Tourist trap! 10 minutes passed before a condition led us to a table. No greeting, half of the service staff can't speak German. The ambience is getting old and the food is sparse and tasteless. Mayo and ketchup cost extra to the currywurst, and you also have to pay for the toilet separately. But with a pint of beer in your head, that no longer matters.

Hearty restaurant with Bavarian flair. Centrally located and easy to reach. Not exactly cheap but okay.

Beef Goulash was spot on (and the best thing I tasted)- rich, tasty beef with hot, buttery noodles. Atmosphere was amazing. The restaurant was bustling with customers and servers bringing food. Many people were trying the huge ham special when we went on Sunday. Great experience!!

Mini portions and being forced to leave money for the toilet. No hello and no goodbye.

A disappointment. Although they recommended the place to us, our experience was very negative. After a brief wait for our order to be taken, it took them an hour to serve our food. When we politely asked about the delay, the waitress abruptly responded that "that wasn't a McDonald's" without letting us speak. We noticed that other tables that arrived later were already eating dessert. The food, when it finally arrived, was not bad. Overall, customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Surely at McDonald's they will be faster, but also friendlier.

They charge the tip without warning, don't trust the staff. Look at the bill before paying, the tip is voluntary, don't be fooled

The staff was really nice, they took care of the customer at every turn, even though it was a busy evening. The food was good and the portions really big, we couldn't eat it all. Beer and wine were really good value for money. A perfect night!

We ate knuckle and currywust, the knuckle is 1kg true, but it is by no means the best knuckle you will ever eat, average quality to poor. The currywust without comment, it is simply a sausage with fries without further ado. They sell us smoke at a price of gold. The worst of all, they force you to pay a 10% tip no matter what, we told them to change it to 5% and they say it's automatic, so they are literally stealing €5 out of your face (apart from the other €5 for water clear). I neither recommend it nor will I return, it is a tourist trap!

The food was very good, the prices were good for the area and the staff was very friendly until it was time to pay. They ask us if we want to leave them a tip and we answer no, the waitress threw the dataphone on the table, turned around and didn't even thank us, which we did and she didn't answer us. YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT NOT EVERYONE IS WILLING TO TIP, at my job they don't give me anything and I am still just as professional.

Food OK. As a group you only get the “small menu” with a limited selection. A meal was completely forgotten, it was difficult to go individually because you could only pay as a group. In this respect: Organization Fail.

Tourist trap and the worst service ever! We came to this restaurant for the first time with three Chinese lady-friends to introduce them to the German cuisine. We were not warned in advance that everyone MUST order a main dish there! We couldn’t just ask for a spare plate- if you want to share one dish, you have to pay 7.50€ for an empty plate! It is only written at the bottom of the menu in the smallest letters possible- people don’t usually read this! The portions are huge and obviously my Chinese friends were not able to eat a whole dish each. Neither could they take the leftovers home as they were leaving back to China. We wanted to order one main dish to share and a couple of appetizers, but were rudely refused by the waiter and got into an argument. Not only we felt awful in front of our friends, but also the mood was totally spoiled. This is not even mentioning that the waiters never use a smile, rude and brought us other orders a few times. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Bad service, I received half of the error card on the order and more than 1:30 waiting between the order and the dish The manager didn't even make the effort to offer half a beer after a long discussion. Argument that it was normal to wait 1:30… the manager is neither professional nor commercial, just like his staff. The tables around were also outraged. In short, no tourist trap

One of the best experiences in Berlin. Great food. I recommend not to eat 2 days before. The most iconic thing was that the atmosphere was ideal and the people there were fantastic.

They didn't have the main dishes, the people who arrived later and ordered later received their dishes earlier, and the dishes that were supposedly no longer available. We waited for over 40 minutes and gave up on our meal.

I would give zero stars if I could. The waiter at the reception we had at 13h was super rude with us, a totally unacceptable attitude. We arrived and explained that we had a reservation, and he just answered “nice” and started staring at us with a very sarcastic/rude attitude just because we didnt say our name right away. He also told my friend to move because she “sits like a princess” in a rude way, a totally unnecessary comment that made us pick our stuff and leave. After trying to call him he just looked at us and ignored us. People like him should not work with customers. If he doesn’t like tourists, he shouldn’t work in Berlin Mitte.

Delicious beer, good food, a bit noisy.

Run away, the prices are indecent for frozen food. A bottle of water cost me 10 euros after the waiter refused to give me water in a carafe. At the time of the bill you will be obliged to pay 10% tips without notifying you in advance of course. Oh yes, if you want to use the restaurant toilets you will have to pay extra. I got it for 30 euros alone, for a dish that would cost at most 8 euros in any restaurant.

I love Munich beer and restaurants and this place didn’t disappoint. The staff were wonderful and food was excellent. It’s a must see!

The pork knuckle portion is huge, I went solo and I was surprised by the size of the plate so if you with someone you can share. Besides that I loved the place and the attention was ok.

It's a good restaurant in the centre of Berlin with a great vibe of German culture. The portions of food are good and service is great! You can enjoy the food with a wide selection of beers and other drinks!

Called in here on my recent trip to Berlin. The atmosphere is busy, the beer is excellent, and the food is some of the best in Berlin. It wasn't ridiculous priced and thoroughly enjoyed my few hours here. It's definitely worth a look for the German beer and food experience..

An authentic German brewery that combines tradition and a great atmosphere. The staff is outstanding: attentive, friendly, and always ready to recommend the perfect beer. I am fairly certain they hated us. We were ready to have a good time and arrived in good spirits. The vibe in the place is nice- good music etc. We asked for tap water and it went downhill from there. The manner of the staff was dismissive at first, and then just horrid. Food was OK. I don't know what we did to upset them :( but hostility pretty much ruined a brilliant day in Berlin.

Restaurant in the Gendarmenmarkt area. Shank good (really plentiful, I recommend one for two), but the meatloaf was inedible. Even the potato dumplings leave something to be desired. The waiters at the entrance welcomed us less than cordially, but on the other hand the waiters who served us were kind. All in all not bad for being in the center of Berlin but you can find better. ‐--‐------ Restaurant near Gendarmenmarkt. The pork knuckle was good (and very generous, I recommend sharing one between two), but the meatloaf was inedible. The potato dumplings were also disappointing. The waitstaff at the entrance greeted us rather coldly, but the servers who attended to us were friendly. All in all, not bad for being in the center of Berlin, but you can definitely find better options.

Terrible service. Extremely rude.

We stopped by spontaneously and without reservation. They put us at a phenomenal table, we were very comfortable. They treated us, being foreigners, with all the kindness and speed in the world. The food was very delicious. The dishes are abundant and appetizing. A big round of applause for the restaurant staff who are able to keep their smiles and humor on a Thursday night, despite the noise, the workload and everything else, an absolute ten. I'll be back!

Disappointed. As past resident of Salzburg / Barvaria region, I'd visit either this Augustiner or Zollpackhof for the Bavarian beer and food. However, the typical Tourist Trap and recenlty the "Toilet Fee Mafia" has nudge me enough to write this... When server present us the bill, it's followed by "Service fees are not included", which I often would respond, "I know"; and the lady outside of toilet - recognized me as a tourist say, "A 1 EUR fee for usage" - even though I know is optional (as written on a fairly long worded paper where she sit) and the fact that the toilet aren't clean suggest that she's essentially 'begging'. What's even worse is that this lady "works together" with another guy who does the same thing at the sister Augustiner (Zollpackhof nearby Berlin Hbf main train station). Bottom line: Come here for the beer as they can't screw that up too much coming in from Munich in a barrel; come here for food as I still think is best value around Berlin, and that's about it.

Great spot for a lunch in downtown Berlin.

The location and accessibility are great, U5 U2 U6 FernDB. The brewery is furnished as you would expect a brewery. The service is nice but not very authentic for a Bavarian brewery, the employees' electronic ordering system works reliably, doesn't forget any receipts and sends them to the right distribution points, the work there is quick and efficient, but beers tend to have little or no head of foam, the service If the recipients at the table are not known (as is the case because the person making the contribution changes frequently), it is better not to ask technical questions, all in all it is more of a soulless assembly line. Similarly with the food: it's enough as a basis for beer consumption, nothing more. Pork schnitzel means there is a pork schnitzel on the plate plus half an almost 3/4 lemon; a tablespoon of cranberries for an additional charge of 2 euros. The potato salad comes a portion. The breading is tight and dense, hardly any waves or bubbles, probably fried in cheap, tasteless oil. Not juicy, no buttery taste, almost unseasoned. If you spread cranberries on the Viennese-style schnitzel, the dry fried breading taste is accompanied by a little forgiving acidity, moisture and sweetness... but all in all it has little to do with the popular classic. The potato salad tastes ok, the color is also a bit dull, the assembly line is running. Conclusion: high canteen quality in a Bavarian atmosphere, fast system service, super central location. Have a good meal!

Highly recommended if you want to eat well at a very reasonable price. Very nice place with a good terrace, and very well attended. We tried the breaded fillet knuckle and the sausages, all delicious. I had never tried the knuckle they make before, juicy on the inside but very crunchy on the outside. Highly highly recommended.

Augustiner is a fantastic spot for authentic German food and amazing beer! The dishes are delicious and hearty, giving a real taste of traditional German cuisine. Basically a cozy Bavarian restaurant with home-style cuisine. However, the service was subpar last time. Went to the restaurant shortly before 2:00 p.m. and wanted to order lunch (served from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.). When the waiter arrived at 2:02 p.m.!! This was rejected at the table - after checking with the restaurant manager. Very small minded and not very customer friendly!!

They recommended it to us because of the quality-price ratio and the truth is that the food is very good, the knuckle was huge, crunchy and delicious, we ordered one for both of us and we were satisfied, the beer was very good and the waiters' attention was very quick and attentive. The place is very well decorated, very authentic and with Tyrolean music. The tip is not included, when they bring you the bill they offer you a 10% tip and ask you if you agree. In my case, since everything was very good and the waiters were fast and friendly, I had no qualms. I think it's the best roast knuckle I've ever tried.

In my opinion it can be described as a typical tourist trap. The service has a special “charm”. The food can safely be described as better fast food. There are better places in Berlin.

Anyone who feels like eating Bavarian food can easily stop here. The service is friendly and, despite the restaurant being full, you are served relatively quickly. We were surprised to find such a full restaurant during the week. I think a disadvantage is that it is very noisy for conversations at the table. You have to speak louder. The food is good and still reasonably priced for this central location. Tip: you should come by public transport, as parking spaces are scarce and expensive.

Terrible experience! I waited for 40(!!!) minutes just to be informed that they didn’t prepared my order, although I’ve asked about it after 20 and 30 minutes. I left the place hungry, angry, and very disappointed.

It seems that Italians are not welcome in this place. The strudel, tiny and with an anonymous flavour, cost €8.50, saved only by the cream. As if that wasn't enough, at the entrance to the bathrooms a lady asks for money to access them - I've never seen people pay for the bathroom in a restaurant. Crowded place, old-fashioned music, detached staff. Really not recommended, Berlin offers much better options. Total disappointment. Quaint Bavarian beer house and restaurant. Very busy, noisy, but worth a visit. Only the service on the outdoor terrace could have been better.

Had an Obazd'n with an extra pretzel. The Obazda is the Bavarian litmus test. Kitchen - it has to be made fresh every day because the onions incorporated cause it to tip over after 24 hours and the Camembert comes through sharply; it has to be homemade, anything else is fake cheese. The Obazda here: pale, tasteless, homogeneous consistency: industrial product, with an attempt to spice it up with fresh onions. Plus a side dish of radishes: watery, tasteless, at least no radish or radish taste whatsoever, but preservative E300, probably industrial goods (Metro?). The bread: crumbly, old, industrial goods. The “freshly baked pretzel” was old and hard from the day before. This place advertises itself with the name of an almost 800-year-old Munich institution, and the contrast to the main building couldn't be greater. Of course, also a statement that Berlin and the numerous tourists there come to terms with. The Augustiner company should withdraw the name. One star for service and ambience.

Had an unpleasant experience during my dinner at this restaurant. Food is delivered very quickly but incomplete, and even after asking for my side dishes I unfortunately did not receive anything. When the waiter came to pay, we immediately asked "What should the bill be?", instead of first asking if we were satisfied. The waiter seemed rude and not very service oriented. We didn't tip because we weren't satisfied, to which he responded "Oh, so you weren't satisfied?". We were then given a suspicious look and the payment was completed without exchanging a word. Finally, a tip is expected in the toilets for a woman who, while holding a piece of paper, tries to convince us that she maintains the toilets there. However, the toilets were smelly and dirty. Unfortunately, I was dissatisfied with my visit and advise everyone not to come here. It is assembly line work made for tourists.

Really nice building but our experience was tarnished by staff demanding tips. Even when going to the WC, a woman shouted at me for not paying her to use the bathroom. The waiter then asked for a tip - but this pressure is unnecessary. Customers must be permitted to leave (or not leave) what they feel appropriate. We normally round up the bill, but given the unnecessary pressure we simply declined - the waiter was not happy and scoffed at us. The food was canteen quality and very basic. Overall very overpriced for what it is.

Every time me and my family come to Berlin, we always come to eat here. The place is cozy and authentic, the food is delicious in here! There is always plenty of people and no matter how many years have passed it’s great! Highly recommend!

Tipico locale Tedesco, con fiumi di birra e grande attenzione delle cameriere in costume a riempire subito i boccali. Tavoli pieni, servizio attento, cibo e prezzi nella media.

We were there for a quick business lunch. Prices were rather high for the amount to be found on the plate. Service was fine and friendly. Nothing special , nothing extraordinary but all good.

La Brasserie allemande dans sa splendeur. L'accueil est sympa, l'ambiance bon enfant, (on dirait que les "garçons" s'amusent en travaillant). En plus les bières sont très bonnes, et elle propose des plats du jours (copieux). Sinon, la carte est bien garnie, avec des spécialités allemandes (Currywurst, escalope panée, jarret de porc...). Située au Gendarmenmarkt, pas loin de la cathédrale française, elle mérite le détour.

If you want to stop drinking beer - this is the place for you! Rude service. It was the middle of the day - and we didn't have half the menu in stock. The food was gone! We waited 20 minutes for beer after ordering! We waited 1 hour for food. How can that be?

Absolute robbery. Food is decent but double normal Berlin prices. Waiters trying to guilt trip you into giving them 20% tip. Avoid.

We had made a reservation online that was valid for 2 hours and when we arrived on site they had no knowledge of it and seated us at a table. After 3/4 of an hour we were informed that our table was occupied elsewhere and complimented us outside with the comment that the table was reserved. The food also left a lot to be desired and was overpriced for the quality. The fries were soggy and the currywurst was more of a ham cracker. Therefore awarding a star for ambience

Anyone who is not afraid to spend an evening sitting on not-so-comfortable chairs and enjoys the typical brewery atmosphere (which is sometimes reminiscent of a train station hall) can always experience fantastically friendly, fast and courteous service here with great pub food ! The half farmer's duck is crispy and virtually fat-free, the pork roast actually always includes a piece of crust, the schnitzel comes in a super-crispy breading, the snacks are really filling and the beer just tastes good... =) The selection is only for vegetarians/vegans quite minimal, but somehow that's to be expected. If you have more than 2 people, it's best to reserve a table in advance!

Unfortunately the waiters are a disaster. We were a larger group, paid individually and everyone was charged a tip without asking. The service wasn't friendly from the start and when we pointed out the calculated tip, they became very rude and told us that it was the least we could do. After 15 minutes of discussion, they deigned to persistently ask everyone for a tip and not calculate it from the start. If you offer good service you are happy to give a tip, but with this kind of condescending manner and the menu is not cheap anyway, definitely not. It's a shame because the restaurant could actually be quite nice. Unfortunately not recommended. Then it's better to go to Erdinger, which is not far away.

Poorest quality Snitchel I have eaten in German! Very thin poor quality mean and the overall taste was that it had been fried in oil that fish had been cooked in. Very unpleasant and disappointing!

Despite having reserved a table (online), we were asked to leave after an hour. There was no reserved sign at the table we were assigned. The waitress who asked us to leave simply turned around and left. We definitely won't be going there again. Fries were soggy.
