Unfortunately the quality has lost over the years. The “all you can eat” chicken wings variant involves waiting 30 minutes for every 6 chicken wings. The staff shows little understanding for the open criticism (which does not mean that it was unfriendly). It was borderline the last time we visited, when they said the kitchen staff was new and not yet well-rehearsed (I understood and had patience for that). Today it was the high number of guests. Two years ago things were completely different despite the high number of guests.

Yesterday I went to all you can eat with my friend. We both ordered chicken wings. Unfortunately, it took about 45 minutes for the first round to be brought to the table. The second round wasn't much better. The end result was that we left the store hungry after more than 2 hours. Very unfortunate

Some friends and I went here last month. It was very busy and chaotic and we expected a long wait thus. I ordered the unlimited chicken wings and pointed it out. When the food finally arrived after 45 mins, I was brought unlimited spare ribs. I pointed it out to the waitress that I had the chicken wings and she said ‘No you didn’t’ With no point in arguing after being accused of lying about my own order - I accepted the (incorrect) order of spare ribs. Never was I offered a new portion of UNLIMITED ribs - no one came to check on us after being served only once. My friend also didn’t receive the correct order (got normal fries instead of sweet potato fries) So I paid an expensive price for unlimited (incorrect order) ribs with no refill, only had the first small portion as we were never checked on. With the long wait, being given the wrong order and when I complained about it being told I lied about it - their hospitality defo is very ‘down under’. I’ll give them 2 stars for the OK 1 single portion of ‘unlimited’ (wrongly given) ribs.

First time there - will stay that way for now. It's been a few months since my actual visit, but I forgot to write a review for it - so I'm posting it now, because my frustration runs deep enough. On the positive side: The chicken wings are great, the selection is good, there should be something for everyone. I have definitely found my varieties and have basically used something different every time. Very tasty, please maintain quality. On the negative side: Service was virtually non-existent. We were a small group at the back of the store and there were two other large groups sitting closer to the entrance. Unfortunately, we hardly received any service and waited over half an hour for our first chicken wings. On the second one too, then even 45 minutes. The 4th round was something in between, the 5th was fairly quick at 20 minutes. We got damn hungry at times because we had to wait so long between rounds and had nothing else. When I go to all you can eat sushi, whether on the line or not, I have never had to wait longer. But here it was a disaster. We were all very disappointed, especially since we had only heard positive things before. I don't even know why I paid because I basically didn't get what I ordered. And the bad thing is: we even had a reservation.

We have tried this place with my friends not long ago. We truly enjoyed the wings! There are some truly unique versions for the wings (like banana coconut) what's worth to try at least once. We needed to mention that we as a group speak english but that was no issue. But needed to mention! Don't be shy. They are really helpful and friendly. The place has a nice pub vibe and can be a bit busy (understably so!) We recommend it. My friends come back rolling thes ate that much wings.

The Down Under Bar in Hamburg is an absolute insider tip! Absolutely awesome! If you've always wanted to go to Australia but only have enough budget for a train journey, then come here! The drinks are so good that by the third cocktail you'll think you can see kangaroos - and the staff is so friendly you'll almost think you're part of the family (or wildlife). The atmosphere? Mega! Five stars because unfortunately six doesn't work! Cheers, Mate!

All you can eat ribs was promised. Got one round while the rest of my squad got nothing. When my friends asked when the food would come after an hour. The owner was still rude and very rudely asked our entire group out of the restaurant. But after a conversation, he at least agreed to a special price for just one round of riplcben. I definitely won't be coming back. When you are treated like that as a guest. No matter how stressful it is. You neither become rude to your guests nor do you turn them away. Because after 1 hour you carefully ask where the food is

The selection of wings is great and all delicious, especially the All You Can Eat one is worth trying out the individual varieties. Sometimes the waiting times for the food are a bit long.

Very tasty wing all you can eat, unfortunately sometimes there are a bit of a long wait until the next portion. Very pleasant bar atmosphere. Huge, delicious portions of fries!

From the drinks to the food to the staff, everything was extremely good. All tables are equipped with nice little trivia question cards, which also adds a bit of fun. This store has the winning recipe for a good evening.

Unfortunately the food was a total failure. For one thing, it took about an hour until it was on the table, there's almost no meat on the wings and I've never seen ribs that small. The fries were fat-soaked wobbly potatoes. Not Australian cuisine! Service and atmosphere was very good 👍🏼

Service poor. I've been here twice now, 3 weeks apart, and both times several waiters came to us and didn't know that we had already ordered something. We also had to ask several times WHAT we had ordered. We also had to wait 110 minutes for our food. No fries were brought. We were told we would get the fries we ordered straight away. We now had to wait half an hour and the fries still didn't come.

To put it briefly: the order took 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive and it was expensive.

Waited 2 hours for the food, which was then only partially served and you had to wait another half hour, the food was lukewarm and very poorly prepared, definitely NOT worth the money and even 1 star is too much and definitely for what you get too expensive

While we were waiting for our food, I filled out a Bafög application, sent it off and received a response (I don't get any Bafög) :( But food was delicious

We got 50 chicken wings for just under 34 euros. The wings were good, but some of the sauces didn't quite convince us. The Australian wings were the tastiest. The different types of beer from Australia and the wide selection of European beer were also interesting. We'll be back!

Nice informal atmosphere, Chili Cheese burger was delicious. Sat at the bar since we didn't have a reservation, the bartender was a real professional! Recommended!

Great chilled out place to drink a beer and say two or three words. A fragment of Australia in the middle of Hamburg. The service is friendly and the wings are highly recommended. ⚠️ Be careful with the SnakeBite!! ⚠️ It tastes absolutely amazing, addictive and you definitely have to try it, but this thing goes straight to your head 😜 I would definitely like to come back 👍

Waited 2 hours for food. Haven't been there for what feels like 15 years. I won't come back either. 2 service staff for the entire store. And it feels like 1 cook otherwise it can never take that long. Super weak performance.

Cool, cozy atmosphere. The food was great, but the service or rather the kitchen was subtly overwhelmed. Ordered eight meals, after more than an hour the first four meals arrived (the side dishes were missing from two meals). The remaining four meals and the missing side dishes were brought about half an hour later...

Delicious, down-to-earth, rustic, cozy. During the last visit with 18 people, we were completely overwhelmed to record the orders properly. Accordingly, discrepancies in payment. The Alabama style wings are divine. Plus a gravestone cocktail. I don't need any more.

Rustic restaurant with delicious food. We tried the chicken wings all you can eat and it was just great! Testing the different styles was an experience in itself. We will be back definitely. The unisex toilet was unusual. The staff was super friendly.

It's just a pub, but the food is good, the service is great and the people are nice. It would definitely be time for a few repairs to the furniture.

The restaurant "Down Under" is the culinary jackpot that makes you feel like you've been beamed into the middle of the Australian outback - without leaving your living room. My friend, who has claimed he is secretly a kangaroo since visiting this place, promptly declared it his favorite restaurant. Here is a small sample: - **Food**: The menu reads like an adventure novel. From the emu-esque omelette to the barramundi-good fish dish, every bite is a culinary down-under experience. - **Atmosphere**: Rustic wooden tables decorated with boomerangs and didgeridoos transport you directly to the shores of Bondi Beach. Only the crocodiles are missing – luckily! - **Service**: The waiters are so friendly that you almost forget you are in a restaurant and not at an Australian family gathering. In short: Down Under is the perfect place to awaken your inner Crocodile Dundee and enjoy a piece of Australia on your plate. My friend is convinced: "If I ever emigrate, it will only be if 'Down Under' comes with me!"

The store looks great and seems fine so far. Unfortunately, the speakers boom loudly with light bass, which is really annoying. The food is unfortunately miserable, I have to say. The fries are great as far as fries go, but the burgers are really bad. Taste worse than those ready-made burgers at Aldi. Service is extremely slow and you really have to allow a lot of time to get any order. So I think the price/performance ratio is very, very bad

I found this place completely by accident while looking for something to eat for dinner. Australian bar in Hamburg. Let's rewind the tape a bit - AUSTRALIAN bar in Hamburg!!! The first impression is absolutely wonderful, friendly service. Second impression: they have hamburgers (hamburger, Hamburg, hehe) with kangaroo meat and another with crocodile meat. You can't miss something like this! The burger is very simple, without fancy additives (which is not necessarily a bad thing) with wonderful kangaroo meat - something like a cross between beef and maybe deer, but without fat. It was great. Tomorrow I'm coming back to try crocodile meat ;)

Been here 5 times so far, would 10/10 recommend both the tap beer (Murphy's fan myself) and chicken wings (particularly with the thai flavour) A perfect bar for expats, they also have bottomless food days and pub quiz nights.

I received friendly service, but I found the shop very noisy, everything was a bit greasy and the food was okay, but not a highlight...

Wow. So bad. Ordered and received nothing. Then ordered again. Then it was delivered incorrectly. Unbelievable. Then no credit card payment possible. Update: 2 years later we were back. Food arrived differently than ordered and the payment device didn't work. Waiters were eating and drinking themselves and didn't even look at us for 15 minutes. Something like: “Did it taste good” or “Would you like something else?” None. This probably needs to be properly retrained. It's crazy how you can't feel like doing your job, probably. There are still cables hanging out of the wall.

Chicken wings and cocktails absolutely recommended!

I was there with an American friend and an Italian one and they loved the chickens wing. I had french fries, small portion was big at my eyes and good. People working there are really nice and they served us with a smile also if we were quite late. Very simple but comfortable location to go with friends. Price was also good.

As always, we were absolutely convinced by the location, stuff and the unbeatably delicious food. We came unannounced with a large company. The staff immediately assigned us a suitable area in the restaurant and took our order - even though the store was already pretty full - we will definitely be back!

Something completely different. Delicious chicken wings in a variety of separately selectable flavors, plus customizable dips with delicious bread and celery. The baked potato is cooked to perfection, as are the crispy sweet potato fries or wedges. Where else can you get crocodile and/or kangaroo burgers? Or kangaroo sausages? It's nice that the amount of chicken wings can be adjusted to individual hunger or group size. Beer and wine are not to be sniffed at either.

The food tastes good or would taste good if it were served hot, I would also be okay with lukewarm. But that's it, in school grades I would give a straight 7, even if it had to be invented first. However, cold ribs are also an experience. When it came to “all you can eat”, the reservation was not found at first, we were moved from the table several times due to poor planning and after 1.5 hours and multiple requests we only had 2 plates with ribs on which there were hardly any ribs to be found, each Appetizer is more sumptuous. I come from the provinces to the big city and what do I notice? In our small town of 30,000 people, there are restaurants that have a much more professional approach to the spare ribs all you can eat concept. At this point, compliments to the Texas River Ranch from Bingum, the guys have the concept down pat, take an example of a restaurant down under. Anyway, after 2 hours we left and got a kebab as we hadn't had anything to eat until then. I would advise everyone not to visit and I will definitely not be coming back.

We arrived with around ten friends ready to consume. We waited 10 minutes even though there was an open table. When we asked, the waitress wouldn't seat us. She told us that if we wanted to leave, we just had to do so.

Great Australian pub with burger cuisine, ribs, wings etc... Imported beers are also available. The atmosphere on the lower ground floor is great, some of the staff are visiting students, so if in doubt, speak English. But for me that only adds to the very good atmosphere. I always enjoy coming here.

No idea why there's an Australian restaurant in Hamburg. Food is good though. Burgers were a bit sloppy but they have kangaroo and crocodile meat which is worth the visit in of itself. For reference, kangaroo tastes like leaner beef without fat, and crocodile tastes like chicken if it chickens were fish. Service could have been a little faster, but it's got a lot of charm for an Australian place 10,000 kilometers away from Australia.

We were there on a Tuesday for all you can eat chicken wings. The waitresses are very friendly. The pub very welcoming. You can even watch football. Unfortunately, many of the types of wings on offer were not tasty. Either they tasted like nothing, i.e. very bland, or the taste didn't match what was on offer at all. I would come back but then eat something different.

Let's start with the negative: Yes the service isn't the greatest! But it was limited and has not had any negative effects. Most importantly: We went there for the chicken wings all-you-can-eat, and it was wonderful. After initial confusion, reordering worked very well and the intervals weren't too long. The wings themselves were really good! All of them were very crispy and fresh, the different styles are certainly not for everyone - but you can try them out. :-) My fiancée had the spare ribs - these were also extremely tasty, crispy and tender. The portion was also decent. Definitely worth a recommendation!

The service was good even though the place was very busy and the wings were almost perfect. I had the XL plate (18 wings / 3 styles +2 dips). Buffalo 10/10, Italy 9/10 and Japan, the Japan wings were unfortunately a bit dry and the marinade had already dried up. But since the other two styles were very good, I am very satisfied. The homemade lemonade was also very good. I would come back!

Food was ok, service was always attentive but the waiting times for the all you can eat are gigantic. Bring lots of time and patience.

Before you eat here: there are very long waiting times between orders. That's all well and good if the food tastes good. However, both the food and the service leave a lot to be desired. The restaurant is clearly understaffed and the all you can eat chicken wing menu is never worth it as you have to wait over an hour between each round.

A cult pub, I was there over 30 years ago. The Australian British atmosphere is simply unique, the English beer is available in a 1.5 liter pitcher, as well as cider, the British version of apple juice! In addition to delicious ribs or chicken pieces as all you can eat, there are fried Snickers. The service person may only understand English, not German. You feel comfortable there and at home with friends.

The last time I was there was 16 years ago, regularly during my studies. Today was like coming home, a journey back in time. It's as cozy as ever, the staff is friendly. The chicken wings are as great as ever, at reasonable prices, I've never had them better anywhere. For dessert a deep fried Mars, very tasty. It won't be 16 years until next time, I promise ☀️

Actually a cozy shop. Unfortunately the staff is completely overwhelmed. We were there on a Tuesday in February 2024 for chicken wings allyoucaneat. The shop was well stocked. Arrival 6:15 p.m. You always get 6 wings per round. The first came around 7 p.m., the second around 8 p.m. and the third around 9 p.m. 1 hour waiting time is a bit much. The drinks were non-carbonated. This did not change even after a complaint. One of the staff spoke German, one spoke very broken German and one only spoke English. Maybe a communication problem? I think the large selection of “styles” for the wings is great, even if not all of them were edible and there are too many very spicy versions for my taste. The carbon dioxide issue should be easily remedied and if they invest in staff again, I would give the store a second chance.

General conditions: 2 people + Tuesday evening ~6 p.m. + All you can eat Food was quite ok, but the service is still too positive with 1 star... Waited 45 minutes until the drink order was placed + waited another 1.5 hours until the first round (all you can eat) arrived + waited another 1.25 hours ( despite a direct new order) was simply too long. The all you can eat was canceled and, compared to the XL menu, would have paid for itself after the 3rd/4th round. I never actually write reviews but that was just sad, not to mention we asked politely once for every order and in fact the order was lost every time (1st time via waitress, 2nd time via QR code). Chicken wings were ok - not extremely good but not bad either. I hope this helps someone at all, so just take your time if that's your thing.

I was there at 6:00 p.m. and had all you can eat, chicken wings. To start there is a plate of 6. Then, when ordered electronically, a plate of 6 was delivered. It took 50 minutes between courses. You run better with an 18 plate straight from the menu. The drinks were not carbonated. The wooden benches are uncomfortable.

It's just special and you have to like it. Not every waiter speaks German. Everything British/Australian meets the ambience. If you like Panda Paw and fried Snickers, you will be very happy with a wide selection of British beers. The beer is also served in the Pitsher, plus allyoucaneat 3 times a week. My very happy experience in the store tells me that if you come early you will stay seated for a long time. Reservation is recommended.

A great shop. Here you almost feel like you're Down Under (even though I haven't been there yet). The store is very busy. Unfortunately, as is often the case, the staff is immensely understaffed. You have to have time and there is a high risk of being forgotten, so get up yourself and just talk to the staff and in most cases it went on. The food was very good and the hot sauces are really spicy. I can highly recommend the Kangaroo currywurst but the chicken wings are also very good with their own marinades.👍🏼 The beers are okay but as we all know, tastes are different. But I will still come back.

Cult shop, really good food and extremely friendly service! All students know Down Under, it is also mainly visited by students, but not only. Prices are OK, when it comes to wings and ribs, there is something for every taste (I think 15+ flavors). Absolutely recommended, be sure to reserve for the weekend

Arrived 20 minutes nothing then ordered all u can eat wings after over 1 hour the first 8 wings and no napkins then 1 hour nothing after 1 hour 20 minutes the second portion with 6 wings waiting time horrible

The chicken wings are very tasty. The pub quiz is always fun. The location is okay, lots of Aussi details but still a “basement”.

I didn't think it was that great.....but as always that's a matter of taste..... For me the burger was anything but juicy...

We were there yesterday but had to wait 1.5 hours for the chicken and spare ribs to arrive. We were told that a table with a big group ordered so much burgers that their kitchen is busy. But then we saw 2 tables across, who came later than us, getting their food 20 mins before we did. Not sure how they operate but the fact that they do buffet gave me an impression that they serve food fast. Not again... Esp after getting stomach pain the next day.
