Beautifully located, very quiet. Outside, you have direct views of the greenery. The food is very good and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Whether outside or in the cozy restaurant, you can eat very tasty there! Every dish you choose from the extensive menu is delicious. Great seasonal dishes are often offered on an additional menu (asparagus, game, etc.). The two ladies of the house serve with love, are nice, quick and try to fulfill every wish of the guest. Since the delicious Stauder-Pils is now available there, everything has been perfect!

I always enjoy enjoying food and drinks in a harmonious, cozy atmosphere. Very friendly owners, great cook. A restaurant where it is not as loud as is usual today. My intolerances and associated special requests could always be taken into account. In summer, enjoying outside is an additional highlight. I now feel like I'm coming home for dinner. Thank you for that. Yes, when it comes to prices, I can say that it is actually more expensive in the north of Essen.

The portions are generous and really big Unfortunately, the operation doesn't really make an ambitious impression but rather looks very listless and annoyed but that's really the only thing I have to complain about

Super friendly staff, delicious rustic Balkan cuisine. The only thing you can accuse the restaurant of is that they process you a little too quickly! Actually, I go out to eat to take it easy. If you don't intentionally take your time making the selection, it can happen that everything is done after half an hour! Works like an assembly line! Starters bread with herb butter eaten - Zack starters salad - eaten - Zack main course! Taking things a little easier helps😉 Update January 2025. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities are in poor condition, e.g. moldy silicone joint on the sink, broken urinal, everything looks like it did on the first day over 30 years ago when I was there for the first time. Hence 1 star deduction.

Great place with a rustic atmosphere and consistently extremely high quality food. It's not just fans of Balkan cuisine that are offered something here. The extensive menu is a journey across the globe and is very varied. From fish to meat and vegetables to delicious desserts, everything is available here. The food is always freshly cooked and served at appropriate times. Long waiting times have not yet occurred, even when the restaurant is completely booked. All dishes are always served together and in one go. This speaks for the organization in the kitchen. Last but not least, the service from Estella and her mother Michaela deserves an extra point. He is quick, precise and humorous. Just what you want for a successful gourmet evening. For fans of a good beer, the freshly tapped Pilsener Urquell is a real treat for the palate. If you would like to experience all of this live, I can warmly recommend a visit to Mühlenbach.

The food is just great. Be it steak or grilled dishes, schnitzel or other diverse dishes, it's simply delicious and cheap. I really enjoy eating there often and can only recommend it.

We ate there for the first time with my husband and we loved it. Service was great and even when there was a lot going on, people always paid attention. The atmosphere was also cozy. Old fashioned furnishings but I personally think it just has style. The food was great, especially the meat!

We were able to sit outside for lunch. The service was very attentive, the food was really tasty and there was a large portion for lunch with starter soup and ice cream with cream as dessert. A very nice atmosphere both inside and outside. Everything was perfect all around! We'll definitely be back!

Mega delicious food, humane prices, great service but the inside is dark and stuffy. That's the shortcoming.

Friends guided us here, we didn't even know it. We were very satisfied, were there at lunchtime and were surprised by the great lunch menus, especially the moderate price. We booked a table again for next weekend, but in the evening and with friends who don't know it yet.

I only give this one star because zero stars is not possible. I can't say anything about the food because it never got to that point. We felt our group wasn't large enough to be catered for. We were looking for a restaurant for 15-20 people for a party after a funeral. The location and the restaurant itself would have been great. But after I described how big the group would be (in three weeks!), there were only excuses. It would be difficult to accommodate people, shopping would have to be planned differently - and other nonsense. When we asked if we could sit outside (space for 20 people is available inside and outside), we just said that the weather in Germany could be bad. The lady who “advised” us obviously has no problem with guests no longer coming to Mühlenbach. I'll just walk past there. Finally, another restaurant hosted our company - and to our complete satisfaction. One star for the inhospitality and driving away the guests.

The food is definitely overpriced for the quality. Adjusting the prices from 2023 to 2024 by 6 to 7 euros is absolutely not justified for this meal. Furniture is pretty old.

Rustic atmosphere, great service and absolutely humane prices. It was our first time in the restaurant and we were more than satisfied. The service was very friendly and attentive, the steak was cooked to perfection and everything at a price that you can't fault at all. We will definitely eat there again.

We were there for the first time with eleven people on Tuesday. We had reserved in advance and everything was well prepared, we celebrated my mother's birthday there. The service team did a very good job. The quality of the food was very good. The fact that the toilets are at ground level and that it is no problem for older people to get there is also very good. Since it was very full, it didn't matter to wait a few minutes for the drink service. Many thanks to the entire team, and explicitly again for disposing of the leftover wrapping paper for us. We were completely satisfied and would be happy to come back and look forward to the warm season and the outdoor terrace. Top, and highly recommended.

Können wir nur empfehlen. Wir haben ein Lokal in der Nähe der Uniklinik Essen gesucht und gehen dort essen, wenn Termine in der Klinik anstehen. Gut bürgerliche Küche und sehr lecker.

So unfreundlich hab ich es noch nie erlebt. Essen ging auch wenn ich gedacht hätte mehr frische Lebensmittel als aus der Dose. FÜR Vegetarier überhaupt nicht geeignet laut Karte zumindest 3 Gerichte nirgendwo stand das es zu Weihnachten im Prinzip gar nichts gab, man hat auf die schnelle Reis mit Tomatensosse und Gemüse zusammen geschüttet. Sehr traurig. Mann hatte das Gefühl das die Leute völlig überfordert war . Bei einigen Gerichten wurde dann Fleisch im Nachgang auf den Teller gebracht, eine Imbissbude hat mehr Niveau. Waren das erste und letzte mal da, es kam keine Entschuldigung nichts. Der Eindruck den man am Anfang bekommen hatte waren 25 min früher das , da wurde man schon angezicht dauert noch 30 min sie haben erst in einer halben Stunde den Tisch wohlgemerkt wir kamen von überall her und mit klein Kindern hat sich bis zum Schluss leider so weiter gezogen.

Besonders die große Menge an Fleisch mit relativ wenig Sättigungsbeilagen hat uns positiv überrascht. Wir waren alle begeistert. Kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Etwas in die Jahre gekommene Inneneinrichtung, könnte eine Auffrischung gebrauchen und vor allem etwas heller werden. Sehr nette Bedienung und das Essen war auch OK. Bei der Speisekarte könnte man sich auch mal was neues überlegen.

Von dem letzten Besuch war ich sehr enttäuscht. Bestellt haben wir die Wildplatte. Nachdem ich dann auf die zweite Schrotkugel gebissen habe, ist mir der Appetit doch etwas vergangen. Auf Anfrage beim Personal, warum man da nicht mal eine Vorwarnung bekommen kann bzw. einen Ersatz ohne Schrot, kam nur ein müdes Achselzucken und der Hinweis, dass so etwas passieren kann. Das kann sein, aber ich find das schon gefährlich. Wie gesagt, sehr enttäuschend und die nächste Familienfeier wird woanders stattfinden.
