I treated myself to a doner kebab for the first time in ages, and I couldn't have made a better choice. Another customer happened to be standing outside and immediately recommended it. Honestly, I've never had such a delicious doner kebab, and I'm not exaggerating! The highlight was the flavor and the amount of meat, and the huge piece of feta cheese the friendly owner piled on top. I was completely full from a regular doner kebab. Go and see for yourself!

Far too many pieces of fat in the meat. I know fat is part of it, etc., but if these pieces—and there are a lot of them—are impossible to chew, then they definitely don't belong in the doner kebab. It's a real shame because otherwise it would taste good.

Let's start with the positives. A solid doner kebab, good meat, everything else okay, a bit small for €9. The meat is good but not very seasoned, but you can always add more seasoning yourself. The lahmacun was standard frozen and the lentil soup wasn't bad, but not great either; I certainly wouldn't order it again. All in all, the food was okay. Now for the reason for the 1-star rating. I was there with my family, and since we're from Essen, we ate in. The employee responsible for clearing and cleaning the tables made a comment that we couldn't hear. When we were almost finished eating and I had already finished, I went to the cashier to pay. The man came back and explained that it wasn't possible to eat in with three small children because it took too long and he would have had to turn others away. He suggested that people with children should order takeout instead. We might not have been the fastest, but we were there in under 25 minutes, maybe 20. My understanding of hospitality and customer service is quite different. Even considering the alleged financial losses, there were always one or two tables free during our visit. All in all, the doner kebab is good, the rest is unnecessary, and the service is a disaster.

It's truly rare to find something like this: perfectly prepared, wonderfully crispy on the outside and juicy and flavorful on the inside. You can immediately tell that real meat is used on the spit – not the pressed minced meat you get at so many other places. Every bite is a delight – delicately seasoned, grilled to perfection, and simply unbeatable when combined with the fresh vegetables, homemade sauces, and crispy bread. The team is also incredibly friendly, the portions are generous, and the place is always clean and inviting. In short: Artuklu sets the standard for how doner should taste. Once you've eaten here, you won't want to go anywhere else! 🔥

The staff seemed a bit stressed, but the doner kebab itself was amazing. I had a doner for €9, which was okay overall. The meat was fantastic, but the rest wasn't anything special. Definitely worth a visit. Regarding the atmosphere: It's a very small, cramped place. They don't bother with decorations or anything like that; the focus is entirely on the food.

Unfortunately, our visit to this kebab shop was very disappointing. Firstly, we were not greeted in a friendly manner, which immediately left a bad impression. Secondly, the meat was not cooked properly. It was tough, rubbery, and tasteless at all. After eating, we even had an unpleasant feeling and our health was affected, so much so that we didn't even finish the entire kebab. We are very disappointed, especially since this kebab shop is well-known on Instagram, which is why we went there. Afterwards, when we wanted to pay at the cash register, we witnessed a customer requesting that the meat be grilled thoroughly. If nothing changes, they will certainly lose more and more customers.

Very good kebab, which I drove all the way from the center of Essen at night for. Unfortunately I missed everything and so I had to wait 30 minutes for the bus there, 30 minutes for the bus back and 30 minutes for the U-Bahn back to the center, so the whole event took more than 2 hours. But it was worth it and I don't regret it. Friendly place with good food.

They put way too little meat in the döner kebab, there's no real meat in it, you're just eating salad. Unfortunately, the small-mindedness of döner kebab is that the less meat I put in and the more döner kebab I sell, the more I can make money. It's not about feeding people and letting them enjoy the meat, it's a shame... Döner meat is delicious, but it's not worth traveling 20-30 km like I did for lunch, just wondering about it, of course, in my personal opinion. Good luck...

The food was really delicious, but €9 for a doner kebab is a lot. The flatbread, in particular, was not enjoyable. For a doner kebab that costs €9, you'd expect at least fresh, homemade bread or something similar. The skewer not only looked good, it was also tasty. Half a doner kebab cost €13, but you're happy to pay for quality if it's justified. But the competition offers much more for less money! Absolutely.

This kebab is a good, standard kebab. The meat is good, and the rest is standard. I came with high expectations, but unfortunately, the large kebab isn't completely filled. There's a lot of dry bread left over.

I was there today and had a plate. 15 euros. Tea was free. Overall, it was delicious. But the meat wasn't seasoned enough for me, and the slices were too small. They were very stingy with the salad (see picture), but not with the meat. But for me, Bizim Corbaci Deluxe remains the number one in Gelsenkirchen.

Ever since we (my family) discovered this kebab shop, we've only eaten here; anything else has become a kebab sin. This isn't just the best kebab in North Rhine-Westphalia for us, it's also better than the one in Berlin. You can tell the meat is real meat and not rubbery, separated meat. The vegetables are always fresh and not overcooked, and the bread is crispy. Sure, the prices are higher than some others, but they also offer correspondingly high quality.

And you can taste it. The meat is perfectly seasoned, nice and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and above all: genuine flavor. Not a fake doner kebab with 50% water content, but honest meat, just the way you want it. The shop is super clean, the service is friendly and quick, the process runs like clockwork. Everything seems tidy, well-coordinated, and just right. But: The portion... let's face it, it's more for people who've already had a pretzel. For hungry sheriffs, it won't even stretch to the state border. And the prices are a bit raising an eyebrow. Quality aside, a little more on the plate would be fair. Conclusion: Döner made with respect, meat with character, but the sheriff had to eat a banana on the way home. If you value quality, this is the place for you. If you're hoping to be full, you might want to get two. Or snack on something else beforehand.

I visited Artuklu in Gelsenkirchen after seeing and hearing many positive reviews online. The homemade veal skewer was not only large but also delicious. I was particularly impressed by the special bread into which the doner kebab is placed directly without cutting it completely. This gives it a unique touch. The service was excellent; the chef himself was very accommodating and took good care of his guests. At the end of the meal, we even received a free cup of tea. I've been eating there for years and am more than satisfied with the quality. There is no need to argue that quality has its price. You can't get a new Mercedes for the Dacia price either. I hate these people who want the best for free. You're doing a good job and Gelsenkirchen can be proud of such a great kebab that is easily one of the best in Germany.

Very tasty kebab. However, for the price of €9 a small kebab. You would need at least 2 kebabs to fill you up. The taste is unique. And the quality speaks for itself. But I wouldn't go there specifically for the kebab, but there are enough kebab shops in Gelsenkirchen that are just as good for a better price and bigger.

Best kebab in North Rhine-Westphalia and Germany

This is the second time I've tried the kebab. There's basically nothing to complain about in terms of taste - it was fine. But the price-performance ratio doesn't suit me at all. For 9 euros I just expect more. The kebab is significantly smaller compared to other shops, and I have eaten larger and even better-tasting kebabs for less money - and that wasn't that long ago. I would perhaps give the store another chance if the relationship between price and performance was reconsidered. But currently 9 euros for such a small kebab is simply too much.

I went to Aruklu Grill and absolutely loved it! The veal was super tender and aromatic – simply a pleasure. The kebab plate was also great: perfectly seasoned and really tasty. I would particularly like to highlight the Lahmacun – thin, crispy and tasty. The bread was also nice and thin and crispy, just as it should be. Overall, a real taste experience – everything is just right here. Highly recommended!

Meat is tender as butter...you can taste that the meat was bathed in milk overnight (like Cleopatra, so to speak) The masters in the shop make the kebab skewer themselves, craftsmanship! It's becoming more and more rare, I chased after a large and a small kebab, just bread and meat...it was really a treat for the palate, so juicy and aromatic...the skewer literally cries when it's being cut...just try it, you won't regret it...Many thanks to the two Ustas in the shop for the nice conversation....
