Ben Thanh Restaurant in Berlin

Delicious food. We had fresh summer rolls and a rice dish, also with plenty of fresh veg. Great atmosphere with people sitting outside and quick service. I loved the whole street in fact - lots to choose from.

The food was very good and the price was reasonable. There were four of us and we were all thrilled. The store was full at 6 p.m. on a Wednesday evening, reservations recommended. The facility was a bit dusty.

We found the service in the restaurant very unfriendly. We were only allowed to sit at a certain table, even though almost everything was free. We then wanted to order more, but we had talked before ordering and needed some time. This resulted in us being asked to leave. I have rarely been treated so unkindly in a restaurant. We won't be coming back!

Great service and very tasty food. The Vietnamese dishes look great and taste fantastic. We have been coming here regularly since it opened and are always very satisfied. You will also receive very friendly service and all at really fair prices. Absolute recommendation!

The price and quality are simply excellent. Everything was brought quickly and very tasty. Beer for 0.5 - 3.5 oiro. Where else will you find such prices in March 2025? But they didn’t need advertising, they had plenty of people.

Food is amazing. Everything from the presentation to the fresh taste you would expect from Vietnamese cuisine. And the prices are reasonable too. Cocktails are also good value. Very busy between 18:00-19:30 so making a reservation is probably advisable, particularly if you are 3+ people.

I've eaten there several times. Always very tasty and fresh. Particularly worth mentioning are the cocktails, which start at €5. You get something for your money. Service quick and friendly. Very happy again.

Directly at the Ostkreuz. Pleasant restaurant and fast service. We had, among other things, the Ben Thanh beef, and it was really tasty. Grilled beef in a pepper-chilli sauce.

Service and atmosphere are amazing. The food however is mostly not Vietnamese I took one of the few dishes that is but it didn't taste like Vietnamese at all, actually tasted like nothing! I was very disappointed. But I guess because I've been to Vietnam.. it's over-germanized :(

Absolute recommendation for food, always well attended, reservation recommended.

I love this restaurant. Relatively cheep prices but the taste is great (South Vietnamese taste). Each portion is generous. The only disadvantage is the space of the restaurant is quite small, hard to find an inside slots in the evening. But anytime I come to Berlin, this restaurant is always one of my top choice. My favorite choices: - Vegetarian dumplings - Tomyum soup - Wantan soup - rice + fried Tofu with pepper sauce or with lemongrass sauce 🩵 - BBQ stew beef

2 of 3 guests were super happy with their dishes. One however wasn't as the crispy duck was only very partly crispy and the meat was simply not good. Also a bit much coriander in my opinion but I'm one of the soap people. Atmosphere was nice but the server was very short and I didn't feel "taken care of". However overall I would visit again and just order something different.

There are tons of restaurants in Berlin. But every time I'm in town I eat here because it tastes simple, it's affordable and the service is friendly. ☺️

When we arrive at Ostkreuz train station, we always like to take a detour to Ben Thanh. Delicious Vietnamese cuisine at affordable prices. Also very suitable for vegetarians/vegans. Clear recommendation.

Food & drinks were good but reasonably priced. On a pretty street. Somewhat random menu of Asian-fusion crusine (e.g. sushi, pho, dumplings).

It used to be delicious, but not anymore, the seaweed leaves on the sushi were dry and tough, the crispy duck...not crispy, but mushy and fatty, totally over-seasoned. Waiter saw our plates and didn't feel the need to ask what was wrong, he wasn't interested. No goodbye, nothing. We won't be coming back!

Crazy owner, refused to bring us a glass of water and almost kicked us out because he was closing. The food was good but it does not do everything. Learn how to treat people before opening a restaurant.

A really nice restaurant with lunch menus that are quite affordable. Lot of options to choose from. Loved the pepper-soy tofu with rice!

Very good value for money. I had a Pad Thai with vegan duck. The dish was delicious, but the vegan duck was unfortunately too dry and fibrous. Would use tofu next time. My partner was very happy with his soup. The sushi beforehand was great, the long drinks were good - good prices and good service. We'll definitely be back because I want to try more of the menu. 😋

Good: - Food tastes good Bad: - Service! Really unfriendly. The waitress leaves in the middle of placing the order. - No card payment. Only possible from 20€. You are forced to consume more! A minimum amount is not legally permissible

Unfortunately it has worn off :-( it's a shame it's no longer good. Loveless! Red curry sauce: tastes like water. Salmon bowl: salmon is older. No longer recommended

I begin the story of my experience at Ben Restaurant for the service. I give it 2 stars, largely due to the disinterest of the waiter, who served us, without the slightest empathy, showing a lack of interest in the customer, he believed he was doing us a favor by serving us. This terrible behavior took one star off my review. However, other factors led me to consider Ben Thanh as a good Vietnamese food restaurant. I am a fan of the diversity of their seasonings and sauces. Healthy food, with lots of greens and vegetables. Berlin has a range of these restaurants, as the Vietnamese community is representative in the city. The environment is well decorated with typical motifs from the country. When visiting the city of Berlin, I suggest visiting Ben Restaurant, and if they have better service than mine, good luck.

The worst service I have ever experience. If you are the boss of this restaurant, please reconsider about ur Young waiter n waitress. Rudest persons I have ever met. Absolutely disgusting service.

Vietnamese sushi, need I say anything else

Beautiful ambience and great sushi at an absolute top price/performance ratio. The only thing that left something to be desired was the service. He was polite and nice but we didn't get to pay for ages, even though there was almost nothing going on... But would visit it again 👍

The food was really great, the service was a disaster. The waiter was very unfriendly and used a wrong tone. We have been told several times in the past that we should leave after 90 minutes. The chairs in the outdoor area were very uncomfortable, despite there being several free tables we were sent away.

We ate here twice. Once at lunchtime for four (two adults & two children) and once in the evening (4 adults and 5 children). The food is really beautifully presented on the plate. Everything tastes really good, but interpreted in a very European way. The service was very quick at lunchtime, even though the store wasn't full. A few days later we went out to dinner again with friends, but in the evening when the restaurant was full. Here again, no trace of friendliness. When a child had the mishap of tipping over a glass, a stack of napkins was slammed onto the table without a word and we were done with the situation. The napkins weren't nearly enough and it was only at our request that a mop was brought in and the floor was mopped. The drink we ordered took 15 minutes to arrive and when we asked several times we were sometimes even ignored. Not exactly what you would expect from hospitality. The high rating is thanks to the skilled chef.

Tempura sushi and pad thai were nice. The roast duck was good but the sauce was not nice. Abu tempura shrimp was good. I tasted Tiger beer here for the first time and it was light.

Great food and drinks. Mango lassi was first class and the large sushi platter was not only a pleasure for the eyes but also for our stomachs.

Sushi is good for Friedrichshain standards. Service great. Pad Thai is terrible and an insult to Thai cuisine.

We were there a few times. Food was very tasty and the service was friendly. Recently the quality of the food noticeably decreased. Today we were again disappointed with the sushi and the service was indifferent and in the end even unfriendly - despite the tip, for which we weren't even thanked. We weren't even said goodbye. We will no longer visit the restaurant.

As an ‘Asian cuisine lover’ I did not hesitate to give Ben Thanh a chance the first day of our Berlin stay. My wife shares the same food love….however, our kids are kinda special in regard to food. But….a capital BUT…they were big fans of it. They ate chicken saté, Rice with fried chicken and even tried the served sauces. The plates were as good as empty at the end. We left with full bellies and the kids were happy, too. Definitely a recommendation - either sitting outside or inside. The interior design looks great, the staff is friendly and the food came in less than 20 minutes.

Rude waiters. You are not greeted, you are not said goodbye, you are not thanked for a tip and we did not receive a receipt for card payment. The food was brought quickly and was delicious.

It was really good! Since I needed something to take away quickly, I was under time pressure. But that wasn't a problem at all, the food was ready and packed in no time, I caught my train and it was incredibly tasty! Gladly again! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

The restaurant makes you feel like you are in Vietnam. Authentic Vietnamese flavors, spices and herbs and service make this place unique. Large dishes for the very hungry, served quickly despite the room being full of guests. Prices below average in Berlin. When visiting Berlin it is worth visiting this place, I really recommend it.

Food great, service flop The food was excellent, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Despite having reserved a table, we were unfortunately told that we could only sit there for two hours. We had planned to spend the whole evening there. We were also served quite unemotionally.

By chance, we ended up at Ben-Thanh on the last day of our trip to Berlin, freezing after visiting the Wall. We visited a Vietnamese restaurant for the first time. Special compliments to the Vietnamese waitress, she pointed out to me that my chosen dish was a vegetarian dish, which I immediately rejected. The waitress appears to have good people skills. The food we ordered was excellent, just right, the portions and even spicy enough for me. Therefore full marks, it couldn't be better. Next time we have to go there again. S-Bahn stop - Ostkreuz -

We called at 7 PM spontaneously, hoping to get a table for seven people, it worked!!! Got one at 8:30 PM, and on the dot we were able to sit down. Food was soooooo delicious, it was the best meal our group had in Berlin. We had Pho (traditional vietnamese soup), the Obama dish (trust me it’s good), and had a few non alcoholic drinks, which were definitely worth ordering Get a few starters, get a food main dish, get a drink and you’ll land around at 20 Euros, which is VERY reasonable for such a location and such good food :) Would definitely come again

Fantastic restaurant. Eating is an art. Very nicely prepared and super tasty. The service has always been great. Today we were extremely disappointed. We had booked a birthday table for 5 people by phone at 6 p.m. When we entered the restaurant with the birthday guests, we were informed that we had to leave the restaurant at 8 p.m. so that they could receive other guests. The evening was over for everyone. An absolute no-go!

If you want to eat here you have to reserve a table. It's always full. The food is super delicious 😋 and the service is super fast and friendly. Unfortunately a bit noisy due to the mass of people. But definitely recommended.!!

Gites Restaurant, zu empfehlen obwohl einiges für die Location wirklich überteuert ist aber man will und muss halt Geld verdienen. Die Speisekarte sehr umfangreich und auch die Getränke sind in der Auswahl wirklich gut. Wir besuchen das Restaurant schon länger, auch schon beim Vorgänger.

Best Vietnamese place in Berlin no doubt

Sushi ist extrem wenig Reis und der Reis ist auch nicht wirklich durch. Ich hatte außerdem eine Sommerrolle, die verdorben geschmeckt hat. Der Kellner hat sie aber freundlichst zurückgenommen. Dafür die noch positive Bewertung für den Service..

Bei minus Graden, im außen- kein Grog, innen. ???

Excellentes Essen mit geschmacklich gut abgestimmten und interessanten Gewürzen.

Essen kam schnell, und war sehr lecker! Die Erdnussoße kann ich besonders empfehlen. Die Service war auch sehr nett.
