Unfortunately, our group went home rather disappointed. We ordered everything from the menu once and got a good overview. The price/performance ratio for the dishes was far below expectations: the dishes were really very small and sparingly prepared, the trout, for example, was very lonely and unadorned, as was the yellow beetroot, the pasta dish consisted of 4 thick tagliatelle noodles, etc. The wines were ok. We probably won't come back.

It's hard for me to deduct a star because it's only due to the ambience. I miss the comfort here. But the service and especially the food make it better. The food was absolutely top class. I had asparagus with mashed potatoes and it sounds rather boring. But it was the best asparagus I've ever eaten. Great roasted aromas with the finely balanced mashed potatoes and chard were a taste explosion. I haven't raved so much about food in a long time. The wine tasting option was also great and is a rarity. Actually an 11/10, for food, drinks and service. We will be back.

We went to a small dinner in the cheerful nature. The ambience in this typical post-war Cologne house is ok. The interior is reserved, calm and unspectacular. The service was very good. Great wine advice, friendly, attentive service without being annoying. TOP! The wine list is, as expected, very extensive, with many special wines. The food menu is manageable, but peppered with great little details. Less suitable for veggies/vegans. The food tasted great! The asparagus, the refined radishes. However, €5 for a few small slices of (delicious) bread!? Ugh... The price level is generally quite high. At the same time, it should be mentioned that great attention is paid to regional and sustainable ingredients. Thanks !

An absolute recommendation. The service is top notch, the ambience is minimalist but still has a feel-good atmosphere. The menu is nice and small and well thought out and the food is, in my opinion, at star level. Regional and sustainable sourcing of all ingredients and ingenious ideas such as dry-aged fish and tiramisu on koji without coffee and cocoa. Wine list and especially wine recommendation perfect, not snobby or unpleasant in the advice. Honestly: Currently the best restaurant in Cologne!

A nice restaurant with unfortunately loud background noise from the bowling alley. Unfortunately, the yeasty-looking wines (because they are not filtered) are not to our taste. We didn't find a single one that appealed to us. Had to drink beer, which was tasty. Unfortunately, the food is completely overrated and far too expensive for the quality, taste and (lack of) sophistication. The portions are incredibly small. Unfortunately, in my opinion, this store is just hip and overrated.

WOW! What an experience. We were in the wine bar on a Saturday evening and everything was perfect for us. From the friendly service to the fresh wines to the delicious food. I really can't remember the last time I ate so well. The dishes may sound a bit simple on the menu, but they are a real taste explosion! It's been a while since our visit there and I don't normally write reviews, but since the visit was unfortunately one of the worst culinary experiences we've ever had for all three of us, we have to get it out of the way here. The concept itself is wonderful, the food is incredibly tasty and the chef is super friendly. Unfortunately, everything around it was just a disaster. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived, so we wanted to have a drink at the bar, where we were told that we were actually just being a nuisance; We asked 3 times in almost 30 minutes to get a wine, which was then slammed in front of us unopened and annoyed. When we wanted to sit down, the third chair was missing. We finally decided on the menu, the portions were not given out per person but were individually designed and served on a shared plate. Unfortunately, with 3 people we always had significantly less than the table next to us with 2 people. Our neighbors approached us at some point and said that we had done a really clever job of sharing a menu between the three of us. When we explained to them that we actually ordered 3 menus (and paid for them in the end) the two girls were stunned. The sommelier has an uncanny arrogance and at times we just felt like we were being made fun of because of the incredibly condescending behavior towards us. Paid €110 per person, left the store hungry and completely stunned. We wanted to proudly show our friend from Paris how cool and friendly Cologne restaurants and their employees are and why we feel so much more comfortable in Cologne than in the hyped but unfortunately often very condescending Berlin. Unfortunately, the attempt completely backfired. As I said: great chef, super delicious food. But the whole concept around it and the super casual manner of some of the employees (not to generalize, they also had a really nice waiter) were just unpleasant.

The location could definitely be more stylish. Everything is very plain. The wines are unusual, but you have to like natural wines to like them (wines are spontaneously fermented, unsulfured, unfined and unfiltered). When it comes to food, in my opinion the price-performance ratio is not at all good. The quality of the dishes is ok, but the prices are completely exorbitant. There is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to presentation, plates and serving style. Unfortunately we weren't satisfied.

My expectations for the food and wine were very high because I had read very positive reviews here. Unfortunately, when choosing the wine, we were not informed that the wine was sparkling... First (small) disappointment. Although we expressed our taste. Also, one of the main courses was neck steaks. 90% of the plate was just fatty… and not edible. The meat didn't live up to expectations at all. On the other hand, the vegetables were very tasty. But you can't charge €30 for a plate that you can only eat a small part of... The atmosphere was good and the waitress received our feedback positively. We think it's a shame that the food didn't meet our expectations because we really liked the concept and the atmosphere.

Unfortunately it fell far short of expectations. Both the food and wine simply weren't convincing. The service was very nice and attentive. But both the kitchen and the service are obviously not up to the standard in terms of craftsmanship in this price range. All I can say about the wines is that for prices up to €16 per glass, it's simply not possible to use the cheapest, small, thick-walled wine glasses. This completely contradicts the concept of offering expensive and special wines if you then serve them like cheap beer... The dishes initially taste quite good, but are not seasoned well. Every dish was one-dimensionally overemphasized, be it sweetness or simply too much salt. The idea of offering main courses without side dishes also contradicts any logic of fine dining, where flavors and textures have to work together. Unfortunately a lot of hype and poorly implemented. Certainly more harmonious as a rustic pub with a cozy atmosphere and reasonable prices.

Unfortunately, you are greeted with such arrogant arrogance that the store can never be what some see it as. Service is the first and last impression in a restaurant. No matter how smart you think you are or how stupid you think your guest is in your natural wine expertise, you are still friendly, polite and courteous. Unfortunately, the “sommelier” is completely out of place here. I have never received worse wine advice. The food was delicious, but was clearly too expensive and too small in size. There is absolutely no value for money here. If you look through the lens of the average person from Ehrenfeld, whose culinary horizons don't extend beyond green seed patties, this is certainly a great shop and "something very special" because you can even leave your hat on here. For anyone who likes to eat well, there are many addresses in Cologne where the overall package is just right.

The focus should be on the ingredients. Fresh & regional A concept that certainly fits well between “simple cuisine” and “upscale cuisine”. Starter *Tagliatelle Ragout* 5/5 perfect Main course *Trout* 3/5 Trout was delicious, the sauce tasted mostly like Sriracha, which doesn't quite fit with the fresh concept in my opinion Dessert *Crêpes* The crepe was delicious, the filling tasted very strongly of basil ice cream. Out of 6 people, no one really liked the combination 2/5 Class instead of quantity but somehow for €55 it's just not enough. So we ordered bread, egg salad and pickled cucumbers in advance. The butter for the bread was probably enriched with spores, which was supposed to give it a slightly cheesy taste. In our opinion it's rather musty. With the appetizers, the price is too close to the "fine cuisine" and so the cheerful nature has not yet found the sweet spot in my eyes. Service was attentive, quick and friendly 5/5 The bowling alley works rather poorly because the pins keep falling over on their own. There is no real joy in playing. Trying to keep the old bowling alley and integrating it into the concept seems difficult to me. All in all, still too much self-discovery. After self-discovery, it can become a good restaurant.

Finally, you no longer have to go to Paris to enjoy contemporary bistro cuisine. The product quality is outstanding, vegetables, fish, meat from excellent farmers, the individual dishes are boldly seasoned, after the menu you go home full and happy. Also fun because of the wonderful wine accompaniment, lots of new things off the beaten track, but also a few nice classics. It's best to just drink champagne anyway, then you can also go bowling in the in-house bowling alley. Nomen est omen, long live the cheerful nature.

I have to agree with the opinions here: the portion size is not appropriate. With 6 courses, you should just leave the restaurant halfway full. Food is without a doubt very tasty. Service takes some getting used to. It was very nicely explained to us which wines are also suitable for people who “like conventional wines”. Furthermore, our table was already taken again, which is ok, but the process should be timed so that you can eat the entire menu at your seat.

The Frohnatur wine bar. Let's start with the question: "What is natural wine anyway?" a service employee looked at us expectantly. “Are you telling us, or are we taking a quiz here?” Natural wine is not a fixed term, the Frohnatur Weinstube only serves wines from biodynamic cultivation, that’s how I understood it and hope I’m saying it correctly. But let's actually start at the beginning. We reserved a table for 8 people, which seemed to pose a challenge for the kitchen. It was quickly made clear to us that there are 2 chefs, 2 hotplates and an oven and that if we all decided on a dish a la carte, it would take a long time for the dishes to be ready, so we would be better off choosing the menu should, which you share from shared plates, but costs a decent €66 per person. Difficult. After consulting together, we all decided on the menu. 11 “courses”. For everyone a little bread, half a stuffed egg, an oyster, pide with egg yolk. We continue with spaghetti with pumpkin, which was so spicy that it burned properly, then a tablespoon of crab risotto for everyone - unfortunately oversalted. Pikeperch on borscht, the piece of pikeperch for two people was approx. 4x5 cm in size. The tofu in mushroom stock and the piece of duck on mashed potatoes were tasty and good. Finally, a piece of salted caramel cake and “Apple Eton Mess” – translated: apple with cream, all to share! I can say that I always respect when young people implement their visions and work on their dreams. The atmosphere in the Frohnatur Weinstube is too hipsteresque and cool for me, the service is too cheeky and the friendliness and empathy could be improved, the mise en place is too simple. We were full, yes, but at €66 per person per menu I wish there was a little more common thread. In terms of setting and cuisine, we are not in the upscale gastronomy sector, certainly not in the star range, so the prices are sporty and too high for me. I can't say much about the wine because I only had a pilsner and otherwise water.

Food quality is OK. However, please be careful by selecting a menu. Portions are very small. If you order with three people a menu you only receive one portion for all tree. With two or one people you receive the same size portion. We ordered three vegetarian menus ad euro 45 each. A la carte the different selections are between euro 5 and 12. We only received 7 selections for all three people. We kindly addressed this to the waitress when she asked us about our experiences while paying the bill, her reply was rather odd: she said she did not know what we were served exactly since she was not our waitress throughout the evening. This doesn’t seem to make any sense, as if the sizes of the portions differ per waiter/waitress. A set menu should always be of the same size, I suppose. She also didn’t ask her colleague who actually served us to discuss the matter. She didn’t offer anything in particular in return, she only asked what we ‘needed to improve the situation,’ even though we already had to leave our table since our timeframe was overdue and new people were waiting.

Lecker, aber Preise sind sehr teuer. Hatte ein Hauptgericht für 28 Euro und wurde nicht Ansatzweise satt. Man muss wohl das Menü für 50 Euro nehmen, oder die Kellnerin hätte darüber aufklären müssen, das die Speisen hätten anders kombiniert werden müssen.

Ein Restaurant, wie aus einer richtigen Großstadt. Das Restaurant könnte auch in Paris, London oder Amsterdam bestehen, nur mit dem Unterschied, dass hier quasi alles regional aus dem Rheinland kommt. Weine sind lecker, Essen immer abwechslungsreich und der Service einfach nur lieb!

Ganz klare Empfehlung. Wir waren als Gruppe dort und haben ganz neue Geschmäcker genossen. Mit dem shared menu wurden wir auch auf alle Fälle satt (was ich nach manchen Bewertungen hier nicht gedacht hätte). Das Essen, die Beratung zu den Weinen und die Informationen zu beidem waren super. Eine ganz tolle Atmosphäre und ein tolles Konzept des Ladens. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle gerne wieder. Wer mal etwas „feinschmecken“ möchte, und/oder besondere Naturweine ausprobieren möchte, eine lockere/freundschaftliche und gleichzeitig schöne Atmosphäre genießen möchte, Regionalität usw. auch super findet ist hier auf jeden Fall richtig! Wir konnten als größere Gruppe zudem auch die Kegelbahn genießen. Danke für den tollen Abend! PS: für wen 70-80€ pro Person vielleicht zu viel ist: wir haben wirklich einmal die ganze Karte bekommen und 4 Weinflaschen inkl. Getränke bestellt. Man kann sich auch sicherlich mit geringerem Budget hier einen wundervollen Abend machen :-)

'Frohnatur Weinstube', in der Köln-Ehrenfelder Hansemannstraße... Weinseeligkeit scheint eher fern. Die 1950er-Nachkriegssachlichkeit der wiederaufgebauten Großstadt ist umgebend noch durchaus sichtbar. Die Fröhlichkeit der Naturen der Passanten (und mancher Gäste) liegt wohl ab und zu eher in den Herzen als auf den Lippen. Im Lokal selbst: ein im Prinzip sehr traditionelles rechteckiges Ladenlokal mit großem Spiegel, Tresen, eng gestellten Tischen. Heute neu, gepflegt, sachlich, modern. Helle, glatte, sparsam bebilderte Wände, textilfrei. Daraus folgt eine etwas ungünstige Akustik. Aber: Das servierte Essen ist sehr gut. Regional, saisonal, ethisch. Man bestellt das Menü, vegetarisch oder mit Fleisch. Kundig, pointiert, zugewandt erläutert das motiviert-sympathische Personal jedes der diesmal 14 Einzelgerichte und weist auf das jeweils Besondere hin. Geschmacklich eröffnen sich dabei - und besonders im Verzehr - bunte, teils unkonventionell-urige Welten, die nicht affig sind. Die Klammer liegt in der Wertschätzung der Zutaten, der gekonnten Reduktion auf Primärgeschmacke derselben, bisweilen in so etwas wie einem kulinarischen Brutalismus, der sich in der Lokalwand zu spiegeln scheint. Da passt das grobe Meersalz als additives Leitmotiv. Wie auch das Gruppenerlebnis, das dadurch entsteht, dass Portionen gebündelt serviert werden und sich der Einzelgast davon auf seinen Individualteller selbst bedient. Ach ja, der Wein spielt auch seine Rolle: Regional im weiteren Sinne, unkonventionell, passend. Ein schönes Gesamtkunstwerk wird hier geboten, das man genießen soll - und kann.

Habe mich sehr auf tolle Weine und ein kulinarisches Erlebnis gefreut. Die Weine waren sehr gut - die Küche war jedoch leider sehr enttäuschend. Fünf kleine Tortellini in Vichyssoise 12€. Eine geteilte dickere Scheibe Sauerteigbrot 4€. Drei Rippchen Hokkaidokürbis 8€. Kein Twist oder irgendeine Besonderheit, die den Preis rechtfertigen würde. Es ist ja lobenswert regionale und saisonale Speisen anzubieten, aber eure Preispolitik für das jetzige Küchenkonzept ist leider überarbeitungsbedürftig. Wenn teuer, dann doch wenigstens besonders, anders, außergewöhnlich. Bietet doch die grösseren Tortelloni an, sodass sich der Gast nicht komplett veralbert fühlt. Auch das Brot hätte kurz angeröstet warm serviert werden können, damit es wenigstens suggeriert, es wäre frisch.

Freunde, wer in Köln auf der Suche nach ehrlichem, regionalem Genuss und exzellenten Weinen ist, wird in der Frohnatur Weinstube fündig! Was Johannes, Pauline, Armin und Pit hier kredenzen, ist schlichtweg fantastisch. Das Menü besteht stets aus regionalen (um Köln herum) Zutaten und ist perfekt, ja auf Sterne-Niveau abgeschmeckt (darf ich so?). Meine Highlights waren der Zander und die frittierten Austernpilze mit Ajvar-Tomaten. Die Weinkarte, fern des Mainstreams, lässt auch nichts vermissen und hält für jeden Geldbeutel dutzende Tropfen bereit… Es gibt dazu noch eine Kegelbahn!! Was bleibt mir noch zu sagen? Reservieren, hingehen und erleben. Danke <3

Ein fantastischer Ort! Das Konzept und die Menschen die hinter Frohnatur stehen sind: modern, aufgeschlossen, nachhaltig engagiert, dem Genuss gewidmet und Profis im Gastgeben. Das Menü ist ein Feuerwerk der Genüsse, der Wein dazu bietet eine grandiose Begleitung. Keine Angst, nicht nur Naturweinfreaks finden hier was. Im Zweifel: dem talentierten Sommelier Pit vertrauen. Das Menü ist kreativ, das Sharing Menü erlaubt, dass sich jede:r durch alles durchkosten kann. Wer denkt, das es zu teuer wäre sollte tatsächlich einen anderen Ort aufsuchen: das Menü wird von Armin von sorgfältig ausgewählten Produzenten aus der Umgebung kreiert. Das ist nicht nur vorbildlich, man schmeckt es ganz einfach auch. Pauline & Johannes sind die reizendsten Gastgeber, die man sich vorstellen kann. Junge Menschen die einfach Spaß an dem was sie machen haben! Grande!!! Dieser Laden ist eine echte Bereicherung für Köln. ♥️♥️♥️

Wir waren das erste und wohl das letzte Mal in der Weinstube. Als „fine Dining“ würden wir das Lokal eher nicht beschreiben. Aber von vorne: wir wurden freundlich begrüßt, haben uns auf einen schönen Abend gefreut, die Karte gelesen und uns zum Wein beraten lassen. Neben der Tatsache, dass der Sommelier alles besser wusste, was uns schmeckt und wie ein Wein zu beschreiben ist, war die Empfehlung leider einfach nicht gut und passend. Keine Nachfrage zur Empfehlung, kein Probierschluck vorab, der die lange Diskussion zum Wein überflüssig gemacht hätte. Für die Essenbestellung wurde uns empfohlen vier Gerichte zu bestellen da alles zum teilen ausgelegt ist. Wir folgten der Empfehlung und bestellten für 80€ Speisen für zwei Personen. Die Speisen waren lecker, deutlich zu wenig bemessen um sie zu teilen und dafür wirklich teuer. Unser „Highlight“ waren ZWEI Flusskrebse für 21€. Nach reichlich Unverständnis und Gegenargumenten zu unseren Nachfragen zum Konzept und zur Kalkulation bestellten wir die Rechnung, auf der Brot und Butter abgerechnet wurden, was wir zwar bestellt hatten, die Nachbartische aber nicht, die es dennoch erhalten hatten. Am Ende bleibt ein Abend nach dem wir nicht gesättigt und mit einem unangenehmen Gefühl das Lokal verlassen haben. Leider im Verhältnis Qualität-Service-Preis keine Empfehlung.

Ich wollte kurzfristig meinen 27ten Geburstag feiern und Spaß in Einklang mit höchstem Genuss bringen. Was soll ich sagen, besser hätte es an keinem anderen Ort werden können. Schlemmend wie junge Götter und nur den feinste Rebensaft in unseren Kehlen, ließen wir die Kugeln 19,5 Meter Richtung Kegel donnern. Der Service war außerordentlich freundlich und zuvorkommender, als manche millennial Mütter wenn es um die Buffet Planung des jährlichen Kita Sommerfests geht. Ca.13 Gängen feinstem Gaumschmaus und 8 Flaschen Wein später, haben wir die Stube verlassen. Wir denken noch oft an dich, ja ich denke noch oft an dich. Frohnatur, ich glaube ich bin verliebt.

We had a date that ultimately took us from Wuppertal to Cologne to the café, the love didn't last. I'll be visiting the café more often now. It was a fantastic atmosphere there & the crepes were perfect
