Bâ Badiyel in Erfurt

It's a shame the kitchen closes at 9 pm even though it says everywhere that it's open until 10 pm. I made a half-hour unnecessary detour from the motorway. That could have been avoided.

By far the best Turkish food I've had in a long time. Great service, superb vegetarian appetizers, and a spit-roasted lamb loin I'd never had before. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Erfurt.

We today visited this restaurant and had a mixed experience overall. For starters, we ordered baba ghanoush and phyllo cheese rolls. The baba ghanoush was really delicious and well-prepared, but the cheese rolls unfortunately had a strong taste of burnt or overused oil. For the main course, we chose Adana kebab. It was interestingly served in a tomato sauce after grilling — something I had never seen before. Perhaps it’s done to suit local tastes that prefer a softer and juicier dish, but personally I felt it completely changed the concept and texture of the kebab. Instead of a grilled, juicy kebab, it became more like a cooked meat dish. In addition, the kebab contained a lot of lamb fat, which gave off a strong smell and made it quite chewy instead of tender. What affected our experience the most, however, was the service. Although we had made a reservation the day before, we were seated downstairs, completely alone. That was not a big issue by itself, but after the waitress served our starter and main course, we never saw her again. No one came to check if everything was fine or if we needed anything — even a simple glass of water. When I mentioned this politely to the waitress at the end, she replied that she had already come twice and couldn’t keep going downstairs just for two guests. The thing is, those two times were only for serving the dishes, and it wasn’t us who chose to be seated downstairs in the first place. Finally, the portion size and overall quality and service didn’t really match the price level. While some dishes were tasty, the overall dining experience unfortunately didn’t meet our expectations. ----- Because of the business owner's response, I would like to add a few clarifications. First, I never said the kebab wasn’t grilled. I said it was grilled, but its taste had changed due to the added tomato sauce. Secondly, I mentioned that this part is a matter of personal taste, but the amount of fat and the strong smell of grease made it quite unpleasant and hard to eat. Regarding the table — the first table we were offered was located right in front of the entrance, about one meter from the door, which was uncomfortable because of the cold air and constant movement of people. Meanwhile, there were other free tables on the lower half-level, and we asked your waitress if we could sit there. She said they were reserved, but even until we finished our meal and left, some of those tables were still empty. Finally, when I heard your waitress say, “I can’t keep going downstairs just for two people,” I honestly didn’t think there was much left to discuss after that. I was planning to speak with the management while paying, but the waitress herself took the payment. You asked from a distance how the food was, and I just said “good” — of course, I didn’t want to start explaining everything that had happened from that distance.

Six of us dined at this restaurant, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. The owner, in particular, gave us a lot of personal attention. All the cold mezes offered were delicious, especially the lamb chops and tenderloin, which were incredibly tender (and filled our plates). We finished our evening with fresh baklava and Turkish tea. 🙏🏼👍🏼

As a fellow Turkish woman, I highly recommend this restaurant. I had visitors whom I wanted to treat to some great Turkish cuisine, as they hardly knew it themselves. Ba Badiyel delighted my guests with its fantastic food and ambiance. We'll be back ;) Thank you 🙏

Unfortunately, it's not true that you can have breakfast there. It's advertised online on the restaurant's website. Unfortunately, this meant the trip into town was wasted.

We were full of anticipation and were looking forward to the recommendation. We and our friends were delighted when they said everything would be fresh, but unfortunately, our discovery in the vaulted cellar put a damper on the staff's confidence! The canned goods are lovingly stored there. We saw them by chance, as our son had wandered there. Our conclusion! If you like Turkish food, you should be prepared for the fact that a lot of it will come from cans. The staff were very friendly.

We went to Badi with a large family (24 people) this weekend for our daughter's first day of school. And we're very happy with our choice. The atmosphere is warm, the food and drinks were absolutely fantastic, and the service was straightforward and trustworthy. We were able to order a set menu with ease, and it included everything. At the end of the more than sumptuous feast, we were allowed to take the leftovers home with us. Everyone was happy that the delicious food wasn't thrown away. Half the party ate it all again the next day :-D Definitely recommend it – we'll see you at the next family reunion!

The platter is delicious, the lamb is juicy and crispy, and the sauce is soothing. The waiter took the initiative to introduce how to eat it.

We visited recently when briefly in Erfurt between trains. The staff were so helpful letting us know what would be ready in time for us and the food was wonderful (including the special hommus with truffle oil we were given to sample). It was a lovely atmosphere eating in the courtyard and we will definitely come back for a more leisurely meal next time we are in town.

We went to Bā Badiyel for dinner today based on the good reviews. The service was okay. We opted for the lemon chicken and Adana, along with homemade mint lemon lemonade. The lemonade was sugary sweet. The main courses were barely seasoned, the rice was overcooked, there was no side salad, and no bread. There was a bit of dressed raw onion on the plate, along with two grilled party tomatoes and one champignon. Small portions, very poor value for money. This had nothing to do with good Turkish cuisine. Even a snack is sufficient before the main course, for example, dips and bread as a small greeting from the kitchen. The atmosphere was okay, but there were dirty corners everywhere.

DER OFEN FEHLT! Bewährte leckere Gerichte sind nicht mehr auf der Speisekarte. Das Brot war nicht mehr selbst gebacken, sondern billiges Discounter-Fladenbrot, etwas geröstet. Bei den Gerichten fehlte es an den Beilagen, die wir dann extra bestellen mussten. Die Preise dafür trotzdem im höheren Segment. Schade!

This restaurant is definitely worth recommending. There were four of us. We had the cold and warm appetizer platters. There was plenty to try and enjoy. Unfortunately, we were already full afterward.

We had Adana skewers and lamb chops. -The food was good to okay. -You can get it at an oriental/Arabic snack bar, but it was much cheaper. -The menu said it had grilled mushrooms (plural), but there was only one. -The food was simply placed on the table; no one asked if everything was tasty, no reordering of drinks or dessert. -Even when paying, no one asked if it was good.

My family and I visited this restaurant for the first time. Our expectations were fully met: it was incredibly delicious, varied and homely. The meat dishes were tender and juicy, all kinds of sauces and appetizers were very pleasing. Pleasant Turkish music was playing in the background. We spontaneously visited you last night. The overall impression was very nice. Unfortunately, the food was lacking that certain something, and the price was a bit too high. We generally enjoyed it, but it's not enough to warrant a return.

We went there for dinner and had made a reservation. Even though the place was empty and it was never mentioned that we would be sitting outside, we were seated outside without being asked. The ambiance there is definitely not as nice as inside. We had a vegan appetizer platter and a hot dish with meat and vegetarian alternatives. What must be emphasized is that the dishes, especially the vegan ones, were poorly seasoned. There was a general lack of spice. For the prices, all the portions were too small and not particularly special. Compared to other restaurants, nothing justified the price. What we really liked were the white wines. Unfortunately, this was a disappointment, as the price-performance ratio was not right, and we were simply not pleasantly surprised. There are better alternatives with the same quality and more flavor.

Great food with perfectly grilled, high quality meat! I can highly recommend this place for a nice evening with friends, with vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes to share. If you eat meat, you are in for a treat, with wonderful New Zealand beef and the delicious lamb chops! Don't miss the Turkish wine 🍷 or close your meal with a Raki! Also, the service is very kind and attentive. We are always happy to spend an evening at Ba Badiyel.

We came across Ba Badiyel by chance while strolling past. The ambience and display looked appealing. The food was good and authentic, the quantities were sufficient, the drinks were a bit overpriced in my opinion, the service was very friendly and unobtrusive, a nice dinner. If you visit Erfurt, I'd be happy to do so again.

We spontaneously went to Bâ Badiyel for breakfast on Sunday. The welcome is warm, the unfamiliar dishes and ingredients were explained to us and we decided on the palace breakfast for 2 people. It was really well-balanced (sausage, cheese, sweet spreads, scrambled eggs, ...), very tasty and reasonably priced. Absolute recommendation!

We were there for breakfast today and chose the palace breakfast for 2. We were totally thrilled! The selection was very diverse. All dishes, whether fruit, vegetables or cold cuts, were fresh and simply delicious. Our individual wishes were also taken into account. The price-performance ratio was also great. We got so full that we didn't need anything until dinner. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. For us the best breakfast offer in the area. And best of all: our dog was also very welcome. We'll definitely be back 😍🐶

The restaurant is well located and we became aware of it through positive reviews. The table for 4 was somehow in the draft and wasn't particularly comfortable. The service was friendly and on the ball. That fits. The starters were delicious and tasty. The baked champions are mega. The main courses are also very good, but the portions are too small for the prices. The food could also be served more beautifully.

Since we are in Turkey very often and know the local food, we wanted to try Turkish cuisine here at home. The food was also good but a bit overpriced in my opinion. The starters were very good. The homemade lemon mint lemonade was very refreshing and tasty but there were too many ice cubes. The ambience was very disappointing. Not only did it seem cold, it was cold. The warm oriental flair was totally missing, there were no rakı bottles on display, but there was plenty of wine. That certain something with just a few decorative objects or a rakı to greet/farewell would give the whole thing a kick. That's why I only give it 3/5 points.

Delicious typical Turkish dishes, unfortunately presented too carelessly and too expensive... The restaurant wasn't really full, but the waitresses were still slightly stressed, we missed the typical smile! The ambience is cold, not really orientally warm or cozy! We love Turkey and its hospitality, unfortunately we missed that feeling here in the restaurant! The menu is small but ok, you have to pay dearly for free starters that are typical of the country! Instead of flatbread from the industrial bakery, you could offer home-baked pide. The restaurant lacks a fine touch, some “döner kebab shops” are better equipped… Good luck, I'm a tough, critical person but also honest with my opinions.

Unfortunately the food wasn't as expected. The starter platter for 2 people was served without a green leaf and without a yoghurt dip. As a result, the entire meal was extremely dry and boring. We were very disappointed. Despite asking for a dip or something similar, we were only offered a small salad for an additional charge. Well, I know Turkish food differently. Too bad, not recommended and no repetition necessary.

On a business trip we discovered this fine restaurant online and booked a table - the manager was more than accommodating and helpful - there was a problem with the reserved table and we were called again to confirm that it was the same definitely works. The atmosphere is nice, all the staff are more than friendly. The food: incredibly tasty and very attractively served. The finest grilled vegetables, the greatest dips, a very fine salad. I'm really excited. I'm a regular visitor to Erfurt and it certainly wasn't our last visit here.

Within walking distance of our company, professional, attentive and very courteous service, combined with super authentic Turkish cuisine. The menu is very balanced, so that vegetarians can also find what they are looking for. Freshly cooked and piquantly seasoned, so that memories of the last visit to Turkey are brought back. Sehr freundliches und aufmerksames Personal und erstklassige Küche! Schon die Vorspeisen sind toll, aber auch die Hauptgerichte waren sehr lecker - wir hatten rein vegetarisch gespeist. Bleibt noch zu erwähnen, dass auch unsere Hundedame freundlich mit Wasser bewirtet wurde.

I come from the Rhineland and actually only knew Turkish snack bars. Since my first visit in the summer of 2023, I have been in love with Turkish cuisine and this restaurant. Now I was back in Erfurt and in my favorite Erfurt restaurant. The people who work here are simply charming and create a feel-good atmosphere. It's clear that the food is delicious.

Turkish restaurant with tasty food and friendly service. The staff made us feel well taken care of from the moment we walked in. The food, however, was a bit hit and miss. The vegetarian main dish of grilled, pureed aubergines with a medley of well-seasoned vegetables and fresh yoghurt sauce was divine. The combination of smoky, slightly spicy, and acidic flavors was delightful, and we couldn't resist wiping the plate clean with the warm, fluffy bread. The hummus was smooth and earthy, and the kibbeh were juicy and fried to perfection. However, the baba ganoush was a bit of a letdown as it was served too cold and lacked any depth of flavor. Additionally, it was disappointing that they had run out of all their desserts except for baklava, which sadly was dry and stale. While the food was somewhat hit or miss, the service more than made up for it. The main critique would be the pricing. At ~20€ for a vegetable main and 8€ for just two pieces of kibbeh, the portions didn’t quite match the price point. Come here for a friendly service and some standout dishes, but be prepared for a mixed food experience and higher prices.

One of the best Turkish restaurants you can find in all of Germany. The meat is of high quality, the appetizers are good and there is a very warm atmosphere. I definitely recommend it.
