We ordered our wedding food from Posthaus, and it was absolutely fantastic! It was delivered on time (and piping hot), the staff were very reliable, and they set up the catering beautifully. They even picked up the food from Posthaus themselves – a one-hour drive! All in all, simply perfect service. We'd gladly order from them again!

Unfortunately, the AfD is renting out rooms for an event. What a shame! I hope that the Alte Posthaus Ahlhorn will reconsider and withdraw from the rental agreement with the AfD for important reasons (political integrity, ethics, morality).

This inn regularly hosts events organized by the AfD (Alternative for Germany party) – for me, that's an absolute reason not to spend any money there!!!

Disaster. The food is dark brown and tastes like blue dirt.

Brown soup and blue garbage seem to be at the top of the menu. Not recommended! The owner should really think about what he's offering his guests.

We would have gladly given 5 stars for the hospitality and food. The service was excellent and the food very good. All the parking spaces in front of the old post office were occupied, so we had to park in the back. The parking lot was a disaster. It was muddy, covered, and all the holes were filled with water. On top of that, the parking lot lighting was very poor. Our shoes had to be thoroughly cleaned after our visit. Under these conditions, we won't be returning. Therefore, only 2 stars.

Yesterday, I ate at the Altes Posthaus with my companion and was unfortunately very disappointed. I've visited the restaurant several times in the past and was always thrilled – the food was truly outstanding. This time, I ordered a vegetable stir-fry, which was, however, heavily coated in fat, and an entrecôte steak served on a hot stone. I like the idea itself, as the dish is cooked so fresh at the table. Unfortunately, the execution was disappointing: The steak splattered so much while sizzling that my clothes got completely dirty. They used to provide large napkins for protection, but unfortunately, not this time. When I asked them, they simply said they had "never heard of this problem" – which I find hard to imagine. The quality of the meat was also disappointing: very gristly and excessively fatty. Overall, the visit was unfortunately not what I was used to from my previous, much better experiences at the Altes Posthaus. I sincerely hope that the restaurant will return to the quality that once distinguished it.

We often eat here. The food on the menu is delicious. The service is always friendly. We've also had lunch before and have always been very satisfied. This time we had lunch for 11 people (three of whom had the menu and four had children's meals, which were excellent). This time it was very limited: a very small chicken fillet with fries. And the other time, two small pork loins with fries... (Soup and dessert were excellent). The previous times, there were always two or three pieces... but otherwise, everything was great. 👍🏻

We came across this restaurant through the barometer and wanted to try it out. I have to say, it was worth it. The food was delicious, the service was first-class, and the ambiance had a touch of a museum village. We found it very cozy and will definitely be back.

We came to this restaurant through the Barometer magazine and had a very good meal there. The staff (Laura) was very friendly and accommodating. The food is freshly prepared, and the value for money is very good.

The service and advice, with their competence and friendly manner, scored highly with us. Everything was top-notch. Both ladies should get a raise of at least 25%. The kitchen should have some training in Mediterranean cuisine. Sauces are too thick, vegetables are still raw, without any roasted flavors. That's called raw food and not Mediterranean vegetables. I have no idea why the place is so popular. The only thing that's good is the selection of whiskeys and, 100%, the waitresses who were there today on September 6, 2025. Best regards

We happened to be passing by and had a delicious meal there. Outside under the parasol, from the starter to the main course and the nightstand, there was nothing to complain about. It was simply a nice change of pace and tasted delicious.

We had lunch at the Altes Posthaus today. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. Shirin and Mercedes' hospitality deserves special mention. Even with a few grumblers who were trying to find fault, they were able to professionally counteract the situation. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend the restaurant. ♥️

We were there today and received a very friendly welcome. The food was truly delicious, and the waitresses, Shirin and Mercedes, were extremely accommodating. There were some very unfriendly guests there who were constantly complaining and ranting (moaning) loudly, and unjustly so! These guests were complaining so loudly that all the customers could hear them. But Shirin and Mercedes remained calm and friendly. They even repeatedly asked if there was anything else they could do for the guests, even though they didn't stop their insults. I admire their calmness and patience. These guests wouldn't have done that to me. Thank you so much for a super great day. We'll be back.

Very good food, focused on home cooking. The plates are very generously filled for the prices, which are within the normal range. I regularly eat here with friends and acquaintances. The atmosphere is cozy: old German, rustic furnishings. The service staff is attentive, friendly and quick. Regarding the food, I can say that it was fairly priced and always very tasty. The portions are also filling and beautifully prepared. There are plenty of parking spaces and the outdoor area is also an inviting place to linger. Please keep it up and stay with Ahlhorn for a long time! :)

We ate at the Altes Posthaus on a Saturday evening with 6 people. The service was very courteous and friendly. The food was also very good. What did bother us, however, after all the guests had left at 8:15 p.m. except for our table and another table, people were working so loudly in the kitchen that we were hardly able to converse.
