Bistro Ludwig in Bad Honnef

Unfortunately, things keep happening that were previously beyond our imagination. But first things first: Today my wife and I had an appointment with friends in Bad Honnef. The Bistro Ludwig was on the way so we stopped by spontaneously. We both ordered food. My wife ordered an herbal tea and specifically stated that she has a problem with acidity and therefore the tea cannot contain anything fruity. Before she could give an example, the young man interrupted her, “He didn’t.” The tea that was then brought was extremely sour because it contained, among other things, lemon balm and lemon verbena. We returned the tea, ate the food, drank another cappuccino and got the bill. We were completely surprised to find the tea on the bill. Of course, we initially thought it was an oversight. The innkeeper, however, insisted on paying for the tea. After all, we would have ordered it and would have to pay for it. We tried to explain again that we definitely didn't order that kind of tea. The innkeeper then explained to us that the ingredients were herbs and not fruits. Besides, we could have read before putting the bag in the water. A misunderstanding can always happen, but we were not prepared for such impudence. Now we were no longer willing to compromise. The boss was called out of the kitchen (“There are people here who want to cheat the bill”). Of course we paid the rest of the bill, but not the tea, left our address and are very relaxed about facing criminal charges. How stubborn and clumsy can a person be? Obviously we had a bad experience with other guests. If the tea had been taken out of the bill, we would have tipped at least the same amount and the matter would have been settled in a relaxed manner for both parties. Our friends were also completely stunned; They advised us to draw attention to the behavior in this bistro through this review, which we are doing here. Regarding the host's comments: 1.) We weren't agitated at all in the bistro, my wife made a face and I brought the tea back discreetly, quietly and in a friendly manner. We were both very upset when we heard the accusation of theft. 2.) After we were accused of carousing, we actually suggested calling the police. 3.) We actually left our address and phone number on a piece of paper. 4.) All the quotes are correct, especially “There are people here who want to cheat the bill”. 5.) A good restaurant not only includes good food, but also good treatment of the guests. A little accommodation and diplomacy instead of stubbornly insisting on your rights and the guests will certainly be accommodating.

Great bistro with delicious food and drinks

Very tasty and richly topped tarte flambée. The ambience and service are also great. The bistro will now be a must visit for us in Bad Hennef.

Delicious tarte flambée, an always varied menu and a wide and international drinks list make this restaurant worth visiting. The staff are friendly, helpful and remain calm when you drop in for a drink as a late guest. Ambiance only four stars, because when it's full you notice how hard the room is.

Dishes are delicious and attractively prepared. Very nice service and nice atmosphere. Often well attended, so it's best to make a reservation.

After our civil wedding we had lunch at Café Ludwig and it was simply wonderful! We were able to spontaneously toast with champagne outside before sitting down inside for a delicious meal. The tarte flambées were excellent and our allergies were even taken into consideration. The service was first class - attentive and friendly - and the atmosphere was relaxed, which was particularly good for us after an exciting day. We couldn't have imagined a better place for this special moment. Absolutely recommended!

Wir hatten mit unseren 64 Gästen einen wunderbaren Brunch im Bistro Ludwig. Alle waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Frühstück und den anschließenden leckeren Flammkuchenvariationen. Das Team war sehr zuvorkommend und die Weiterfeier im Garten überaus idyllisch. Ganz herzlichen Dank an das Team des Bistro Ludwig.

Very nice staff and a really nice atmosphere in the “backyard”. The best tarte flambée I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Very generously topped (even too much depending on the topping) and the spelled dough as an alternative is super delicious. Definitely worth a visit!! Additionally, the homemade Limoncello Spritz was simply delicious.

Found through Google maps. And were surprised. Very nicely located beer garden, local products fresh on the tarte flambée, extremely tasty 😋 😋 😋 The prices are completely okay.

We ate here twice today. The tarte flambées are super delicious, I had the honey parfeit with figs as dessert - a dream 😋. The quality is great, everything is fresh. The ambience in the garden is very nice, great green place. I also really liked the country house style interior. Open kitchen 👍. The service team is very friendly and attentive. A really great bistro with a beautiful outdoor area in the countryside. Very tasty home-made meals and desserts. Tarte flambée really tasty and great value for money. Fresh ingredients and, if possible, everything regional. Unusual variations and not what you normally get in tarte flambée or salads. Highly recommended. The service is also very attentive. If I'm in the area again, definitely again.

This evening I had dinner at Bistro Ludwig with my daughter and our two dogs. I have to say that I have never received such great service as I did today in this beautiful bistro. Apart from a fantastic meal in a wonderful atmosphere, the service was incredible. Not only was she incredibly quick and attentive, but she really infected us with her friendliness. At the end she gave us a surprise. Thank you very much for a fantastic evening :) We will 100% stop by again next time we visit Bad Honnef.

After a short hike from Königswinter over the Drachenfelsen, the Bistro Ludwig is the ideal place to stop. Even the little ones get their money's worth in the garden kitchen.

A restaurant with a cozy terrace in the courtyard, very friendly service, the food is a bit scarce but very interesting and tasty. Definitely a place to enjoy a light dinner or to have a drink with your best friend and treat yourself to a delicious dessert.

A real highlight in the culinary desert of Bad Honnef... definitely have to come back. The tarte flambée with ham and rocket was sensationally delicious, and the dessert trio was a great ending. The super beautiful outside area and the lovingly decorated walls and cupboards are exactly my thing... I would move in easily. See you soon!

We were warmly welcomed with our dog. The dogs were looked after just as warmly as we were. The food was terrific. Gladly again when the opportunity arises.

We stopped by here spontaneously and were lucky that there was a place for us outside in the garden. It was well attended for dinner. The atmosphere in the garden was very relaxed, surrounded by trees. We liked it a lot. The staff was very nice and often asked if everything was OK or if there was anything else we would like. We each ate a tarte flambée, which we really enjoyed. For dessert we shared a cinnamon roll. There were numerous vegetarian and vegan dishes. All in all, we really enjoyed the dinner.

We spontaneously decided on Ludwig because we really liked the place from the outside. We weren't disappointed, quite the opposite. The service was very friendly and competent, the food and wine were fantastic. Thank you very much from the whole team Ludwig!

Danke für einen perfekten Abend. Sehr freundlicher Service und sehr leckere und liebevoll angerichtete Speisen in einem schönen Ambiente rundeten unseren Kurztrip ins Rheinland ab. Man bekommt den Wein im Glas, der auf der Karte steht. Wir kommen wieder!

Nachdem wir schon des Öfteren mit kleiner Besetzung beim Bistro Ludwig zu Gast und immer sehr zufrieden waren, haben wir nun eine Geburtstagsfeier mit >20 Personen dort ausgerichtet. Der Abend war perfekt in jeglicher Hinsicht. Angefangen beim Sektempfang mit lecker Auswahl an Fingerfood, die kreativen Vorspeisen-Platten bis hin zu „Flammkuchen satt“ und abschließenden Desserts. Die Weinempfehlungen waren hervorragend und haben unseren Gästen gut gemundet. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der freundliche Service, bei der großen Personenzahl zusätzlich zu weiteren Restaurantgästen, war die Bedienung immer freundlich und zuvorkommend. Vielen herzlichen Dank!

I had Rosa's Roast Beef (the small one), and it would feed two. Come hungry, and you won't be disappointed. Wafer thin, rare roast beef, sautéed potatoes, and a well-dressed salad. It was delicious and one of the best meals I've had in ages. The service is excellent and the staff are so friendly. Highly recommended 👌

Incredibly good dishes!! There is also an extensive selection for people who eat vegetarian or vegan foods. The changing promotional menu always ensures new seasonal creations. Always happy to come!

We were here for the first time yesterday, but certainly not the last time. On the way home from our short vacation, our friends who already knew the bistro brought us here. As a starter we tried homemade bread and 2 great dips. Since there were four of us, we were able to try four of the delicious tarte flambées, and they all tasted great and had plenty of toppings. You should still leave room for a dessert or a coffee ;) Pumpkin seed ice cream, dessert Ludwig and also the coffee were amazing. The imaginative ambience and friendly service rounded the whole thing off. We're looking forward to next time ! Keep it up!!!

We have eaten here several times and this visit was the second time we were there with a larger group. The restaurant offered us to order the food a day in advance so that we could receive our food at the same time and eat together. That worked perfectly! We had various tarte flambées, all of which were very tasty. My favorite is the pink roast beef with fried potatoes and salad! Mmmm! Small note: With the large portion, you should have twice the amount of delicious tartar sauce without being asked. Thanks to the friendly and fast team :-)) We'll definitely be back!

A very nice, cozy location. I would describe it as country house style, everything is nice and bright. There is also an outdoor area, which was already open in March when the weather was nice and sunny. We haven't found it particularly inviting yet, but I think we're still thinking about it. Attentive and friendly service. My companion has celiac disease and has to avoid eating wheat gluten when eating. The service knew how to handle it professionally and responded appropriately. We felt very comfortable and the food was excellent. I will try the beautiful wine selection on my next visit 😊. The only thing we would complain about is that the room is very noisy and you had to concentrate on your own conversation because the background noise was very loud. But that's complaining at a high level. It's nice that you're enriching Bad Honnef.

Unfortunately the food wasn't that good. It was OK. I ate a salad. The waitress was not friendly, a bit absent or ignorant 🤷‍♀️ definitely not enlightening or trying. She said it's all on the map... I don't have the feeling that I want to go there again 😅It's best to see for yourself.

Was uns überzeugt hat: der professionelle Ablauf, die freundliche Kommunikation vorab, aber das Wichtigste – sehr leckeres Essen auf qualitativ hohem Niveau, bei dem das Auge mit Vergnügen mitisst! Die Catering-Auswahl bietet viel Variation, angepasst an das saisonale/ regionale Angebot und deckt zudem Wünsche nach vegetarischen, veganen und glutenfreien Alternativen rundum ab. Es ist nicht leicht ein Catering zu finden, welches auch vegane/ vegetarische Hauptspeisen – und dann noch als geschmackliches und optisches Highlight – zubereitet. Bei unserer Weihnachtsfeier hat das Team auch im Service unterstützt. Wir haben das professionelle, freundliche aber unaufdringliche Auftreten des Teams vor Ort als sehr angenehm und für den Anlass passend empfunden. Ich bin das 4. Mal in Bad Honnef und bin froh, dieses Restaurant gefunden zu haben. Das Personal sooo freundlich, das Ambiente so liebevoll, kinderfreundlich und eine der besten Suppen die ich je gegessen habe. Preise angemessen.

Außerordentlich freundlicher Service

Wir kamen um 20.45 Uhr an und durften dennoch bestellen ( die Küche schließt um 21 Uhr). Das Essen Salat mit Ziegenkäse und einem Papierbeutel in dem sich viele Stücke von 3 Brotsorten frischem Brot versteckten war mega lecker! Meinem Mann schmeckte der Flammkuchen classic auch wunderbar. Der süffige Federweiser rundete das Essen noch ab. Wir sind froh, dass wir dieses Kleinod gefunden haben. Toll, dass es auch mal einen Laden mit alkfreien Weinen gibt!

Heute hat mich meine Süße zum Abendessen eingeladen ins Bistro Ludwig und ich war sofort begeistert von denn Räumlichkeiten und vom Essen wir sind nicht enttäuscht worden und das Essen war mega lecker wir kommen wieder und lassen uns bestimmt nochmals verzaubern vom leckeren Essen... ich kann nur eine mega Bewertung hinterlassen...

Wir waren gestern Abend spontan hier essen. Ich will es kurz fassen. In allem ein Traum, eine der besten Flammkuchen, den ich je gegessen hab. Der Salat meiner Frau war geschmacklich auch der Hit. Zum Nachtisch hatten wir einen kleinen Schokokuchen mit flüssigem Kern, hausgemachten Kürbiskern-Eis und marinierten Blaubeeren. Der Service nett und freundlich sowie zuvorkommend. Ein Besuch im Bistro Ludwig ist auf jeden Fall ein Muss, wenn man in Bad Honnef ist.

Ein sehr schöner, nostalgisch eingerichtetes Lokal. Mit einem sehr hübschen Biergarten. Bei Sonnenschein sollte man sich hier aufhalten. Wir hatten den Vesperteller, klein, der für einen kleinen Snack für Zwei vollkommen ausreicht. Und der war super lecker. Dazu ein Wein, was möchte mehr. Der Flammkuchen, toll. Natürlich eine super freundliche Bedienung.

Durch einen glücklichen Zufall sind wir in dieses Lokal gekommen und waren begeistert. Kleine aber feine Karte. Alle Gerichte frisch zubereitet und super lecker. Den Nachtisch muss man unbedingt probieren. Toller Service! Alle waren sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wenn man in Bad Honnef ist, muss man hierher!

Herrliches Bistro mitten in Bad Honnef. Es hat wirklich alles gestimmt. Reservierung. Einen Tisch zu 2 im wunderschönen Hintergarten. Essen, insbesondere die Flammkuchen waren toll - ich hatte einen Flammkuchen “Super Food”, der total lecker war. Die Aperitifs und der Wein perfekt. Super nette Bedienung …. und zu guter Letzt ein prima Preis/Leistungsverhältnis.
