I spontaneously decided to have lunch at the Schwarzer Bock today. I enjoyed a delicious Schäuferla bowl, homemade lemonade, and a very good espresso. The service was friendly and welcoming. Until next time!

We were there "only" for dinner: Simply fantastic! The food (venison) was exceptionally good, the atmosphere wonderful, and we thought it was excellent that everything was organic. The service was also more than attentive and struck the perfect balance between being present and being discreet. We will definitely come back and can highly recommend the Schwarzer Bock. Thank you for the lovely evening!

Great place to have some German food and its open no stop! Perfect option for hungry tourists that don't want to wait until 17hrs to grab a meal. Very welcoming staff and tasty food.

We recently spent another long weekend in Ansbach at the Schwarzen Bock Hotel with our dog. The rooms are very clean, tastefully furnished, and individually decorated; a treat and a dog bed were provided. The breakfast and the à la carte meals in the restaurant are absolutely delicious and organic. We feel very welcome and comfortable there. The location is perfectly central, and there is ample parking. We would love to come back again!

The parking space right outside is very convenient. It's released upon check-in. Unfortunately, other hotel guests were very noisy at night and during departure – the hotel can't be held responsible for that. The rooms are charmingly furnished. Booking through their website was the cheapest option, and the available add-ons were excellent. Since only my husband eats breakfast, that was all we could book. The reception staff were very attentive and checked to make sure that was okay.

We visited the inn on a recommendation. The Schwarze Bock (Black Buck) is beautifully situated in a central yet quiet location, making a great impression with its architecture and setting. Despite arriving with a three-year-old child and a large dog, we received a warm and attentive welcome and service. Our child was given a comfortable chair, and the dog was immediately provided with a water bowl. We also enjoyed a pleasant conversation with the owners. The food (venison, goat cheese, and carp) was consistently excellent, both in preparation and taste, demonstrating that the owners and kitchen staff truly understand the importance of venison and fish. Even the schnitzel on the child's plate was given special attention. A good selection of beers completed the thoroughly positive experience. We would gladly return!

A wonderful hotel, beautiful rooms, a delicious and plentiful breakfast – what more could you want? We were also impressed by how the building was renovated to be climate-friendly. That's the right step towards the future. And regarding the "card payment only" policy: bravo, finally someone who dares to do it! We'd be happy to use it again. We ate scheufele (a type of potato dumpling) with dumplings. The ambiance is actually nice. The food, however, was less so. Almost 30 euros for scheufele—I expected something special. The dumplings were golf ball-sized, there was generally too little food on the plate, and the taste was just like home cooking. I certainly wasn't full for the exorbitant price. In the end, I couldn't even pay in cash; they only accept cards. And to top it all off, the service was unfriendly. Every change to the order costs extra. I felt like I was being served by someone who was clearly in charge. I'll never go there again; there are definitely better restaurants in Ansbach.

Wonderfully located in the heart of Ansbach. Parking is available for €12, and you can charge your electric car there after registering. Super comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast, delicious organic quality.

We loved staying at Schwarzer Bock! We recently moved to the area and stayed at the hotel for a full week while our place was being set up. The room was spacious and the building had a lot of traditional charm. Their restaurant is also amazing – it was our first German meal of our move... to die for. Additionally, the owners were very kind and conversational. They were helpful with directions, the language, and ideas for enjoying the city. For such a big move for my husband and me, the owners made it feel like home. We really appreciated it. We will be back for an anniversary dinner or two!

We can't comment on the hotel itself, as we only ate lunch at the restaurant 🥗 The dining room is inviting and very cozy; it's a very pleasant place to sit. The lunch menu offers a good selection of dishes, so everyone should definitely find something to their liking 👍🏼 With one exception, the dishes we ordered were very tasty. The small salad to start was crisp and filling, the currywurst with homemade sauce and fries was excellent, and the apple strudel with vanilla ice cream for dessert was also fantastic. The lentils with Spätzle, however, were a bit disappointing: The Spätzle were pan-fried (presumably to reheat the already cooked Spätzle), and the almost surgically cut root vegetables and the taste of the lentils themselves made us suspect that it wasn't entirely homemade. The flavor was okay, though. The service was polite and attentive, and the prices were fair. What more could you want? ✔️ All in all, a pretty solid performance.

We had lunch at the Schwarzer Bock with our neighbors and were absolutely delighted! The selection was very diverse, our requests were fully accommodated, and the sequence of courses was perfectly coordinated. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality – we will definitely be back!

Will we come back again? NO. The hotel is seriously dated and not particularly well-maintained. Sprucing things up with "colorful and inexpensive decorations" doesn't make things any better, and it's completely cluttered. Regardless, there were cobwebs everywhere, someone's hair on the bathroom tiles. The bathroom exhaust fan rattled. Why? Look at the photo, it's a real shock... Do you want that? NO. Upon entering the guesthouse, you're initially in the dark, as the motion detector is installed further back in the hallway. The corridor from the reception to the terrace area is unkempt, with weeds, leaves, and lots of junk everywhere... Do you want that? NO. They charge a hefty fee for the dog per night; there was neither a dog blanket nor bowls for it; instead, sleeping on the cool linoleum floor was an imposition for the dog... The food - meh. I closed my eyes and ate it, especially the pork bowl with the soft fries, which was a real nuisance. It certainly wasn't filling after a long day at work. The open white wine in a glass (please, we only want that in the Palatinate at a wine festival with good wine...) tasted sour, and there weren't any other open wines available, only bottles :-(. When we asked for a Baileys on ice, we even got a glass. But the waiter pointed out that it was just some leftover, and that they wouldn't be offering it in the future, as they would only be serving organic products (note: all coffee and tea in tablets, very organic and very sustainable...). Nice waiter, very engaging, but a bit clumsy. When paying, the waiter asked us whether it was cash or card... Uh, we thought they only took cards. The answer was: "The boss, yes, but I'll take cash too... Uh, it says everywhere that they only take cards... Someone should understand that!!! And oh yeah, the restroom is actually only accessible with a code, oh dear... :-( Guys, guys, where have we gotten to in Old Germany and in a former old-fashioned restaurant... No, they don't want that. Not us! We promise ourselves the excellent hospitality in nearby Austria. Unfortunately, passing through from there was another culture shock... Regardless of these disappointments, parking in the large, dark parking lot behind the old town wall/building was simply creepy; we fully expected our cars to be broken into the next day (which, thankfully, wasn't the case)... During our evening stroll, there was nowhere to stop for a nightcap on any of the old town streets, as the hotel restaurant had run out of wine... What a shame, actually a good location and a beautiful old town... I'll definitely leave the owner's response here, because it says more than our written review...

Very pleasant owners, lovely, quiet hotel in the pretty town of Anspach. Good local beer, and excellent dinner and breakfast, all organic and homemade! Typical Franconian hospitality!

Unfortunately, the restaurant is no longer convincing. We used to enjoy coming here with the whole family. Now, unfortunately, watery sauces and overcooked vegetables dominate. Everything seems a bit poorly seasoned and not very tasty. However, the price is relatively high. A scoop of ice cream (mint cucumber) tasted only of cream and had a gritty texture. After a small spoonful, this was noted and returned. Nevertheless, the small scoop was added to the bill at €3.95. That's fine, but I don't think true hospitality looks like that.

This hotel provided a fantastic stay. The staff was kind and helpful. Also, they were eager to assist you with whatever needs you had. The reception was closed for 2 days (Wednesday & Thursday) during my stay. However, there was a young lady who was present to respond to guests. I am very happy with my stay and recommend this hotel highly.

Hotel Restaurant Schwarzer Bock was the best restaurant we have visited in Germany! Superb food, drink and service.

It was a delightful hotel and restaurant located near the old city center. The dinner was romantic and delicious, and contained several regional specialties. The breakfast was exceptionally full. Our room looked over the rear gardens. The service was excellent - they were patient with my German and fluent in English. I wish the bed had a top sheet instead of just a coverlet and blanket, but that may be normal in Franconia.

In the immediate vicinity of the hotel is mostly beautiful old town.

We only had dinner. I wouldn't recommend it. The service was abysmal. The table wasn't set. There was only one wine by the glass. When I asked for alternatives and didn't like the service, the owner told me I could pay for the drinks and skip the meal or leave. I've never experienced anything like it! Even if you want other side dishes, you have to pay an extra €4.

Overall, it was quite nice; the rooms were lovingly furnished. However, the portable air conditioning in the room is unfortunately a no-go. When it's on, you can't sleep or make phone calls. Perhaps an external installation would be more suitable; there's plenty of space for it.

We spent one night at this hotel and were completely satisfied. The room was beautifully furnished—stylish, spacious, and with great attention to detail. The central location in the heart of Ansbach was another major plus. Sights, restaurants, and shops were all within easy walking distance. A highlight was how the local Franconian history was incorporated into the hotel's design and atmosphere—be it through lovingly selected decorative elements, historical quotes, or brief information about the region. Everything was very clean and well-maintained, the bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the bathroom left nothing to be desired. Overall, a very welcoming atmosphere in which we immediately felt at home. We can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

A very nice inn serving regional, organic cuisine. A nice selection of dishes and a great lunch menu. The ambiance in the restaurant is very pleasant, and the service is also very pleasant. Modern yet traditional. We were there for lunch, and there's also a great selection for dinner or something more hearty!

The hotel has very nice interiors and a lot of thought process has been put into designing the hotel. The rooms were super clean and spacious. The reception people were very welcoming and helpful. I had a really nice time at this beautiful property and i would love to visit again.

Hotel is very centrally located in Ansbach, rooms very clean and colorfully renovated. A little too dark for my taste. The storage options in the bathroom and room are very limited. Breakfast was very good with fresh food and freshly boiled eggs. Very good value for money for Ansbach. We would book the hotel again.

We were only there to eat. The food was great, portions were big enough to fill you up and the service was also impeccable. Accordingly, the prices were a bit higher. There is a very large selection of high quality spirits.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience today. I bought a candlelight voucher in December 2023 and wanted to make an appointment today. The voucher is valid for one year. The 1 year is almost over now. (The vouchers are often valid for 3 or 4 years) I then immediately offered to pay the surcharge for the increased prices. But the answer was, the voucher has expired and is therefore 100% void. I'm speechless. I will never buy a voucher here again... A good deal with the unredeemed vouchers with the short expiry period.

This is a nice hotel, it's in a great location if you want to see Ansbach up close. Due to a mix up with the terms and conditions we were not allowed to end our visit early, that was unfortunate and for this reason I can't recommend this hotel. If you do decide to stay here make sure you read and understand the terms and conditions.

We only had dinner in the restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and served immediately. The order was placed without waiting time and with an explanation if questions were asked. The beer was delicious and the food was made with fresh ingredients. The “Stramme Max” was a small but tasty surprise. The sauerbraten is recommended. Using the restaurant app, you can place orders yourself, call the waiter to your table or view the bill. A visit to the restaurant is recommended.

Thank you for this great stay! We stayed at the Schwarzen Bock for an overnight stay with a candlelight dinner in November 2024. From arrival to check-out we were treated in an incredibly friendly manner. Our room was small and very comfortable with an absolutely clean and well-equipped bathroom. Next to the reception there was an additional room where you could have coffee and tea at any time. The lovingly designed candle light dinner in the cozy restaurant room was vegan according to our wishes. With 3 courses there were 2 options to choose from. The dishes we chose were really excellent. For breakfast we were able to tick what we would like on a list the night before. Here too, our vegan wishes were absolutely fulfilled! Ansbach itself is also a beautiful little town that is definitely worth a visit. We took a short guided tour of the beautiful residence and then went for a walk in the castle gardens. Overall, a wonderful short trip.

This hotel is very very nice. Comfy beds and pillows. Nice bathroom and the extra bed space for my daughter with her own door was such a treat! She loved having her private space. :) The owner and family were all very nice as well. Very welcoming and spoke AMAZING English. Highly recommend! There is a little trick to get to the hotel if you are in a car, but otherwise everything was perfect.

Für solche unglaublichen Preise gibt es in Franken keine Rechtfertigung - auch nicht wenn man sich BIO-WIRTSHAUS nennt. Leider verirrt, aber sicher nur das eine Mal!!!

Short business stay for 2 days: Room clean and odor-free, extravagantly furnished with colorful wallpaper, wooden floor, large bed and chaise longue. It looks a bit "crusty" towards the "work table", but that's just how I feel. The bathroom is very clean and an eye-catcher with the colorful tiles... French breakfast (1 organic croissant, 1 paper cup of organic coffee) for to go €9.90 (wow!) Breakfast buffet with cheese slices, feta, ham and salami slices, muesli, yoghurt, coffee, milk and scrambled/fried eggs, croissants, rolls, all organic on site for around €25 (just OK in the restaurant). Dinner (game pot) was delicious, I can recommend it! Apple strudel: it was too dry, too thick (because it was warmed up too long?) What a shame! Wi-Fi good in the room, very slow in the restaurant... Otherwise a very nice, family-run hotel in the middle of the old town with parking in front of the house (booking extra, that's ok!) My recommendation: stay overnight and have dinner, yes, breakfast at the bakery around the corner...

When we are in Ansbach it is almost a must visit. Always happy, nice service, great food, which does not correspond to the standard in an extravagant ambience and stands out from the crowd thanks to its freshness, organic certification and ingenuity. The homemade game specialties are available as an extra for game lovers. Reasonably priced and we'll be happy to stop by again and again. 👍 Keep it up! 🫶

We found this little restaurant and hotel while looking for a place to have a beer Sunday after church. When we initially walked in the waiter explained that they were just getting ready for their afternoon break (45 minutes), but still accommodated us to sit down to have a beer. While we weren’t planning on eating there as we had originally only been looking for a place to have a drink, after being there as long as we were, we decided to have some food. The beer was excellent and filling, as was the organic wild sausages!! It’s a very friendly place as we had long conversations with the waiter and another customer who was there with her dog!! Even though we haven’t stayed at the hotel to have that experience, we look forward to doing so in the future!!

When I wanted to eat there, it was listed as open online. The landlord said no, he had to take a break now and should leave the restaurant. I wasn't allowed to use the toilet either because I wasn't a guest. Unimaginable. Never ever again. Unfriendly innkeeper. Answer to the landlord's comment and for future customers: I found out online beforehand when the opening times are. Unfortunately the online reservation system didn't work from the highway. I also read the note about the break at the inn. Our visit to the inn was after the “legal” break announced online. Open all the time. With a little friendliness and sensitivity towards guests or potential customers, the Schwarzer Bock inn would also receive a better rating.

The ambience is beautiful and unique, you immediately feel comfortable and welcome. The service is very friendly and attentive, which makes the visit even more pleasant. And the food? Just really good! Every dish was a delight. All in all a wonderful experience – I would love to come back!

I very much enjoyed my stay here for 12 nights. The bed was very comfortable and allowed me to rest well after a day's work. The proprietors are very friendly and very eager to make sure you have what you need to enjoy your stay with them. I would definitely return here is I have business again in the future in Ansbach.

We wanted to be there on October 3rd. (Day of German Unity) went out to eat with 8 people, and by phone they said it would be open again at 3 p.m. We were there at three quarters and asked if we could sit down and go to the toilet. Answer: the break today lasts until 3:15 p.m. and there is a public toilet 100m away… The almost €300 turnover was made by Chillies, which by the way is highly recommended (i.e. Chillies). Too bad.

Not recommended! Not for the faint of heart. Hunting community with rifles and dogs dominated the house. Shot game was carried openly through the house. Even reception digitizes everything. It felt like the staff and owners only cared about themselves. The garden was unkempt. In the evening, meat was grilled and celebrated outside in the courtyard until around 11:30 a.m. We had to keep the windows closed. It smelled like grilled meat everywhere. Ansbach residents said the restaurant was too expensive and not recommended. Room in the garden house. When it was completely dark, the lights had to be turned on during the day. Visitors who wanted to use the toilet had to pay five euros! The hotel's website does not correspond to what you find here. In any case, we would never come back. We found nicer things here in the city.

We received a very friendly welcome at the Hotel Schwarzer Bock. Our car was right in front of the house - you should reserve it. The entire hotel specializes in organic food and uses the covered terrace as an energy source (solar cells). Our room was in the courtyard garden. A truly exceptionally furnished room. The windows are completely surrounded by vines. It's a bit dark in the room but there are various nice lamps. The bowl dishes on the menu immediately appealed to me and I ate them at both dinners. Yummy! The entire meal is geared towards healthy nutrition with regional offerings.

Perhaps guests are otherwise treated politely here, I wanted to use the toilet before visiting the restaurant and was told off that this was not a public toilet. The overly rule-conscious lady stuck to her guns and kept the toilet closed, even though I had pointed out that I wanted to go to the restaurant afterwards; So I left with guests and unfortunately we spent our money elsewhere. Addendum due to the unfriendly answer: At least we had already chosen a dish from the menu and just wanted to wait the short time until the restaurant opened (approx. 15 minutes). I absolutely cannot understand why you as a guest are not allowed to use the toilet during this waiting period; but well, it's your way of dealing with customers; Your success proves you are right and I have peace of mind...

A great hotel right in the city center. The hotel has parking spaces, you should definitely reserve one if you want one. I was here on business but had my bike with me. The entire hotel is organic. This is also reflected in the menu. The food tasted very good and the service was very friendly and courteous. The room was clean and modernly furnished. You can go on great bike tours and the hotel had an electricity filling station for several e-bikes. The bikes are in the courtyard, so you can leave them overnight.

Ate there. All organic. The meal was good, sufficient and reasonably priced. A meal was good but uncomplicated and therefore a bit too expensive in my opinion.

Everything is perfect here, from the warm welcome, parking, quiet room with air conditioning, excellent food and drink and great value for money.

This is a great hotel…from the staff, food and to the downtown location. Very professional, accommodating and top-notch staff members…they are very kind and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. The two of us sat in the Schwarzen Bick today. The quality was subpar and absolutely overpriced. There were two other people there besides the two of us. Even some bread, crème fraîche and tomato cream cost 6.95 E. In other equivalent restaurants, the bread and a greeting from the kitchen are included. Unfortunately the food didn't taste good at all! A pity!!!! We had made a special reservation!

Unabhängig von der Qualität der Speisen und deren Preis, wurden wir noch nie in unserem Leben in einem Restaurant so unfreundlich behandelt. Und das auch noch vom Geschäftsführer (Inhaber) persönlich. War es beim ersten Mal die Art und Weise, wie auf eine Kritik der Speisen (Schäufele) reagiert wurde, weigerte sich dieses Mal der Chef unseren Tisch getrennt abzurechnen, da dies in der Online Reservierung auch so aufgeführt und somit akzeptiert wurde. Es könne nur der gesamte Tisch abgerechnet und mit der Girokarte bezahlt werden. Eine Aufteilung auf zwei Karten, also getrennte Bezahlung akzeptierte er nicht. Es zahlte dann unser Bekannter und wir gingen danach noch an einen Bankomat in der Nähe, um untereinander abzurechnen. Sowas habe ich, der wirklich viel Reise Erfahrung hat, vorher noch nie erlebt.

Im Schwarzen Bock Bio Restaurant in der Altstadt von Ansbach haben wir nicht eine so erstklassige Bio-Küche erwartet, da die Speisen eher typisch fränkisch sind. Die umfangreiche Auswahl an Bioweinen und das selbst gebrautem Bier haben absolut begeistert. Die Bioweine sind leider strikt aus Franken und der Pfalz, Weingütern aus Frankreich oder Italien fehlen – schade. Für Bierliebhaber bietet das Restaurant neben hausgebrautem Bier auch eine Auswahl an Bieren vom Fass in Bio. Die Kombination aus erstklassiger Bio-Küche, Bioweinen und selbst gebrautem Bier schafft ein wirklich einzigartiges Erlebnis, das in der gemütlichen und authentischen Atmosphäre genießen konnten und danach direkt ins Bett gefallen sind – sehr schön alles. Einziger Haken für Franken, es ist vielleicht einen Euro teurer.

Very tasty food, especially the schnitzel is recommended!

I had the pleasure of visiting Bio Wirtshaus Schwarzer Bock and my experience was simply great! The freshly caught trout fillet with potatoes and Bavarian organic butter was a real treat. The simplicity of the ingredients highlighted the quality of the fish, which really impressed me. Dessert, homemade ice cream with Baumkuchen, rounded off the culinary experience perfectly. The service was equally remarkable. The staff was extremely friendly, polite and attentive. They took the time to make sure every guest was happy without leaving others waiting. Overall, I felt very comfortable at the Bio Wirtshaus Schwarzer Bock and will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

If you like to sleep with the window open, please say so when checking in. The windows in the main house are closed (due to the air conditioning). Very attentive service. Organic quality in food, drinks and personal care products. I would love to come back!

On the 10.03.24 this sweet-looking local Restaurant captured our eyes, however our impression changed as soon as we sat down at one of the available tables. The Waiter working there bluntly told us the kitchen is closed (no greeting, no apology). I asked if I were allowed to use the bathroom quickly. The waiter yelled back it was only for guests. I replied calmy that we wanted to be guests but can't because we were told the kitchen is closed, and that I was willing to pay to use the bathroom. He yelled back, saying they were closed... There were still guests eating in the Restaurant I have never experienced such treatment in a Restaurant

Tolle Qualität, angemessene Preise für Bio (deutlich höher als im Rest von Franken) , traditionelle Atmosphäre, interessante Speisekarte, guter Service. Leider nur online reservierbar, war etwas schwierig von unterwegs. Weinauswahl auf die Region beschränkt, aber gut. Gute Auswahl egal ob Fleisch wie viel Wild aus eigener Jagd und vegan für meinen Begleiter. Zufrieden und begeistert!

Absolute Katastrophe. Teuer, sehr schlechtes Essen. Scheibar vieles aus der Packung. Hat mit gehobener Gastronomie gar nichts zu tun. Preis und Leistung passen gar nicht. Kann man nicht empfehlen. Mehr Schein als Sein.

Estamos impactados con la bella decoración de sus cuartos, es atendido por su propietario, el personal hablan inglés perfecto y español perfecto. La limpieza de sus cuartos llena de detalles de bienvenida y la comida es deliciosa y aparte todo fresco y certificado orgánica en el restaurante. Siempre qué vengamos a Alemania será nuestra primer opción.

Unser Zimmer war sehr überfrachtet mit unterschiedlichen Demoartikeln und wirkte dadurch krustelig. Das Badezimmer könte eine Renovierung vertragen.

Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt im Schwarzen Bock! Ich komme gerne wieder.

9 Reklamationen am Abreisetag mitgeteilt, 5 davon waren Mangelhaft. Schade, dass man vor der Zimmerübergabe keine Kontrolle durchgeführt hat.

Außer Wildspezialitäten gibt es hier sehr leckeres vegetarische und vegane Speisen! Wir kommen gerne wieder
