Bergamotto in Berlin

If you just want to drink something this is not the place to go. With empty tables and they send you out on a quiet Sunday evening.

When we arrived at the restaurant on Whit Monday shortly before 9 pm, we were given the worst table, even though better tables were available (and remained so). Our table was right next to the bar, and we were treated to all the kitchen noises and the staff's private conversations. We ordered a portion of spaghetti Bolognese and a pizza, plus soft drinks. The drinks arrived immediately. After 40 minutes, we still hadn't received our food. Other guests who arrived after us and were seated outside were served before us. I asked the waiter if he had forgotten about us. He said he hadn't. When would our food arrive? He didn't know. I told him we'd been there for 40 minutes, at which point the blonde woman from the kitchen chimed in and said it was taking so long because the pasta was being freshly prepared (?) and, besides, the waiter had already indicated that it would take longer today (a lie). She, too, couldn't tell us when our food would arrive. All of this was delivered in an unfriendly and disrespectful tone. Afterwards, we lost our appetite and left. We paid eight euros for a large Coke and a small Sprite.

We received very friendly service, and the food was excellent. I'm happy to pay accordingly for good quality. The saddle of lamb was outstanding, as were the other dishes. We felt very comfortable and would gladly return. The restaurant was well-filled, and everything overall was very harmonious.

It one of the worst experiences I had in the restaurant. First, considering the price of a truffle pizza (24€), I did expected much more from it. In the end, pizza was ok, with few drops of truffle oil, so I asked for more, which was excepted with annoyance from the server. The server was reacting rude towards my friend, to which he brought wrong food, and when she rejected it, he's reaction was: "it's still the same thing, it has mushrooms." And:"can I serve now other tables". Also the cook was rude. I wouldn't recommend this place. Prices are too high for what they are offering and service is rude.

The service was a disaster! You're used to rudeness in Berlin, but this was simply a disgrace. I ordered truffle-filled dumplings and received a plate of spaghetti with truffles and porcini mushrooms. I immediately said it wasn't the right dish, and the waiter said, "But it's still truffle-flavored." After a discussion, he took it back and brought me, well, "the right thing." When I asked for a spoon and bread, he reluctantly broke it and then said, "Do you want anything else, or can I go and see the other guests?" We went inside to pay, as, of course, no one else was coming. He rounded up the amount on his own initiative and only gave us 20 euros. We waited, then he said snippily, "Any more?" Then he said, "Yes, we're missing 3 euros." As we left, he called after us, "How generous." Simply a disgrace! Definitely not worth a visit.

We've always enjoyed eating here in the past. Unfortunately, one of the servers is very rude, and the value for money is no longer good (€18 for a pizza). It's a shame, as there are much better Italian restaurants in the area.

It's a shame, really. The owner barks at his guests like an East German ice skating coach at her protégés who return from vacation overweight. I've never met such an unfriendly Italian. Go to the competitor across the street. You'll get a warm welcome there, and the food is much better, too.

Very tasty food; pizzas, lasagna, and risotto were excellent, and the portions were also very large! The prices were probably a bit more expensive than usual in Berlin. We started with white bread, olive oil, and olives on the house. The garden behind the house is a comfortable and relaxed place to sit; you don't feel like you're in a big city; it's very pleasant. The service seemed a bit lackluster and overwhelmed.

Shockingly bad food Seven of us came here for dinner. The service was nice and genuinely friendly. Unfortunately, the food was worse than I've ever experienced in Berlin. The avocado with prawns and salad was more like tomato sauce with avocado, completely tasteless scampi, and limp greens. The spaghetti neri was also good, with the same bland scampi and the same terrible tomato sauce. The pizza was okay, but at €18, it was completely overpriced. It's hard to believe such a restaurant can exist.

It's simply beautiful here, inside and out, like a vacation. The food is always delicious, authentic Italian cuisine. The chef always comes up with something new. Be sure to make a reservation.

It's a place where you don't feel like you're in a big city. There's no hustle and bustle. The service was very friendly. The food was delicious.

We initially pre-ordered two pizzas by phone. When we arrived after 10 minutes, we were very rudely informed that we were much too early. When he asked me to pay, he told me, as agreed, €36?!!!?? for a salami pizza and a pizza with a little bit of buffalo??!! On the way home, we checked their website again; the pizzas were supposed to cost €30 together, which would have been very expensive. They must have disliked us, and that's why the pizza now costs €6 more 😁 The pizza was okay in the end—not particularly good, not particularly bad. But for €36, I would have expected it to be decorated with gold leaf 😀

We were truly pleasantly surprised by the food. There's an interesting daily specials menu with something for everyone. We had the best tuna we've had in a long time. Cooked to perfection, juicy, and not dry as is unfortunately often the case. The appetizer plate with excellent burrata and the crème brûlée with bergamot liqueur were also special. A family atmosphere and relatively inexpensive for the quality.

The place is ok, although I wouldn't consider it too iconic. Just an Italian restaurant, the likes of which can be found in many parts of the world. The pizza is quite good, the appetizers are a bit worse. The service was definitely a plus, it was friendly.

It used to be much better. The price/performance ratio is no longer good. We were there again recently, and I have to say, overall we were disappointed. Some of the dishes were very good, but the pasta, for example, was dry and boring. The most annoying thing, however, was the service. The woman was friendly, but ultimately overwhelmed, which was partly due to the fact that she couldn't serve all the guests properly on her own. Her comments about the wine were unhelpful. Our wine was noticeably too warm. In the end, we wanted a dessert selection for everyone. After I asked about it, she said they weren't actually available anymore, but she wanted to ask. In the end, we got a small plate with three mini portions of dessert for one person. :( Overall, the experience was rather annoying given the prices.

Siamo stati due sere consecutive. Vero ristorante Italiano, cucina dai sapori genuini e prodotti di qualità. Ambiente caldo e accogliente, grazie allo staff e alla presenza del proprietario Vincenzo che ti accoglie con il sorriso pronto a soddisfare ogni richiesta. Un angolo paradisiaco all'uscita della metro friedenau.

Nice atmosphere, great summer evening. We shared the delicious appetizer platter. Then parmigiana and swordfish. Good quality. House wine, delicious. Good Value... All in all a successful evening

We were there after a funeral as a group of relatives and friends of the deceased. A quaint restaurant right next to the Friedenau SBhf. You can hear the S-Bahn passing by but it doesn't bother you.

Nice to sit down, friendly service, the pizza is big and OK, but overpriced. For 13 euros I would have been happy, but for 18 euros and more the pizza had to be exceptionally good, and it wasn't.

Good restaurant with decent cuisine and good wines. A little more expensive is also a little better here. In summer a garden invites you (my 'review about 6 years ago) Now currently in August 2024: Still great, we had great dishes, quality was first class, although everything was overcrowded, the service was at the limit, but worked well and was friendly.

We really enjoyed the food, we had a great time on the terrace...the nice waitress was attentive and very friendly, we'll be back ;)

When I used to live in Friedenau, I would buy pizza from here from time to time. My favorite was Bianca. It was one of my favorite pizzas in Berlin. Unfortunately, things have changed. Not only they removed Bianca from the menu, but their quality and taste decreased to -at most- average. Te pastry was very bland, the pizza did not seem to have spent a good time in the oven, the tomato sauce tasted like the ones that are sold on supermarket. The only nice thing was the burrata. What a shame. Maybe they changed cook or owners :(

Seit vielen Jahren eine italienische sehr gute Küche mit sehr viel Herz. Ich freue mich bei jeden Berlin Besuch auf Abende im Bergamotto. Das Filet hat auch am dritten Abend hervorragend geschmeckt. Danke und Kompliment an den Gastgeber Enzo und das Service Team

Consistently high quality and always very friendly service. But rather expensive.

My husband and I were there with our two children, who also like to do a bit of nonsense. Everyone was still incredibly friendly and accommodating and we really enjoyed it. The food was really delicious and we didn't have to wait long. We can warmly recommend it!

Anyone who appreciates good food, a nice atmosphere and a staff that does their best to the best of their abilities, which is not up to the Berlin average - will feel at home here. Unfortunately, the quality of the service is diametrically opposed to the food. (The service spoiled our evening - a real shame!)

A restaurant to my liking - small, cozy, fun and with very good food. There is always something special here: on the chalkboard or on the recommendation card or even in the regular menu. This time I chose a perfectly cooked lamb fillet with buttery rosemary potatoes and fresh green beans. A poem! Not only the main courses, but also the starters and desserts are really fine and delicious. Of course, all of this has its price - but for those on a smaller budget there is good pizza from the stone oven and lovingly prepared pasta dishes. The only tiny drawback - no draft beer - is offset by a very good selection of wines, which the service staff are happy to advise on. In summer it's nice to sit on the small summer terrace at the back or outside the door. But even then you should definitely make a reservation - the "Bergamotto" is very popular and therefore very busy.

Very impolite. We were asked outside immediately after we wanted to drink something and “just” eat something small.

I've now gotten a Margherita pizza to take away twice, price €11 + €1 for extra cheese. The taste was very tasty, but the second time there was significantly less extra cheese on it (would have been without a paper plate) and the waiting time (announced for 7 minutes) ended up being over 20 minutes, even though only 2 of the 5-6 tables were occupied and that people already had food. Friendly service, but still got a strange gut feeling as to whether you would rather have full-paying people at the table (with all the trimmings for two, not less than €100). I would also have liked to have opted for a pizza with rocket and ham, but... €18 is the limit for me, so we're easily at the level of L'antica Pizzeria da Michele and they import all the ingredients from Italy and the pizza has a diameter of 34 cm with the Neapolitan Purity Law) and not just 30 cm, as is the case here with ingredients from Germany.

Locale in una piazzetta che potrei definire esclusiva,atmosfera top,cibo super! Il semifreddo al bergamotto e la pannacotta qualcosa di veramente superlativo! Super consigliato per chi vuole passare una serata in totale tranquillità e con cibo di qualità

Delicious food, super friendly service (in German, Italian or English.) Mostly locals - we sat outside on the square and it was a wonderful summer evening. Food prices are reasonable and all 5 of us were totally happy with our dishes. For payment, you need a Maestro card (NO Visa nor MasterCard) which is based on the owner not wanting to pay the 2.5% fees.

Schönes italienisches Restaurant mit leckeren Gerichten. Allerdings dauert es auffällig lange bis das Gericht am Tisch landet. Es gab freundliche aber auch unfreundliche Kellner.

Leider sehr unfreundliches Personal! Lange Wartezeiten und hohe Preise! Stammkunden scheinen deutlich bevorzugt zu werden! Personal gestresst, überfordert und launisch. Ganz anders ist es gegenüber im Aputia Panzera! Der Chef Silvio ist super nett und zuvorkommen!

Tolles Mittags Menü gehabt. Mit vino, Pizza u espresso für knapp 10€ Lecker u gemütlich war es gewesen.

Wir hatten vor zwei Monaten einen Tisch bestellt und uns telefonisch zwei Tage vorher rückversichert, dass genau dieser Tisch zu dieser Uhrzeit für uns reserviert ist. Wir hatten eingeladen, waren zu viert und es war ärgerlich. Wir kamen pünktlich, der Tisch war besetzt ( Gäste hatten noch kein Essen, waren also auch erst gekommen), uns wurde ein Tisch auf dem Weg und kurz vor dem Tresen angeboten, an dem man immer vorbeiläuft, der für 6 Personen eingedeckt war. Wir fragten, ob wir zumindest am Fenster sitzen können, dort war auch ein Tisch für 6 eingedeckt, das wurde ohne großes Interesse die Situation zu lösen abgelehnt (angemessen wäre zumindest der nicht von uns reservierte und zugesagte Tisch am Fenster und ein Getränk gewesen), um es kurz zu machen, wir sind woanders gelandet, Friedenau bietet inzwischen viele gute Möglichkeiten, eine schnelle Entscheidung und das Bewusstsein, dass man nicht alles nötig hat.

Super freundliche Mädels die dort arbeiten und das Essen war sehr lecker.

von Rentnern für Rentner, Spaghetti durch und Soda heisst hier Leitungswasser, der Hinweis für den Kellner hat dazu geführt das noch mehr Leitungswasser oben drauf gegossen wurde das hab ich noch nie erlebt. Extrem desintressiert lebt anscheinend von seinen Stammgästen.

Not the best place around… even though they have pizza the bread tastes like paper… the tomatoes on the Caprese salad were colder than my beer. Instead of oil the caprese was more waterish… the table was dirty and not even considered cleaning it when I arrived. Napkins looked like somebody used them before…and then then the prices are even more uplevel. for me unfortunately not a place to go again… But I have to say there are also much better places around… service also not really worth mentioning .. sorry!

Authentische italienische Küche, familiärer Betrieb, gut erreichbar direkt an der S-Bahnstation, Aussenbereich im Sommer, hier wird man verwöhnt. Eine italienische Perle ohne chicki micki.

Next to the S Bahnhof you will find this pleasant surprise: an Italian trattoria with gusto! The inside seating is cosy, like you are welcomed into the house of an Italian Nonna. Weather permitting, I'd definitely recommend sitting on the terrace. We ordered the mozzarella salad and three vegetarian mains. Solid flavors and good portions. Do try the bergamotte aperitivo as well as the tiramisu.

Hauptsache teuer! Ein leider sehr ernüchternder Besuch: Antipasta-Teller ohne Brot und ohne extra kleine Teller, obwohl wir sie uns zu Dritt teilten. Nach der Vorspeise kamen nur zwei Hauptgerichte, obwohl wir drei Personen waren - Mitdenken oder nettes Nachfragen Fehlanzeigen, kaum eine Entschuldigung! Die Bedienung war wirklich katastrophal und inkompetent. Nach dem ungemütlichen zeitversetztem Essen kam der Espresso ohne Zucker, Nachspeisen schmeckten wie aus der Truhe bei Preisen, die ein Hauptgericht sein könnten. Zugegeben waren Antipasta und Hauptgerichte geschmacktlich nicht schlecht, die Portionen überschaubar, aber die Preise in keinster Weise angemessen sowohl für das, was auf dem Teller war als auch dem Ambiente (Gestank und Lärm aus der Küche, extrem schlechte Akustik). Schade, wieder ein Restaurant weniger zur Auswahl in Friedenau!

Sehr gute Steinofenpizza, alleine schwer zu schaffen. Der Tafelwein ist lecker und gut vom Preis Leistungsverhältnis.

Bin kurz nach 19:00h ins Restaurant um nur schnell zu fragen, ob sie auch Gutscheine verkaufen. Die Antwort des Kellners darauf: „Ich habe keine Zeit, hier ist proppenvoll“. Das war´s. Das Lokal war sehr gut besucht, stimmt. Aber so eine unprofessionelle Reaktion? Ich wäre ja auch am nächsten Tag gerne nochmal gekommen. Die Servicewüste Berlin in der Gastronomie scheint wieder zu wachsen, und (neue) Gäste werden zunehmend als nicht willkommen betrachtet und entsprechend rücksichtslos behandelt. Hier werde ich nicht mehr auftauchen. Wenn das die Absicht des Kellners war, dann gratuliere! Super Job!

Dies ist das erste Mal, dass ich einen so schlechten und unfreundlichen Service gesehen habe. Um 18.00 war das Restaurant leer, aber sie haben mich rausgeschmissen, als ich sagte, dass ich nur etwas trinken möchte.

So ein wundervoller Abend . Es goss in Strömen und gewitterte , aber wir sassen hier unter Marquisen behütet, bekamen leckeres Essen, eine entzückender Servicefrau rundete den Abend ab. Essen war lecker und im Preis/Leistungsverhältnis absolut okay. Nachtisch fanden wir überteuert, aber sonst alles prima. Der Platz, dass Ambiente sehr angenehm und bis um 23 Uhr dürften wir dort entspannt sitzen, obwohl drumherum schon zusammengestellt wurde. Einziger Nachteil: wir sind Typ Eule und hätten entspanntes Sitzen bis 24Uhr auch Klasse gefunden. Ist doch Berlin hier und nicht Provinz.

Sehr nette Atmosphäre. Freundliche Bedienung. Leider haperte es in der Küche. 25€ Entre Cote medium rare bestellt, kam well done. 20€ Steinpilz-Pasta total verkocht. Und für den Preis ist das einfach nicht ok.

Während des Lockdowns wird nun auch geliefert. Derzeit gibt es eine kleine aber feine Karte. Wir hatten einen Fenchel-Salat mit super saftigen Orangenfilets sowie zwei mal die Lasagne. Das Essen war sehr lecker, sodass wir zukünftig öfters dort bestellen werden.

Enzo Maiolo von Bergamotto, bietet jetzt seine tollen Gerichte auch zum Abholen an und liefert auch in die Nachbarschaft! Wunderbar! Ist einmal pro Woche in unserm Plan...

Lokal übervoll während der Pandemie. Wir wollten draußen sitzen, wo freie Tische waren, aber ging es nicht. Intelligenz wurde nicht gleichmäßig verteilt. Kellner langsam und unhöflich.

Einfach nett, nett, nett.... Stammlokal-Tendenz mit gutem Essen und freundlichen Mitarbeitern. Schöne Location, entspannte Atmosphäre. Gerne, gerne immer wieder.

Nice little Italien restaurant in the heart of Friedau. Hav'nt been there before so I decided to just try it and walked in. The restaurant has it's best places outside on the wide station square. It's quite cozy inside as well. The staff is very polite and just taking care of you. The food is really good. I had vitello tonato and beef medaillons. I've changed from the side order potatoes to spinach. No problem. Just done and it tasted really good. So why only 4 stars? Because the backyards is just a bit messy. Worn out. It's a pity that this nice little restaurant suffers from such a uncozy backyard. Put some lights up, clean the area and renovate the roof and the plants area. It could be a fantastic garden.... But it isn't... So overall : go there. But don't take a table in the backyard

Gutes Essen, toller Service. Wir wollten eigentlich nachschauen ob wir dieses Restaurant für eine Familie Feier buchen können. Aber das eigentliche Restaurant ist zu klein und die Halle am S Bahnhof ist uns zu groß. Das kleine Restaurant hat nicht den Schnie der bei Italieniener sonst oft üblich ist. Es ist eher so wie eine Trattoria in einem kleinen italienischen Dorf. Selbst der Hauswein war in Ordnung. Kurzum wir feiern wo anders, aber wir haben ein schönes Restaurant in der Nähe gefunden, das uns sicher wieder sieht. Und das geht nicht nur uns so, es waren viele Stammgäste da.

Ein sehr gutes kleines Restaurant, das einen Hauch von Fein mit angenehmer familiärer Atmosphäre zu verbinden versteht. Sehr gutes Essen, sehr guter Wein, sehr gutes Dessert.

Nettes italienisches Ambiente, sehr familiär.

Bei Regen sind wir hier untergeschlüpft und fanden uns gut aufgehoben.

Definitiv mein Lieblingsitaliener. Der Chef kocht meist selber. Es ist sehr lecker, gemütlich, persönlich und die wechselnde Wochenkarte ist immer gut zusammengestellt. Im Sommer kann man da schön draußen sitzen. Im Winter sollte man auf jeden Fall reservieren.

Echtes italienische Speisen mit netter Bedienung.

Der Service war zwar bemüht, aber völlig unterbesetzt. Wir haben tatsächlich 2h auf unser Essen gewartet, bis wir gegangen sind.

Das Essen war sehr lecker. Mal den Tisch abzuräumen ergab sich wohl nicht wirklich, auch nach Aufforderung. Ein Hauptgang wurde vergessen, sonst alles super!
