Typical German cuisine in this large restaurant with a traditional atmosphere. However, the dishes are not street food, but rather allow you to have a substantial plant-based lunch. Excellent quality. Very quick and necessarily a little hasty service

They recommended this typical German food place to us. Very good service from the maitre'd, solving a problem because there were more people than we had reserved. Good food, knuckle, schnitzel, currywurst, goulasch...Fast and professional service but a little expensive. Little variety of desserts but very good.

Augustiner am Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin brings a solid slice of Bavarian hospitality to the capital. It's fantastic for getting authentic Augustiner beer, especially the Edelstoff, far from Munich. The location is prime, and the food offers hearty Bavarian classics. While not the same historic feel as Munich, it provides a great atmosphere and reliable quality.

Food was yummy,but overpriced. Very touristy, and the chips/fries reminded me exactly of the frozen lidl fries we eat at home;although they are quite nice. Pricey with decent food. They are known for the pork knuckle,I tried some myself and it was good but not too much flavour? maybe that’s the way it is normally cooked.

Could be a nice place if it hadn’t been for the arrogance of the waiters. Not smiling at all and behaving rude when we asked to pay separately. We asked for the receipt, the waitress just walked away with it. Poor behaviour

The food was delicious, the beer was much better, I didn't like that the waiter demanded a tip of either 10, 15 or 20 per cent no less. I thought, as much as I can, give as much as I can or include a tip in the check, I don't have to sit around and count how much it will be.

A restaurant that forces a 10% tip payment and gets angry when asked about it. The service is terrible, and the food is mediocre at best. They even charge extra to use the restroom, which is bizarre. This place feels like a scam — tourists should avoid it and choose one of the many excellent German restaurants instead.

They charged 10% tip without any explanation. And when we ask about it, they don't want to have a conversation about it and just say it's german culture. But they didn't do any service(they just put the extra dishes and we share it by our self). And my german friend said tip is not necessary in german, but they lied to us. If it's a typical Berlin thing, I can understand, but when I asked about it, they said it's mandatory in all of german. I was really disappointed about this restaurant, and it destroyed our trip. I will remember german as this restaurant and I will remember it's unrespectful.

Really tasty, relatively high prices, reasonable service (some of the waiters are very selfish). I really recommend Augustiner's large platter for two people

Typical German restaurant, pleasant atmosphere, professional service, menu with traditional dishes at a good price. The only drawback is that because we are tourists they tell you that the tip is not included and they charge you 10% of the final price for it.

A well-maintained and luxurious restaurant without a doubt, excellent food and a somewhat limited menu, but at the end of dinner I go to the bathroom for toilet facilities and find an illegal janitor with sweets who asks for tips from passing customers, I ask the staff (if they are aware of this) to do something about it.

Great bavarian brewery restaurant.

Loved the Augustine AM was a nice place to have lunch. A friend had the crispy knuckle and I had sausages. Food was great. Weiss beer was awesome. Will definitely visit again

I was recommended this place by a friend who lives in Berlin, and it lived up to the hype!! Upon arrival, the atmoshphere was great, and we really felt the authentic German restaurant vibe we were promised. The staff were great and over the evening they gave us free schnapps. The food was also very good, and it was nice to be eating German food alongside Germans and not tourists.

Typical place to eat the typical Berlin knuckle, the knuckle is baked and has a very crispy and good skin, then the meat is rolled into a ball, difficult to eat, good service and good place.

The food is delicious, but when you finish they try to scam you. They tell you that if you don't pay 10% tip, they have to put it out of their salary. When we refused to pay it (they had already warned us), he spoke to us in a bad manner, and threw the ticket at our food in anger. I don't recommend it.

The host/manger you had working tonight the 29th was the most obnoxious, rude person I’ve ever dealt with at a restaurant. Walked in, said we had three. Blonde racist at the front said we needed a reservation. I said ok. He said we could make one, but we would have to hurry as he was blocking tables. Which I could see him doing. Then said I should get out of his way and he didn’t have time for this. Claimed he was the manager. With those lederhosen he was really playing the part. Great business model insulting guests. Then when I told him I lived in Berlin 20 years ago, he said it was Berliner humor. Zero stars. He should be fired. If I owed this business I would be ashamed of a “manager” telling a guest they don’t want them to eat here.

First of all, you get what you expect, great ambience, great beer and something to eat. Unfortunately the food isn't that great, there's a lot of emphasis on speed. The service was nice but not attentive, and at the end we were asked to pay at 11:15 p.m. because then we wanted to call it a day. Opening hours until midnight.

The atmosphere is nice and the food is delicious. I think it's worth a visit at least once. Schwein Hakse is too big to eat alone. A 10% tip is mandatory.

Sorry, we didn't like it. If we wanted to have a beer for Dad's Day, the tables that were free were filled with dirty dishes from our predecessors and no staff showed up at our place for a long time. The excuse was that there was unfortunately a staff shortage, but it was conveyed to us in a friendly manner. OK!

An authentic German place. We ate there a couple of days and the food was great. The atmosphere is very cozy and you will eat surrounded by local people, something that is appreciated. Tips are not included and in some cases they are required and that can be uncomfortable.

The waiters are overworked and serve reluctantly. The food is expensive and reheated. When it was time to pay, the waiter insisted on charging a tip and asked why we didn't leave him anything extra. Well, how do you expect us to tip you when the service was so bad? Plus, you had to pay to use the restaurant's own bathroom. You feel like you're being held up by your feet and shaken to make the money fall out of your pockets. Not recommended. If I could give zero stars, I would. The four dishes and beers cost €84.

Unfortunately the food was rather mediocre. I had the baked potato salad with potato salad, which tasted just like it came from the supermarket shelf. There was nothing wrong with the Händl itself. My girlfriend had the cheese spaetzle, which was good. The Kaiserschmarrn for dessert had nothing in common with the original version and had too much spice. The beer was good. The service was prompt and competent.

The place was highly recommended to us and we were afraid we wouldn't like it. Honestly, everything we had was delicious. We were looking for typical German food and the knuckle was honestly great. The quality-price ratio is also very good.

I recently dined here and had an amazing experience! The dishes I tried, including the sausages & potatoes, the curry wurst, and schnitzel, were absolutely delicious. Each dish was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Additionally, they offer an excellent selection of beers that complemented the meals wonderfully. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I highly recommend i to anyone looking to enjoy authentic German cuisine.

We were recommended this restaurant through various channels, and it was a great choice. A 100% Berlin restaurant with delicious food at reasonable prices (as reasonable there). The pork knuckle is delicious, as is the soup. Their own beers of all kinds are also delicious.

Tourist trap. I went the other day with my partner and when it was time to charge us, the waiter presented us with the bill and tried to impose a 10% tip on us. When we refused he got nasty and started demanding that we tip him. Correct food, noisy place. They have a woman in the bathroom also asking for a tip for using it.

An Augustinian as we know him from Munich. We ate and drank very tasty and were served more than properly. We sat in a rustic side room that was completely wood paneled. Very nice !

Well, unfortunately that was nothing. Although yesterday - for carnival - we only ordered white sausages. They came quickly, in an open tureen, without a lid, the top two were only half submerged, and the water was only lukewarm... I wanted to complain about it, but my companion stopped me. Since I was invited, I ate the sausages as they were there: unsexy, lukewarm, much too firm... Man, can't you at least train your kitchen staff in white sausage service? It can't be that hard. At the competition you get everything served nice and hot in a closed individual tureen, and the nice waitress says: Please leave it in the water for 10 minutes! Very easy. And after dinner there was a mix-up with the bill. I know, it can happen sometimes, but all in one day, that wasn't great. Conclusion: Never again!

Consigliato da guide e su trip, abbiamo scelto di provare questo ristorante. Devo dire che abbiamo mangiato discretamente bene ,ma non è eccezionale , sembra turistico come posto, però tutto sommato il cibo era buono. Inoltre devo dire che il personale e' stato davvero cortese e simpatico. Cosa davvero più che rara !!!! Premetto che nei ristoranti se non prenoti , anche se hanno il tavolo vuoto , non ti fanno sedere..provato sulla mia pelle!!! Loro sono stati gentili e disponibili!ma prenotate per tempo per qualsiasi ristorante.!

Even though I went at noon on a Friday, it was extremely full. Since I was alone, I had a bit of a problem with the location, but I was able to sit at a table close to the bar. I ordered Nuremberg sausages and they were good. Especially the mashed potatoes and cabbage underneath were great. The beer was a little expensive but delicious. A friend of mine highly recommended Baked chicken styrian style, I recommend you try it. Also, the place is too noisy.

Chunky Bavarian wannabe economy as a wonderful tourist trap!

Good food… very poor service. We waited a longer time for our food and when we asked the host if he could find out if it was on its way, he laughed in my face and replied “We have 300 people to serve, it will be here when it is ready!” Charming!

My German friend invite me to have dinner there. He made a reservation. Once I arrived, I told the front desk that I have a reservation, and showed him on my phone. He said ‘If you have a reservation, you need to tell me the name.’ I said it’s here, I pointed on my phone. He said ‘say it, I can’t see’. I tried to say my friend’s name, as I don’t speak German, he didn’t know who it was. He looked at my phone, then checked the name on his computer, and he took me to the table. Although the food is good and the waiter is okay. The first experience I had is way too bad. Please hire a staff with better eyesight. So just put a sign we don’t welcome tourist at the entrance.

WATCH WHEN PAYING! Deplorable service by the waiter. Acceptable food. Quite expensive dinner but when it came time to pay the waiter tried to charge us an extra tip because he felt like it. He wanted to charge us 10% more than the total bill he indicated. He told us that it is an obligatory double tax until the customers at the next table told the waiter that he couldn't do that. The waiter was very rude on his part in how he was talking to us. Deplorable service

Dinner all in all nice, except when we got to the final bill where they added the tip to the bill without even asking us, after we complained about it, they started to climb the mirrors. We are in Germany and the tip is not mandatory, I am the one who chooses whether to leave it and how much. Place of thieves, run away because you will find yourself with a €43 tip without even agreeing.

Unser beider Essen ging nicht durch die Hände eines gelernten Kochs oder das Handwerk wurde verweigert. Unsere rustikalen Speisen waren konfektioniert wie in einer muffigen Großkantine. Die Bratwürste überwürzt, der Schweinsbraten zäh und trocken. Dazu gab es für beide Gerichte die gleiche Instant-Soße. Wir kommen beide aus Bayern und ich habe in München studiert. Dort schmeckt es um Welten besser. Mit derartigen Gerichten ginge dieser Ableger der Augustiner-Brauerei in Bayern unter. Das lassen sich nur Touris und Berliner gefallen. Unverschämtheit! Wenigstens war es nicht überteuert. Im Übrigen sah ich deutlich an Nebentischen, dass die Haxen nicht gegrillt sondern frittiert, also extra fettig sind. Viele Gerichte im Gastraum waren nicht aufgegessen. Auch dass Hähnchen ist weit entfernt von der Wiesn-Qualität.

A restaurant of considerable size, where you can enjoy EXCELLENT dishes of German cuisine (mainly Bavarian), waitresses and waiters are dressed in typical clothes, so as to create a nice atmosphere, the prices are average and the portions very generous... I recommend drinking the house beer...

I have rarely eaten so badly. Then the waiter knocked over the beer glass (wet pants and shirt) - no one cared. Never again!
