Austernbar in Berlin

Dear oyster bar! My favorite place for fresh oysters and delicious wine for over 20 years. It always tasted very good and I was always very satisfied. I would like to briefly note that I have been a hotelier and restaurateur with international experience for more than 40 years. I last went to the newly restructured oyster bar yesterday. And that wasn't good anymore. First of all, the mixed oyster plate was delicious and fresh as always. I didn't know the new system yet, went to the counter and asked for a card. A white-hatted employee muttered to me that if I wanted to eat, I should go to check-in and be seated. Then I would also get a card. So far so good. But the sound makes the music. It's a shame that I had to wait here for the first time until the "Check-In.euse" had time for me. Although there was still space at the counter, she placed me at a table on the new wall (bush). Far too small, uncomfortable. No communication with other guests possible, which is what I loved about the oyster bar. I now wait for the second time, a good 10 minutes, until a service employee comes to me. Very nice. I order the mixed oyster plate (very tasty) and a glass of white wine. I also tell the employee that I would like an oyster au gratin afterwards. The fresh white comes soon, the oysters after 20 minutes. Order a second white wine, it should go with the oysters (good trick?!). The new oyster plates are very, very large. Unnecessarily big. The oysters sit on a ton of crushed ice. That's likely to cost a lot these days (if it's only used once, right?). Is that necessary? Is that why the oysters now cost an average of 33 euros? And then just two slices of white bread and two flavored slices, which unfortunately I didn't like. My wife had an oyster au gratin last week. Was also very tasty. New dishes here too. She told me it was much more pleasant to eat the gratin from the old plate. The new plate is impractical. I would also like to say something about the oyster au gratin that I ordered, but unfortunately I didn't get it. My waitress came to my table again and took the order. When I asked again after 20 minutes, another employee said that the order had not been placed. Not “unfortunately it wasn’t bonked”. Simply a technical description of your own misfortune. I then paid and left. Without “check-out”. It's all a shame. Expensive and a shame. See you soon? There are now alternatives in Berlin. PS: Do you love oysters? Then treat yourself to a trip to Cancale in France. The mother of all oyster areas. One oyster, fresh, size 3, 60 cents a piece. Taste sensational.

Today I had dinner again at the oyster bar in KaDeWe with my uncle and my father. As always we were not disappointed. The service there is just great. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular visitor, you'll always be treated with the same friendliness and professionalism. That's exactly what makes the oyster bar so special: everyone feels welcome here, and that has unfortunately become rare these days. What I particularly appreciate: If you feel like something else after the oysters, you don't even have to change places. The menu from the neighboring restaurant “Fischkutter” will be brought directly to the oyster bar upon request. So you can sit relaxed and enjoy fish or other seafood, for example. And then of course the food itself – a real treat! The oysters were perfect, as always, and the other dishes we had (fish fillet, red snapper and king crab) were also of first-class quality. You can simply taste that only the freshest ingredients are served here. For us, the oyster bar at KaDeWe in Berlin is the absolute number one when it comes to seafood. If you appreciate great food and excellent service, I highly recommend this place.

Always worth a visit, nice older gentlemen serve the best quality oysters and the like. It is and remains the delicatessen department of a department store. But depending on where you sit, there’s plenty to see in “the sixth”!

Food poisoning at its finest! After thinking about it for a while, I decided to leave a review. We were at the oyster bar on December 6th, 2024. The ambience was okay, the only annoying thing was that the next line forms directly behind you - from the next restaurant if it's full - and you can't move around easily. There was no advice or anything similar. I felt like I was being put off a bit. But it was also good to do. We had the oyster plate and a glass of champagne. Oysters aren't really my thing, but you don't have to like everything. Unfortunately it started a day later with stomach pains and ended with 10 1/2 hours in the toilet and with a bucket at the same time. I had never been so warm and then so cold 10 minutes later. It's possible that I vomited an alien... My immune system was pretty exhausted afterwards and it took me several days to feel fit again. Apparently we're not the only ones with this experience... Therefore: enjoy with caution. My tip for beginners is to maybe only eat one the first time. If I ever try oysters again, it will only be from areas where they come from. Good luck with your own experience!

My friend and I both had very bad oyster poisoning. I even needed treatment at the Charité. After three days I still have cramps and diarrhea. We were regular customers of yours.

Staff is extremely friendly and the selection of the very very fresh seafoods - especially the oysters, of course - is immaculate! Love coming here on a Friday after work to enjoy oysters and a glass of Chablis or Champagne.

After a strenuous day, for me and many others there is no better oasis of relaxation where style, enjoyment and class are combined like at the oyster bar counter of the venerable KaDeWe, which has always stood for quality.
