Baumann's Bierbar in Hamburg

Nice, cozy restaurant with friendly service in the city of Hamburg, right next to the main train station. I can only recommend it, the price-performance ratio is very good, I would happily go there again

Not a pleasant place inside or outside

In Baumann’s Beer Bar: Eisbein is traditional, as it was at least 25 years ago, tasty and plentiful. Eisbein is rarely offered anymore. For the second breakfast in Baumann's Beer Bar, my request was scrambled eggs with bread and not a dry roll. I should have asked the boss, but unfortunately the roll I didn't want was served without explanation, which I left behind to throw away.

Yesterday, December 14, 1924, we had dinner with a group of 18 people and we all really enjoyed it. Unfortunately the reservation wasn't that good. We sat in 2 groups. But it was a completely successful evening. Thank you for that.

The name “Baumann” and “German cuisine” is unfortunately misleading. You enter a formerly quaint German restaurant, which is only remembered by the nameplate and the dilapidated ambience, but in which you are confronted with a southern chain of staff. The menu also promises German food. The result is also quite ok, but unfortunately it doesn't come from a German-occupied kitchen. We were offered to leave our suitcases behind the entrance door, which of course you are never allowed to do near the train station! There were some fruit flies flying around our table. The table was shaking and its table top was very loose. The entire interior is very worn and everything that was broken was not repaired. It appears that this place was purchased and has only been used since then. Overall the stay was very disappointing and is not recommended.

Despite the somewhat expensive prices for some dishes, we can always recommend it. Tastes very good and has a nice atmosphere. Always my pleasure

Hmm, I give two stars for the hit from the speakers. The pork knuckle came with the potatoes (I don't eat them, I ordered without), a shame because of the waste. The pork knuckle was hard and cold inside. I let it go back, after 18 minutes it came back, now steaming on the outside and lukewarm and hard on the inside. I cannot eat meat if it is reheated and undercooked, I sincerely apologize. Thanks for the team reducing the bill... Oh no, it didn't. Thanks for the schnapps on the house... Oh no, there wasn't any. So thank you for the sauerkraut and pea puree for 21 euros. 🙄

Been here again and several times in mid-September 24th. Every time I only drank Duckstein and, despite being busy, the service was good and friendly. Rating ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED Stopped here last night, April 7th, 2022. First we tried a delicious Duckstein at lunchtime and reserved a table by the window for the evening. Worked well. A nice host and friendly staff. A very good value for money with reasonable prices and generous portions. We each had beef roulade and a large knuckle of pork. Plus delicious beer and a Malteser for digestion. We were completely satisfied. The location right opposite the main train station is also very good. Our rating: ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED

I have been in this restaurant for breakfast and for dinner. For breakfast and dinner, I had good experience, friendly stuff, nice food, The second day, I went to have breakfast, but unfortunately, I met one old man very rude and unfriendly.

We were served very attentively and soooo friendly by Heliya and Mohammed with a hairbrush head 🤣🤣🤣!! Heavy downpour with thunderstorm and all helping hands were there immediately!!! You can also drink just a nice beer here and the service is always perfect!!! Big compliment! Our neighbors at the next table also loved it!! Good, well-kept home-style cuisine completes the picture!!

Chill place accross the station. A tiny bit cheaper compared to the rest of the street. We had a nice time there, both main courses were tasty, even though we had to wait a bit longer than we expected (be careful if you need to catch a train). The waiter was a bit messy but everything worked out in the end. Not my favorite place but still, the food was good !

Typical tourist restaurant with German cuisine. Rustic. Assembly line feeling. Rather uncomfortable. I had potato pancakes, which unfortunately were from the freezer and didn't taste good at all. Then I had a Wiener Schnitzel because I wasn't full after the 3 mini things. The schnitzel was breaded as thick as a thumb and bone dry. The cucumber salad with it was ok. Not recommended.

I'll try to describe my impressions as briefly and concisely as possible. Service is ok. The ambience needs some beautification again. Furthermore, the mayflies and fruit flies were very annoying. They were everywhere on the ceiling and walls. Maybe due to a lack of hygiene? The meal went like this. The Jägerschnitzel was prepared without any seasoning. The champion sauce was also tasteless, probably prepared from a bag. On the whole it wasn't Baumann but rather Pakistani/Indian cuisine.

Ist eine Super Bar wenn man zu einem HSV Spiel geht, das Bier ist klasse und die Tomatensuppe nur zu empfehlen. Die Toiletten sind zwar klein und mukelig und man kann am Telefon Kasten rumspielen aber ich gehe immer wieder gerne hier her 👍

Purtroppo un noto ristorante di pesce li vicino era pieno e, non avendo prenotato, siamo malauguratamente capitati in questo. Il posto in sé non è malissimo: ha un che di ristorante tedesco retrò frequentato da locali. Il servizio è normale, anche se la portata principale si è fatta attendere a lungo. Il vero problema è il cibo: Zuppa di pomodoro quasi immangiabile da quanto pepata, ma soprattutto la platessa questa sì davvero immangiabile, tanto il pesce quanto le patate (!!!). Non mi era praticamente mai successo di lasciare nel piatto quasi tutto: ho colmato anche questa lacuna. Schifo

Eine urige Bar und Restaurent. Beliebt bei Theatergästen. Wenn man dem Wirt sagt man muss bis da und dann da sein dann macht er eine klare Aussage ala schaffen wir. Essen war lecker. Wir hatten Grünkohl und Roastbeef.

Zu später Stunde noch reingeschaut. Sehr netter Empfang an der Bar. So soll es sein! Bis zum nächsten Mal!

Mysig ölstuga nära Hauptbahnhof. Serverar "tyskt kök" så som det brukar vara. Gott öl, förstås. Inrett med mycket nautisk konst, bruna möbler, väggfasta bänkar, rutiga dukar. Gemytligt.

Am Feiertag um 7 ohne Reservierung einen Platz gekriegt. Die Portionen waren groß, der Preis passt und das Essen einfach lecker.

Just off the Hamburg’s main train station, across the street there is this restaurant serving authentic German food with reasonable prices. With a gastropub atmosphere, meat dishes, potatoes and cabbage can be a nice meal, while enjoying some local Hamburg beer. Service is great at this small restaurant but with good atmosphere. Easily accessible when you just arrive in town from the airport or other cities by train.

Lang nicht mehr so eine gute Roulade gegessen! Hier war wirklich alles stimmig :) gerne wieder!

Eine sehr gute deutsche Küche. Die Portion sind sehr reichlich und schmeckten gut. Das Holzfäller Steak war sehr gut, die Schnitzel Panade muss besser werden und der Beilagen-Salat war sehr einfach. Bitte größer und an der Soße arbeiten. Die Bedienungen war sehr nett und freundlich. Die Inneneinrichtung ist in Ordnung, aber bitte ab und zu nach den Tischdecken schauen. Die Toiletten brauchen eine Überholung und im Laufe der Öffnungszeiten hin und wieder eine Kontrolle.

Update 16.10.23 War heute sehr nett hier. Service sehr freundlich. Das Guinness ist das beste in der Innenstadt. Das Essen ist für den Preis recht ordentlich. ---------------------------- Standard Bierbar. Bei unserem Besuch etwas arrogantes und unhöfliches Personal. Hatte hoffentlich nichts mit unserer Behinderung zu tun. Wir testen es auf jeden Fall noch einmal, und hoffen auf einen besseren Eindruck.

Astra, Franziskaner and two ducksteins. Nearly just under €20 We are considering a return for food. Edit: we are here 3 times! Standard and quality of food was good at a reasonable price. I had the matjes and then another time the lapskaus. We both enjoyed the food here. No complaints. Service was good. Very much recommended.

Plus Punkt für das rustikale Ambiente und dass keine laute, nervige Musik läuft. Essen und Portionen sind so lala. Preislich noch gerade so im Rahmen. Ein Minuspunkt dafür, dass ihr keine frischen Kartoffeln selber aufkocht und schält, sondern, dass ihr abgepackte Kartoffeln aus dem Keller hervorzaubert. Kam uns einer aus der Küche mit mehreren Packungen davon entgegen.

Wir sind durch Zufall dort gewesen.Ein Restaurant am Rande des Bahnhofes.Ein sehr netter Kellner bediente uns, das Essen war schnell fertig. Mein Grillteller war einfach genial zubereitet. Das Schnitzel war sehr groß und der Salat einfach nur lecker. Und der Preis war wirklich in Ordnung. Wir werden auf jedenfall dort wieder essen gehen. Echt zu empfehlen. 👍

Wenn ich ein Restaurant ruinieren wollte, hätte ich es genau so gemacht. Die beiden Bedienungen waren - trotz überschaubarer Gästezahl - absolut überfordert. Um nicht bei dem Verteilen der Speisen gestört zu werden, wurde die Gäste keines Blickes gewürdigt. Bestellungen wurden meist erst nach 20 Minuten aufgenommen um dann - weitere 45 Minuten später - ausgeliefert zu werden. Zwar wurde hier und da einmal ein Salat vergessen, aber darauf kam es dann auch nicht mehr an. Wer jetzt aus dem Namen des Restaurant geschlossen hat, dort würde auch das ein oder andere Bier gereicht, hat die Rechnung ohne die Bedienungen gemacht. Wer dieses Restaurant in leicht angetrunkenem Zustand besucht, hat die besten Chancen, dieses nüchtern wieder zu verlassen. Von den Gästen, die sich in "unserer" Ecke des Restaurants aufhielten, wird bestimmt niemand mehr einen erneuten Versuch wagen, sich dem Unwillen der Bedienungen auszusetzen.

Die Speisekarte versprach viel und wir als Paar wurden freundlich empfangen. Jedoch konnte uns das Essen (Jägerschnitzel und Zigeunerschnitzel) nicht überzeugen, da unserer Meinung nach dass Essen zu 90% aus Fertigware bestand.

Just been for a final night in Hamburg meal & sadly chose to eat at Baumanns on Kirchenalle 54, Ordered Apfel Strudel . Served from the microwave overcooked, two huge mistakes. Complained to deaf ears. Suggest one avoids as they are happy to serve poor quality and insist on payment. Advise to stay clear.

Ikke et sted for sjæle, der sætter pris på rene omgivelser. Maden er gennemsnitlig, men lidt for dyr i forhold til kvaliteten. Personalet er overbebyrdet og i køkkenet råber medarbejderne ad hinanden. Maden er spiselig, men ikke værd at skrive hjem om.

Buena atención, las diferentes variantes de schnitzel (milanesas), excelentes. Recomiendo la Wiener Art y la Jäger, con champiñones y salsa. Por supuesto, una aceptable carta de cervezas, especialmente locales.

Gemoedelijk cafe met doorsnee maaltijden en doorsnee prijzen. Wij aten een Schnitzel ¨Wiener Style¨met kleine gebakken aardappeltjes met ui en kruidige Gurken salat. Een groot en goed stuk vlees, een smakelijke maaltijd en een lekker glas bier.

Die Speisen waren alle sehr schmackhaft, heiß und üppig. Nach dem Essen wurde noch ein Schnaps aufs Haus serviert, ohne dass wir danach gefragt haben.

The restaurant doesn't give a fancy impression but I must say that we were so very pleased with having dinner there. We got plenty and delicious food (especially the eisbein) and the waitor was cheerful and serviceminded. If I go to Hamburg again I will definitely go here again.
