Where do I start? The food is average at best - there were much more authentic alternatives. 1. The bún bò Huế hue is not a bún bò Huế. There is no connection to Vietnam in terms of taste. A bit of bean sprouts and coriander suggest something Asian cuisine - but that's about it for the dish. Bánh quẩy (of which there is only one) is the only thing that stands out here, even though it is super heavy. 2. There is also no service to highlight here. Ordering takes place at the counter, and dishes are also picked up and delivered. Only the drinks are brought to the table, but without glasses that you can then get yourself. 3. Very small shop space inside with 1-2 tables too many, so you feel like you're in a can of sardines. 4. The toilet wasn't really clean and the floor was wet and sticky. It was on a Friday evening. All in all, for me this has little to do with VN cuisine. Otherwise, “Asian Fusion Kitchen” or something similar would be a better description for the restaurant.

An o ban is a very tasty Asian restaurant. Prices are a bit expensive, but you also get a fantastic taste experience! I would love to visit this restaurant again!

We were here for lunch and it was a really nice visit. It's really comfortable to sit there and just a pleasant atmosphere. The food isn't exactly cheap, but it's definitely worth the slightly higher price! It was extremely tasty, totally fresh and really large portions. I can only recommend everyone to take a detour here :)

You have to look very carefully on the online menu to see which options are vegan. Your award is not ideal. What's great, of course, is that you can order online from your table. The food was delicious, spicy is European spicy. So everyone can confidently order it. We'll definitely come back again.

Delicious food, decent portions, good value for money

Very nice Vietnamese restaurant with outdoor sitting possibilities. They do serve the Vietnamese Baguette, warm bowls and hot soups. Also spring and summer rolls. They have tiger beer and other non alcohol options as beverages. The stuff is super friendly. Definitely a recommendation. My favourites are the warm rice noodle bowls. Love it! Prices are fair! They accept credit card!

I was in the restaurant today and the atmosphere and the payment system were quite good, but unfortunately my food was lukewarm and even cold, so it was inedible, unfortunately the staff didn't offer me a new dish.

I had a glass noodle salad with beef for lunch this morning. The salad was fresh and just right for the warm weather. Really good value for money too. The service was also super friendly and the food was ready to take away in 10 minutes. All in all I have nothing to complain about. Would like to give more stars. Update 2024: It's been a while since I've been to An O'ban during my lunch break to try out the Banh Mi (Vietnamese baguettes). I had the version with lemongrass pork. The meat was absolutely tender, the vegetables were fresh, the baguette was still crispy and the sauce was also very good. I can also highly recommend this. The employees were very friendly and, upon request, they packed the baguette twice because I was still carrying it in my backpack and was worried about liquids. It's also worth mentioning that I received my baguette ready and freshly made in my hand 5 minutes after ordering.

I have been a regular customer for eight years and always enjoy coming back! For me, the food is the perfect mix of authentic Vietnamese street food, adapted to the European palate. The menu is relatively small, but also offers enough options for vegetarians and vegans, for example. There is also an ever-changing monthly dish. The team is always super friendly and warm. The ambience is like a Vietnamese street food restaurant and therefore doesn't invite you to linger for long, but is perfect for a quick lunch/dinner, date or similar. I think it's great - please keep it up! :-)

I was there with a friend this evening and we really enjoyed it. We both had vegetarian dishes. The service was super friendly and catered to all requests even though it was busy. We went home with a smile :)

First of all, their chopsticks are the worsssssttt. Do not pick those tiny veggies so well and give the hardest time to eat. I liked the portion of vegetables and sauce but the bowl is just sauced noodle with some salad on the top. I expected something more asian dish. I think it's a healthy option though.

Unfortunately, the summer roll tastes like absolutely nothing - modern cuisine or not. Sorry, but I couldn't find anything positive during my visit. Maybe gain a few more years of experience?

Nice shop where you can sit outside. The warm rice noodle dish with vegetables and tofu was ok, but not a highlight in terms of taste. I think it's too expensive for that, especially since there is no offer with cheaper prices at lunchtime. It took a relatively long time for the food to arrive.

I don't know if we were just unlucky today, but after having to wait 1 hour for our drink and another 40 minutes for the food, it was rather disappointing; Without exception, every table around us had waited at least as long as we did and yet there was no apology/explanation from the (nevertheless lovely!) staff. Next time, just buy a drink on the house or something similar instead of complaining about poor service and lukewarm food; Otherwise it's definitely a cute restaurant

We had the rice noodle salad for around 15 euros per person. Unfortunately the noodles were sticky and hard (not cooked long enough). The sauce was bland and the vegetables were almost frozen. The employees were nice. We were very disappointed.

Small nice restaurant with delicious dishes. The food is ordered using a QR code and paid for directly; you pick it up yourself at the counter.

The food here is really excellent! Everything was very fresh and tasty, friendly service too. I'm very sorry to deduct a star, but the card system is just stupid. You have to scan a QR code with your cell phone to open the card. You don't have normal tickets to look at the food in a relaxed manner. If there were both options, it would be better! Normally I give 5 stars when the food is that good, but the card system clearly bothers me. For me this has nothing to do with practical modernity and is unfortunately really unnecessary.

Small shop, a bit cramped. Apart from the benches on the wall side, there are only small stools to sit on. It doesn't invite you to sit for long periods of time. Order via QR code or at the counter. In particular, ordering via the QR code didn't work particularly well for our group. Some payment functions didn't work. In some cases, orders that were sent did not go through. Service was friendly and attentive. Food tasted good. Price performance ratio is good. However, the restaurant is not designed for a cozy, relaxed evening.

This small but very good restaurant has excellent food and traditional dishes. The noodle soup tasted a bit too watery but the banh mi and fresh tea were great. Perfect for lunch or after work, but also as a date spot to get to know each other.

Deductions for - sitting uncomfortably and having to pick up your food at the counter yourself... You will be compensated for this at the latest when you eat. Not an original - just an interpretation of Vietnamese food - but still a culinary delight. Absolutely outstanding taste!!!! Unfortunately I can't give more than 5 stars for the food. TOP!!! :-)

Unfortunately, I can't understand the many positive reviews at all, it seems as if most of them rate according to the motto - the one-eyed man is the king among the blind. - which means as much as there are hardly any other references that bring really authentic Vietnamese dishes to the table and at a good price-performance ratio! The Banh Mi is 3€ more expensive than most of the ones available in Frankfurt and not nearly as good! Eat where the locals eat - where Vietnamese go to eat, you can confidently go there - Conclusion: too expensive, below average taste, portions too small. No recommendation ! But if you want to try something different, I recommend the Kyo in Frankfurt - authentic and full of Vietnamese!

Habe heute hier sehr lecker gegessen: Pho bo. Kann ich empfehlen.

Als Kunde der ersten Stunde habe ich seit Eröffnung unzählige Male hier gegessen. Egal ob zum Mitnehmen oder vor Ort, Frühlings- oder Sommerrollen, Banh Mi, Pho, Bun Bo Nam Bo, Glasnudelsalat oder was auch immer - das Team hat es geschafft einen Gastrobetrieb auf die Beine zu stellen, der aus der Mainzer Kulinarik nicht mehr wegzudenken isst. Subjektiv empfunden würde ich sagen, dass man hier den perfekten Spagat aus sophisticated street food und vietnamesischer fusion cuisine bekommt. Ich vermeide bewusst das Wort “authentisch”, weil das im Volksmund inflationär und sehr subjektiv gebraucht wird. Unterm Strich schmeckt das Essen in 99% der Fälle großartig, und die Preise haben sich in den letzten Jahren trotz gestiegener Kosten, Personalmangels und Inflation moderat entwickelt. Der Aufschlag der bei Lieferando erhoben wird ist in meinen Augen hoch, aber nachvollziehbar - die große Beliebtheit des Restaurants sorgt zu den Stoßzeiten auch ohne die Lieferanfragen für Auslastung in der Küche. Nach meiner Erfahrung sind lediglich die Frühlingsrollen hit or miss und waren gefühlt früher besser. Und ich kann bis heute nicht verstehen, warum das BBQ-Pork-Baguette durch das Lemongrass Pork ersetzt wurde - Insider munkeln es hätte nicht so viele Fans gegeben. Die Positionierung des Essens als mix zwischen Restaurant und Street Food spiegelt sich auch im innen- und Aussenbereich wieder: die Tische und Stühle laden nicht zum langen verweilen ein - manche würden das negativ bewerten, ich sehe das neutral. Wartezeiten sind zu Stoßzeiten im Bereich 25-30 Minuten. Wenn man unmittelbar um 12 oder außerhalb der Lunch / Dinner-Zeiten bestellt geht’s auch mal deutlich schneller. Das personal ist IMMER enorm freundlich und Word dem Namen des Restaurants gerecht. Wenn einen der Chef irgendwo in der Stadt sieht wird man freundlich gegrüßt. Meine Empfehlung: wenn ihr mit dem Erlebnis unzufrieden seid, kommt an einem anderen Tag wieder. Ihr habt wahrscheinlich nur mal einen der ganz wenigen schlechten Tage erwischt. Klare Empfehlung.

Die Pho Bo ist wirklich gut und auch die Rollen Frühling und Sommer sind zu empfehlen.

I had a beef noodle salad, the beef was cold, like coming straight from the refridgerator. It also tasted like it was not very fresh, like the beef was not cokked today. The noodles was greasy and lackning of flavour and the pickles where too sweet, and not sour. And my friend gad a tom soup with all the noodles stickning together in a big lump. I am very sorry for a harsh review, but probably there are some things you need to look over in the kitchen, because the quality of food is lackning. Hope you guys figure out soon .. Extra comments: reply Dear restaurant The pickled radish and carrot, lacked acidity, as one would expect from a pickled vegetable. It was very sugary. I comment on this since a pickled vegetable requires the right amount of acidity to remain pickled. Also it was a too sweet flavour. Concerning the nuoc mam sauce it lacked flavour, making the whole salad very bland. And that in a combination to the fat was very unpleasant. Regarding the refridgerated meat, I question its freshness, even before cooking sice it tasted too old. We ate dinner in the restaurant so the lump of noodles my friend had for her bun bo hue, I would argue is for a restaurant of your ambition lackning. The broth was also very watery. I am very sorry to give you this critique, but I hope it will help you to look over what is not living up to standard. And I would hope you would like to take that seriously. Das Essen ist top, der beste, authentische Vietnamese in Mainz und Umgebung. Es ist zwar etwas beengt, aber das ist ok.

Food is not really authentic, the Pho lacks taste, the bun bo hue was served with the wrong noodles. The soup was lukewarm so the meat was still rather raw and chewy. Maybe suitable for western customers, but surely disappointing for Asians. The meal was rather expensive. The service was alright, though. Still, no recommendation.

Die Vorspeisen waren wirklich überragend, aber auch sehr teuer. Die Hauptgerichte waren natürlich nicht schlecht, aber jetzt auch nicht wirklich überzeugend. Da hatte ich von den Bewertungen her schon deutlich mehr erhofft.

Super schöner und gemütlicher kleiner Laden. Das Ambiente ist sehr schlicht gehalten, was zum Essen auch passt, da es authentisches Streetfood ist. Das Essen war sehr lecker und habe mich wie in Vietnam gefühlt. Das Team ist einfach nur toll, man merkt das Sie das gerne machen und die zwei Brüder arbeiten da mit Herzblut. Ich war das erste mal da und werde auch definitiv wieder kommen und auch im anderen Restaurant nanami poke reinschnuppern . Vielen Dank an das gesamte Team für den tollen Abschluss meines Abends.

Das Essen ist lecker. Leider sehr lange Wartezeit (über 1h) und dreckige Tische die über den gesamten Aufenthalt mit Geschirr vollgestellt sind.

Das Essen hat nichts mit vietnamesischer Küche zu tun. Einfallslos und geschmacksleer.

10€ für 2 Baguette sind schon hart. Dazu bereiteten mir die 10€ nicht nur Kopfschmerzen sondern auch im Nachhinein Bauchschmerzen.

Originelles Vietnam-Restaurant, leckeres Essen, alles frisch und nette Bedienung. Man sitzt nicht sehr bequem und es ist etwas eng, aber es geht ja ums Essen und das ist super.

Sonst immer das Banh Mi genommen, das ist super. Die Pho Bo die angeblich 10 Stunden gekocht hat war geschmacklich und vom Inhalt eher enttäuschend, vor allem bei einem Preis von um 17 Euro. Nicht schlecht aber steht einfach in keinem Verhältnis.

Das Essen ist sehr lecker und frisch. Schmeckt sehr authentisch. Preise sind ok (die Sommerrollen sind etwas teuer). Ich kann jedoch nur 4/5 Sterne geben, da der Innenraum ziemlich eng ist und man nichtmal seine Jacken ablegen kann. Ich empfehle eine Reservierung sonst muss man leider warten.

Wow, die Jungs und Mädels von Ano Ban machen einen fantastischen Job. Das Essen ist von höchster Qualität und geschmacklich ganz hervorragend. Weiter so in auf jeden Fall auch auch den neuen Poke-Laden um die Ecke ausprobieren !!

Das Lokal "An o Ban" in der Mainzer Neustadt gehört zu einem meiner Lieblingsrestaurants. Alle Speisen werden stets frisch und selbst zubereitet und sind unglaublich schmackhaft. Die Karte ist nicht sonderlich groß, aber sowohl Veganer/Vegetarier, als auch Fleischesser kommen hier definitiv auf ihren Geschmack. Besonderes zu empfehlen sind bei den Vorspeisen die Sommerrollen, sowie die selbstgemachten Frühlingsrollen. Falls jemand eine wirklich gute Pho essen möchte, kann ich die Variationen hier nur empfehlen. Es wäre übrigens toll, wenn ihr die vegane Variante dauerhaft auf die Karte aufnehmen könntet. :-) Preislich ist An o Ban wirklich absolut in Ordnung, wir kommen immer wieder gerne hier her und genießen das gute Essen!
