A truly lovely ambiance if you sit on the terrace. The wine selection is decent. Service is friendly. The food is convenience food and, in my opinion, overpriced.

We wanted to eat two pieces of cake on Friday afternoon. Well, there was only one left at 5 p.m., so it's not a big deal, so we shared. The "self-service" concept works quite well so far; I only find it cheeky to actively "ask" for a tip. If I get my €4.90 cake myself from the counter and bring it to my table, I'm not the kind of customer who tips here. :) Even after a "Yeah, right, you don't have to tip a €4.90 cake." At least the carrot cake was delicious and was served to me quickly.

Den Anleger 511 gibt es gefühlt schon ewig. Tolle Lage direkt am Rhein. Leider muss ich aber den beiden letzten Vor-Rezensenten beipflichten: Das war es schon. Grundsätzlich freundliches Team. Aber: Kein Tischservice zur Bestellung, nur Selbstbedienungsbestellung. Was selbst bei wenig Gästen schon mit Warten verbunden war. Zu den gastronomischen Qualitäten, die für mich komplett zur Abwertung führen: Die angebotenen Gerichte maßlos überteuert, selbst für diese Lage. Ein Stück Leberkäse auf Kartoffel-Gurken-Salat (selbst gemacht war für mich fraglich) mit einem Spiegelei als Tagesgericht, überschaubare Portion, für satte 17€, Wurstsalat (selbstgemacht?) mit Brotscheibchen für 14€, eine läppische Bratwurst mit einem Brötchen für 8€, als Currywurst für sagenhafte 11€. Da ist selbst der unkritisch auf sein Budget schauende Gast nicht mehr „amused“. Zumindest kam die keine lange Zubereitung benötigende Nahrung sehr schnell an den Tisch. Faktisch hatte es das Niveau eines mittelprächtigen Imbisses bei Höchstpreisen. Die offenen Weine zudem keine Offenbarung, aber zumindest gut eingeschenkt. Fazit: Das könnte richtig gut sein, wenn die Qualität des Essens für den aufgerufenen Preis drastisch gesteigert wird (oder alternativ der Preis gesenkt wird) und bei den offenen Weinen mal kritisch zur Verbesserung drüber geschaut wird. So haben wir uns im Rückblick ein wenig abgezogen gefühlt, dass wir dafür Geld bezahlt haben. Aber es mag jeder selbst entscheiden, ob ihm das zusagt. Wir werden aktuell nicht wiederkommen. Lage: 5 Punkte, Gastronomie 1 Punkt, was auch mit etwas Abstand die Bewertung für uns letztendlich bestimmt.

tja, das war es dann wohl! Der Anleger 511 ist nicht mehr das, was er einmal war. Und wir können das beurteilen. Wir waren quasi seit Eröffnung unzählige Male da. Die frühere Crew mit ihren schönen blauen Shirts war immer freundlich, flott und hat die Tische immer wieder rasch in Ordnung gebracht. Gestern hat das ewig gedauert und die Mücken und Wespen angezogen. Der Kommentar, dass es viel zu tun gibt, hat nicht überzeugt. Das Lokal war zudem nur spärlich besetzt. Auch das kennen wir anders, auch an einem ganz normalen Wochentag. Der Stress wurde bei jedem Handgriff verbal dokumentiert, das ist für uns als Gäste nicht erholsam. Wir wissen, was es heisst zu arbeiten. Auch der Ablauf an der Theke war umständlich und langsam, die Bratwurst lauwarm. Wir sind sehr enttäuscht und können diese Veränderung nicht wirklich nachvollziehen. 😩😭😏 Ursula

Was zum Teufel ist hier passiert? An einem schönen Sommerabend ist der Anleger 511 nahezu leer. Das ist überraschend, denn die Location war viele Jahre eine fest Größe im Rheingau. Im Laufe des Abends lernen wir, warum es hier so leer ist... Vor einigen Monaten hat der Besitzer gewechselt. Und das ist dem Laden offensichtlich nicht bekommen. Service gab es hier noch nie, das Prinzip ist: Bestellen und bezahlen an der Theke, Getränke trägt man selbst zum Tisch, das Essen wird irgendwann von jemandem aus der Küche gebracht. Dafür musste man noch nie Service-Sterne vergeben, aber das Konzept war irgendwie okay, solange die Qualität stimmte. Das tut sie aber nicht mehr. Das an diesem Abend im Juni Gebotene war eine Frechheit - um es freundlich zu sagen. Zumal zu diesen Preisen. Der Anleger hatte immer eine, nun ja: ausgesprochen selbstbewusste Preisgestaltung - aber wenigstens stimmte die Qualität der Ware, die auf solide Weise zubereitet war. Jetzt besteht die Anleger-Experience aber hieraus: * Für acht (in Zahlen: 8!!) Euro gibt es eine Bratwurst in einem wirklich sehr alten und wirklich harten Brötchen mit einem Klecks Senf - das grenzt an offensive Verachtung für den Gast. * Wenn man es zwingend wollte, könnte man dieselbe Wurst mit demselben alten Brötchen als Currywurst haben - für elf (in Zahlen: 11!!!) Euro. * Der so genannte "Frühlingssalat mit gratiniertem Ziegenfrischkäse" für 18 Euro war dann nicht weniger als eine phantastische Unverschämtheit: Das Grünzeug stammte erkennbar aus der Fertigsalattüte vom Discounter und war ebenso erkennbar nicht mehr frisch, sondern weich und bräunlich. (Man darf annehmen, dass der "neue" Anleger aus einer 300-Gramm-Tüte für 1,99 Euro ungefähr fünf Portionen à 18 Euro rausholt...) Dafür war der Ziegenfrischkäse darauf oben und unten zu Steinkohle verbrannt und dazwischen lappig. * Das "knusprige Teriyaki-Hähnchen" auf dem anderen "Frühlingssalat" war ab-so-lut billigster Convenience-Kram (Hühnerreste in Industriepanade) und der so genannte "Salat" darunter hatte seine beste Zeit ebenfalls entschieden hinter sich. * Gerade noch vertretbar war der angeblich hausgemachte Wurstsalat für 14,50 Euro - wobei man sich gefreut hätte, wenn das "Landbrot" nicht schon schmeckbar am Tag davor aufgeschnitten worden wäre und es vielleicht gnädigerweise ein bisschen Butter dazu gegeben hätte. To make a long story short: Man müsste sich wirklich sehr anstrengen, um irgendwo im Rheingau zu diesen Preise noch schlechter essen zu können. Man müsste sich aber auch schon anstrengen, um für die Hälfte des Geldes anderswo im Rheingau schlechter essen zu gehen. Der Anleger 511 von heute (Juni 2025) ist ein Schatten seiner selbst. Was auch immer die Idee der neuen Besitzer ist - so funktioniert das nicht. Irgendwie ist das, was da gerade passiert, durchaus tragisch, weil der Ort so unvergleichlich schön ist. Aber das nützt ja nichts, solange an diesem schönen Ort ein so hässliches Gastro-Konzept verfolgt wird. Eingeborene Rheingauer:innen haben mit dem Anleger (vor allem wegen der sportlichen Preise) schon immer gefremdelt. Aber das, was da jetzt geboten wird, ist selbst für die an sich schmerzfreie Besserverdienerbubble aus Wiesbaden/Bad Homburg/Frankfurt, die früher einen entscheidenden Teil der Kundschaft ausgemacht hat, zu scham- und würdelos. Vermutlich deswegen ist es im Anleger 511 derzeit auch an einem warmen Sommerabend so leer. Und ganz sicher wird sich daran nichts ändern, solange der Gast dort von der ersten bis zur letzten Minute das Gefühl haben muss, mit lieblos zubereitetem Convenience-Food zu wirklich dreisten Preisen auf eine erstaunlich schamlose Weise abgezockt zu werden.

What the hell happened here? On a beautiful summer evening, Anleger 511 is almost empty. That's surprising, because the location was a fixture in the Rheingau for many years. Over the course of the evening, we learn why it's so empty here... A few months ago, the owner changed. And that obviously didn't agree with the place. There's never been any service here; the principle is: order and pay at the counter, carry your own drinks to your table, and the food will be brought from the kitchen at some point. They've never had to award service stars for that, but the concept was somehow okay as long as the quality was right. But it isn't anymore. What was on offer that June evening was a disgrace—to put it kindly. Especially at those prices. Anleger has always had, well, extremely confident pricing—but at least the quality of the food, prepared in a solid manner, was right. Now, the investor experience consists of this: * For eight (in numbers: 8!!) euros, you get a bratwurst in a really old and really hard roll with a dollop of mustard – that borders on offensive contempt for the customer. * If you really wanted to, you could have the same sausage with the same old roll as a currywurst – for eleven (in numbers: 11!!!) euros. * The so-called "spring salad with gratinated goat's cheese" for 18 euros was nothing less than a fantastic outrage: The greens clearly came from a ready-made salad bag from the discount store and were just as clearly no longer fresh, but soft and brownish. (One can assume that the "new" investor gets about five portions of 18 euros each out of a 300-gram bag for 1.99 euros...) On the other hand, the goat's cheese on top was burnt to a sliver on top and bottom, and lumpy in between. * The "crispy teriyaki chicken" on the other "spring salad" was absolutely cheap convenience food (chicken leftovers in industrial breading), and the so-called "salad" underneath was also clearly past its prime. * The supposedly homemade sausage salad for €14.50 was just about acceptable – although one would have been happy if the "country bread" hadn't been tangily sliced ​​the day before and perhaps a gracious bit of butter had been added. To make a long story short: You'd have to try really hard to find worse food anywhere in the Rheingau at these prices. But you'd also have to try hard to find worse food elsewhere in the Rheingau for half the price. Today's pier 511 (June 2025) is a shadow of its former self. Whatever the new owners' idea is – it doesn't work that way. In a way, what's happening there is quite tragic, because the place is so incomparably beautiful. But that's no use as long as such an ugly restaurant concept is pursued in this beautiful place. Native Rheingau residents have always felt alienated by the dock (especially because of the lofty prices). But what's being offered there now is too shameless and undignified, even for the otherwise pain-free, high-income bubble from Wiesbaden/Bad Homburg/Frankfurt, which used to make up a significant portion of the clientele. That's probably why it's currently so empty at Dock 511, even on a warm summer evening. And that certainly won't change as long as guests there have to feel, from the first to the last minute, that they're being ripped off in an astonishingly shameless manner with carelessly prepared convenience food at truly outrageous prices.

A beautiful place right by the river. You can sit in the shade and look at the water. Spundskäs was average in taste, the bread was ordinary, too sour for me. But the atmosphere is conducive to relaxation.

Hatten ein kleines Mittagessen an diesem schönen „Logenplatz am Rhein“: Das Bärlauchrisotto mit Lachsforelle war frisch zubereitet. Das Konzept mit Bestellung am Eingang ist vermutlich dem allgemeinen Personalmangel geschuldet, aber kein echtes Problem, da die Gerichte ja an den Tisch kommen.

Been here twice. We only ordered Aperol. It was delicious each time. I really like the atmosphere of the place, namely the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful views of the Rhine.

Today I ate the worst tarte flambée of my life, if you can call that piece of brown cardboard from the microwave that.

The food was very, very good. A fantastic dessert: strawberries with sorrel ice cream and a delicious wine spritzer. My soup was simply magnificent.

I stopped by spontaneously and snagged a table! Enjoyed a delicious aperitif and relaxed. Directly across the street, a lovely oasis in the castle garden. A gem!

A really nice place right on the water! We enjoyed an excellent Pinot Gris and a delicious bratwurst - both perfect for a relaxing moment of enjoyment. The service was top: attentive, friendly and fast. The location is unbeatable, with views of the Rhine and a relaxed atmosphere. We would definitely like to come back!

We had a cappuccino there on a spontaneous trip. It was comfortable to sit there and the waitresses were very friendly.

Whenever we visit Eltville, we go to pier 511, sit in the inner courtyard, right on the Rhine, and watch the ships sail by while enjoying delicious food and drinks. A nice place to relax and end the day. The service is always very nice, courteous, attentive and polite. Take a look and see for yourself...

That would be the ambience when you sit outside, it's pleasant. Inside it's not really exciting. We cannot comment on service as this is self-service. You have to go to the counter and order your drink, take it with you and pay immediately on the spot.

If usury and greed have a name, then it is the investor in Eltville on the Rhine. To charge 5.80 for a mulled wine is simply a disgrace.

The location is beautifully located directly on the Rhine, with a large terrace and a few indoor seats. Unfortunately the service isn't great and there are long waiting times even though it's self-service!

Here you can sit right on the Rhine and enjoy imaginative, tasty Mediterranean cuisine with local ingredients and wonderful wines from the Rheingau at reasonable prices.

The Investor, for me the best wine bar in the Rheingau. You basically sit on the water (the Rhine) and enjoy the view with the best wine and excellent food. I've been coming back for many years!

Pier 511 in Eltville is mandatory on every trip to the Rheingau. In a beautiful ambience directly on the Rhine you have a large selection of excellent wines. The food has always tasted very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We're always happy to come back!

A very nice restaurant, great location! The service was very quick and nice, but I deducted a star because it was too. You have to go to the checkout to order yourself. This is a typical concept around here - but I'm more of a fan of the classic full-table service 🙂 Would go back at any time! Even if some of the clientele seemed very snobby - the staff, the food and the ambience were great!

Best currywurst ever =) My review does not refer to the restaurant Investor 511, but to the currywurst stand next to it in a unique location directly on the Rhine, embedded in the beautiful historic riverside promenade. The currywurst without any additives tastes so indescribably delicious that every single person in our group had a positive surprise on their faces after the first bite. The fruity, aromatic sauce can be seasoned with mild or hot curry as desired. We would be happy to come back every time we are in Eltville.

It's actually a shame... This beautifully located restaurant has unfortunately gone into decline. At the entrance gate there was no greeting such as "Good evening"... instead a loud “We are full!”. When we pointed out that there was a free table right in front of us, the answer was: "Well then just take it..." When ordering food, the snippy announcement: “There’s nothing left to eat here.” When asked: "... we have 50 meals on order here - it's only your turn when these are served - if the kitchen isn't closed by then (that was at 7:00 p.m.) ..." To be honest, this is anything but a professional service, it's more like a chip shop - unfortunately the wonderful location doesn't make up for it. The prices are absolutely excessive for self-service plus this unmotivated and amateurish service and are not justified. It's a shame, this was once a popular address for us.

€11.85 for a latte and a wine spritzer ...and you have to get the drinks yourself at the bar... For me the price/performance isn't quite right... But the ambience is nice 👍

Ambiente, Essen und Wein waren so gut, dass wir an zwei aufeinander folgenden Abend zu Besuch waren. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Konzept mit Bestellung am Tresen ist überzeugend. Wir kommen gerne wieder, wenn's das nächste Mal an den schönen Rhein geht. Grüsse aus der Schweiz.

I'm sorry, but THAT doesn't work at all. The bread is at least 1 day old. Staff: arrogant. Unfriendly. Chaotic. One says: order inside. The other thing: you can also order outside. Uh… phew.

Die Lage am Rhein ist einmalig. Aber diese allein macht es nicht! Service ist nicht vorhanden, alles Selbstbedienung,dafür sind die Preise zu üppig. Das Stück Pflaumenkuchen mit seifiger Sahne 5,90 €. Man steht am Tresen in der Schlange und hat den Eindruck, dass von der Crew nur eine Person zügig arbeitet.. Das Personal ist nicht geschult und verhält sich nicht professionell.......ein Wohlfühlambiente gestaltet sich anders.

Very nice location and a wonderful Riesling for 21 euros a bottle. Only the classic tarte flambée for 14.50 euros comes across as a ready meal, flabby, manageable and sprinkled with a few crumbs of fresh onions for camouflage. You really shouldn't offer something like that - at that price.

Located directly on the Rhine in Eltville, the location is fantastic, the view is gigantic. We liked the menu, but didn't blow us away. The wine selection is also absolutely fine, recommendation: long wine, perfect in summer! The most important thing here is the location. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately, the food is completely overpriced and not edible (stay away from the salad bowl!). All in all, one of the worse restaurants I've been to this year. Disappointing.

Top location directly on the Rhine. Unfortunately, the prices are totally exorbitant, e.g. 1 currywurst with roll 11.00 euros. We had sausage salad with fresh farmer's bread, I can definitely recommend it. The quantity was okay too. The view of the Rhine is great.

Very nice restaurant, right on the Rhine. The gentle breeze was a life saver after a hot day, as was the cold beer and good food. Service is great. Similar to many diners, you order and pay at the counter, get a number, and your food is brought to you. We were a party of 6 for a late evening dinner. They have several beers to choose from as well as a good selection of wine and spritzers. We had checked their online menu, but some things had changed. The food: the flammkuchen was, unfortunately, sold out for the day (but I hear it's delicious). The summer salad had an amazing honey mustard dressing. The bratwurst was flavorful. The only issue was the spaghetti bolognaise was a little dry for our tastes; not enough tomato passata in the meat sauce in my brother's opinion. Overall, we were very satisfied.

The location is very nice. But prices are high and everything is self-service. Spundekäs doesn't come with any bread or rolls, you have to add it for an extra 2.90. Friendliness of the staff is also rather average. Small card.

I sat there today and was ignored. When I asked, I found out that you have to wait in line to order something. However, there were 4 people present who could have served around 20 guests. The faucet in the men's room was broken. There was a notice telling you to wash your hands upstairs. An employee then came in and informed me that it was only for the staff. The location is very nice and I've had a good meal there. I won't go there anymore. Such service and wines for over 6 euros is completely absurd.

Yesterday we were in this restaurant and I waited exactly 35 minutes for two cappuccinos at the self-service drinks counter (you pay in advance at another counter!). When I mentioned this issue at the issue I was greeted with "Boss?" harshly dismissed with the words "that's ok - it just can't get any better". Since I am a service provider myself, I find this appearance remarkable in a negative sense.

Top location, value for money is absolutely excessive despite the location. Food was fine, service was ok.

The restaurant has declined significantly. The chef should be fired in my opinion. The food is no longer what it was. Food is not seasoned, totally over salted and no longer edible. The price-performance ratio is an absolute disgrace. Paying a whopping 14 euros for a bratwurst with inadequate potato salad is embarrassing and completely excessive. A really great staff turned into grumpy people. We will not visit the restaurant again!!!

Located directly on the Rhine, the perfect stop after a walk through the beautiful old town of Eltville or along the towpath from Niederwalluf. Good food and great views over the river landscape. Update 2024: last but not least, the location is also very suitable for private celebrations on selected days, especially in the warm season.

Location! Location! Location! Sitting by the river at Eltville was what we had hoped for to have lunch and that is exactly what we got. The staff was exceptional, especially for a self-serve establishment for drinks and ordering the food, but they were still welcoming, warm, and helpful. The food was good as well, as was evident with the patrons who were there at the time.

Currywurst to unwind, wine from renowned wineries, a special place right on the Rhine. I haven't tried what the other food is like. I probably won't.

Very nicely located restaurant directly on the banks of the Rhine with specialties from the Rheingau, wine gaps and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The large open space with the riverside terrace invites you to linger. The food is good and the prices are reasonable for the waterfront. Unfortunately, only self-service is possible in this restaurant.

We were here for the first time with my grandparents as part of my grandpa's 80th birthday. We came across the restaurant/café by chance and were impressed by the ambience right on the water. The selection of food and drinks is good, unfortunately the staff is less than convincing. The gentleman who works outside was quite unfriendly and gave the impression that he was rather annoyed by his guests - a shame. The lady responsible for coffee and cake inside gave a similar impression, but was at least very helpful and friendly.

Ordered coffee with oat milk, at the end I saw the lumpy, moldy milk at the bottom. Instead of simply replacing my coffee at the bar and apologizing, I had to be told off that I wouldn't be back until I was halfway through drinking it. It's bad when the clumped milk sinks to the bottom and I unfortunately don't realize what I'm drinking until it's too late. Very lousy unprofessional behavior

Self-service with a bit of a wait. You sit very nicely! The food is also ok, but with vegetarian they can go one step further: Stuffed aubergine is not fully thought through, there is no spicy sauce, perhaps something with soy cream so that it is also vegan (without the cheese).

Wonderful location directly on the banks of the Rhine with the best view. Delicious food and very pleasant atmosphere.

Wir waren auf ein paar Getränke im ‚Anleger 511‘. Die Lage direkt am Rheinufer ist sehr gut und man hat einen tollen Blick. Die Getränke holt man sich selbst was final zu längeren Wartezeiten führen kann. Die Preise sind der Lage entsprechend. Kartenzahlung möglich.
