Asteria in Berlin

A solid visit to a modern Greek restaurant with a dark, purple ambiance. The food was decent, and the service was friendly and attentive. There was a bit of a mix-up during serving – some plates were delivered to the wrong person, which we had to sort out ourselves at the table. The Greek music in the background was pleasant and added to the atmosphere. Plenty of seating, which can make it feel a bit large and impersonal. There's a noticeable draft in the downstairs area when the entrance door opens. Uzo was automatically delivered and refilled as requested. To finish, we had a small dessert or espresso – all on the house.

I went to dinner with my boyfriend on March 21st for my birthday, and I was surprised with three scoops of ice cream 🍨 and two lit sparklers. I was so overwhelmed, I was speechless because I wasn't expecting it. The food was great, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. If I'm ever in Berlin again, we'll go there again. I've never met people like that on Lake Constance, where I come from. Thanks for the nice surprise.

The later it got, the louder the music got, too loud for me. The food was very good, as always.

Good food with large portions, good value for money. Ouzo is always given as a gift and at the end we have Greek yoghurt on the house. Ambiance a bit from the 90s, concept not entirely consistent with the design. The big negative point is the lack of card payment!!! This is not pointed out. Just a small sign somewhere on the window (not on the door). Something like that is out of date and then you actually ask yourself what the real reason for paying in cash only is. The criticism is then reacted somewhat stubbornly.

Nice Greek restaurant with some adult menus

On a snowy day I visited the restaurant with a friend and were immediately greeted with an ouzo! Didn't have to wait long for food and drinks. The food was very good and I have nothing to complain about, the meat “bifteki & grill plate” are particularly worth mentioning! Excellent!! I'll definitely be back so see you soon and thank you very much! :) P.S. Only cash payment is possible, please have the information changed to co on Google.

The price-performance ratio is right here. Hospitality, delicious Greek food and live music on weekends. Life hack! Be sure to reserve on the weekend! Even if only for two. Ouzo is still available here! Top! The only star deduction is that payment is only possible in cash! #CashOnly And for dishes around 20 EUR, you should also offer card payment.

The food is great! As you imagine it or even better. There's plenty on the big plate so you can roll home. ;-) The staff was prompt, polite and attentive.

Food was terrific!! After a while we even got a better table, it was a bit cold at the door but that's due to the winter. Ouzo pot on the house, dessert on the house, music in the background. Nice atmosphere!! I can only recommend it..

That was awesome for you! The place was packed to capacity and we got food that was incomparable. Everything was cooked to perfection, tasted perfect and the meat was of excellent quality. Service quite overwhelmed but still very, very friendly and accommodating. Had to wait a little longer, but not so tragic. In the meantime we were basically filled with ouzo. Please do something on the menu, draft beer or black beer from the bottle, which was declared exactly as such, is not possible in a professionally run restaurant. Live music was very great and really gave us a little trip to Greece, thank you for this great evening.

A great address in Berlin The Asteria in Prenzlauer Berg is a highlight every time I am in Berlin! The food is sumptuous and of the highest quality, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. What's particularly nice is that the ouzo continues to be poured until you turn the glass over - a really charming detail! A small note: It can sometimes be a bit drafty at the entrance, but this hardly affects the cozy atmosphere and the great overall experience. Overall, a wonderful place that I can only recommend to everyone – I always enjoy coming back!

The restaurant is solid. The furnishings are quite nice, but also hall-like, so it can be loud at times. The service is friendly and attentive. The prices are a little higher, but reasonable in relation to the portion size. All in all, I personally didn't think the food was spicy enough, but that's a matter of taste.

When I'm in Berlin, this Greek place is an absolute must. Great and friendly service who attach great importance to service. There is plenty of food and ouzo here. Price-performance ratio is absolutely right. Always my pleasure.

Excellent Greek cuisine is offered here. The portions are more than sufficient and the service is clearly characterized by Greek hospitality and warmth. My tip is always garlic potatoes, if you like that sort of thing.

Great and plentiful food at a pleasant price. Ouzo is always refilled for free. The bedside table is served for free and a free espresso is included.

Spent a team event with colleagues there. Top notch garlic potatoes that are a must try. Food was really very tasty. Great service, no table was free that evening, but someone from the service was always available (good staffing ratio). Thank you for the warm hospitality. Gladly again!!

If you fancy a mountain of grilled food, you have to go to Asteria. Perfectly prepared, juicy, accompanied by a drink of your choice. The guys already provide almost too much ouzo for free. There are also other classics of Greek cuisine. In the summer outside on the Schönhauser. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to make a reservation...

Super friendly service, the food was served quickly and was very tasty. It was our first time there and we will eat there again next time we visit Berlin.

It was my first time in this restaurant, and I am totaly keep koing there, at the starting point we had to wait for around 5 minutes, and ofcourse I think it was because we were there on friday night but it was worth waiting. Super kind behavior of staff, great music, super delicious food would and special snaps that they keep bringing would definitly make the night. We enjoyed or night there, and strongly suggested. But dont forget to reserve a table before, cause they are busy.

Very good food and very friendly and competent staff. If something has been forgotten we apologize. The food is plentiful and the price/performance ratio is right. Ouzo is always added. I've eaten there both professionally and privately and would love to come back. Unreservedly recommended. PS: Thank you also for the forgotten pepperoni, which was on the house.

Tasty food and really a good big portion, the bifteki I can only recommend! The service was also really nice and quick, we got some ouzo to start and we got it also in the end along with a complementary dessert! I really enjoyed it. The only minus point was the atmosphere, there was a life band which was really good but the music was really loud and it was difficult to talk without screaming, that is not the optimal situation while eating, didn’t expect that

The right place if you want to have a really good meal. We love this restaurant and are regulars. The food is very tasty, sumptuous and authentic. You definitely get a lot for your money. But first and foremost we come because of the exceptionally good service. They are super friendly, accommodating and take great care of the children, for whom there is also a special menu. You always feel warmly welcome and in good hands. It is also a popular place for birthday parties and there is often even live music.

Very fast guys there. Really very tasty, tasty and large portions. Food comes quickly and is hot. Ouzo and Greek yogurt. The former was refilled several times. Not cheap, but appropriate for the quality and performance. Unfortunately only cash payment; you should know beforehand. I don't think it's up to date anymore. Otherwise everything was great 👍

Best Greek restaurant we have been to. Very generous plates so you'll be full. 2×Ouzo, small dessert and espresso were on the house. Everything is perfect at this restaurant. If you ever visit Berlin, this is the perfect address.

Our favorite Greek restaurant in Berlin! Reserved in advance. Friendly and fast service, the guys are always quick. Drinks came quickly, starter was amazing, tasted really good (Saganaki), main course didn't take long to arrive. Everything was very attractively presented, hot and tasty, really large portions of very good quality. Ouzo was refilled on the house, there was also a free quark dish and an espresso, great! Prices are absolutely reasonable. Still only cash payment, NO card payment. We'll be back until the next time we're back from Hamburg. THANKS

The food was delicious and at the end a group of around 15 invited people insisted on paying in cash. So no card payment. That's why only 2 service points.

The place is really nice and was of course completely full on a Friday evening. Service was still really good, even if the food took a while. As usual with Greeks, portions were very generous. On the Asteria plate, the gyros could have been warmer and the souflaki was a bit dry, but otherwise everything was fine. And of course there was plenty of ouzo in between. In terms of price, it's a bit high, but still within reasonable limits (certainly also because of the top location).

I've visited this place at least 4 times among which I also chose to celebrate my birthday there. However on the last visit where we came with a group of 7 people that came to visit Berlin on the 22nd of August, we've experienced the most arrogant and unwelcome service thus far. Among other things while asking for a round of ouzo shots we were 'served' with a lecture how the ouzo is free and they will decide when it will arrive and even when we asked to pay for it ourselves we were told off by the waiter that we need to let him finish his 'take/explanation/lecture' by which end we even regretted ordering the food. The food is delicious as always, but after this last treatment from the staff, I'd definitely support another restaurant and definitely not recommend to anyone to come here unfortunately.

Tourist trap! For what felt like 250 grams of gyros (which was really tasty) and a few fried potatoes with a completely sliced ​​vegetable onion, paying 14.80 was still halfway ok, but paying 5.50€ for a 0.5 liter hefeweizen was really outrageous. Anyone who likes to drink ouzo and wants to have a good time is in good hands here. You couldn't drink as quickly as you could get a (free) refill. Flair like in the main train station. CONCLUSION.... Sometimes less is more!

Wow, food was very tasty, portions are very fair and in sync with pricing. Staff was attentive and friendly. We will be returning for sure. I don't give 5 🌟 because there's no card payment available, WC are in a 1st floor and when sitting to eat in the terrace the very present smells take away the dinning experience for me.

My absolute favorite Greek restaurant in Berlin! I am in Berlin at least 4 times a year and the Asteria is a must!!! It is advisable to make a reservation as the Asteria is always busy. If you don't mind the street noise, there is enough space outside to eat the delicious dishes. If desired, the leftovers (there are always huge portions) can be presented well packaged to take away. The interior is mostly Greek in design, you sit comfortably and feel at home. The staff is quick, friendly and attentive, although if the restaurant is overcrowded you may have to wait a bit. Service comes first. The ouzo is always refilled, which I think is particularly great 😉. The food comes quickly, everything I have ever eaten there has been delicious, filling and always served hot. A small dessert always comes free. Sometimes Greek yogurt, sometimes fruit. A salad is always served before the main course. Price/performance is completely okay! Easy to reach by public transport.

The grill platter is delicious and well served. The waiters are super friendly and fun. I can only wish all restaurants in Berlin were like this!

Seating outside, under a canopy. Visit on weekends late in the evening, after 10 p.m. Kitchen still open, dishes were served quickly. Large appetizer platter - well suited as a main course, fried zucchini and eggplant slices in a spicy (beer?) pond; Gigantos in tomato sauce; Tzatziki and other paste. Service quick and friendly. Ouzo served on the house and snacked on. Toilet on 1st floor. Cash only.
