hiermit tun.

After our civil wedding we had lunch at Café Ludwig and it was simply wonderful! We were able to spontaneously toast with champagne outside before sitting down inside for a delicious meal. The tarte flambées were excellent and our allergies were even taken into consideration. The service was first class - attentive and friendly - and the atmosphere was relaxed, which was particularly good for us after an exciting day. We couldn't have imagined a better place for this special moment. Absolutely recommended!

Wir hatten mit unseren 64 Gästen einen wunderbaren Brunch im Bistro Ludwig. Alle waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Frühstück und den anschließenden leckeren Flammkuchenvariationen. Very nice staff and a really nice atmosphere in the “backyard”. The best tarte flambée I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Very generously topped (even too much depending on the topping) and the spelled dough as an alternative is super delicious. Definitely worth a visit!! Additionally, the homemade Limoncello Spritz was simply delicious.

A really great bistro with a beautiful outdoor area in the countryside. Very tasty home-made meals and desserts. Tarte flambée really tasty and great value for money. Fresh ingredients and, if possible, everything regional. Unusual variations and not what you normally get in tarte flambée or salads. Highly recommended. The service is also very attentive. This evening I had dinner at Bistro Ludwig with my daughter and our two dogs. I have to say that I have never received such great service as I did today in this beautiful bistro. Apart from a fantastic meal in a wonderful atmosphere, the service was incredible. Not only was she incredibly quick and attentive, but she really infected us with her friendliness. At the end she gave us a surprise. Thank you very much for a fantastic evening :) We will 100% stop by again next time we visit Bad Honnef.

After a short hike from Königswinter over the Drachenfelsen, the Bistro Ludwig is the ideal place to stop. Even the little ones get their money's worth in the garden kitchen.

A restaurant with a cozy terrace in the courtyard, very friendly service, the food is a bit scarce but very interesting and tasty. Definitely a place to enjoy a light dinner or to have a drink with your best friend and treat yourself to a delicious dessert.

A real highlight in the culinary desert of Bad Honnef... definitely have to come back. The tarte flambée with ham and rocket was sensationally delicious, and the dessert trio was a great ending. The super beautiful outside area and the lovingly decorated walls and cupboards are exactly my thing... I would move in easily. See you soon!

We were warmly welcomed with our dog. The dogs were looked after just as warmly as we were. The food was terrific. Gladly again when the opportunity arises.

We stopped by here spontaneously and were lucky that there was a place for us outside in the garden. It was well attended for dinner. The atmosphere in the garden was very relaxed, surrounded by trees. We liked it a lot. The staff was very nice and often asked if everything was OK or if there was anything else we would like. We each ate a tarte flambée, which we really enjoyed. For dessert we shared a cinnamon roll. There were numerous vegetarian and vegan dishes. All in all, we really enjoyed the dinner.

Danke für einen perfekten Abend. Sehr freundlicher Service und sehr leckere und liebevoll angerichtete Speisen in einem schönen Ambiente rundeten unseren Kurztrip ins Rheinland ab. Man bekommt den Wein im Glas, der auf der Karte steht. Wir kommen wieder!

Nachdem wir schon des Öfteren mit kleiner Besetzung beim Bistro Ludwig zu Gast und immer sehr zufrieden waren, haben wir nun eine Geburtstagsfeier mit >20 Personen dort ausgerichtet. Der Abend war perfekt in jeglicher Hinsicht. Angefangen beim Sektempfang mit lecker Auswahl an Fingerfood, die kreativen Vorspeisen-Platten bis hin zu „Flammkuchen satt“ und abschließenden Desserts. Die Weinempfehlungen waren hervorragend und haben unseren Gästen gut gemundet. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der freundliche Service, bei der großen Personenzahl zusätzlich zu weiteren Restaurantgästen, war die Bedienung immer freundlich und zuvorkommend. Vielen herzlichen Dank!

I had Rosa's Roast Beef (the small one), and it would feed two. Come hungry, and you won't be disappointed. Wafer thin, rare roast beef, sautéed potatoes, and a well-dressed salad. It was delicious and one of the best meals I've had in ages. The service is excellent and the staff are so friendly. Highly recommended 👌

Highly recommended with very friendly service: Cold roast beef with homemade (mega-tasty!) fried potatoes and tartar sauce! Small portion can be selected, but enough for dinner
