Yesterday, as a wonderful end to our holiday in the Harz Mountains, with its sunny spots, the delicious food was truly recommended. The gypsy schnitzel, schnitzel hollandaise, and the homemade aspic were truly delicious. Thank you also for the very friendly and helpful service; we felt very comfortable. 🤗

I ate there with my partner today, and we were both thrilled. We each had a schnitzel and a drink. In the end, we only paid €30. The food tasted like grandma's, and all the ingredients were fresh. The quality of the food was simply top-notch, and many restaurants could learn a thing or two from that. The service was nothing to complain about; it was very friendly and everything was on point. We highly recommend it and will gladly return.

We happened to pass through Straßberg today while looking for a restaurant at 2:30 p.m. Many were closed or no longer existed. Then we came to the Bergschänke. We had a very good meal there in a lovely setting and received exceptionally friendly service. All in all, SUPER, and at reasonable prices, too. Thank you so much for this, and continued success. We'll definitely be back when we're back in the Harz 😃

We have to be honest and say we were absolutely thrilled with the staff, which was great, the food was great, the drinks were great, and the atmosphere was great! Not to mention the super prices! We highly recommend it! Go there and have a great time!

Great food and first-class service, even our dog was welcome

My wife and I booked a hotel room in Wernigerode and then set off on an adventure in the Harz Mountains. The evening before, we studied the menu to see where we could eat game dishes and chose that. Well, if you're passing by. Hey, guys, go eat there. It was packed, we asked if there was room for the two of us. Of course, a very nice host until the very end. We also spoke with the kind soul in the kitchen, and I asked if I could take photos of the food. That's just how it is. Answer: not just take photos, but enjoy the food, and I did. She then came back and wanted to know if it was good. Well, that's a bit of an understatement, it was very good. By the way, there was a salad plate with the schnitzel, which I couldn't photograph; it was brought out and was already gone. Fresh and very tasty. I'm advertising for these two lovely people.

We visited the Bergschänke restaurant as a family. All in all, a very good restaurant with German cuisine and exceptionally friendly service. When we arrived, it was half an hour before the kitchen closed, but despite a short wait, we were still assigned a table. The food is like "Grandma's Kitchen" and was completely convincing. The cook even came to our table and chatted with us briefly. You could tell that the cooking here is done with heart and, above all, knowledge. Accordingly, not only does the service category receive top marks (5/5), but the food was also really good with 4.7/5. Only the ambiance is not exceptionally good, but it still receives a pleasant and clean rating of 3.7/5. The price/performance ratio is absolutely perfect; we can only recommend it. This results in an average of 4.5, although we round up to 5 stars for the overall impression.

We drove here from Friedrichsbrunn because of the positive reviews. The food was absolutely delicious 😋 and the value for money was excellent. If you want good, affordable food, you have to stop here. The staff was very friendly.

A typical village inn, in a good way. The decor is rustic, simple, clean, and tidy. The staff is direct but friendly. Just what you'd expect from a small village inn. This continues with the food. They serve exactly what you'd expect, plus a few regional game specialties. It's not Michelin-starred cuisine, but then again, you don't expect that, and most importantly: it tastes good! The price is also completely reasonable. We paid around €55 for three main courses and drinks for three people. We just happened to pass by here at lunchtime and stopped spontaneously because we were hungry. And we didn't regret it. Since we drive this route once a year, we'll be stopping here for a break in the coming years.

Super delicious 😋 food! We ate here four times during our Harz holiday and were never disappointed. Everything is freshly prepared, so you're welcome to wait a bit! It's best to reserve a table if possible. It's often very busy, which probably speaks volumes about the good food. The service is always cheerful, even when things get hectic.

After a short hike, we were thirsty and found the Bergschänke (mountain tavern). It was quite busy. The tables were well occupied, and the dishes all looked delicious. We just had a drink and then moved on. But we really should come back here for dinner. The schnitzel for €14.10 is worth trying.

The food is a culinary delight, and this cuisine is especially recommended. The venison roast with dumplings is a poem.

Today we hiked from Neudorf to Straßberg and had lunch at the Bergschänke. The restaurant is very nice, clean and cozy, the couple is very friendly and personable. The food is fresh and everything is homemade, nothing was out of a bag, and very tasty. We are thrilled and will definitely come back to eat here on our next holiday in our holiday home.

It was very tasty, well fried and hot. The ambience is not current, but the prices are right. It was clean, not noisy and focused on the essentials: friendly, fast service and delicious food. A restaurant that we would happily recommend.

Even though the chances of getting a table in the restaurant without an appointment are even smaller, I can't help but sing the highest praises of the Bergschänke. The food is delicious, the service friendly, and the place is definitely worth a visit. Before or after your meal/coffee, you can explore the surrounding area on beautiful circular trails, hike to one of the many reservoirs or ponds, or learn about the history of silver mining on educational trails, at the many information boards, and by visiting the silver mine, which is within walking distance. On the way there, you can see the Brocken in the distance. The highlight of a visit to the Bergschänke is the cheesecake (sometimes called Quarkkuchen), baked fresh daily and served lukewarm. Topped with whipped cream, it stays in your memory for days and begs you to try it again.

We discovered you by chance. Even though we hadn't made a reservation and it was super full, we still managed to find two seats. Thank God, because we had an excellent meal with you. We can only recommend spiced meat, roast venison and roast wild boar. We were served very kindly, there was even some time for a few personal words... and this was despite the restaurant being full. Luckily we only live an hour away so we can try out the menu 😅. We are already looking forward to the next time. (Maybe I'll lick the plate then 😉😉😉.). We discovered the inn by chance on a Harz tour and are absolutely thrilled: The cuisine is first class. We had wild boar and wild goulash with dumplings. It couldn't be better! Delicious. Also outstanding in terms of price-performance. Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Whenever we spend a few days on vacation in the Harz, we stop at the Bergschänke at least once. Very nice landlady, food very lovingly prepared and very, very tasty! Prices are absolutely okay. We look forward to next time.

Very rustic restaurant with GDR charm with really well prepared food. Everything tasted excellent. We had spiced meat and goose leg with Brussels sprouts/red cabbage and fried potatoes/dumplings. The innkeeper was very nice and friendly. In short.....highly recommended.
