Athos Der Grieche in Erfurt

Food was very tasty, but the service was a bit bottomless. Somehow the staff put me in a really bad mood and I couldn't really enjoy the food as I should. First and last time.

The food was ok, but overall I can't recommend Athos. The staff is inattentive and the drinks had to be requested every time. We waited a very long time for the food. The starter was bean soup, which was disappointing. I would like to mention that the bread was fresh. The calamari was really good, the side dishes were pretty bad. The second dish (gyros, lamb, pork) was also not convincing, it lacked seasoning, it was carelessly prepared and tzatziki was only available if it was ordered with it. The ouzo, which is otherwise obligatory for Greeks, also had to be ordered separately. Hence, my first and last visit.

Well, I'm torn about this review. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Ordering was done quickly. Now for the small buts: Garlic bread, okay, it should taste like garlic, but not like you're biting into a clove; less is more. The gyro, tasty in itself, but could have been a bit crispier and warmer, just like the fries. And to finish off, an ouzo, which should also be included.

Today we were in "Athos" for the first time, I have to say, I've rarely eaten so well. Very friendly staff, we will definitely come back. Unfortunately I have to correct my review from 3 years ago. we definitely won't be coming back. We are only in Erfurt sporadically and always ate at the “Athos the Greek” restaurant, it got worse and worse and is unfortunately only below average. I hope the team can turn the corner and get back to that Restaurant becomes what it once was.

The service was friendly. What is absolutely not possible is that you are asked to leave after 1.5 hours because the table is reserved for the next guests.

This place is phenomenal. The dishes were delicious and the staff was super accommodating. We arrived with 10 people about 30 minutes before closing time. The staff made it happen and extended their hours that day. Easy to get to by tram (Strassenbahn). I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

For me it was the first and last time. Food tasted ok, sparse portions, carelessly prepared. A dollop of tzatziki on the plate costs little but would have improved the meal. Zatziki was ordered as a starter (yum) but was only brought to me for the main course. There was no bread with the zatziki either. The staff didn't make an effort and we felt rather unwanted. And what we have never experienced before is that the Greeks didn't even offer an ouzo on the house.

I contacted 'Arthos' by phone on Saturday 11/9/24 and ordered seats for Tuesday 11/12/24 at 11:30 a.m. The order has been taken and confirmed. When we arrived at the restaurant today, we found the door closed. No information on the door and according to the internet it should also be open. When we asked in the neighboring restaurant, we were told that the 'Arthos' only opens at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays. We were very disappointed and upset. If the employees don't know their opening times, then it would make sense to at least update the website. Therefore only 1 star, if at all for the service. Luckily, there are many other options to eat well in Erfurt, which we took advantage of.

I've often had Greek food in different cities but I've never experienced a Greek where you don't get any ouzo at all, let alone a salad, the food was like that, so I see no reason to visit this restaurant again when I'm in Erfurt

That was just great, all around a great evening, food fresh and delicious. The meat was juicy, the salad was fresh and crunchy, and the tzatziki was one of the best I've ever eaten. We'll be back.

A nice, cozy atmosphere in the restaurant. The service was attentive and noticed and corrected a mistake in the kitchen itself. The food was tasty, but not a big taste explosion, rather average. Unfortunately the beer we ordered (from the bottle) was warm, which was confirmed the second time. The “usual” Greek ouzo was not served before or after the meal, but every “jeck” is different. All in all, a satisfactory visit, but not a must for a second time.

The Greek classics in perfect quality, not dripping in fat, potatoes crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, calamari buttery tender, scampi large and juicy grilled in the shell, fresh mushrooms with the vegetables... that's so Ouzo here 👍😎

Service was friendly in conversation but rather lackluster. We ordered the Olympo plate and the Byfteki. No salad, tzatziki and the usual amenities of a Greek restaurant. Since we are from North Rhine-Westphalia, it may be that we are a bit spoiled, but gastronomy can be done differently and much better, that would be standard for us in a so-called chip ranch. Conclusion: very good service & excellent food We had reserved in advance and there were five of us. The waitress immediately came to us and took us to the table. First of all I would like to explain my two stars for the food. The dishes were very tasty, but very small for a Greek. There was no salad. Not before eating, not with eating. The main course was fries and meat. And there were a lot of fries. I know tzatziki with yogurt and cucumber - here it was a dill dip. Our starter was really great - grilled pepperoni. Great with garlic. But here too, too little. Overall I was disappointed. Overall it was too expensive, even if it was tasty. There was no ouzo, as we know it from the Greeks. I ordered salmon and had a salad. She ate half the salad and then discovered a large black hair, called the waitress, she said it wasn’t her hair, didn’t apologize, took the salad, didn’t bring a new salad in return, and didn’t reduce the bill. Bei schönem Wetter auf der Terrasse einen Tisch gefunden. Bedienung war schnell zur Stelle und nahm die Bestellung auf. Getränke kamen im akzeptablen Zeitraum. Das Essen kam in Etappen und der zusätzliche Salat ganz zum Schluss, da war das Gyros schon fast kalt. Die Mesesplatte beinhaltete u.a. eine Miniportion Tsaziki, der leider sehr geschmacksneutral daherkam und von Zucchinis, ebenfalls geschmacksarm , dominiert wurde, Die Grillgerichte waren okay aber nicht mehr. Ein Ouzo zum Abschluss wäre schon nett gewesen, so kennen wir es, aber wir konnten auch ohne leben…….

Juni 2024 abends Das Restaurant "Athos der Grieche" in Erfurt, in idealer Domlage, ist ein griechisch-internationales Restaurant im alten Fachwerkhaus mit Stuckdecke, Gewölbekeller und Terrasse. Vor 10 Jahren 2014 waren wir bereits das erste Mal in Erfurt zu Gast und haben damals ebenso dieses Restaurant aufgesucht - damals war es noch ohne Bewertung meinerseits, heute schon. :-) Aufgrund eines Wetterumschwunges, sind wir zum Essen nicht auf der Terrasse gesessen, sondern haben uns im Innern einen Platz gesichert. Es war um diese Zeit noch relativ ruhig, obwohl es bereits 17 Uhr war. Wir wurden begrüßt und ein Tisch uns zugewiesen (Tisch 09/01). An der dortigen Wand haben wir gesehen, dass diese total fleckig war - sieht für den Gast nicht so toll aus, in dem restlichen schönen Gastraum, daher hier Punktabzug. It was still relatively quiet at this time, even though it was already 5 p.m. We were greeted and assigned a table (table 09/01). We saw on the wall there that it was totally stained - it doesn't look so great for the guest in the rest of the beautiful guest room, so points are deducted here. An order: > grilled pepperoni for €5.90 > Garlic bread for €4.50 > Coleslaw for €5.00 > Suvlaki for €17.50 > Pork fillet for €19.50 > Mineral water 0.7l for €6.50 > Mavrodaphne 0.2l for €6.00 > Samos 0.2l for €6.00 The service and the food along with the price-performance ratio are acceptable for today's times and we would recommend the Athos der Greek restaurant.

Wir wollten gern mal zu dem griechischen Restaurant ATHOS. Im Restaurant fanden wir auch sofort einen Tisch. Die Bedienung ließ nicht lange auf sich warten. Eigentlich gehört doch zum griechischen Essen immer Tzaziki, in unserem Fall machte uns die Kellnerin darauf aufmerksam, dass kein Tzaziki dabei ist, falls wir das möchten, müssen wir dies extra bestellen 🤨 Gesagt - getan ...Wir bestellten EXTRA. Dann kamen die Suflakis. "Das Auge isst doch eigentlich immer mit" , die 2 Spieße mit ein paar großen Zwiebelringen, die Pommes und ein Dip lagen sehr lieblos auf dem Teller. Keine Gemüsedeko...😒 Nachdem wir bezahlt haben, fragten wir noch, ob es kein Ouzo danach gibt??? Den gibt es nicht, wir können gern einen bestellen, den wir dann bezahlen müssen. Wo sind wir denn hier hingeraten? Lieblos garnierte Teller und kein Ouzo danach... Es gibt griechische Restaurants, wo es vorher und danach anstandslos einen Ouzo gibt und extra Gemüseteller, die selbstverständlich zum Gericht gehören. Da geht man auch gern wieder hin. Dafür bezahlt man mit einem kleinen Radler 21,30 Euro. Unser FAZIT war: Einmal ATHOS und nie wieder

Das Restaurant liegt am Domplatz. Es hat viele Tische im Freien. Grosse Auswahl an Gerichten. Gute Qualität, Personal freundlich und aufmerksam. Weinauswahl ist auch in Ordnung. Preis/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt.

There's no ouzo here... neither before the meal nor after... my grilled plate was ok except that there was no "sauce" with the dry meat... oh yeah, children aren't really taken into account either, if a small child approaches me as a plate pusher then they should I at least have the decency to react or answer. A visit to Athos, the Greek at the cathedral square in Erfurt is worthwhile, especially for two groups. For friends of Greek cuisine and for friends of architecture. Went to Erfurt for a quick visit and wanted to quickly grab something to eat. The lunchtime traffic had probably just ended, or at least that was the impression the waiter gave. We enjoyed the food, even if my wife missed the tzatziki with the bifteki or I simply missed the classic plate that every Greek has, souvláki and gyros. So I had to choose one and took the souvláki. The appetizer of grilled pepperoni and garlic bread was very good. Garlic bread really deserves the name. The Bifteki was rather firm to the bite, but that wasn't a bad thing. The souvláki were relatively large, thick pieces, which is at least the other way I know it, but it was very juicy and tasty. The homemade dip was also very tasty. The portion size was absolutely sufficient. Absolutely ok in terms of price. For two people, each a starter, a main course and a drink less than €55. We would come again if we are in the area again.
