Very good food and every plate looks beautifully decorated. The only thing that was annoying is the party boat that goes past every hour with people shouting, but the Au lac can't do anything about that.

After a lot of back and forth, I decided to give it a review. We went to this restaurant during the week with a slightly larger group (6 people). A really nice restaurant, great ambience, located right on the water, there are seats outside and inside. It's really stylish, elegantly decorated. However, we had a few points of criticism. When we visited, the restaurant had around 10 tables occupied, including our table, which isn't really a lot (even just outside). We often had to draw attention to ourselves because the drinks were empty. When the food was served, the waiter noticed that a dish had been forgotten from the table, which was served about 10 minutes later. Afterwards we wanted to taste dessert. In the case of hot love, the raspberry sauce was cold and the chocolate cake had no liquid core, unlike what was described on the menu. During our stay (after dinner) one person at the table felt unwell and went home shortly after dinner. Another person ordered the same dish, but unfortunately she didn't get it either; she reported stomach/intestinal problems. She then informed the restaurant about her health status and was told that this dish was very popular and that the goods were freshly purchased and prepared. Well wishes and an apology were sent to her.

We had requested a reservation by email for an evening with 27 people (we got married in a civil ceremony that day) and then had the OK a few days later with promise!!! receive. We were called 4 days before this appointment. The employee then informed us about the à la carte meal, to which we simply said that we only wanted something to drink and that only a few people would eat anything. She wanted to tell her boss about this, who then called us minutes later and told us that you couldn't just drink there because it was a restaurant and he then canceled our booking because he would then have income of 600.- Euros would be missing. He also added that he had turned us away on site despite having a reservation!!! The boss didn't apologize to us and accepted it succinctly. All we can say is: sad, sad... the customer is not king (we won't see us as customers there either!!!) It would have been important to ask in advance with such a large number of people :-(. Conclusion: not very competent!!! :-( . We then went to the Marine Stuben who gave us a warm welcome and service :-) :-) .

Upscale restaurant without being aloof. Located directly on the Lahn, this restaurant is a pearl. Since I was traveling by bike, I could only enjoy a Vitello Tonnato as a starter. but this is one of the best I've ever eaten. Finally, an excellent coup Danmark at its finest. I was served by extremely friendly and attentive people. It's a shame that I don't live near Giessen, Au Lac would be my regular restaurant.

The absolute top destination in Gießen for warm summer days, located directly on the Lahn, attentive service, ok cuisine, with still a bit of room for improvement. Pleasant place to meet for a group meal. Acceptable price-performance ratio. Constant quality. A location with unique selling points.

Very nice location on the Lahn, but the pasta was far from al dente and that is very sad for a restaurant that advertises its Mediterranean cuisine. The sauce was delicious and all other food was ok

The quality of the food stands out from many restaurants. There is also very good service. We have always sat on the wonderful terrace. Inside, the ambience seems a bit outdated. The restaurant is certainly not the cheapest, but a very good option if you want to eat well.

The food was good and tasty, but when my friend found a hair in her food and she didn't want to eat it anymore or wanted a new plate. We were just accused that the hair couldn't come out of the kitchen instead it was just put on a new plate and then we lost our appetite.

The following aspects are evaluated: - Price/performance ratio: Grade 2- - Taste: 2+ - Service: 2+ - Ambience: 2+ Positive: - Location is very nice - Food is served very nicely, looks good and tastes good too - Waiters are friendly & accommodating Negative: - Dessert "Dining Divers" is charged twice, making the dessert €20 instead of €10 as stated on the menu. In my opinion, this is unacceptable and the customer is being “ripped off”. Recommendation: - Please rewrite dessert as “Food Divers” so that there are no discussions. - Instead of dessert, various dishes (from 2 people) 10€... you should simply write down the total price 20€, as the 10€ is not correct. No other restaurant that offers meals for two people, regardless of whether it is a main course or a dessert, states the individual price per person. The total price of the entire dish is always there. This is called transparency. I'm a new customer and something like this annoys me because I ordered something for €10, not €20, which is why I unfortunately won't be coming back. A good restaurant right on the Lahn near the Gi ski and boat club. Very attractive, cozy interior and exterior furnishings. Price-performance and service top.

Horrible experiences at the wedding reception there. Rude, annoyed and the worst thing of all was that the buffet was dismantled after the meal and the leftovers were handed over directly to the operators' acquaintances and friends to eat and the guests received nothing more at a slightly later date. Simply scandalous...

The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the ambience was beautiful. Can't wait to go back!

The food (ribbon noodles with salmon and scampi in lobster sauce) and chocolate souffle were delicious, you can't say anything else. The salmon could have been juicier. But it was ok. There was also a large scampi on top of the pasta. You can't say anything about the price of 16.50 euros. The service is super nice and always right there. I had the impression that the plate and glass could have been cleaner. The glass had streaks on the edge and the plate had dried cracks on the edge. My husband's glass was broken at the bottom. The seat cushion had two very large stains of bird droppings on it. There was also a twig here and there on the table and some dirt from the tree (!?). The plant on the table had cobwebs on it and dried leaves. All things that can happen. It was more the sum of many details that bothered me in the end.

The food is way too expensive and so is the cheaply made house lemonade. And with schnitzel and fries there isn't even a side salad. The service is good and the ambience.

Nice atmosphere but nothing more! Overpriced, which in my opinion is not justified as the meat is of poor quality. Sorry, there has to be a lot more to come with the prices. Don't have to go there again.

A restaurant of "Sanji quality" 😁😂 How is it possible to be so fast? As soon as the food is ordered, it's already there. Beautifully prepared and super tasty. Well, it was very empty when we were there. Nonetheless. Everyone was very attentive, friendly and not overly friendly. Just nice. I really like the atmosphere, I felt like I was at home there. Also the espresso... Are there barista machines that are that fast? The espresso has to go into the cup first. 😂😄 I want to go there again!

Das einzig negative waren die Damen Toiletten die man erneuern müsste. Unser Platz war total zugig ich habe sehr gefroren egal ob am Fenster oder im Gang. Jedesmal wenn die Tür aufging kam eine eisige Kälte rein. Super liebes aufmerksames Personal. Die Preise sind schon heftig aber das Essen ist wirklich super gut.

Sehr schönes, gepflegtes und top modernes Ambiente, der Service sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Neben der Reichhaltigen Karte gibt es auch Saisonale / Spezialgerichte, präsentiert auf großen Tafeln. Die Portionen groß und schön angerichtet. Ich muss sagen in all den Jahren war das die wohl die geschmacklich Beste und angerichtete Octopus/Sepia Kreation, die ich je in Deutschland gegessen habe. Top!

Nach langer Pause waren wir in der letzten Woche mal wieder im "Au Lac". Tolle Plätze direkt an der Lahn, der Chef setzte uns um, von einem nicht so tollen Platz an einer Wand zu einem freien Tisch in Wassernähe - Toll, dass er so aufmerksam war. Die Bestellungen wurden zeitnah gebracht, der Service immer sehr höflich. Die Vorspeisenplatte für Zwei war der Hammer! Die Weine waren gut ausgesucht und schmackhaft, die grosse Überraschung aber die überaus gelungene Vorspeisenplatte. Das auf der Tageskarte ausgewählte Lammfilet kam mit frischen Champignons, anstatt der auf der Karte genannten Pfifferlinge. Dies war aber absolut in Ordnung, da der Geschmack sehr gut war, das Fleisch wie bestellt "englisch" kam, dazu auch die Menge grosszügig bemessen war. - - - Die zum Teil schwachen Rezensionen Anderer waren für uns nicht nachvollziehbar: Keine Cocktails? Natürlich gab es Hugo, Aperol, sogar Limoncello Spritz! Lange auf Getränke warten? Bei uns nicht: Der Chef war die ganze Zeit sehr dezent im Hintergrund und hat das Personal angeleitet, wo was zu tun ist - also sehr aufmerksam. . . . Alles in Allem also ein sehr erfreulicher, schöner Abend im "Au Lac". Weiter so....! - Nachtrag 09-2021: Nach mittlerweile über 20 Besuchen können wir unsere obige Aussage nochmals bestätigen: Alles sehr lecker, insbesondere die Antipasti Platte, immer eine sehr herzliche Atmosphäre, das "Au Lac" gehört zu unseren Giessen-Top-5, besonders schön am frühen Abend.

Wir haben unsere Hochzeit im Juli, mit circa 100 Personen, in diesem wundervollen Restaurant gefeiert und hätten uns nicht besser entscheiden können. Das Ambiente ist wunderschön und einzigartig und unsere Vorstellungen und Wünsche wurden nicht nur komplett erfüllt sondern sogar noch übertroffen. Herr Kaya und seine Mitarbeiter leisten eine unglaublich tolle Arbeit und sind sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und professionell. Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt und wir haben von unseren Gästen nur positives Feedback erhalten. Wir können jedem empfehlen dieses Restaurant zu besuchen oder diese Location für eine Hochzeit oder andere Feiern zu mieten. Wir möchten uns noch einmal herzlich für diesen wundervollen und gelungenen Tag/ Abend bei Ihnen bedanken.

Habe mir für einen zukünftigen Besuch mal die Lage, Speisekarte und das Restaurant angesehen. Einrichtung und Blick auf die Lahn sind vielversprechend. Wenn jetzt Essen und Service genau so gut sind, dann freue ich mich schon jetzt sehr auf unser gemütliches Abendessen in dieser Location. Ergänzung: 4Tage später Warenwirtschaft nun hier auch zu dritt Essen. Und es war super, Service schnell und freundlich, das Essen sehr lecker und auch preislich in Ordnung.

Kompliment, das Restaurant ist versteckt, aber sehr schön. Mediterrane Küche, lecker und gut. Liegt direkt an der Lahn mit Außenterrasse. Kann ich empfehlen.

Wir waren jetzt das 2. mal hier mittags während einer Kajaktour. Die Drinks und das Essen sind wirklich sehr gut! Kann es nur empfehlen hier halt zu machen und sich direkt an der Lahn die gut gehen zu lassen. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Wir waren jetzt mehrere Male am Wochenende, meist Sonntags Abends, dort. Die Location und das Essen sind super, der Service ist ebenfalls sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend !

Schön gelegen-direkt an der Lahn mit eigenem Bootssteg und großem überdachtem Biergarten. Innenräume ansprechend gestaltet, Tische eingedeckt. Das Servicepersonal freundlich und zuvorkommend. Trotzdem es für einem Mittwochmittag gut besucht war, kamen die Gerichte recht zügig. Das Essen war sehr lecker und geschmackvoll angerichtet. Einen Punkt Abzug geben wir für die unterschiedlichen Portionsgrößen. Die Tortellonieportion war dann doch eher ne Vorspeise im Vergleich zu Fettucine Salmone oder auch zum Schnitzel. Zum Ambiente gehören auch die Wasch und Toilettenräume, daher nur4 Punkte. Sie waren sauber, aber die Wasserspülung lief sehr lange nach, die WC Brillen müssten richtig befestigt werden.

Ein erstklassiges Restaurant mit außergewöhnlichem Service. Das Essen ist 1A und nicht nur schön anzusehen, such geschmacklich eine 10 von 10. Es ist dort wunderschön im Freien zu sitzen. Das Essen ist toll ; gehobene Preise, aber lecker. Mittags findet man auch ohne Reservierung einen Tisch.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich hat auch ein schönes Ambiente zwei von 4 Bestellungen waren auch gut. Aber ein Essen davon war nicht mal für ein Kind ausreichend und total ölig, fast ungenießbar.

Wie kommen gerne hier her. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön und man ist direkt an der Lahn. Essen hat uns bisher immer geschmeckt und der Service ist super und nicht zu aufdringlich.

Eine wunderbare Location direkt an der Lahn. Das Essen ist von sehr guter Qualität und vorzüglich gekocht. Das Servicepersonal ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wer Geschmack Qualität und Ambiente zu schätzen weiß ist hier bestens aufgehoben.
