The food is an explosion of flavor. So delicious. And a great atmosphere with super friendly staff.

We went to Ethio with friends who recommended it to us. And it was well worth the recommendation. The service was excellent and friendly; we were very well looked after. The food was delicious and plentiful; we were able to try a platter for two with many different dishes. Everything was fresh and tasty, and the meat dishes were tender and of very high quality. In short: Ethio is highly recommended for an evening out for two or with friends.

It was absolutely delicious, as always, and we received a very warm welcome. You can tell how much heart and soul the family puts into it. I'm definitely giving it five stars for everything.

My girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here. We had a truly wonderful evening: the food was absolutely excellent and the service superb. The restaurant is quite small but cozy. And even though it was packed, the service never suffered. Many other restaurants could learn a thing or two from them. Highly recommended! We'll definitely be back.

We visited Ethio for the first time yesterday and were thrilled! Even though we arrived spontaneously without a reservation, they did everything they could to seat us despite the restaurant being busy. The ambiance is stylish and pleasant, and the service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Very pleasant indeed! The menu isn't too long, yet offers a wide selection, with something for everyone. The food arrived quickly, was beautifully presented, and the taste immediately won us over. We ordered a wide variety of beef, lamb, and chicken, and everything was excellent and well-seasoned. Eating with flatbread and eating by hand is a fun experience and allows you to easily immerse yourself in a new culinary world. Ethio is also very reasonably priced, even a bit on the affordable side for its location. The two of us paid €56, were completely full, satisfied, and even had to take some leftovers home (which didn't last the night because it was so delicious ;D). Last but not least, the restrooms are small but clean and well-maintained. Everything about Ethio was just perfect, and that doesn't happen to us often, hence this glowing review. If we had to find a downside, it would be the tricky parking situation, but honestly... it's Altona after all. At the end, the owner personally checked to make sure everything was to our satisfaction – that's how it should be. We'll be back very soon :)

Wow, what a lovely evening! Absolutely fantastic food in a cozy atmosphere with wonderful, helpful service! The four of us treated ourselves to the large mixed platter, and there were so many amazing and unique flavors—I loved it! The appetizer with the pastry ash and salad was also superb!

This restaurant failed to meet basic expectations. Our meals were underseasoned and lukewarm, while the servers were inattentive and disorganized. The table was sticky and the restrooms unkempt. For the price charged, the quality was unacceptable. Overall, a frustrating and regrettable dining experience.

Extremely dissatisfied with tonight's visit. The entrée was overcooked, sides were soggy, and the presentation sloppy. Service was slow and unprofessional, with errors on the bill. The dining area felt noisy and neglected. I left hungry and annoyed—definitely not worth the money paid.

Our recent meal here was a disaster. Several dishes arrived late and at different times, one was clearly reheated, and the staff offered poor apologies. Cleanliness seemed lacking and the kitchen's organization appeared chaotic. I expected much better from a place like this.

What a letdown—flavors were flat and the texture was wrong on multiple dishes. The waiter misquoted wait times and service felt rushed. The seating area was cramped and tables were not properly cleared. Sadly, this dining experience did not justify the cost or effort.

I ordered a pickup order for two people today. 5:30 p.m. The food was ready, but the bag had been sitting out for half an hour, as I was told. So the food wasn't lukewarm, but simply...cold. "Still tasty," says the chef. Of course, you can reheat all the little things at home. Only to make them completely soggy, and ultimately, you could have just cooked it yourself. A disappointment. I can't say anything about the food itself; we had to throw it away.

I've been here many times with my family, and we've enjoyed it every time. The Dorowort, Shiro, and Kitfo are simply heavenly. The restaurant is very clean and cozy, the service is great, and I will definitely be back.

Very good and unique food. The photo shows a "09 vegan platter" for €21.50, very tasty and filling. It's traditionally eaten with your fingers and bread, and the owner is happy to welcome anyone who does so; cutlery is readily available for others. Wait times for food and drinks are slightly longer. When full, it's noisy; the dining room is small. No dogs allowed inside. There are a few seats available in front of the house.

The delicious and authentic food and the super friendly staff are a definite 5/5. You feel right at home. The ambiance is also top-notch thanks to the stunning garden and beautiful decor!

We were there as a family and ate in the beautiful garden – a truly wonderful atmosphere. The food was freshly prepared and very aromatic. The injera, dessert, and Ethiopian coffee were absolute highlights, and we also loved the red wine. Considering the excellent quality, we thought the price was very fair. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to come here once a month – it's become our little family ritual!

An excellent experience of east africa 🌍 Ethopia. Truly they brought the culture in the west of Europe. I felt so Home since the cuisine is exactly like east indian. The chicken curry with egg is 💯 the same as my hometown. They have the plate for 2 or more to share. Surely for us it was too much. I recommend to take it if you vising first time. The service is out of the chart. The waiters are friendly and patient. The colorful designs are eye-catching. The Meister visited us specially to check how we are doing if anything is required!!! We loved the evening 🌃. I recommend visiting. As I am going to visit again.

The food was amazing and the potions are really good we got really full but we also feel that every euro spent was absolutely worth every bite. My girlfriend and I Share the Starter and We Got the Mix Platte for Two and I can Only say the starter was phenomenal full of fresh fruit, and a lovely green salad with the most amazing dressing. The mixed platter for two was really nice because you got to try a little bit of everything on the menu. My girlfriend isn’t a fan of parsley, but I love parsley so if you are a parsley lover, they don’t go overboard, but the Flavas are really balanced, and if you are not a parsley lover, then I would recommend asking the chef to skip the parsley But overall, an awesome experience, a very welcoming adventure into a new food, culture and excellence service, and customer orientated Restaurant. I would have loved to give a bigger tip, but they only accept tips in cash so take that into consideration because I wish I had more cash on me

A platter for two people with a wide variety of items from the menu. Of course, they also accommodated our other requests, like not spicy or lamb. A true highlight in Hamburg! Friends recommended this restaurant to us. The restaurant not only offers incredibly delicious and authentic Ethiopian food, but also a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Visiting feels more like an experience than a typical restaurant meal—almost as if you're being invited to a friend's home. The many vegetarian options and surprisingly good cocktails are particularly great—the Gin Basil Smash and Espresso Martini are highly recommended. The owners take great care of their guests and make the evening truly special.

Last night I had dinner at Ethio, and I have to say: it was really a great experience! As soon as you enter you can feel the warm atmosphere - cozy and inviting. The interior is lovingly designed, with many traditional elements that immediately make you want to try Ethiopian cuisine. The menu offers a nice selection of dishes and I opted for a mixed platter so I could try as much as possible. The various lentils, vegetables and meat dishes were extremely seasoned, had an intense taste and were served on the typical Ethiopian flatbread, injera. I found the spicy lentil sauce particularly tasty – I could have easily eaten more of it! The service was also great: very friendly, attentive and always with a smile. You felt completely at home and were happy to explain something about the individual dishes. If you're looking for authentic Ethiopian cuisine, Ethio is definitely the right place. I'll definitely be back!

Great food and a great outdoor area!

Eight of us had dinner and it was simply fantastic! Although we arrived a little early and our tables were logically not ready, we received a warm welcome. Within seconds the tables were prepared for us. The food was excellent and so were the drinks. You really feel welcome here! When the wonderful host heard that our friend was celebrating his 40th birthday, he played “Happy Birthday” in the background, quickly set out glasses and offered us a bottle of really delicious Prosecco. We clapped, sang and the host was happy for us. We have never experienced such hospitality! This experience went far beyond good food, it was balm for the soul. We can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back.
