Bami 789 in Berlin

The curry was incredibly watery and contained neither peas nor Thai eggplant. A shame, but I can't agree with the 4.8 rating when it only contains bell peppers, bok choy, and green beans.

One of the best Thai restaurants in Berlin. You can immediately tell that they cook with skill: fresh ingredients, fantastic roasted flavors, a perfect balance of spice, acidity, and sweetness. The portions are just right, and everything was perfect—from the first bite to the last. Very friendly service and a truly enjoyable experience. This will now be my go-to place.

We visited this unassuming restaurant for the first time today. It was absolutely delicious! On a recommendation, we ordered a soup that wasn't on the menu, as well as a rice dish with duck. It was incredibly tasty! The service was also excellent. We'll definitely be back!

Very good Thai restaurant with delicious food in a trendy district. The lady who served us, presumably the owner, was friendly. The ambiance is more like a fast-food restaurant with Thai decor that makes it quite cozy.

The service and food here are excellent. The only things I would criticize are the rice and the Pad Thai. The shrimp were cooked a bit too floury, and the dish was a little sweeter than I'm used to (I've had it at five well-known spots in Berlin). However, it was very busy when I ate there. Perhaps the Pad Thai issue was just a mistake. Everything else tasted great. Also, I would have preferred the rice to be a bit drier and more flavorful. But that's really nitpicking.

I discovered Bami 789 in Friedrichshain through a few influencers on Instagram – and honestly, that doesn't always mean anything. But here… wow! The food is truly authentic Thai, fresh, bursting with flavor, and simply delicious. We've been to Thailand many times, and rarely does a restaurant come this close. Every bite tastes like vacation – lemongrass, chili, fresh cilantro… it's all there, all intense. The portions are rather small, and yes, the prices could be a tad lower – but honestly, the quality makes up for it. It's not just "Thai fast food," but really good food made with love. The place itself is small, cozy, and has that typical Friedrichshain charm – a bit rough around the edges, but welcoming. The team is super friendly, the drinks are a perfect match, and you can tell: here, it's all about the taste, not the show. In short: If you're looking for a real Thai experience and not just a plate of noodles – you absolutely have to go! For me, one of the most authentic Thai experiences in Berlin. We will definitely come back.

Nice family, but unfortunately the food was below average. I'm often in Thailand, and this has very little to do with it. I don't understand the good reviews. Probably from people who have never been to Thailand.

While service is very warm and friendly I found the price to value ratio not too great. Their m-f mittagsmenu is only 40 cents difference from regular menu dishes. Taste was okay though nothing super special. I requested medium spice because I thought it’d be authentically spicey, turns out it had no spice with medium spicey. Unfortunately, would not recommend the Thai milk tea from here just didn’t taste good nor was it creamy. All in all decent Thai taste but poor value.

I ordered a papaya salad online for 15 euros. The portion was ridiculous. But it tasted good. After this small, expensive portion, I won't order again.

a fantastic restaurant with a small but interesting and diverse selection of dishes i think everyone could find something they enjoy here, no matter if you like spicy things or have a more european palette a lot of the dishes are available with tofu instead of meat so it's a great place for vegans the staff is very kind! we really enjoyed ourselves and will be back in the future :)

Extremely friendly staff, reasonable prices, and not so obsessively "hip and trendy." Just that typical plastic tableware gave me a dopamine rush. Definitely the best place for Thai food in Berlin!

Our absolute favorite Thai restaurant in Berlin: Bami789! ❤️ Today we had wonderful Thai oysters (only by reservation), a wonderfully refreshing chicken-based tom yum, fantastic squid (also by reservation), and a fantastic shrimp yum wu sen. We finished with indescribably divine and delicious mango sticky rice. The team is simply fantastic – super friendly, attentive, and accommodating. We simply love it and are always happy to be here.

Truly the best Thai food in Berlin. I got the Pad Krapow, and asked for it very spicy because the food is almost never spicy enough in Berlin. It was moderately spicy, which was great! Very authentic restaurant, and attentive service. The food was quickly ready to eat. And they give you little sweet things when you pay the bill!

The quality of the food and the service were top-notch. However, the price-performance ratio was not right. At €18 per person (a meal and a small drink), expectations are higher. The food was small, the ingredients were simple, and nothing special. The menu was also very limited. None of us were full after the visit.

Everything here reminds me of Thailand Literally everything. small tables with plastic dishes for cutlery, absolutely random decoration elements, and of course food. The staff is quite friendly and really fast to take the order. However, even during less busy lunch hours it takes quite long to get the food. What’s more, do expect that people at the same table will receive their orders at different times (can be up to 15 minutes) The food tastes great indeed. All very flavorful and quite authentic compared to what I had back in South Thailand. Spicy options are really spicy :)

I was in Thailand a couple months ago and we came to this restaurant so we could try some nice Thai food and…..I TELL YOU, the moment I tried this food I cried, is just like in Thailand, everything was so freaking good and the lady there is really kind 🫶🏻💞

No complaints. Thats the main point. The food was very good and the price was also reasonable. It was also prepared in a timely manner, which I always appreciate. When it started raining the staff immediately helped us move our stuff inside (as we were sitting outside) and having worked in service myself I know how stressful those moments with sudden showers are and I think they handled it very nicely.

Few days back, I had mango sticky rice there which was pretty good i must say and later did uber eats take away for pad thai. Being a vegan , i clearly told them no meat no egg and only tofu but when i came home and opened the food parcel, still they had put scrambled egg and it was also sticking around tofu. Mild flavour, No peanuts at all, Minimal veggies. Not worth 15.90 euro at all, all went to waste for me.

I've been here a few times. Tonight we ordered via Wolt. The papaya salad is consistently good, but the stand out has to be those chicken wings. Ordered on a whim, but by far, the best wings I've had anywhere in a while.

Got super nicee Thai Authentic experience here. Brought my friends for the first time to try Thai food and ended up with amazing experiences. Foods were really good decorating and fine dining. We ordered Pad Thai with sweet-sour sauce. This one is recommended. Tom kha Kai also nice with creamy and softly taste. But for steaklover, I highly recommend Tiger cry beef fillet. This was amazing kind of steak I ever had, very intense feeling after first chews, unique smell of spice and mystery taste especially with eating with included sauce 😋..Sweet, don't you dare to for get order mango with sticky rice . that's good ending...the owner is very kind and friendly. just come guys and try over..Very recommended!!

Nice shop and pretty good food, although nothing special. However, the portions are very small and really too expensive. €14.50 for a small salad with beef is simply not appropriate. Especially in a neighborhood where there are many other good and cheaper Thais. Just too expensive for street food.

Everything worked out even for a quick visit. The food was super tasty and very authentic! It went very quickly after I asked and definitely convinced me. The dish Khao Man Gai really caught my fancy and is one of my comfy foods in Thailand (you can get it at every rest stop in Thailand but very underrated in Germany.. super simple but 100% comfort) Anyone who is a lover or has already tried Thai food in Thailand will be able to say that too👌🏽 The only thing I would complain about was the Thai iced tea because it was very watery and didn't convey the taste of the tea authentically. There were actually Thai people who ran the restaurant, which is not the case for many. The atmosphere is relatively small but cozy and the decoration is like a restaurant in Thailand :) Unfortunately I didn't take any photos but the plate looked great and was of good quality and a good size. Immediately my GoTo in Berlin 🤍

What a gem! I was just browsing through restaurants visible in Google Maps and had a good gut feeling about this place. And I can’t describe how good and authentic it was - you may want to check for yourself. One thing that surprised me was PadThai with duck. It was so unusual that I had to try it! And wow, the meat was tender and juicy, with crispy skin. Tom Kha Gai was also incredibly tasty and aromatic, not too spicy. The menu is short, but covers most traditional and famous dishes from Thai cuisine. Definitely recommended

I had the Pad Thai and it was really delicious and very authentic. The food came super quickly and the staff was very friendly.

We went here because of the good reviews. Tables weren't cleaned, the service didn't speak German and English didn't understand them properly. But, the coconut milk soup was good, the chicken skewers were dry, the noodles and rice were bland. It's a shame because it's not that cheap either.

I come from North Rhine-Westphalia and got the tip to eat here because I love authentic Thai food. Anyone who has ever been to Thailand knows how difficult it is to imitate this cuisine, even in Germany! Accordingly, I have to say that every dish tasted simply great and authentic! The homemade iced tea is a recommendation! Just like the crispy duck, the papaya salad, the kaprow and everything else we ate! Every visit is worth it! Go there and enjoy the atmosphere ❤️

I wanted to try a new Thai shop. We made a reservation in advance, as the restaurant was very full, this seems to be recommended. The service was very quick and nice. The menu is very small, which is great because this usually means that everything is super fresh and there aren't too many different ingredients in stock. The food was good across the board and the price point reflected this. The interior is very pleasantly decorated. I was told that there are sauces etc. on the tables in a kind of holder, just like in Thailand. Definitely try the Mango Sticky Rice!

In the restaurant you immediately feel like you are in Thailand. I ate a Pad Thai with tofu and was unfortunately a bit disappointed. Apart from bamboo shoots, there were no vegetables whatsoever and the taste didn't blow me away either. But it has a pretty high price. The Mango Sticky Rice was also good, but could still be improved and the portion was much too small for €10. My friends had 2 dishes with meat and also no vegetables. The service is very attentive and you get various sauces to season with

Thai restaurant with a Thai team - what could go wrong? Friendly staff, nice interior, bringing back pleasant memories of Bangkok. The menu is small but capacious. Chang beer available. Unfortunately, the food turned out to be completely un-Thai. Tom Kha soup lacks the typical seasonings - lemongrass and galangal. In Pad Kaprao, the basil disappeared somewhere, but green beans appeared. And it doesn't smell like oyster sauce at all. Just like chili. It is clear that the restaurant is targeting the “average client” who is not used to strong spiciness, but without chili at all it’s somehow boring. The papaya salad turned out to be the closest to the original, though not spicy, but sweet. Even the joy of a traditional Thai basket with seasonings and sauces was short-lived. Pepper sauces are more savory than hot. Even ground pepper couldn't bring the food up to Bangkok standard. Disappointing.

I chose this restaurant because of the very good reviews and the menu with original Thai dishes. Admittedly, the staff is very friendly and tries to fulfill the guests' wishes. As for the dishes, I had SomTam (papaya salad) Pad Krapau (fried minced meat) and a Tom Kha soup with chicken. All dishes that can be prepared quite easily as long as you have the ingredients. The papaya salad was the most authentic of all. Unfortunately very sweet and not very spicy, which is debatable. Not everyone likes spicy. Nevertheless, it was missing. The first disappointment came with the minced meat. Very well served with beans, it tasted more like soy sauce. Neither spiciness nor sweetness could be tasted. I also missed the typical taste of oysters and fish sauce. I was able to regulate the spiciness to some extent with Prik Nam Pla (chilli garlic in fish sauce). Basil, which rounds it all off, was not present at all. I was most disappointed with the Tom Kha soup. Coriander, lemon grass and galangal were missing. It tasted like instant soup, only made from tom yam bouillon cubes with coconut cream. Zero sharpness here too. The Chang beer did not disappoint. I love it. Thai beer, best with ice, goes best with Thai food. Conclusion: the restaurant has good substance, but can be expanded further. The only explanation to me why most guests leave such high ratings here is because this is not Vietnamese cuisine with a mix of all sorts of East Asian dishes.

As of November 2024, Bami is now my favourite Thai restaurant in Berlin. It has simply become consistently very good in the last 12 months. I usually go for the som tam and khao man gai , but everything here is very good. As authentic as you can find in the city. + I am always very well looked after by the manager/waitress who is most often there. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

a lot of Thai food in Berlin is overrated and really subpar, in my opinion, but bami is here to save the day! The food is authentic, fresh, and very yummy. It can be hard to get a table so come early if possible.

As others already mentioned, it always feels like being back to Thailand! As authentic as gets in Berlin! I love the Larb, Som Tam and Pad Krapao! One of favourite places in area!
