Food was delicious. I highly recommend the Bento Ya box. It is worthy. The service was somehow slow because of the crowd. The atmosphere was overall good.

Unfortunately the menu is based on a lot of frozen goods. The broth of the ramen is also not homemade and was very unappetizing. I had it returned, but unfortunately I still had to pay and my dissatisfaction was accepted without asking any further questions. Absolutely not recommended...

Unfortunately the restaurant was a big disappointment. Ready-made and frozen products are sold here as Japanese food. The dishes consistently lacked flavor, depth and freshness. You will be rewarded with a stomach ache.

The interior was very stuffy and smelled funny, especially the back seats. Food is not authentic, Buta-Kimchi Bento is oversalted, and I am absolutely not a fan of cheap frozen spring rolls, really unloving. Everything doesn't cost much but the quality is only moderate. At the checkout, the boss took the card directly from my friend's hand without saying anything, very rude behavior.

Food fairly well priced and in generous quantities. It has a bathroom and they are very friendly.

This is one of my absolute favourite restaurants i must recommend M35 for vegans and M26 for fried chicken and curry sauce. The cleanliness of the entire resteraunt is impeccable. The prices are so cheap and the portions are so big and filling. I would definitely recommend this place. Service is quick.

Delicious food (settings, sushi variations) at reasonable prices and brisk and attentive service. Drinks are also affordable, unlike other places in the area. We come here regularly, especially for lunch, and are happy to come back. . Keep it up!

This is another fake Japanese restaurants run by Chinese and Thai or Vietnamese. The ramen was the second worst that’ve ever had (some watery spicy MSG base with instant noodles) As someone who has spent some time in Japan, the food is fake Japanese in the best case. I had pork Gyoza which was half decent. Then I ordered a spicy miso pork/leak ramen. This is the second worst ramen that I’ve ever had. Stay away unless you’re in a rush and need to get something to eat quickly.

Dec24, we saw this shop when we check into our Munich hotel & we said we must try it. Today got the chance instead of going somewhere we decided to try & have something hot. It was excellent the hot miso soup was good for the freezing cold when we went to the castles today. The bento chicken & beef was excellent to fill our hungry stomachs. And it comes at a very reasonable price. Overall very good. Must try again before we leave. Try again today, a bit disappointed with the taking of our order. We speak English she speak German we should have speak Cantonese- anyway the food is still awesome.

Disappointed with the quality of the sushi. Rice is not suitable for sushi: it is not sticky enough, and the pieces fall apart before they are even served. The restaurant team does not seem Japanese (maybe Vietnamese)

Every year when I come to Germany for a business trip to participate in an exhibition, I will definitely come and visit. Today I ordered miso ramen/chicken fried noodles/fried dumplings. Finally eating warm noodle soup makes me feel warm

Bad service. Bad food. Miso ramen did not taste miso at all. It was just like hot water. Noodle was like race cake. Never ever come back.

Good food, cheap, friendly service

We ate here with friends a year ago and returned this evening. I’m so glad! Bento Ya does not disappoint. Delicious sushi, very friendly service, and reasonable prices. The four of us had 14 pieces of nigiri sushi (mostly hamachi — be sure to request hamachi beforehand, when making reservations, if you want it), 7 rolls, 4 miso soups, 1 edamame, and 4 drinks plus a bottle of water for a total of 160 Euro. It’s a small, simple place, but the vibe is good, largely due to the exceptionally warm staff and happy customers.

I have no idea how this place has such good reviews - the food was not good and definitely not authentic Japanese food? Everything was very overpriced and the service was subpar.

Stuck in the past but in a good way! Honestly the sushi is not fancy but the quality is amazing and the prices seem to not have been updated since 2008. Which honestly for me makes this the best place to eat sushi in munich so far. The ramen size is also incredibly good and the broth super tasty. The only thing from this first that could be improved is to let the people choose their type of nudel with the broth, I do like the normal ramen noodles way more than udon but that's just from someone that has eaten at least his on body weight in ramen in japan already.

Very, very well made, high quality sushi. The soups and pan-fried dishes are also delicious! The prices are really cheap for the quality. The restaurant is small and the furniture and decoration are a bit old, but it is suitable for having a good meal. It tends to get crowded here, so expect a slight wait. The service was very quick and friendly. Despite inflation and the location in the city center, the prices of the food are really good. The price-performance ratio is right. We love coming here!

Having lived overseas for a long time, I happened to come across this store and decided to try it. It tasted like a Japanese set meal restaurant, and I was able to immerse myself in Japan for the first time in a while. There are no Japanese employees, so Japanese people need to know English, but I don't think it will be a problem because the menu is a Romanized version of the Japanese cuisine names. I had a pleasant meal thanks to the hospitality of the employees!

My favorite sushi shop in Munich, the bento boxes and noodle dishes are also very tasty. Best reached by public transport: HS main station, then another stop with the tram to HS Karlstraße Reservation is recommended.

Affordable and decent sushi. Was a little disappointed in the yakiniku bento, but might just be that i’m not accustomed to the taste here in Germany. But the sushi was good! And very affordable Munich standards. We came at 7pm so it was peak timing. Also as me and my partner only speak English, taking our orders was a little slow.

The food we ordered was very good. The portions were appropriate for the price. We paid a total of €40 for 2 starters, 2 main courses and 2 large drinks. The restaurant is rustic and traditional. The frames and the curry are recommended.

I had the day off and was shopping in town. I ordered a Bento and a Japanese beer. I sat outside, but the inside was spacious, quiet and and nicely decorated. Service was fast and enthusiastic. Food was freshly made and quite filling. It felt like a mini vacation. 😌

Love coming here for lunch, everything is so fresh and made to order. Always have to have hot green tea and use chopsticks whenever eating Japanese. We were a group of three- starving and ordered shrimp tempura, spring rolls (no photo sorry), bento box with fried shrimp, a dragon roll (sorry we devoured it before the photo), gyoza (no photo) and a couple of plates of chicken and noodles.

Have been to this restaurant a couple times and it never disappoints. Just a few minutes walk from the Hauptbahnhof it has a variety of bento boxes, rice bowls, sushi, sashimi, noodles, and so on. I usually either get their chicken teriyaki bento box or salmon bento box. I also have tried their fried noodles and a few other things. All the ones I have tried tasted well above average, the price of their food is also not so expensive and it comes with good portions. The atmosphere is good enough with a few Japanese decorations around, they have seats both inside and outside with enough staff to handle all the tables. They are quite a famous restaurant so there are times where it might be packed and you have to wait for a while but never more than ten minutes. I went there with a friend for lunch on a typical Tuesday and immediately got a seat but most of the tables were filled. Service is also always great and satisfying, they even have a menu book in English which is definitely a plus point for people who don’t understand German and want to eat here. Definitely a great place to get Japanese food in Munich, would really recommend you to try the restaurant!

I just came back from a two-week trip to Switzerland and found that the prices in Germany are very cheap. I found a Japanese restaurant near the hotel. The meal served was Thai beef red curry rice, but it was delicious (maybe I missed Asian food too much), but it was just ordered. The rude aunt who served the meal and paid the bill was shocked.

They should be famous for their duck. Munich, you don't know what a gem you have on your hands.

Food mediocre but cheap, ramen oookaaayy... complete passage all the time. Really uncomfortable. One of the waitresses doesn't even look at you. Interior design Japanese but also Chinese, generally a bit of everything and no clear lines, but cozy. Not a recommendation but okay if there is nothing else.

I really wanted some Japanese food so I went to eat it. I think it's probably run by a Chinese person, but the food was delicious and the staff were nice. It was a very cold day, so I ended up having some hot sake.

The owners are super nice and friendly. I tried Unagi Don and it was yummy, I'll try other dishes next time!

It's a friend's favorite sushi restaurant. We were there yesterday and the sushi tasted very good again. Freshly prepared. The service is also super good. We sat outside on the street, which was relatively pleasant despite the traffic.

The Ford was really delicious and authentic. Especially the Ramen no.26. In combination with the Sushi I couldn't be more happy. The Ramen was well seasioned, the meat was so tender, and the portion was pretty big. The sushi was good. Overall the pricing of the dishes in comparision to quality cannot be better in my opinion. Arigato.

I'm lucky to have this restaurant near my hotel. The rice and noodles taste more Cantonese-style. I'm so happy to be able to eat familiar flavors in a different place.

The value for money at Bento Ya is simply unbeatable. The portion sizes are generous and the quality of the food is fantastic in relation to the price. It's rare to get such high quality dishes at such reasonable prices. You really get a lot for your money here.

Amazing value for the price! Rice dishes are big servings and very reasonably priced. I’d recommend the crispy duck! The sushi isn’t mind blowing but you won’t get much better anywhere else in the city and it’s already great for the price. The staff were also very kind and helpful even if you only speak English. I’ll definitely come again!

Update 2024: Incredible value considering that a similar rice bowl with sashimi could easily cost 20% more in supermarkets and 2x in comparable restaurants. And they are very delicious too. I can give them 10 stars for not raising the price and dropping the portion or quality like many others.

THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR TOURISTS OR NON-GERMAN SPEAKERS I speak only English, my German A1. I came to Munich for a couple of days. Today I went to this cafe with my husband and was greeted by an unfriendly middle-aged waitress. She started talking, but we didn’t understand her, although we both have basic German. But, it would be nice to emphasize, in such situations, we always find a way out, but the waitress was not in the mood to interact with us. We tried to speak English, but she made a grimace, threw the menu on the table and left. We were offended, because after a long day we purposefully went there for dinner. We immediately left, realizing that we were not welcome here. Later, I looked at the comments (with 1 star) and realized that there were many cases where waitresses were rude to foreigners and said insulting words about clients in their own language (Mandarin). Be careful when choosing a location.

Amazing small Japanese restaurant! It is crowded at night time. I ordered T16 sushi to take away and also a miso soup that cost Euro 14.80 in total. It is better than the sushi from Galeria Gourment. The staffs speak good English too but I paid with cash.

It was tasty, but unfortunately they only have one type of broth (miso or shoyu), only the toppings are different. If you just want to eat any kind of ramen, I can recommend this restaurant.
