Unfortunately, the service was absolutely terrible. The young waiter in particular seemed disrespectful and condescending – really unpleasant. It's a shame, because the food is great.

We were visiting from Berlin and were highly recommended "Beim Mahler" at our guesthouse. In short: a wonderfully cozy restaurant, the likes of which you sadly don't find in Berlin anymore. We had a reservation for four, and after a short wait at the counter, we were shown to our table upstairs. The service was friendly and unobtrusive, the wait time was perfectly reasonable, and all four dishes arrived precisely at the same time. The food was excellent. The prices were absolutely fair. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. I'm baffled by what the complainers among the reviewers have to say about it. A big thank you to the restaurant team. Keep up the good work!

The older gentleman, probably the boss, was extremely unfriendly. He really needs to work on how he treats guests. It's absolutely disgusting. The young waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The food was, as always, exceptionally delicious. I'd gladly come back for the food.

Like many other reviewers before me, I can only agree with the prevailing opinion: Compliments to the kitchen - however, the service was - excuse me - absolutely abysmal! Urgent corrective measures are truly needed here. Therefore, the current overall rating of -4.6 ⭐️ is more than misleading. In short: The first waiter of the evening (we were told it was probably the boss himself) literally exuded a very strong odor. Not to mention a friendly greeting at the table and when taking our orders. He also told politically questionable "jokes." Our drink order wasn't carried out as hoped. The second waiter of the evening, considerably younger, initially raised hopes that he would still understand good service. Later, however, we were also disappointed by him when I went to the counter to pay and pointed out to him that the service that evening hadn't been good. This was initially accepted with a nod and without question. Later, he came up with the idea of ​​asking me (exposing me?!) in front of my assembled guests at the table what exactly was so bad. A situation like that is simply unpleasant for everyone involved, even though my guests shared my impression of the quality of service. Even though the manager obviously doesn't care about what's being criticized here, I hope this way I can make as many other guests as possible aware of the situation in this establishment!

A very nice restaurant, a pleasant atmosphere, and the staff are very friendly. The Argentinian rump steak is highly recommended; it was excellent and grilled to perfection. We'll definitely be back!

Overall, a lovely evening in a great atmosphere. The house is very lovingly designed and maintained, a highlight was the lace tablecloth, because in which restaurant do you still eat on a tablecloth today! The food was also delicious when it came. The service was also very friendly, we would come back.

Great food, terrible service. The Jägerschnitzel was truly delicious – compliments to the kitchen. Unfortunately, the service ruined the experience: long waits for drinks and for orders to be taken, and guests were barely noticed at their tables. One employee in particular – the older, grumpy man serving/at the counter – stood out: unfriendly manner, bored demeanor, and rude replies. This makes you feel unwelcome as a guest. It's a shame, because the kitchen is great – but the service is outdated. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

Very tasty food at fair prices! We were there with six people on Sunday lunchtime. It was delicious and the portions were more than sufficient, so we were all full. 😊 I highly recommend it!

The staff are so unfriendly it's hard to believe. The old man leaves you standing there for 10 minutes, and when we finally dared to ask if we could sit at one of the free tables, he just said, "Nope, I don't feel like it," and left again. You'd think he was joking, but he really is a bitter old man. You almost feel sorry for him... The young waiter was also cheeky and asked for "a good tip and a good Google review." The food was delicious, by the way, but in our amazement at these people, we hardly had time to enjoy it all. Unfortunately.

If a boss is so unfriendly to guests visiting his restaurant for the first time, you have to expect that they won't go back. I've never experienced anything so unfriendly.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place at all! We arrived right at 5:30 p.m., and there were only 2-3 people in front of us. We had reserved a table for 6 people. We were "greeted" with "wait a minute," and shortly after, we were "led" to our table. The seat cushions, which were supposed to be there, were worn out, and the seating was practically so hard that your bottoms quickly hurt. We didn't order anything unusual; I had a schnitzel, and then another order of steak and similar dishes. The schnitzel was turkey, not pork; the mushrooms were bland and tasteless, as was the sauce. There was a bit of salt on the fries. When we ordered drinks and desserts in the meantime, they were forgotten, misunderstood, or drinks were brought without our orders. I found the atmosphere intrusive and pretentious. For us, it was our first and definitely last visit to this restaurant.

We had booked a table for four people at 7 p.m. When we came in, we were ignored even though they had noticed us. After about 10 minutes, someone approached us. An older gentleman showed us the table, and then we sat and sat. He walked past us several times without speaking to us. After a while, I asked him whether we could order something to drink, and he answered, "Yes, tomorrow!" Then we got up and left the restaurant. I have never experienced such unfriendly behavior. We will never go to this restaurant again.

We went to Mahlers for the first time this afternoon. The food was very tasty. It took a little longer until we were able to order and the food came But the wait was still worth it. Everything at the salad buffet was nice and fresh. Unfortunately, the service seemed a bit stressed. We will still come back.

We had dinner there for my mother's birthday. It was a very nice evening with very good food, excellently prepared meat dishes and really warm service. We felt like we were staying with friends. Our daughter (6 years old) received a warm welcome and found it so nice that she wanted to go there for dinner for her birthday. We'd love to come back.

Today we once again treated ourselves to duck leg to take away. The leg and the side dishes were, as always, excellent. Can only be recommended. The price and performance ratio are right here.

Disappointing service at our group dinner We were really looking forward to our dinner with several people, but unfortunately the evening was marred by the poor service. First of all, we had to wait far too long for anyone to come to take our drinks. When the orders were finally taken, the wait staff seemed stressed and disorganized, which continued throughout the rest of the evening. Drinks only came after repeated requests. The waitress was only able to say mushy and stupid comments. The bill for food and drinks was distributed on slips of paper with the total amount written in pencil. For a restaurant that accepts group reservations, this was shockingly poor service. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this restaurant and will definitely not be coming back.

I was back in my hometown after years and wanted to go out for a delicious meal with Mum on the last evening at the Croatian or Volksfeutsch Yugoslavian, even though it doesn't really exist. Unfortunately, a lot has happened in Bonn over the years and everyone knew where we used to be in are gone. So we were clever and chose the one with the best rating in our area. So we found this nicely run family restaurant which was full to bursting. After a short wait we got a seat. We recommend ordering in advance. We ordered quickly and waited about an hour for our grill plate. Since our family comes from the catering industry, it was totally ok, we know what it's like when the place is on fire. The food wasn't bad, but we know we do things differently. It was still a nice evening, but we were disappointed We didn't either because the price-performance ratio was really ok. Since everything else was great, we would even come back again, I think the family had a difficult evening and deserved a second chance to cook us out of our shoes. Wir waren an einem frühen Sonntag Abend im Zum Mahler. Gleich zu Beginn wurde viele Tische mit grösseren Gruppen besetzt. Trotzdem saßen wir ungestört an unserem kleinen 2-er Tisch und konnten uns in Ruhe unterhalten. Der Service war aufmerksam und sehr freundlich. Essen reichlich und lecker zubereitet, eine längere Wartezeit gab es weder bei uns, noch bei den Gruppen. Auch bekamen diese ihre Bestellung alle gleichzeitig. Das Restaurant ist in einem alten Fachwerkhaus und sehr schön eingerichtet. Accessoires wie Tischdecken, Leuchter, Blumen etc sind passend abgestimmt und vermitteln eine gemütliche, warme Atmosphäre. Sicher nicht unser letzter Besuch dort.

A second attempt on Thanksgiving Day 2024 with 10 people with food. When you entered the restaurant you were rudely spoken to by the owner, who might have asked you where you were going, even though everyone was already sitting there and my father with care level 2 and a severely disabled person's ID was with me a few minutes later came to the restaurant. It took a really long time but it tasted very tasty again.

On the historically narrow Bonn connecting road from Poppelsdorf to Ippendorf, the "Mahler" in its outwardly inconspicuous half-timbered house only advertises with an easily overlooked reference to "Fresh Chanterelles". Nevertheless, the restaurant inside is surprisingly spacious and lavishly attended, because once you've stopped in, everyone wants to repeat the visit. This is probably not just due to the good home-style cooking with huge portions at a competitive price, with a chef on hand, far from half-prepared meals and a drinks menu with premium products, always served at the ideal temperature. There is no vegan menu because Mahler isn't jumping on the veggie bandwagon. But if you order the kitchen to serve the tagliatelle without ham and, if necessary, with a different sauce, that's no problem. The friendly, familiar hospitality alone may not explain the popularity, as the architectural interior design is both breath-taking and appetite-stimulating. Here you will find the built epitome of comfort and security, whether in small niches or at long tables. If you can climb stairs, you should move to the roof terrace and there immediately settle. Subtle music and skilful illumination make the evening at the Mahler unforgettable. I would walk there from Kölle again and again. But unfortunately the restaurant is closed on Monday.

Friendly service, good service, delicious food and a nice atmosphere...very friendly and courteous dealings with our mother when she could no longer take care of herself and had the food delivered from this restaurant. Nice restaurant that offers both German and Croatian cuisine. Both were very good quality, but the quantity could be more. Neither the children (13 and 16) nor the adults were satisfied with 4 croquettes and some vegetables as a side dish to the meat. It would be nice if it was pointed out when you place your order that you can get your own salad from the buffet. The clue on the map is easy to miss.

OK, die Anmerkungen, dass man etwas Geduld mitbringen muss, sind schon begründet. Aber den Service haben wir als super freundlich und äußerst sympathisch empfunden😃. Die Einrichtung ist alt, aber sehr sauber und gepflegt. Hat etwas vom Omi‘s Wohnzimmer🤪👍. Das Essen war übrigens sehr gut und die Preise sind äußerst fair.
