Today was our second time at Athos... we were disappointed. The starter was great, but the gyro was partly blackened and partly very wobbly! It was very warm and all the windows were open, so there were a lot of flies at our table, which was disgusting! Not houseflies, but the glittering buzzers were disgusting! We told the waiter, but he didn't react, impossible!

We went to Athos with a large group for dinner on Friday. It was very full. We are very satisfied and happy. All the staff are friendly and hard-working. There is a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and we found a real Greek restaurant. I recommend it to everyone. We visit Freyburg. Everyone can eat at Athos and enjoy their time. Thank you very much, Athos team. Keep up the good work. We would love to come back.

We were there for the first time today. The food was very good and plentiful, the staff were very friendly and we will definitely be back.

We just wanted to have a glass of wine at Athos. It was a Thursday, 5 p.m., and no one was in the restaurant. The outdoor area was completely filthy. The tables were dirty with leftover food and full ashtrays. There were no other guests there, so it wasn't very inviting. Plenty of time to clean up. Luckily, we found a place in Freyburg where you can enjoy a glass of wine in style and everything is clean.

So glad I chose this place! I fell in love with it from the first bite. Jam! ❤️❤️❤️

We couldn't find anything else in Naumburg around 9 p.m., but this place was recommended. We were the only customers, and the service and food were excellent. Even though we finished eating just before closing time, we weren't rushed. I felt like we could have sat there for another half hour. Everything was great, thank you very much!

A truly lovely restaurant. The location is truly fantastic, right on the river and at the foot of the old town. The staff is extremely friendly and they remember you even when you return. Polite and friendly, with very good service. The food is also very tasty and the portions are generous, making it almost impossible to finish with an additional starter. I'd love to come back!!!

Greek hospitality in Freyburg at its best. After a prior phone inquiry, it was revealed that the restaurant is now open Monday evenings. I stopped by on Sunday and reserved and got a table for the following day. Large sliding windows allow for excellent ventilation in the heat. The view of the Unstrut River from the back room is fantastic. The warm welcome was enhanced with Greek vitamins – ouzo. The Paulaner beer was well chilled and very drinkable. The friendly Greek waitress provided several vitamin refills (hospitality at its best). The reporter's companion opted for a mixed plate with potato gratin. The reporter chose gyros with tzatziki, calamari, shrimp, and Greek rice. Both dishes were a visual and culinary delight. One of the best gyros the reporter has ever eaten. Greek Kitchen in Freyburg is 100% recommended and has a 100% recommendation.

Food: 2 types of meat, tzatziki, special potatoes with garlic cream, salad, all very tasty and hard to finish, Greek style.

Four of us were here on a Friday, and it was busy. Unfortunately, the staff were a bit overwhelmed; there weren't enough wait staff. The service was friendly, but the wait times were long, and we had four different servers during that time. The food was good, except for the side salads (boring and watery). The appetizer platter was very good. I still recommend Athos 👍🏻

A real ray of hope – warmth and quality in the Athos Palace After we, as a family with two children, unfortunately had to have a very unfriendly experience in another nearby restaurant (Zum Fäßchen), chance led us to Athos Palace - and what luck that was! Even though it was already a quarter past eight, we were welcomed here with genuine warmth. No hesitation, no annoyed look - instead a friendly smile and immediately a lovingly set table for the four of us. As soon as you arrived you felt that guests are really welcome here. The service was attentive, friendly and extremely child-friendly. Questions were answered in a friendly manner and recommendations were given honestly. The drinks came quickly, the food followed shortly afterwards - fresh, hot and incredibly tasty! Everything we ordered was tasty and very lovingly prepared. What particularly impressed us: Despite the late hour, the entire team treated us with genuine friendliness - a rarity, as we had discovered shortly before. Conclusion: The Athos Palace saved our evening - with real hospitality, great food and a feeling of welcome that you as a guest could only wish for. If you want to eat well and feel good, this is the right place for you. We'll definitely be back!

Came here on the recommendation of a comrade. It tastes really great! The service was great and the only negative comments I can make are the music and the smell in the men's toilets. Otherwise everything was really great!

Restaurant visit from July 31, 2022 (Review is now public again) “Our secret(s) - Our quality” is how guests of the “Athos” in Freyburg are greeted above the entrance. Put another way, they would be better prepared for what awaits them because: the many qualities that this restaurant may have are largely kept secret from the customers. Unfortunately, the vegetarian moussaka we ordered was no longer available, but that may happen. As an alternative, a starter plate is recommended, although it is not vegetarian at all, as is evident when served: meatballs and fish cream cheerfully decorate the plate. The communication between the operating staff and the kitchen appears to lack quality. The starter salad for the other main course is brought twice, so the coordination between them also has certain quality deficiencies. The biggest problem of this place, however: the boss. - He's constantly running around the guests, making a loud noise, pulling weeds out of plant pots here and there or collecting cutlery that one of his employees had previously distributed on the tables. Of course he is also there to collect... - When he has nothing to do, he enjoys whistling and hollering over the heads of his guests when he recognizes a familiar face on the street. Since it seems to be the busiest and noisiest street in Freyburg, this happens quite often. - A couple of guests are sent outside from the interior or the existing winter garden; after all, in summer you shouldn't sit in the winter garden (author's note: wasps are of course not an argument for indoor dining...). The guest's remark that she would now like to leave is met with a laugh. A few minutes later, the boss begins to warn other arriving guests that it would soon rain and that he would then retract the awning covering the terrace, to the delight of all the guests eating or waiting, including of course the couple who had just been driven outside. - When asked about the unfortunate outcome of the vegetarian order when paying, he unleashes a cascade of explanations and justifications, which include: 1. Many dishes are no longer available on Sundays (Author's tip: If it is not possible to plan for a holiday weekend, perhaps you should not open continuously on the weekend...) 2. Fish is vegetarian 3. The serving staff has no authority to suggest alternative dishes because: "They don't know what's on the plate." 4. Variations on or information about dishes cannot be taken into account in the kitchen, as only the numbers on the menu are used there. To be on the safe side, I would like to emphasize at this point that I have described a stay of around 1 1/2 hours up to this point... It turns out that good food - and it's really good there in itself - can't be edible if there's so much wrong with it... ...especially if the fish stinks from the head. I can't understand the good reviews, maybe apart from the food. Clear non-recommendation.

Phew... I don't even know where to start. We ate here in a larger group and what can I say: it was a complete disaster. For a long time there was neither ouzo nor anything normal to drink for the descendants. One had to hope that a waiter would come to our corner to order. After repeated inquiries about the ouzo, they said there were no more glasses. (?!) But then they were so friendly and put a half-open bottle of ouzo on the table. When the food was brought, the scampies were forgotten in one meal (despite the fact that this dish was ordered 3 times (!)) and another was simply completely forgotten. When this was brought in, the food wasn't quite cooked yet, so it had to be taken back to the kitchen. When the dessert was brought, one was forgotten again and after repeated inquiries they suddenly said there were no more plates. (?!) It was then served on another plate. To say something positive: The food itself was very tasty and the portions were completely sufficient. The atmosphere is very cozy and invites you to feel good. All in all, this was my first and last visit.

Today we ate at Athos Palace for the first time since the change of ownership and we were thrilled. The service is friendly, considerate and accommodating. The food was warm and on point. The price is almost too cheap compared to the excellent service and quality of the food. We would like to thank you very much for the evening, especially Taransit Singh, and look forward to the next time. Great recommendation!

Friendly welcome, Ouzo as a greeting, prompt service, great ambience (live music!), Ouzo as a farewell, well and the most important thing: mega delicious food!!! Hello girls, I think it's beautiful here. Eating is like being taken from the Mediterranean. Pure Greece! Service first cream👍🏻 I know where the wine warehouse is 😁 If you finally want a good meal, come here!

We were here today for the first time since the reopening, due to the good reviews and a recommendation. Unfortunately, we really can't make any recommendations here. The cards handed out are dirty and seemingly ancient, dishes with chipped corners, tables wobbling, different music is played in the front part of the restaurant than in the back, which is extremely annoying after 5 minutes. Unfortunately the food was a disaster, pork fillet, fish, gyros, calamari were all fried so dead that the sole of a shoe would have been easier to eat. Spices have not seen meat or fish. The branding on meat and fish tasted bitter, indicating an unclean grill/grate. The salad tasted like the container in which it was stored, and there was only a mini dollop of dressing. We will therefore not be coming back

Today we were six adults and a small child and were very enthusiastic: delicious and very plentiful food, freshly prepared and very tasty. Service was super friendly, very attentive and accommodating. Now this restaurant is worth visiting again, the change of operator was definitely worth it. We'd love to come back.

Yesterday we were in the restaurant with 9 people, we were divided into 2 tables even though we were a group and had made a reservation. Regarding the service, yes it was ok with small weaknesses. The food actually tasted good but unfortunately all of the food was cold when it was served. Really a shame! Regarding the ambience, the interiors turned out great. There's a lot of rubbish outside, mainly in the car park - you could cover it up with privacy screens and put away the old kitchen appliances that are there next to the rubbish.

Unfortunately my food wasn't that tasty. Personally, my Suflaki skewer was too well cooked and therefore very dry. I don't even know the Suflaki skewer. Otherwise the service was good.

We sat very nicely, with a view of the Unstrut. The staff is super friendly and we were immediately greeted with an Uso. The food- bifteki, gyros with metaxa, Athos potatoes and rollo as a starter. Everything is super delicious 😋. Big praise to the kitchen team! If we go back to Freyburg, we will definitely come back to Athos. Thanks to the team for the lovely evening.

We used to eat there with the club, the team and the board. With a few exceptions, we were always satisfied. On September 21st We went to dinner again with 7 people. We booked a table for 6:30 p.m. The first round of drinks came pretty quickly. A little later we were complete and the orders were taken. - Starters and main courses. An hour later... some of us went out for a smoke, 2 waiters walked past and it looked like our starters, they went to the wrong tables, luckily no one there had ordered anything like that, we pointed out to them that the dishes were ours Heard the table...the tzatziki was great. Luckily the main course didn't take long to arrive because we were hungry. The pork fillet I had was dry, unseasoned, the herb butter was tasteless, Athos potatoes used to be better too... well seasoned but very soft and mushy. There was a lot of ouzo, but that didn't make the whole experience any better. The whole team is completely restructured and disorganized, but always friendly. However, as a trained man in this industry, it hurts my heart to see something like this. 4 different waiters taking orders at one table is too much...

Excellent service, excellent food and structurally (from the ceiling height and the overall ambience) a palace. After being assigned our seats, we were immediately greeted with an ouzo for our good friends. The drinks were generous throughout the evening. I had the Poseidon plate. Everything was cooked perfectly, the tzatziki was great and the garlic potatoes are recommended to anyone who praises garlic.

Last night we had dinner at the Athos Palace at the end of our annual visit to Freyburg. However, I have to say that we were torn about whether we should really eat there. Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience there last year, but that was still the old owner. That's why we thought we'd give the new owner and the restaurant a chance and it was the best thing we could do. When we got there, a small live band outside started entertaining the guests. The boss greeted us very friendly and we felt very welcome. The food came at very pleasant intervals so that you could eat your starter or salad in peace. The main courses were simply great and the meat was really on point. There was always ouzo in between and the waiters were in the mood for jokes. We can only recommend everyone to stop by there and see for yourself. We would be happy to visit this restaurant again

This is not a restaurant, it's a complete disgrace! We had reserved as a group of 15 people. And despite repeated requests that the two of them had to leave at a certain time, they actually got the food almost last and then of course left without eating! We also had to wait forever for the food. When the food came for us, some of it was almost cold, a lot of it was completely wrong and two of the meals were completely forgotten! We then found out during the meal that some of the food was spread out on other plates?! We also had to wait a long time for subsequent drinks and had to remind us several times. The waiters conveyed a complete chaos, hectic pace and pure stress! Everything is totally chaotic and nobody knows what they are actually doing. They don't listen to you! Now it's definitely enough and we'll never go here again!!

Yesterday we had family dinner with you and were again given a very friendly welcome, thank you... After an ouzo, our drinks arrived quickly, the food was freshly prepared so we were happy to wait 20 minutes. In the meantime, the nice waiter kept checking and asking about our well-being. My in-laws, who were in Athos for the first time, were very impressed by the friendliness, the great view of Unstrut and the wonderful sunset. When we are in Freyburg we are also in Athos. This is not a restaurant, it's an imposition! We had reserved as a group of 12 people. Had to wait forever for the food. When it finally came, one part was cold, another part was burnt and the fillet was so fried that you could no longer chew or cut it. The ambience was characterized by dead flower pots and plenty of cobwebs including builders in the windows. Never again!!
