Bamboo's Streetfood in Leipzig

August 2024 Edit: The old man who is now in charge of the cash register shouldn't be working as a cashier there at all. He is super rude and loud, likes to make fun of customers and humiliate them while they are there getting the food and paying with him. He also swears a lot in Vietnamese. It's a shame, I actually liked the place and recommended it to many other people, but now I would never go again because of the rudeness of this man (who I think is the owner). ————————— Old review: I come here whenever I miss food from home. It is always so delicious and authentic. I surely would recommend you guys the combo, then you can have a taste of the normal daily homemade Vietnamese meal which consists of different small dishes. There were in the beginning more options to choose for the combo but it is also good as it is now. Absolutely also recommend their special dish of the day which they serve (depending on which dish) with homemade fermented garlic. Staff is always lovely and cheerful and bring food as fast as they can. Takeaway is not optimal but at least they could offer it during the lockdown time. Since there is a negative comment down there from a person who probably has not been to Vietnam yet, I have to say that the plastic table and chairs are super common there and they are like a part of the cuisine.

Authentic and delicious! For me it's always a taste experience with a 100% Asian street food feeling. I love it :)

Super tasty food at fair prices and great service. When the weather is good, you can sit outside on the small stools and enjoy a great meal together. We had pork ribs in taramind sauce, crispy chicken legs with salad, summer rolls with tofu and yellow curry with duck. And everything is recommended! Unfortunately, I've never been to Vietnam, but this is how I imagine a Vietnamese meal!

This place is very delicious, I always eat here whenever I visit this city! I recommend all the tofu dishes, they are very tasty, and also try their beer. You can get sauces for free at the counter. Everyone is very friendly and cool! Highly recommend.

This is the most flavorful food I've had in a *long* time. I got the combo with a selection of meat and veggie dishes and was delighted by the spread. There are usually people hanging out here eating at all times of the day and I now understand why :). The food is delicious and fresh, and the owner and staff are very kind. This is a new favorite place and I'll be returning soon. Highly recommend!

I eat here very often with my friends and as Vietnamese we can confirm that the food here is 100% authentic. Not just the food, but also the tables and the small stools. Whenever we miss Vietnam, we come here because we feel at home. The changing menu means there is always something new to try. It's best to follow Bamboos Streetfood on Instagram, where there is a menu update every week.

I liked the authentic little chairs and aluminium tables. Noodles were rich in flavour and tasted well.

Overall positive experience, the food is great and the staff is helpful. The tables are really close to the ground tho so it may not be suitable for taller folks.

Location is great. Thats about it. The food used to be authentic and wonderful. Nowadays its just a cheap boring version that anyone who knows real Vietnamese street food avoids. Come for drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. But other places around are way better. It’s sad to see them going down so hard. Maybe ownership changed hands. Used to be one of my fav places on KH.

A very nice Vietnamese snack bar in the Westwerkhalle. The food was great and we had the combo platter of 4 different dishes, plus the homemade lemonade and Vietnamese coffee. Everything well done and very tasty. Only recommended!

The food is really solid, tastewise better than a lot of Leipzig places. More expensive than other places of similar quality. No good options to spice up your meal, just sriracha and a very mild homemade sauce.

Delicious vietnamese food in special setting. Service was nice and vibe was unique. I wouldn't say it is for long comfort but rather 'streetfood' setting of tiny tables and chairs which we enjoyed. Portion size is quite huge

Incredibly good experience eating at Bamboo. There are enough seats, even a small room opposite and authentic tables and chairs. Classic pasta dishes and a special selection that changes every 2 weeks. The food was fantastically tasty and a large portion. We had flat rice noodles with fried chicken and pho with beef. The service is extremely good. The drinks and food were brought to the table extremely quickly. My new favorite Vietnamese.

Very good food, especially the tofu curry is my favorite curry in the city. However, the seating is not my thing; as a tall person, back pain is inevitable. Compared to similar places, the prices are more like a restaurant, so I would prefer service instead of self-service. Unfortunately, EC payment is not possible.

On July 16th, 2023 between 12:53 - 1:47 p.m. (proof is my Google timeline) I had dinner here with my companion. My companion then wrote a 2 star rating. On December 15, 2023, my companion received a letter from Google stating that her review would be deleted unless she responded to the accusation that she had given a fake review. According to the restaurant operator, who has hired a lawyer, she was never a guest at the restaurant and would therefore not have written a legal review and would minimize the company's competitive chances with her fake review. Now on December 23rd, 2023 I understand where the rating 4.9 on Google comes from. That's why here is my rating and my companion will also post their rating again with the source/reference to my timeline. It's a disgrace that we have to prove that we were there for a review - which we can - while the owner can accuse us of behavior that damages our reputation and denies our business relationship without any evidence and Google is on the side of the restaurant owner. Ridiculous! At the time we were on a holiday trip with the camper and were in the mood for street food in Leipzig. The factory hall is dirty, musty and in the toilets - which also have to be used by street food visitors - you can lose your food/hunger. The restaurant itself offers nothing special in any way. Germanized, bland Vietnamese food with no wow effect. Only the large portions justify the prices. Communication in German is difficult and the fact that cash payments are only possible - in this day and age of Bitcoin Lightning payments or the worse alternatives from other payment service providers on smartphones - fulfills a cliché. No receipt was offered and the receipt pad was not available when asked. We have been writing household books for years. Maybe you should just ask the Leipzig tax office. In connection with the behavior of the restaurant operator regarding worse reviews on Google... In any case, should the restaurant operator behave in a similar way to this review, I will fight the matter to the end.

Totally great experience. Sitting in the small room and eating in the snow and cold. Very nice. Very tasty food. Can recommend the combo menu.

Leckere Gerichte und lockere Atmosphäre, in der warmen Jahreshälfte Aufenthalt gemütlicher.

Identisch wie auf der Straße von Vietnam nur reichlichere Portionen. Die Kombo aus vier Gerichten ist ein Geschmackserlebnis.

Super leckeres Essen und extrem lieber Service!

Wenn ich Leipzig besuche, versuche ich jedes mal hier zu kommen. Dank der Wochenkarte lohnt es sich, jedes mal etwas neues auszuprobieren! Hier kann man nur mit Bargeld zahlen und muss an der Kasse Essen bestellen. Es gibt genügend vegetarische Angebote und Fleischgerichte schmecken auch gut.

Ein absolutes MUSS, wenn man authentisch vietnamesisch Essen gehen möchte! Wir hatten die Nr. 8E (gelbes Curry mit Ente) und es war göttlich 😍 Es ist ein kleiner Container wo gekocht wird und man sitzt an kleinen Plastiktischen auf Hockern, wie es in Vietnam scheinbar üblich ist. Mega entspannt und das Personal war sehr sehr freundlich! (Wichtig: nur Barzahlung)

Die vielfältige Auswahl an Gerichten sorgt dafür, dass für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei ist. Ob würzig-scharf oder mild, hier findet man seine kulinarische Vorliebe. Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich und die Wartezeiten akzeptabel. Für alle, die auf der Suche nach einem echten Asia-Streetfood-Essen sind, ist Bamboo's Streetfood definitiv einen Besuch wert. Bin zwar noch nie in Vietnam gewesen, aber für mich scheint es echt authentisches Streetfood zu sein. Gekocht wird von 4 Köchen inneinem umgebauten Container. Wir waren gestern das erste mal hier und sind heute direkt noch einmal dort essen gewesen. Ich habe noch nicht besser Vietnamesisch gegessen. Schade, dass wir wieder abreisen.

Leckere, authentische Küche. Gegessen wird auf kleinen Plastik Hockern und Tischen drinnen oder draußen. Für große Menschen evtl etwas ungemütlich. Zum Gericht gab es einen kleinen Salat und ein paar Apfelspalten.

Leckere Pho-Bo und Curry gegessen. Schöne Location in Industriehalle, leckere Limonade mit Minze und kleines Mobiliar zum sitzen.

Ich war jetzt schon wirklich oft dort und muss sagen ich wurde noch nie enttäuscht. Das Essen ist immer OnPoint und die Mitarbeiter sind immer freundlich. Absolute Empfehlung. Das einzige, dass für mich als größeren Menschen nicht optimal ist, ist die Tiefe der Sitzmöglichkeiten aber ich finde das macht auch den Charme aus.

Sehr authentische Küche. Empfehlenswert!

Wahrscheinlich das beste *wirklich* vietnamesische Essen, was Leipzig zu bieten hat! Alle Beilagen hatten sehr authentische Aromen/Gewürze/Geschmäcker - haben die Combo-Menüs gewählt, bei dem jedes Gericht überzeugt hat! Auch den Limetten-Ingwer-Tee kann ich empfehlen. Sehr authentische Atmosphäre mit den Sitzhockern und Tischen. Für kalte Tage könnte in Betracht gezogen werden einen Heizstrahler anzuschaffen. Es fehlt eine gewisse Gemütlichkeit, aber vielleicht wird es auch einfach nicht angestrebt. Das Personal war übrigens sehr nett.

Ein tolles Mittag verbracht. Leckeres Essen. Sitzen auf flexiblen lustigen niedrigen Tischen und Stühlen. Ohne Schnick Schnack. Große Portion. Drinnen und Draußen.

Wow! Ich war 3 Tage in Leipzig und habe 4x da gegessen, weil es so unfassbar lecker ist. Das Essen ist frisch, gesund, fein gewürzt, macht satt und glücklich. Und die Atmosphäre da ist auch cool. Absolute Empfehlung!!!

Richtig leckeres Essen in toller Atmosphäre. Suppe, gebratener Nudel, Sommerrollen, vegetarisch und mit Fleisch alles super lecker. Durch die kleinen (niedrigen) Tische und die passenden Hocker wirkt es noch authentischer.
