Terrible taste and super small portion in a huge bowl

Worst ramen I've had in my life. My assumption would be that the salt fell into my dish and tainted it. However my girlfriends dish was 10x saltier than mine. It literally felt like someone had put the whole tub of salt in it and I'm not even joking... seriously the WHOLE TUB. From looking at reviews I don't know what happened... we went to dusseldorf and played it safe with my usual as I didn't want to be put off ramen for life after that disgraceful dish. It reminded me of the time when a wave hit me in the sea, and I swallowed salt water and was sick. Had a horrible pulsing feeling in my mouth. If I eat more of the dish, I would have been sick 100%.

Went by myself before the busy dinner hours and was the only one (it did fill up after a while though). The food came relatively quickly which I appreciated because I was very hungry. I got 2 starters which were incredibly delicious (Szechuan Fried Pork & the dumplings) with great depth of flavor. The beef noodle soup was also very good, especially the noodles were nice and chewy, the broth was a little salty and could have been a little more spicy to my taste. I finished all 3 plates and was a happy customer :)

The pork dumplings were delicious and very juicy. The main dishes took close to an hour to arrive. Most dishes were topped with burned chili, so bitter is a dominant flavour. Spicy actually means spicy. Other than the spice level, the broth was pretty bland

My colleague recommended this restaurant to me because the restaurant should make its own pasta. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. I ordered the homemade wheat noodles with minced pork and yellow peas. It just didn't have enough vegetables, the meat was a paste and the food was nicely spicy. The noodles was good. Overall the food was ok.

For me by far the best restaurant in Cologne. It seems to me to be really authentic Chinese cuisine. The service is also good. The spicy noodles with mince are mega!!

This Chinese restaurant is a hidden gem with a really inviting atmosphere. Initially, I considered giving it a 4-star rating at the start because the dry noodles were a bit salty for my taste. However, I recognize that dishes from this region, including Switzerland, tend to be saltier, so the issue might just be my personal preference. I tried the dry noodles, and they were delicious—spicy, flavorful, and well presented. If you’re sensitive to spice (and by this, I mean beyond your usual standard), I recommend trying the non-spicy soup noodles, which are also excellent. The noodles are perfectly tender, and the portions are very generous. As for the cold skewers, while they aren't exactly like the original Sichuan dish, considering we’re in Germany, they still stand out. The ingredients are fresh, the beef is flavorful, and the giblets are a delightful touch. The service is attentive and quick, making the overall experience even better. It’s a fantastic option when you want a break from traditional German cuisine. Highly recommended!

The service is okay, but the food feels a bit salty. The short crispy pork is very large and looks unauthentic and salty. The too big chunks of crispy pork taste like eating lard. The beef noodles are too different from other Cologne noodle shops. Too bad, the soup is also salty. It's really the saltiest noodle I've ever eaten in Germany. It doesn't have all the color, flavor and taste. The dried pea mixed noodles are very greasy at the end but don't taste very good. Most of them are salty. I originally ordered other dishes, but after eating these dishes, I didn’t want to try anything else!

Great - authentic and very tasty

An amazing hidden gem in Rudolfplatz. The dumplings are simply incredible. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Köln. The place is quite small so it might be difficult to find a place during busy hours. The portions are decent for the price. Definitely recommended.

It started to rain and we were not offered an umbrella or a place to sit inside, although these were available. When we asked twice, we were able to sit inside in front of a wall with fruit flies. The food wasn't very convincing anymore.

Food was simply delicious. It's definitely different from Japanese ramen, but good in its own way. I hope they expand and get a little bigger soon so more people can enjoy this type of noodles.

World class! authentic Cantonese cuisine and flavor in your face. In the small shop the only focus is on the food. What's special: there are numerous gluten-free pasta dishes. I can only strongly advise anyone who likes authentic Chinese cuisine to stop by here.

Service took a long time. Unfortunately, the food wasn't as expected. There was absolutely no Sichuan pepper taste in the baked pork. Unfortunately the noodles were a bit bland. The broth tasted slightly burnt. You can't say anything about the ambience since you're sitting right on the street.

Some of the best noodles I've ever had.

We were here 2 times. The first visit wasn't the best, but we thought we'd give it another chance. Unfortunately we are very dissatisfied. We were served by an old lady who seemed very rude and rushed, as if she wanted to do her work as quickly as possible and leave. Showed no joy or politeness towards their customer. We ordered the Maultaschen, we couldn't enjoy the food at all because you could only taste Szechuan pepper and nothing else in the food. I also got diarrhea straight after eating it. That's really a pity. Maybe If we had ordered something else, it would have tasted better, but I wouldn't recommend eating Maultaschen to anyone.

A real underdog! Ambience: Despite Gault Millaut's recommendation, I wanted to leave the restaurant at first. Very narrow and full to the last seat, which is actually a very good sign. Everything is clean and doesn't smell like food or, as is common in many restaurants and snack bars, like a deep fryer. Service: The service is pleasant and very professional. People seem to know what the kitchen can do. It is not possible to flexibly swap the noodles for another soup. But here too, the kitchen seems to know that random substitutions would not have a good effect on the taste of the dish. Food: We tested pretty much everything. Starters: The crispy pork belly is very tasty, I've never eaten it like that before. A sauce would have topped it all off. The pork dumplings are homemade, well seasoned with a delicious, slightly spicy sauce. Delicious! The skewers (beef, chicken liver, chicken stomach) were unfortunately overshadowed by the other dishes. The highlight was really the noodle soup. We had one with gluten free pasta. The broth tasted incredible. I hadn't thought much of noodle soup until then, but this was a different world that really stays on the tongue. For dessert there were rice cakes with syrup and a kind of jelly with sweet sauce and raisins. Knowing that everything is homemade, it is a real must-go for all Asian soup lovers (and all other dishes too)

Super tasty and authentic! My favorite restaurant!

The food we were served there was a moderate disaster. My girlfriend and I have had authentic Chinese food in the past, but last night was an absolute failure. When I asked if I could get some sauce or dip to go with the dry, fried pork, the waiter offered me chili oil and said I shouldn't eat the seeds. My friend had fried potatoes as an appetizer, which simply turned out fries dipped in oil and coated with Sichuan pepper. Unfortunately, the main courses only tasted like water with hot Sichuan pepper and the glass noodles tasted like tasteless gelatin worms. All in all, the food was not only not tasty, but not edible.

Delicious food with reasonable prices. There is a good selection of different noodle soups and also enough for vegetarians and vegans. The broth I ate was nice and mild and warming. The lunch menu is a good deal!

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants! The noodle soups are super tasty and worth it in my opinion. The beautiful interior design creates a relaxed atmosphere. It can get very crowded, I recommend making a reservation. The only thing that was stupid was that once my supper was very oily and since I've had it a few times already, I knew that it wasn't supposed to be that way.

Don't want to complain, but my baked meat was deep fried and very dry. I would have liked a dip or something with it. My wheat pasta with broccoli and chicken was Unfortunately, the taste is not mine either. The broth was just spicy but had no real flavor and was bland. The noodles were good and the vegetables and meat were good too. But I will eat there again and order something else.

Wow, super tasty. It's definitely worth it. And also authentic. It's worth it even if you have to wait. Inside it's pretty much like a Chinese noodle bar. Rather cramped, but cozy and the service is quick and attentive.

We won't come back again. We sat on two tiny stools and were able to examine the structure of the wall since we had to sit right in front of it. The food was disastrous and terrible! We ate salt with soup spoons and had to pay a lot of money for it.

The desired level of spiciness is requested with every order. What is pleasing is that they are not adapting this to European standards.

The appetizers (fried pork and dumplings), noodles, and beverages (pomegranate tea) were really delicious and good portion size. The staff were helpful and kind. Atmosphere is fun, they give you aprons while you eat so that your clothes don’t get dirty. A little expensive, but very delicious

Sweet, quaint, relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly service and the food is of course the highlight. I have never had such a flavorful, aromatic and delicious vegetarian broth before. An unreserved recommendation. You should only reserve a table, otherwise you usually have to expect waiting times, as I noticed. Definitely worth it! :)

It was a HIDDEN GEM, but now they got popular lol 😭❤️ the noodles were soooo good. The food that’s supposed to be spicy was also quite spicy (not as spicy as I like it but, hey, we are in Germany!). The service was also nice and the interior was such a vibe ✨ recommended!

Super tasty noodles with friendly service!

We had two vegetarian soups and the broth tasted mostly of ginger, so my whole mouth and lips burned and tingled. The ginger flavor of the broth also overpowered the vegetables and noodles. Unfortunately we personally didn't like it...

Hype not justified. The food, beef soup, was actually just ok. The taste was quite good, but unfortunately the beef was far too dry and very little overall. In my opinion, price/performance doesn't fit.

Bai Lu Noodles was an absolute revelation! For context, I eat out a lot and I’m native to the cuisine. That said, the noodle soup dishes at Bai Lu are the best I’ve had in Germany and comparable to the best I’ve had anywhere. The noodle soups that Bai Lu is so well-known for hit the spot. Both, the Wan Za Mien (Pork mince noodle soup) and Hong Shao Niu Rao Mein (Calf beef noodle soup), were excellent! Their Ginger lemon tea and Matcha latte were also very nice — and I recommend that if you’re not used to Asian levels of spicy but ask even for middle level of spice, then do order a drink. It will help deal with the spice and clean your palette after the meal 🙂 Their Shou Gong Xue Gao (homemade black sesame ice cream stick) hits the ball out of the park. Unusual, subtle and delicious 🤪 I was so engrossed in the deliciousness of my food, that I forgot to take pictures! Thanks Bai Lu. Highly Recommend a visit — again and again and again.

Incredibly delicious. Everything! From handmade noodles, Maultaschen, specially marinated vegetables and meat to soups with excellent broths and desserts, always changing. My favorite!

Great noodle soups with different broths. Small, very selected menu and good price-performance ratio. The restaurant is very small, so if you would like to eat at a table instead of at the counter, you should definitely make a reservation in advance!

All in all a nice shop. Waiting times are sometimes very long, so reservations are an advantage. To eat: We were happy with our soups. The quantity was good and the ingredients were fresh. They weren't the best soups in Cologne, but the friendly service made up for it. If you want extra coriander and soy sauce you don't have to pay anything extra. The homemade ginger-lime-cucumber soda was also delicious. Just a little small.

The noodles tasted very tasty and were homemade. The vegetables were also tasty and crunchy. There is a deduction for the broth, which tasted like finished product.

One of the best places for Asian soups.🫰🏻 But the “small dishes” that should play a supporting role are also great. The handmade noodles and dumplings are simply delicious. The broths are perfectly seasoned and the ingredients are all balanced together. I would recommend having the courage and trying something unusual 😊 We sat right in front of the kitchen. Afterwards, all of our clothes smelled like frying oil. The only negative thing that could be improved.

Unfortunately, we were denied food, we queued properly, people without reservations who apparently were known to the store simply walked past us and despite being aware of our presence, we were passed over. That was it for us.

I really enjoyed it here. I had a noodle soup with the homemade wheat noodles, delicious. I first drank a cucumber-ginger lemonade, then the pomegranate tea. I don't normally highlight drinks that much, but here they were super tasty, refreshing and not as sweet as usual. Our waiter was very attentive and quick. The toilet was very clean. The two of us were there on Saturday evening with a reservation - without it it would have been difficult. The shop is small and relatively narrow. We also had to share the table with another couple, but that wasn't a problem.

Great store that is just great and harmonious. Ambiance like in Asia, we eat in Asia... Just love it!

soggy noodles, tasteless broth, the free side dish at the Mittagsmenü was the best. No comparison to Chinese noodle places in Berlin, Paris or London, where you pay a similar price.

Die Suppe mit den legendären Maultaschen (ich hatte sie mit Schweinehackfleich gefüllt) ist wirklich lecker - die Brühe sehr gut. Die Suppe mit den hausgemachten Weizennudeln war leider sehr neutral. Schade. Mit fast EUR 15,00 aber auch echt hoch bepreist, denn die Schüsseln sind zwar riesig, jedoch nicht mal zur Hälfte gefüllt. Warum nur 3 Sterne für den "Service", der wirklich freundlich war? Für mich gehört zum Service auch die Dauer des Wartens auf die Speisen - oder: kommen diese für mich und meine Begleiterin zeitlich so gut wie zusammen. Wir haben jedenfalls, ob wohl es noch früh/leer war, 45 Minuten auf meinen Starter gewartet, der für meine Freundin kam 15 Minuten später. Das Ambiente ist sehr nett, aber es ist auch sehr sehr eng und dann irgendwann zur Primetime echt überfüllt/ unübersichtlich. Nett, dass Bai Lu mal besucht zu haben, ein weiterer Aufenthalt ist erst mal nicht geplant.

Nudeln ist ok, es gibt bessere in köln . Gebackenes Schweinefleisch ist sehr gut.

Wir hatten um 16:30 Uhr reserviert, aber der Laden war voll. Wir wurden abgespeist mit „bisschen warten“ und „Tisch kriegt noch Nachtisch“. Hatten die ganze Zeit schon bei Regen vor dem Laden warten müssen und sind dann gegangen, da um 16.40 Uhr immer noch kein Tisch frei war.

Meine asiatische Frau war sehr enttäuscht, sehr wenig Geschmack bei der Suppe, hat auf Anfrage kaum Sojasosse bekommen, (mein Tip: am besten selber mitbringen), Essen auf europäischen Niveau, alles war sehr sparsam gewürzt.

Es war überraschend perfekt. Das Essen ist der Wahnsinn. Im vorbeigehen sehr unscheinbar, jedoch alle Tische belegt. Jederzeit gerne wieder!

Bai Lu is a delightful and unique restaurant! It has a very cozy and familiar atmosphere. Even though there is usually a line due to the small size of the restaurant the service is prompt and the food is worth the wait. The noodles and dumplings are perfectly cooked, but the broths are the true star at this establishment. They are rich with Sichuan spice and flavor and very comforting. I was also impressed by the amount of vegetarian and gluten free options. A very wonderful experience and introduction to regional Chinese food.

The food here fixes your soul. And this is me not being dramatic. Tip: The side dishes get the same attention as the mains so definitely order one! It's a bit stuffy inside but the atmosphere is great overall.

Hm, was soll ich sagen: das Essen war gut (wenn auch nicht außergewöhnlich), der Service nett, das Ambiente okay (allerdings irgendwie lieblos). Eigentlich alles etwas überbewertet. Zumindest verstehe ich nicht, warum man draußen vor der Tür wartet für einen Platz 🤷🏼‍♀️

Wir hatten eine relativ gute Zeit erwischt, in der man zwar anstehen musste um einen Tisch zu bekommen, aber auch nicht all zu lang. Wir hatten ehrlich gesagt recht hohe Erwartungen, die nicht 100% erfüllt worden. Wir hatten vegetarische Nudelsuppe und Maultaschen. Die Nudelsuppe war relativ geschmacksneutral, die Maultaschen hingegen sehr intensiv im Geschmack. Es wird frisch zubereitet, was man schmeckt und an der Qualität des Essens merkt. Uns hat es allerdings tatsächlich an Gemüse gefehlt. Es war lecker aber auch nicht wiederholungsbedürftig.

Für mich eine der besten Nudelsuppen in ganz Köln. Die Brühe ist sehr gehaltvoll. Besonders lecker finde ich die Suppe mit Rindfleisch. Auch die Vorspeisen Dumplings sind sehr aromatisch und lecker. Im Vergleich ist die Dumpling Suppe sehr schwach gewürzt und ein bisschen fade. Wenn es voll es kann es schonmal etwas länger dauern mit den Speisen aber das warten lohnt sich. Da der Laden sehr klein ist würde ich empfehlen vorher zu reservieren.

Neuer Laden am Hohenzollernring. Perfekt für die Mittagspause. Gute Portionen. Die Gerichte sind frisch und lecker. 04.12.2018, Aktualisierung: Das Konzept scheint aufzugehen. Die Speisekarte ist inzwischen erweitert worden. Ich bin jedes Mal begeistert von dem Essen und der Geschmacksvielfalt. Zuletzt hatte ich eine Art chinesischer "Bolognese". Das war ganz groß. 22.12.2023, Aktualisierung: die Qualität ist konstant hoch. Man muss reservieren oder lange warten, um einen Platz zu ergattern.

Ein kleines mehrfach im Gault Millau erwähntes Geschäft, das süd-westchinesische Küche anbietet. Direkt von den Ringen aus in einer Nebenstraße erreichbar. Die Auswahl ist überschaubar, aber völlig ausreichend. Es gibt Vegetarisches, diverse Vorspeisen oder kleine und große Portionen Nudelsuppen auf Gemüse-, Rinder-, Schweine- oder Hühnerbasis. Die Weizennudeln hier sind hausgemacht. Auch verschiedene Desserts runden die Speisekarte ab. Überzeugt haben uns wie auch schon viele zuvor, die ausgezeichneten Maultaschen mit Schweinehack gefüllt. Die milde Füllung wird von dem dünn ausgerollten Teig perfekt ummantelt und mit ein wenig Frühlingszwiebeln, Chilliöl und Sichuanpfeffer braucht man nicht mehr dazu. Authentizität ist hier das Stichwort. Schade, dass es auf dem deutschen Markt nicht mehr solcher Garküchen gibt und nach wie vor vermeintlich asiatische All-you-can-eat-Restaurants vorherrschen. Danke Xue Bai, dass Sie Kölns kulinarische Welt mit Ihren Speisen bereichern.

Jenseits von Nummer 68 mit Hühnchen ... Da sehr wenig Platz vorhanden ist, sollte man vorbestellen.

Ate there for the first time last week, and today we did a take away. Wow. This is extraordinary. The soups are incredible. The tastes are distinct, flavorful and everything is balanced right. The chicken, beef and maultaschen are all delicious! We will keep returning to Bai Lu every time we visit Köln.

Essen ist ein absoluter Traum. Sehr traditionelles Restaurant, mit wenig Plätzen also unbedingt reservieren. Service klassisch asiatisch ;)

Schlichte aber schicke Inneneinrichtung. Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit sich bei meinem ersten Besuch es so zu erklären, dass ich auch bekam was ich mag. Das Essen selbst ist ein Traum. Wer weiß wieviel eine gute Suppe in der asiatischen Küche Wert ist der wird hier seine Freude haben. Alle Zutaten frisch verarbeitet. Einfach nur lecker!

Es war eine großartige Entdeckung in Köhl. eines der drei besten asiatischen Gerichte der Stadt. Ja oder Ja. Die erwartete Zubereitung der Pasta im Allgemeinen, kombiniert mit den Gewürzen und der genauen Zubereitung, nehmen Sie mit auf eine Reise zu verschiedenen Orten.

The place is always full, we came a bit early and were lucky, got a place without waiting. The foods were very delicious especially the fried pork with sechuan peppers. The rice cakes with red sugar were amazing as well.

Sehr, sehr gutes und authentisches chinesisches Essen. Erinnert an meine Besuche in Zentralchina. Doppelfrittiertes Schweinefleisch und Hühnersuppe mit Garnelen-Maultaschen. Stunden danach brennt mein Mund noch (angenehm) vom Szechuan-Pfeffer und MSG. Ein Traum 😍😍😍

Little authentic place with the most delicious noodles. Tables are simple and not extremely comfy, but all is worth it for the food. Even with a reservation we had to wait around 10 mins to be seated.
