Good Bavarian cuisine that won't disappoint. It's also been very good as an event venue with its large hall. The only downside is the relatively early kitchen closing time.

We went to the restaurant for lunch on Boxing Day with our family (23 people). We were given a lovely private room of the perfect size. Despite the hustle and bustle of the full restaurant, the service was extremely attentive, very quick, and more than friendly. The food arrived promptly and almost simultaneously. I had the pork shoulder with potato dumplings. The dish tasted very good, but unfortunately, the crackling was anything but crispy—more like shoe leather, which was a real shame. Otherwise, we were all very satisfied and would like to thank the dedicated team for the wonderful time.

We had a candlelit dinner at the restaurant; it was our first time there. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The food was delicious and the waitress was very friendly. We will definitely visit the restaurant again.

We've been there several times. The location is truly beautiful. Especially around Christmas time, it has a wonderfully rustic, cabin-like atmosphere. That makes it all the more disappointing that the food occasionally doesn't live up to the same standard. What I mean is – for example, fries that were far too hard and greasy (see example picture), or chicken that was tough with curdled sauce. After complaining to the waitstaff, we received the fries and the other food again – in significantly better quality. Please ensure that the kitchen delivers food of excellent quality – just like the beauty of the location itself.

A wonderfully cozy atmosphere, and the menu is extensive with plenty of choices. The dishes are beautifully presented, delicious, and you definitely leave satisfied. I would especially like to mention and highlight the service and hospitality. Meli gave us an incredibly warm welcome and was extremely helpful. We didn't have a reservation on Friday evening, but Meli still took great care of us and found us a table. She looked after us attentively and kindly throughout the entire evening. We will definitely be back just because of Meli. Best regards and keep up the good work!

A very charming Bavarian restaurant. The cordon bleu was excellent. Despite the busy lunchtime rush, the staff was very friendly. This won't be our last visit!

We had our Christmas party in the hall. It's very large, but a bit uncomfortable. The outdoor area was quite nice and decorated for Christmas. The Christmas decorations in the hall were lost in the shuffle. We were disappointed with the food. The pike-perch fillet had many bones, and it came with spinach instead of the vegetables listed on the menu. My pork fillet was dry, there was very little sauce, and the vegetables (carrots and tiny florets of cauliflower and broccoli) were tasteless and very soft. It was regrettable that almost everyone's food was cold. A shame, I expected something different for the price.

We regularly come here for family celebrations and are always very satisfied with the organization, the facilities, and of course, the food. The service is very friendly and well-organized, so we can always eat at the same time, even with a large group. The quality of the food is consistently high, and it's always delicious.

Almost €12 for a slice of goat cheese with dry baguette and salad. ~€18 for three kinds of dumplings = 3 very small dumplings and a huge, monotonous, oily salad (what is the chef thinking? Don't vegetarians want to eat?) ~€18 for lumberjack steak: dry meat, greasy fried potatoes. Service was friendly. The atmosphere was typical of a pub. Very loud. We wondered why it was so busy. We cannot recommend it.

We were a party of eight for dinner, and despite having made a reservation over a month in advance, we were given an uncomfortable table right next to the kitchen, even though there were other tables available. The place was extremely drafty and noisy. Unfortunately, the food was also not recommended: the fried chicken was like processed meat, the Brussels sprouts with the venison were mushy, the vegetables with the pike-perch were overcooked, and the potatoes were cold. Even the waitstaff couldn't salvage it. A real waste of money...

The "Am Auwaldsee" restaurant in Ingolstadt consistently impressed us during three consecutive visits and therefore deserves a clear 5 out of 5 stars. Upon entering, the cozy, rustic ambiance immediately stands out, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The blend of traditional furnishings and well-maintained surroundings is particularly pleasing, making the stay very enjoyable from the start. The staff made an extremely friendly and helpful impression every evening. Reservations were handled smoothly and reliably, indicating excellent organization. The service was always attentive without being intrusive, and the service was prompt and genuinely warm. Another highlight was the food: The dishes were consistently delicious, freshly prepared, and served in generous portions. The selection offers something for almost every taste, and special requests were also accommodated with care. It's also worth mentioning that the restaurant is very dog-friendly – ​​our dog was not only tolerated but even received some treats and water, which we found to be a particularly thoughtful and kind gesture. The restrooms were clean and well-maintained, which rounded off the positive overall impression. Overall, we couldn't find any drawbacks. The service, the food, and the atmosphere were all excellent in every respect. Anyone looking for a restaurant with good food, friendly staff, and a pleasant setting (Auwaldsee) on the outskirts of Ingolstadt will certainly be satisfied here. A thoroughly enjoyable experience that makes a visit highly recommended.

Super friendly service and great food.

On our last day of vacation, on our way home, we spontaneously pulled off the highway to have lunch at your restaurant. What a great find! Beautifully located, easily accessible, plenty of parking, and most importantly: delicious food! We received a warm welcome and were fortunate enough to be seated in the already quite full dining room without a reservation. Despite the large group, the service was prompt. And the very best part—for which I am extremely grateful—was that my hat, which I had accidentally left behind in the restaurant, was sent to my home by post. Thank you so much! We will definitely be back!

The food was okay, but nothing special, and unfortunately, the dishes were served at such different times that practically no one ate together. Then the wrong dish arrived, which was replaced, but we were still charged for two separate meals. The bill included drinks and dishes we never ordered, let alone received. The owner's responses were utterly unacceptable. Stay away. You're not treated like a guest here.

I ate my favorite dish there yesterday, egg noodles with cream sauce. They were inedible, completely mushy, and had a strange flavor. The sauce also tasted strange. After two forksfuls, I pushed the plate away. I've never eaten such disgusting egg noodles in a Bavarian restaurant. This dish urgently needs to be prepared differently.

The service and ambiance are truly impressive, nothing negative to say. My meal (Tafelspitz), the meat was really good, but the side dishes were barely warm. The sauce was absolutely greasy, probably from the (buttered vegetables) that were probably bathed in plenty of butter. But I don't think it would be like that otherwise. We were on our way home from vacation and were looking for a restaurant near the A9 towards Nuremberg where we could have lunch. We ended up here, and it was simply fantastic. We didn't have a reservation, of course, but they still took care of us and found two seats for us. Excellent. And then our ordered food arrived very quickly. A true delight. All in all, top-notch. Top service, top food, top atmosphere. Highly recommended.

The carpaccio was an outrage. The pork roast with a lot of fatty meat, a similar potato dumpling with ready-made sauce and white cabbage salad—at Audi's canteen food, the result would be work refusal, followed by a demonstration. The 350-gram steak was fine, but it came with fries—which didn't taste like my homemade potato fries—and a salad without marinade. To top it all off, a roast beef with onions with a beautifully flavorful, burnt, black crust, inedible, covered with ready-made fried onions that tasted more like frying fat than onions. The fried potatoes had been aged for a few hours and reheated, and a salad where the chef repeatedly forgot to add the marinade. Fire the chef, and I'll be back.

In my opinion, the Kaiserschmarrn was made hours or even days in advance and then simply warmed up in the microwave! It was tough and inedible! The service wasn't particularly friendly! Where is the Bavarian hospitality here?

We wanted to have a portion of Kaiserschmarrn with our grandchildren for dessert today. Unfortunately, it wasn't fresh and became so tough after a few minutes that the pieces were no longer edible (microwave?!!). When we asked the waitress after paying to inform the chef, we missed at least a little bit of Bavarian hospitality. What a pity—we've always been satisfied.

The three of us went to eat based on the top reviews. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food. The snack platter was heartless and there was hardly any spread, and the bread and meat were of the same quality as at Aldi. The currywurst was top-notch, which is why it gets a second star. The spaetzle were greasy and okay. The Schwabenteller (Swabian plate) was a complete disgrace: the vegetables were like frozen mix, the mushrooms looked like they came from a can, and the sauce and meat tasted stale. The drinks were all good, but you can't really go wrong... The service was overwhelmed, unprofessional, and rude at the same time. Upon entering, we were surprised that we wanted to eat there, despite the beer garden being half empty. The service was devoid of any courtesy, and instead of asking if you didn't like your meal, you had to listen to stupid comments about not being able to finish your meal, or instead of opening one of the many umbrellas, you had to change tables, to name just a few examples. In the end, we went to Aldi and stocked up there. We find the 4.6 stars completely misleading, unfortunately...

Was there for lunch on Sunday. Service was friendly and quick. I wasn't that impressed with the food. I had the creamed schnitzel with mushrooms. It was really just a thin slice of schnitzel. So small and quite thin. I counted seven mushrooms. I would have expected more. Sorry.

The waitress wasn't familiar with the restaurant's rules. Her answer, "I don't know because I'm not interested," was quite weak! Otherwise, she was friendly and attentive. I had a typical schnitzel. The schnitzel itself was good. Potato salad was served as a side dish. However, there was so little potato salad that I ended up with half of the schnitzel left and nothing to go with it. On top of that, the hefty price tag of €25 is absolutely excessive! I would have been better off with a steak, which costs almost the same. Smokers need cash if the cigarette machine even works. It throws up system errors when paying by card! Overall, an average 3.

Very delicious food! Even though the outdoor area was very crowded, we easily found space for five people. The beer was freshly tapped and tasted great. Orders were also quick, and the food and drinks arrived promptly at our tables. Plus, a beautiful location on the Auwaldsee lake – highly recommended!

We were actually looking for a restaurant ideally located roughly halfway between Fürth and Munich. We then came across the Wirtshaus am Auwaldsee and were extremely pleased. Excellent food, friendly staff, and the location directly on the Auwaldsee is beautiful and quiet. The large outdoor area accommodates many guests, but I definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. We were there for the second time today and certainly won't be the last. Top-notch!

I go here for special occasions like anniversaries or weddings, where I want a special atmosphere. I'm not rich, so I only eat out for special occasions. In my opinion, the food is absolutely top-notch, and the price is accordingly high, but reasonable in every respect. You certainly won't leave hungry; the portions are truly generous. In any case, this is a restaurant I recommend in every respect.

We were there for three days... (as a guest at the campsite 😉 )... and what can I say? The first evening was perfect, the service and the food were simply perfect... the next day we just wanted an iced coffee for lunch, but unfortunately it was already sold out 😱 strange for such a large restaurant, but who knows what happened. Today, unfortunately, there was no cream left for the ice cream, and no iced coffee either 😢 a real shame... such things shouldn't pose any problems for a business of this size in high season, or am I wrong?

Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed to find that our reserved outdoor table was not honored. This lack of organization was frustrating, particularly given how much we were looking forward to dining outdoor on a nice sunny day. That said, the food did not disappoint. The menu features some truly authentic German dishes, all prepared with great care and flavor. Their selection of cakes and the coffee were also delightful — a perfect way to end the meal. The location is another highlight, offering beautiful views right next to the lake, making it a picturesque spot for a meal. It's definitely worth a visit, but I would recommend double-checking your reservation details to avoid any seating issues.

Unwanted - Unprofessional - Dishonest On August 2, 2025, we were with a group for a seminar at the Wirtshaus am Auwaldsee. We were greeted very rudely by a lady who explained to us that the room we had booked until 5:00 PM had to be vacated by 4:30 PM, and this was supposedly communicated as such. Since the restaurant opens early at 11:00 AM, this was very annoying, as we were made aware from the very beginning of our visit that we were not welcome in the restaurant. During the seminar and the lecturer's presentation, a waitress was taking our drink orders, which was irritating and distracting. Furthermore, the seminar room doors were not closed, and loud music was playing in the entrance area of the restaurant, making it difficult to understand the lecturer. Only after a participant consulted the staff was the door closed. Lunch orders were taken on slips of paper. The meal was served at around 1:30 p.m., which gave the impression of being chaotic rather than coordinated. A cordon bleu was served with such vigor that it spilled over a participant's chair onto the floor with a side dish. Fortunately, the seat was unoccupied at the time. Since paying at the bar had already proven time-consuming at the last seminar, I went to the bar about 10 minutes before the end of the lunch break to pay. The highlight here was that I was asked if I wanted to pay for the entire group's meal. So I stood there for five minutes, even a chef asked me what I wanted and then passed on my previously expressed request to settle the bill to the staff. As the seminar continued, I left the bar, and promptly the waiter came over and wanted to settle the bill in the seminar room. At 3:55 p.m., the waiter started checking out in the seminar room while the seminar was in progress. They constantly compared orders, paid by card, and chatted at the tables. The staff at the Wirtshaus am Auwaldsee should be aware that this behavior is extremely unprofessional and simply disruptive. Not only was our seminar time shortened by 30 minutes, but the billing was impacted by an additional 40 minutes of background noise. Furthermore, one billing statement was incorrect. We left the room at 4:30 PM as requested. A sound check was performed over the room's loudspeaker system, which made it clear to us how unwelcome we were. We were then able to have a few conversations on the terrace in the drizzle. The room had been redecorated (tables moved) and was still unused when I left at 5:46 PM. The statement that the room would be needed at 5:00 PM is completely incomprehensible; rearranging the tables took less than 10 minutes, and the fact that the room was unused until 5:46 PM makes the restaurant staff appear dishonest. Unfortunately, it should be noted that conversations and the clatter of dishes can also be heard through the ventilation vents at the rear of the room. After today's experience, this restaurant is not recommended. They could have easily saved 40 minutes with simple organizational measures, for example, if they had allowed bills to be paid at the bar starting at 4:30 p.m. and not disrupted the seminar. Even then, the room, which was obviously not needed until 5:46 p.m., would have been free at 4:30 p.m. for the 10-minute table clearing process. I won't be back.
