Very nice and delicious lunch menu, I'm always happy to come back. Another special feature is that they serve Nordberliner Pils, which is highly recommended.

Not a restaurant, but more of a pub, but that's not meant to be derogatory. The food was very good, no pre-battered schnitzels, generous portions, tasty. And all at a very reasonable price. We'd be happy to come back.

Anyone who enjoys spending their evening under video surveillance should definitely visit the Altstadtklause. The food and service were okay, but not quite up to the mark. The food was served quickly. For dessert, we weren't told until we got to our table that they were unfortunately out of whipped cream. It wouldn't have been a problem if it had been mentioned beforehand. It only became a problem when the full amount for dessert was added to the bill. It's a shame; we had hoped for more from this evening.

Unfortunately, it doesn't taste good anymore.

This was our first and last visit. The waitress, a young lady, was unbearable. She was unfriendly and in a bad mood. The tone she used to speak to us was unacceptable. On top of that, the pork knuckle was completely oversalted, as were the potatoes. It was absolutely inedible. Through a small hatch, you could see into the kitchen...it made you feel completely different. Everything was handled with your hands. You wiped your hands on your trousers and carried on. The sauerkraut came out of the microwave and was transferred from the bowl to the plate with your hands. It was very disappointing.

Very satisfied, would definitely go back. The food was incredibly delicious, and the service was very friendly and attentive.

I waited half an hour for drinks and kept asking for them. The waitress was noticeably unwilling to serve. Hopefully the food is better than the first impression.

Mainly freshly pounded schnitzel dishes - highly recommended

Cozy, great value for money, and incredibly large portions. And incredibly delicious. Above all, it's very child-friendly. Five years after my first review, the owner has changed, and the food is still top-notch. We celebrated my child's confirmation here; everything was fantastic, from the food to the ambiance.

We only ended up there because of the Andechser beer advertisement outside. I love all the varieties from this brewery. The trip was worth it: delicious food, Andechser Hell on tap and other varieties by the bottle, friendly service, a quaint restaurant, dogs welcome. Overall, highly recommended.

As Berlin tourists, we ventured out a bit with the S-Bahn and were able to taste a very tasty schnitzel with fried potatoes and salad at a very reasonable price. The staff was very friendly, we were served attentively and had our meals at the table very quickly.

Was there spontaneously today with 2 friends. Service was extremely friendly and always asked if you needed anything else. Two things from the menu that we wanted weren't there, but that sort of thing happens sometimes. There were enough alternatives for that. Of course the food was also really tasty. The food was in good portions, Schnitzel ou four and Schnitzel Hamburger style, both of which were poorly fried, the breading barely showed any brownish color. The Ou Four was actually inedible in taste (indefinable taste) and didn't deserve the name. In contrast to all the neighboring tables, there was no question from the service when a very large part of the ou four was returned. Unfortunately no recommendation

Went to our old pub again. It still looks the same as it did thirty years ago. Come again.

9 people ate there on Saturday evening. The food was good, there were many different types of schnitzel. The service was slightly overwhelmed, our food came after an hour, one meal was wrong, it came later. As far as the ambience is concerned, I think time has stood still, except for the prices. There is rubbish in many corners, and there is a small office to the left of the cash register. Maybe something should be done regarding the ambience...I think then it can be really cozy.

Good restaurant, friendly staff but only speaks German. The dishes are rich and good. I recommend.

Hello dear Altstadtklause. We can spend our Christmas party with you today. Overall we had a great evening. Food was very good. Some just thought the red cabbage was a bit sour and the sauce for the duck could have been a bit stronger. But otherwise there was nothing to complain about about the food. Unfortunately there is only one thing to “complain” about the service. Of course Friday evenings are always full. There were 28 of us and there were also a few guests during the operation. At the beginning it worked well with the drink order, but then unfortunately it didn't work anymore. We had to wait a long time until someone came so we could order something to drink. Some then went to the counter and ordered. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way. The waiters were super friendly. Unfortunately, we felt a bit “forgotten” at times. It was always cleared away and said we would come straight away to take the drink order, but no one came. Only upon request. Overall it was a great evening. Many kind regards Jennifer

I was there today for the first time in 27 years. At that time I did my student internship there. We were warmly welcomed and we were able to choose a place. Our order was taken quickly and friendly. The food was very tasty and I think it was really good prices. We were very satisfied and will definitely come back.

After visiting the castle, we were looking for good home cooking... The Altstadtklause was a total hit. The menu offers a good selection, my wife and the kids were immediately able to discover something for themselves. The service was super friendly. The atmosphere had a nice pub charm, which we really liked. We all decided on schnitzel, in different variations. It tasted really great. We would have liked to have another dessert, which looked great on the menu, but we were just too full and satisfied. A quick chat with the waitress revealed that the schnitzels are freshly cut every day. You can taste it!!!! It doesn't always have to be fine dining, the traditional German pub shows its best side here... Thanks for the great lunch. Gladly again when the opportunity arises!!!

We were able to hold the funeral service for my unexpectedly deceased father in the Altstadtklause at relatively short notice. The owner, Mr. Wittstock, spontaneously and warmly advised us on how to implement this and gave us great support in choosing the food and drinks. The implementation and design of the room, as well as the lovingly prepared food, were absolutely suitable for the event. We would like to thank you and your team again for your support and efforts!

A top price-performance ratio and quality too! These have recently become increasingly rare in the catering industry. Everything was given here! Please everyone eat there diligently so that such a hermitage can be preserved!

We had a private school commencement party at the weekend and chose the old town klause's home-style menu. We selected: Kasseler with sauerkraut, schnitzel, potato gratain, cold fried meatballs, mixed salad and a fruit and vegetable platter. The food was delivered to the front door as agreed. The Kasseler was very tender, the homemade meatballs were successful and the potato gratain was very creamy. The quantity was generous and the quality of the food offered no cause for complaint. Not too bland and not too spicy, just right. And that for an unbeatable price/performance ratio! Thanks to the entire team, keep it up & see you again soon!

We have been here several times now and have been very satisfied each time. They still exist - restaurants with home-style cuisine. It's really great that Adrian Wittstock took over this restaurant and saved it from closure. The prices for the various dishes are reasonable, the portion sizes are optimal for those who are very hungry and they are lovingly prepared. The North Berlin Pilsner was a pleasant discovery for us. We'd love to come back.

We ate there for the first time today. I can recommend it without hesitation. Ambience very appealing. The waiter and boss were very attentive and friendly. Restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. The food is great. As a starter I had a solyanka for 4.80. It was very tasty and a really big portion for an appetizer. For the main course I had schnitzel with 2 fried eggs and fried potatoes. Schnitzel nice and tender and fried potatoes homemade and also highly recommended. The main course for just under 16 euros is almost too cheap given the portion size and, as I said, the taste is great. We'll definitely be back

We haven't been this disappointed in a long time. The solyanka was served without bread and without creme fraiche. We didn't think anything of it at first, but it was lukewarm and tasted so bad that we couldn't eat it and gave it back immediately. The farmer's breakfast consisted of unpeeled potatoes and was almost unseasoned. When we asked for salt, the waiter picked up the salt from an occupied table next door after asking the other guests if that was okay. The schnitzel au four tasted like it was already breaded and the seasoned meat on top certainly came from a can. This was topped with unsalted fries. The waiters seem untrained and awkward. Our conclusion: we think it's such a shame that the restaurant has changed for the worse since the change of ownership, because the food used to be excellent and we enjoyed coming. Now we won't come back again.

So you have food for less money but also for around 18 euros. But then with good asparagus and fresh schnitzel. You take care of the guest and are polite. Stews are also tasty. There is always a changing weekly offer in addition. LG

I don't understand the other reviews. The waiter has no idea what ingredients are in the food. So I received a goulash soup with mushrooms, even though I asked beforehand whether it contained mushrooms and was told no. The answer I got as an apology was that the waiter hadn't cooked the food. For the main course I ordered the pork knuckle, but I got more bones and fat than anything else. Tasteless sauerkraut was served with it. At least the waiter didn't ask how it tasted when he cleared the almost full plate. Also, sometimes the waiter couldn't take all the drink orders at the same time because there were other guests in the store. I think there were four or five tables with two people each. You can tell that no one there put their heart and soul into it. I would visit two or three similar restaurants with my staff to maybe get a few impressions.

Nothing has changed in the rooms. The old white sausage pot is still there as a decoration. Unfortunately, the food didn't convince us. The schnitzel was pounded so thin that it looked like a molded schnitzel and a farmer's breakfast with halved triplets without bacon and onions raised question marks. Not everyone likes potatoes with their skins on. We used to love coming here. Maybe a little change would have been good.

Absolutely great taste, the finest beer but still a smooth composition. A pure pleasure. For me it's basically on the same level as crack. Not that I know how crack hits. But it can hardly be better than this beer.

We were the only ones in the establishment and despite the language barrier, the waiter really tried. The beer was very tasty and the schnitzel was one of the best in my life, but inside the establishment there was an unpleasant smell of oil and we were served a salad of unpeeled carrots. I don't consider chopped dirty carrots to be a salad 🤣🤣 I think they can do better and I hope they fix it, because everything else is great.

First of all we would like to praise the incredibly nice service!!! The owner of the house was also very friendly and, above all, loved children :) … The ability to order a large bottle of Cola/Fanta etc is also really great!! The food was ok.. we all had schnitzel with fried potatoes and 1x fries with nuggets for the child! Unfortunately the fried potatoes weren't to our liking at all... made from triplets with peel :( maybe great for rosemary potatoes but a fried potato has to be crispy from the pan.. Unfortunately, the schnitzel was different from the breading of the nuggets (which, like the schnitzels, were homemade), but the schnitzel breading was also soft and the nuggets were crispy and delicious 😋 Unfortunately, the fries weren't crispy either. The taste itself was good and the price was also great for the portions 👍🏻

Dinner in the Altstadtklause was delicious. The pork knuckle and the Hamburger schnitzel were excellently prepared and tasted excellent. The pub exudes a down-to-earth and cozy atmosphere, which made the evening particularly pleasant. The owner was very nice and obviously quality conscious.
