Very nice excursion restaurant, unfortunately the price-performance ratio doesn't match. Portions very clearly and carelessly prepared. But the food still tasted very good. The staff was absolutely overwhelmed, I can't even say whether they were friendly or unfriendly or just walked back and forth without emotion.

Very courteous service and delicious food. If we're ever in the area again, we'd love to come back! Thank you for 2 very nice evenings!

Matjes Housewives Art The food was well prepared, but unfortunately the taste was a flat 0. The potatoes neither scored points in terms of taste nor were they cooked. There was neither oil nor onion to be found on the matjes and the grilled vegetables didn't go well with it, let alone the homemade sauce that tasted like extended yogurt tasted good.

Was eating spareribs on Saturday October 4th, 2024. Terrible ! Cooked ribs with a ready-made barbecue sauce, the fries are also better available at any snack bar. All this for 22.90🙈 what a shame! This is how you scare away your guests. In addition, I asked for a seat reservation. I was answered: no space left, only in the winter garden. I got a seat in the restaurant and noticed that many seats were still free without a reservation sign…. Keep it up🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Had a schnitzel with fries. Standard food. Schnitzel very dry and therefore tough. Fries apparently counted out. But 2 slices of fried carrot. Great for €26.50. My companion's salad was okay. Not more. Coffee and milk are only available after asking three times. It's actually standard. Not recommended. I'm not really a complainer, but it's a waste of money

I ordered vegetables with curry cream sauce and potatoes (not from the menu, but from a separate notice) for €16.50. Unfortunately, what happened was a catastrophe. Thick curry cream mush in which you had to look for the vegetables. The potatoes were not included as a side dish, which I expected given the name of the dish and the price. The potatoes were hidden in the form of three small pieces in the curry cream mush. Important: If you are dissatisfied with the food here, you should complain immediately. Later complaints will not be accepted and the full price will be charged, in cash of course, as card payment is not possible. Goodwill is not known in this restaurant.

Food and service were very good

Reserved a table for 15 people 2 months ago. There was no table reserved for us today. Luckily it was empty so we got a table. Room in the back. Room was a bit foggy as if the vent from the kitchen ended there. Place the order - everything came quite quickly, we only got the wine spritzer ourselves after 15 minutes. Starter came - was okay. Not everyone was finished yet when the main course arrived. There was no response to our request to wait. The actual schnitzel with cream mushrooms was ordered with cream sauce and the vegetables without mushrooms - food came with mushroom sauce and mushrooms. Food was returned - food came with cream sauce and mushrooms again. Okay, we made the mushrooms ourselves. Schnitzel came with more marinade around it than there was any meat in it. During the second trimming, I discovered a long hair - so I went back. On another plate, a hair between the side salad. As if that wasn't bad enough, tables and chairs were now being pushed around. When asked whether it was tasty, we of course answered honestly - everything was very matter-of-fact. The waitress's reactions - eyes blurred and "I can't help it." This restaurant was highly recommended to us, but it was the biggest letdown of the day - a shame

Service could be improved, the wine for €33 was served without wine cooling. After asking twice, the wine cooler was available. The entire dining room was covered in fog (probably came from the kitchen). The price-performance ratio simply doesn't fit (e.g. frozen croquettes). The location has much more potential.

Found it a bit strange. You take your time with the service. Sometimes it takes forever and people leave because of it.

Wow! Discovered by chance and enjoyed! Terrace by the water with a view of the vineyards. It couldn't be better! Plus the great food, with a matching wine. Plus a friendly and attentive service team. This makes the wonderful short holiday in the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region perfect!

We wanted to have lunch at the Burgmühle today, but unfortunately it didn't happen. After waiting half an hour we left again. The young waiter brought us the menus but then he lost interest in us. It's a shame, but we still had a wonderful meal in Freyburg. The star is available free of charge for half an hour while sitting in the beautiful ambience on the Unstrut.

One of the few restaurants and Freyburg that is always open and offers a view of the Unstrut. The food is more Italian, averagely good. Very courteous service.

Guys, if I'm greeted at the entrance with rules of conduct... I think that's excessive. The food was good, the service was cold. The wine was too warm, but the price was too high. 7.90 euros for 0.2 liters, poured sparingly, you won't stick with it any longer. The view from the terrace is very nice. All in all we were disappointed!

You cannot pay by card at the Burgmühle. So take enough cash with you.

The atmosphere in this excursion restaurant, located directly on the Unstrut, with a beautiful terrace and a wonderful shady vine arbor is hard to beat. For that reason alone it is worth stopping by. The touring kayakers paddle past the small river, a few meters directly below the terrace, and now and then a rubber dinghy full of rafters paddles past. So something is required. It's really worth reading the website about the use of hydropower through your own power plant and the necessary fish ecological measures. The commitment of the operators is admirable. You can also enjoy the extensive range of wine from the region. As for the food, I can say that it was tasty. Since we were here in a large group and we had to choose the dishes when planning, we cannot give a detailed verdict here. The service was a bit sparse, but serving around 50 people from a group at the same time is not easy either.

No card payment = tax fraud You shouldn't support it

The location of the restaurant by the river is very nice, wonderful outdoor seating. We only had drinks and ice cream, as well as a children's meal (french fries with fish fingers). That was all fine. Unfortunately there was no more cake (at coffee time! on the weekend). It also seemed as if there weren't enough service staff, which was a shame. Everything takes a little longer. The bill could only be paid in cash. I thought it was no longer up to date.

We were in this restaurant 8 years ago and were very satisfied. For this reason we visited it again today and were quite disappointed. At the entrance you were told that no card payment was possible. The service was nice, but the waiting times were too long. There were neither beer mats nor table decorations. The food tasted good, although the composition wasn't quite right, croquettes with chicken with tomato sauce. When a gentleman who looked like the caretaker asked how the food tasted and we expressed our opinion, we were told, “You ordered it that way!” Are you just asking out of decency? There was no light in the toilet, the hand dryer was broken, but paper towels were available, Just a shame. We were disappointed.

Even one star is still too many! Service so overwhelmed and weak! Never again

We were invited for dinner today. We ate very well. I had a tuna salad. I really enjoyed it. The location is very good right on the Unstrut. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We can recommend the restaurant, you can have a nice time here.

The service was nice and quick. Unfortunately, the prices for the food are not exactly justified. Unfortunately, the hoped-for taste explosion did not materialize. Still okay.

Price / performance is not right here, schnitzel with ragout fin gratinated - it was an industrial schnitzel with a teaspoon-sized amount of ragout fin gratinated, three half potatoes and very few grilled vegetables, all for 19.90 €, Better not!! Service also needs improvement, everything took a while, despite few guests..., never ever...!!!

The ambience is really nice. Otherwise... Well the service was so-so. The problem is really the food, you can expect more for the prices. The homemade herring sauce is sour cream and that's it. There were maybe three crumbs of pickles in there too. Just sad. The rest of the group didn't have anything particularly good either. Only the trout was recommended. It's to be expected that there isn't a large vegan selection in a restaurant like this in the country, but that they can't even do a vegan salad dressing... Wow

Sit by the weir and enjoy the peace and quiet. Some shaded areas. Makes a small impression, but is very comfortable. Lots of space.

Coffee and cake as well as the salad with chicken breast were very tasty. It was very cozy and relaxed with wonderful views of the vineyards and relaxing music.

Wonderful beer garden & great terrace that invite you to linger, the view is beautiful and the food is unique and tastes excellent! The chef knows his craft perfectly! Knowledgeable, friendly staff, there is nothing to complain about!!! Always a pleasure to be a guest here!

I don't want to say anything worse than it actually is...or was, but what we were served on the plate yesterday was one of the most primitive things you can do to a guest. What's the use of the waiters being nice? What good is a great view of a water landscape, when the meal for a whopping 15 euros is nothing more than raw salad carelessly spread out on the plate, with a few strips of turkey breast on it (a maximum of 2 euros in material usage). The highlight: 2 slices of white bread that made you fear for your teeth. Simply primitive, tasteless and... an insolence beyond compare. Why is anyone who thinks they can prepare food... allowed to do so without training (certainly). And if someone did that after learning it through training... then that person has definitely "bought" the qualification or forgotten everything. You prepare a sandwich or cheese sandwich at home, pack it into your hiking backpack along with an apple and a bottle of water... and then you look for a bench in nature where you can sit down with what you've brought with you while listening to the birds chirping and fresh air can enjoy peace and quiet. Like in old times! Although... even back in the GDR era, it tasted better in the restaurants. And that at prices between 2.50 and 4.90 marks and a beer for 0.40 Pf. We didn't earn much back then, but there was more honesty and less cheap show.

We were here on vacation and we really liked it, the food was very good and the service was super nice

The six of us had a pleasant meal. I had tagliatelle in lobster cream sauce and salmon. Two leaves of lettuce and two slices of baguette from the day before were served with it. The taste was good but not more than that. A touch too much cream for me, which masked the rest of the taste. The prices for the food are justified for fresh cuisine. A glass of wine from the region for just under €8 - is that necessary? Card payment is a must-have, which is a shame. The service was nice, reliable and quick. The view is enchanting. Inside it also looks very inviting.

That was nothing at all, I was expecting at least a good schnitzel with fried potatoes, not possible, schnitzel fried, ala holandaise, well for €20 too much, cheese platter came even though I wanted to know which one was on it first. Nothing, there is much, much better in Freyburg 😗

We passed by by chance. We found it very idyllic and were able to have lunch here with a view of the Unstrut. It was good and plentiful. Water was also ready for our dog.

On May 6, 2023, we experienced an unpleasant situation in the Burgmühle restaurant in Freyburg an der Saale when a waitress accidentally poured wine into a guest's meal and then didn't take any further care of it. The supervisor also did not respond appropriately to the incident. Despite our good mood, this was an example of poor service. In Freyburg most restaurants are closed between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., so we recommend taking a snack with you and waiting until another restaurant opens.

Reserved for 12 people, the service was very nice and since more people were invited, they immediately enlarged the table and you immediately felt welcome. The drinks were served quickly and were all tasty. The main courses were served without large gaps so that everyone could eat together. Everything tasted excellent, whether it was fish, grilled platters or schnitzel... big compliments to the kitchen. We would love to come back.

And no card payment is the last thing!

The food was great... the only thing you have to complain about is that things are advertised and when you want to order them they aren't there... just wipe it off the board and then there is the 5 star...

Prices for food are ok, even if you don't get anything outstanding. What's wrong here are the wine prices. Too sporty calculations to boost wine sales. Get ideas in the Mediterranean region. Then you drink 3 glasses instead of just 1 for 8 or 10 €.

The only nice thing is that it is on the water and you have a beautiful view. 1x schnitzel, mushrooms and the sauce were unfortunately otherwise quite tasty from a can. 2x grill plate, meat was fried to death. 1x pork medallions (canned mushrooms again) didn't look good in terms of quality and not to mention the sour smell. When the waitress asked if everything was OK as she cleared the table, we asked her about the meat. Then they just said...that can't be right, it's all fresh... When we asked us to pay, the waitress left us sitting and didn't come back (even though she was the only person who served us all evening). She then sent a colleague and had her make the payments. It's a shame that you're asked if everything was OK and then, if you're honest, you're just left alone. However, I have read through a few other reviews here... This restaurant apparently cannot handle criticism. Instead of changing something, they become unfriendly towards the guest and look for excuses. Sad…

Went by canoe and took a break there. The view is very beautiful.

We were there today to eat ice cream... 3 scoops with cream €6.50 ok in itself, but not for the cheapest Aldi or Lidl ice cream, even the cream was the cheapest cream dispenser. For 2 ice cream sundaes and 1 children's cup €18.50 that's bordering on a rip-off , won't go there anymore

Inn located in a beautiful location, whose service, food and boss unfortunately do not live up to the desired standards (“experience gastronomy” oTon). Too few staff in the service: after 20 minutes we were able to order the first drink, which then came 30 minutes later. Luckily the food was ordered right away: it took 2 hours. Price/performance: upper average/lower average. A meal was delivered incorrectly. Unfortunately, the boss was resistant to any criticism and reacted angrily and escalatingly. Not so soon again.

There were eleven of us as a sports group. You could only enjoy the Burgmühle with a lot of humor... which we luckily had plenty with us! The drinks took an eternity, and the food took more than an eternity! Two hours plus! Incredible in times of electric ovens! My “spare ribs” consisted of 7 knuckles and cold fries. But 22.90 is a hefty price for a hungry guest! But laughter is so healthy! We certainly won't forget this evening!

The ambience is great. Everything else was very bad. The food came after almost 2 hours, the service was overwhelmed and the boss was looking for flimsy excuses. Not recommended.

Very nice - we didn't want to leave!

Eat here? Nope Had a winemaker's platter, i.e. cheese cubes and fruit with fig mustard... you would expect a Morbier, blue mold or Brie/soft cheese to match the wine region and wine recommendation. You get feta/mozzarella and resinous rollers as well as cheap cheese from the packet and plain blackened olives. The "fruit" was a slice of canned pineapple. The only tasty thing was the garlic bread. Garlic soup was delicious. Steak of poor quality and tasteless, but high prices. We won't eat here again. There was stale bread and garbage in the weir. Service was friendly. Edit after answer from the owner: No, I didn't keep an eye on it, so I added a picture of the record. If you're looking for the trash -> in that little weir gate next to your back kitchen door. Of course you can't do anything for the wood, but maybe you can for the bread :) Kind regards

Recommended, price performance is right

Visited for Christmas Day. Welcome and first impression ambience very good and nice. Toilets were not only not cleaned, but actually dirty. Pretty inconvenient for holiday shopping. The food was very tasty, but swapping dumplings and potatoes was not possible. A vegetarian dish came with goulash sauce, but was immediately exchanged with the sentence: "Orrr...I could have guessed that!" Thank you. After our 2 year old was spotted, there were the first evil looks. He walked around once... we were immediately verbally forced to keep the paths clear. Unnecessary and inappropriate. A request as to whether we could get something to paint was dealt with at a glance! Conclusion: Very good for snobs and wine drinkers. For families with (small) children... absolutely not suitable!

You should stop here after a hike through the vineyards. Located directly in Freyburg an der Unstrut. The service is great, with a calm aura...arrive, feel good, taste it and enjoy. There is good home-style food, we chose spiced meat and schnitzel. All ingredients are freshly prepared and prices are completely reasonable. Dog is allowed.

Sehr leckeres Essen in angenehmer Atmosphäre, wir waren hier an einem Samstag Abend und sind freundlich und zuvorkommend bewirtet worden. Schließt allerdings schon 22:00Uhr, aber man soll es ja nicht übertreiben 😀. Sportlich betätigen kann man sich auch, es gibt eine Bowlingbahn.

Freundliches Personal, Portion (Spear Ripps mit Pommes ) war ein bisschen wenig, aber lecker... Sehr gemütlich und super Sitzmöglichkeiten....

Ich bin einfach nur enttäuscht . Wir waren nun schon öfter in der burgmühle und es war bis dato immer sehr lecker und reichlich und der Service gut . Nun haben wir hier eine Feier mit ca 25 Leuten und ich muss sagen es war unterirdisch. Getränke leer ? Kein Problem , Personal füllt auf nachdem wir jenen Bescheid sagen . Essen war nicht wie sonst sondern einfacher und nicht so reichlich . Wir mussten extra für diese kleine Gruppe ( obwohl hier des Öfteren größere Gruppen mit mehr als 25 Leuten vorbei geschnuppert kommen ) vorbestellen und uns 4 essen der Wahl aussuchen . Wenn man keine Pilze möchte sondern lieber Gemüse , wird einfach beides lieblos drauf gematscht . Mal davon abgesehen dass was wir bestellt hatten so auch nicht ankam und wir nachbestellen mussten. Nochmal eine Feier hier ? Ich denke nicht.

Für mich ist dieses Lokal der Anlaufpunkt unter den Restaurants. Innen gemütlich modern und Lokal. Schön gestalteter Außenbereich mit direktem Blick auf die Unstrut, die direkt unter der Mühle durchfließt. Die Preise im Restaurant sind im Mittelfeld.

Eine schöne Lage und eine schöne Terrasse, gutes Essen, doch leider nur Barzahlung möglich, da mussten wir als Kanuwanderer erst das Geld zählen und dann erst bestellen

Trotz seitens des Restaurants vergessener Reservierung wurde uns ein Tisch im abgestellten Jugendherbergs-Abteil (neben Bowlingbahn und Toilette) bereitgestellt. Top! Die Weinauswahl war sehr lecker. Die Kalkulationsfähigkeit der Gastronomen jedoch fehlgeleitet. Der Lieterpreis übersteigt selbiges in einzelnen Weingläsern. Also eben einzeln bestellen. Dauert halt nur länger. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Platz im Magen für eine Vor- oder Nachspeise ist allerdings einkalkuliert. Immerhin ist die Küche auf Zack und liefert auch zu später Stunde noch nen Grillteller nach! Prima! Insgesamt müsste man das Personal fast zum Tisch zerren, um noch was bestellen zu können. Lag vielleicht am Premium-Platz auf dem Abstellgleis. Aber das müsst ihr wissen. Kommen auf jeden Fall wieder, dann aber im Sommer im Außenbereich - sah sehr schön aus. Allerdings Fahrstuhlmusik in Dauerschleife. Aber dafür gibt's ja den Wein.

Als wir uns an einen Tisch setzte wollten und den Kellner begrüßten, kam ein leises "Guten Tag" zurück. 10 Minuten später kam der selbe Kellner und fragte uns was wir trinken möchten. Die Getränke kamen schnell. Nach ca. 20 Minuten, ging mein Partner zu einer Servicekraft und teilte ihr mit, dass wir bestellen möchten. Nach ca. 5 Minuten kam dann "dieser Kellner" und nahm die Bestellung auf. Danach warteten wir wieder ca. 25 Minuten auf zwei Eis und ein Würzfleisch. Ich bin froh, dass ich das Zanderfilet nicht bestellt habe. Sonst würden wir jetzt noch da sitzen. Schade, dass der Service nicht so ist, wie man es von so einem Restaurant erwartet. Über das Würzfleisch kann ich nur sagen: Es war sehr lecker. Also ein Lob an den Koch, obwohl die Zubereitung ja nicht so schwer ist. Das Restaurant war mit nicht vielen Gästen befüllt.

Leider mangelt es an Personal. Eine Kellnerin, die sich die Beine abgelaufen hat und den Gästen nicht gerecht werden konnte, hat sich sehr viel Mühe gegeben. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön.

Wir waren dort mit Freunden zum Kaffeetrinken, später Bowling spielen und anschließend Abendessen. Die Lage ist perfekt und man sitzt auf der Terrasse sehr schön. Minuspunkte sind anzumerken auf der Eisschokolade war nur Sprühsahne und mein Würzfleisch war sehr dünn und geschmacklos. Die allgemeine Sauberkeit war in einem schlechten Zustand. In der Bowlinganlage war es relativ schmutzig und es hingen Spinnweben von der Decke. Der Boden klebte. Ganz auffällig waren die derart schmutzigen großen Fenster am Wintergarten. Auch die Holztische darin waren schmutzig und wurden nur an den Stellen abgewischt wo später eine Gesellschaft saß. Positiv war die freundliche Bedienung die im Dienst war und ihr bestes gab. Ansonsten schade da die Location Potenzial hat.

Wir waren spontan zum Mittagessen mit 4 Personen dort. Es wird gleich am Eingang mehrfach darauf hingewiesen, dass keine Kartenzahlung möglich ist. Es waren sehr viele Tische reserviert, wir haben aber freundlich einen schönen Tisch zugewiesen bekommen. Es gibt keine vegetarischen Gerichte außer Salate in der Karte, auf einer Wandtafel werden Gnocchi in Gorgonzola angeboten. Wir haben ca 1h auf unser Essen gewartet, Getränke wurden schnell gebracht. Der Service war aber nicht sehr aufmerksam. Das Essen war ok, aber ziemlich hochpreisig. Eingeschränkte Empfehlung.
