A truly great German restaurant! The large beer garden with its shady chestnut trees is particularly beautiful – the perfect place to sit and enjoy, especially on warm days. The atmosphere is cozy and you immediately feel at home. The staff is friendly and attentive, making your visit a complete pleasure. The food is also great: traditional, fresh, and truly delicious. My personal favorite is the small roast beef with onions and spaetzle – perfectly prepared every time and simply delicious. For me, it's a place I'd love to return to again and again – highly recommended!

Disappointing for vegans - unfortunately, no reliability I had been assured twice by phone in advance that there would be a suitable dish for me as a vegan. However, when I arrived, the waitress shook her head and told me I should just have spaetzle with lentils. When I pointed out that spaetzle are generally not vegan, I received the rude reply: "Well, then just have lentils with vegetables." I think it's a shame that, despite prior arrangement, there was no genuine vegan option available, and especially that the response was so lacking in understanding and friendliness. Anyone who values reliability, communication, and a plant-based diet should think carefully about whether to eat here.

In summer, under the pleasantly shady chestnut trees in the courtyard, or in cooler temperatures in the lovingly decorated parlor, the old rectory impresses with its cozy ambiance. Idyllically located, tucked away in a side courtyard, it offers the opportunity for a short break from the hectic city life. The prices are absolutely justified given the quality; the food is well-seasoned, beautifully presented, and the portions are generous! There's also a small but fine selection for vegetarians (like me) :)) But what I liked best was the service. Very friendly staff, attentive, and very reliable! We really enjoyed it, and it's a regular spot that provides us with an unforgettable evening. Thank you very much!

Der schattige Innenhof ist sehr schön. Mein Essen war ok ich hatte aber auch nur etwas Hausmannskost. Ich denke man kann da auch lecker esen wenn man etwas teureres isst. Oddnungszeiten sind etwas schade aber verständlich da es im Ort liegt wegen den Anwohnern.

The shady courtyard is very nice. My meal was okay, but I only had some home-style cooking. I think you can still get a good meal there if you go for something more expensive. The opening hours are a bit of a shame, but understandable, given that it's located in the village and the residents.

At over 30 Graf, you can sit in the Kastanienhof beer garden for lunch in the perfect shade and coolness. The service is super fast and friendly, and the food justifies the prices. Restrooms are located in the basement and are shared with the moth trap; a baby changing table is also available. Highly recommended, especially for dining on hot days.

Sehr schöner Biergarten und location. Das Essen war unter Durchschntt. Kleine Portionen, einfallslos und lieblos angerichtet. Wir waren früher öfters hier, das essen WAR unter ehemaligen Besitzern sehr gut. Nun aber- salopp ausgedrückt- weniger als mittelmäßig. schade. One small disappointment was the communication with the service staff: There were language misunderstandings both during the reservation and when ordering, which required some patience. Nevertheless, the staff were attentive and friendly. All in all, a great experience that we would happily recommend – with a small warning about possible language barriers.

Hidden 😶‍🌫️ but it is one of the gourmet temples in Pforzheim👌 when it comes to good, home-style cooking👍 I had a special request, I absolutely wanted salmon with asparagus :) the result, it was done! And the taste was fantastic🙏🙏🙏 Great outdoor terrace, great kitchen, great people, what more could you want in this beautiful weather? The restaurant is located in a secret backyard, not easy to see :))) I'm happy that I found you🙏 The waiter who served me was extremely nice and friendly, the only hitch? The panna cotta dessert wasn't the best😂😂😂 next time please present the panna cotta better 🙈🤣 otherwise you are TOP 👍 The price was also ok 👌

Very nice atmosphere, you feel like you're in the living room! Food was very good and the price was right too! Service was nice but a bit uncertain, room for improvement.

We were there for dinner. It was really well attended. There was hardly any space available. I would have estimated the average age that evening to be over 60. We had already reserved 3 weeks in advance but unfortunately we still didn't get a really good place. Above all, the comfort of the seating left a lot to be desired. The food was delivered to the table quite quickly but was not perceived by everyone as very good. Everyone went in the direction of good canteen cuisine. There are also better fries in the outdoor pool and most sports restaurants make the schnitzel and roast better and cheaper. So price-performance doesn't suit me. I suspect the restaurant benefits greatly from its good location and history. Very popular especially as a meeting place for older people. Foodies should try their luck elsewhere.

Update December 2024: We tried it again and the portions were actually bigger, everyone went home full. I haven't eaten such a good schnitzel in a long time, very good quality! We were in the beer garden. The place is beautiful and nice and shady with the trees in summer. The waitresses were very friendly and the food was really tasty. Unfortunately, the portion sizes have become extremely small and some have gone home hungry. You should definitely think about this again and adjust.

Wir waren heute nach dem Besuch im Gasometer kurzentschlossen im Alten Pfarrhaus Kastanienhof in Pforzheim und wurden mehr als positiv überrascht. Der Gastraum ist gemütlich und hat was von Omas Wohnzimmer. Der Empfang war sehr freundlich. Der Wirt (2 Brüder) war sehr sehr nett und wir hatten ein tolles Gespräch. Die Brüder haben das Restaurant Februar 2023 von den alten Wirtsleuten nach über 40 Jahren übernommen. Da sie die Karte und die Gerichte für die Stammkunden auch mit der gleichen Qualität übernehmen wollten hat der vorherige Wirt noch einige Zeit in der Küche mitgewirkt. Was soll ich sagen - mega. Man findet Klassiker der deutschen Küche zu einem guten Preis. Da ich etwas wählerisch bin beim Dressing von Salaten nehme ich bei Restaurants, die ich noch nicht kenne immer einen Beilagensalat. Dieser war super. Das Joghurtdressing lecker. Dabei war ein Kraut-, Rotkohl- und Möhrensalat und ein lauwarmer Kartoffelsalat. Letzterer war so lecker, dass wir für zu Hause noch eine Portion mitgenommen haben . Danach gab es für meinen Mann die "letzte" Gänsekeule mit Semmelknödel und Rotkraut (definitiv hausgemachten und selbstgeschnitten - super lecker) und für mich das Pfarrhaus-Pfännle Scweinemedaillons in Rahmsosse mit handgeschabten Spätzle. Von letzterem wanderte auch noch was mit nach Hause, da ich die Portion nicht geschafft habe. Mit 2 Aperol, 2 Weinschorle und einem großen Bier lagen wir ohne Trinkgeld bei 81€. Mehr als angemessen für die leckere Speisung. Im Sommer gibt es einen schönen großen Biergarten. Leider ist der Gastraum nicht behindertengerecht. Der Biergarten ist glaube ich von einer Seite ohne Tgeppen erreichbar. Die Toiletten befinden sich im Keller - erreichbar nur über eine Treppe. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen

Four of us stayed at the Kastanienhof and absolutely loved it. The food was excellent. I had a roast beef with spaetzle. Top quality and absolutely right for the price. My wife had the sauerbraten, which also tasted like my mother's. The side salad was really tasty. Fresh and crunchy, dressed with yogurt dressing. We are already looking forward to our next visit to this atmospherically decorated restaurant.

Highly recommended! We ended up here completely spontaneously and were thrilled! The food is delicious, the service is excellent and you just feel good.

Ich bin für ein schnelles Mittagessen in das Alte Pfarrhaus gegangen. Als Tagesgericht gab es Bandnudeln mit Lachs. Das Essen war schön angerichtet, der Lachs war gut zubereitet, lediglich die Nudeln waren ganz leicht zu weich gekocht. Auch hätte ich mir von der Sauce etwas mehr geschmacklichen Kontrapunkt gewünscht, so hatte Sie den Geschmack des Laches aber gut unterstützt (bei dem Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist das aber Kritik auf sehr hohem Niveau). Die Lage des Restaurants ist herrlich, in der ruhigen Abgeschiedenheit des Pfarramt-Innenhofs, weit abseits von dem Rummel der Stadt. Der Servicemitarbeiter war äusserst freundlich und aufmerksam. Alles in allem ein gelungenes schnelles Mittagessen in angenehmer Atmosphäre.

Yesterday, August 24, 2024, we were in the old rectory to celebrate our parents' Iron Wedding with 30 people and it was very nice. In the Kastanienhof the tables were set in the shade as agreed, the tablecloths perfectly matched the flowers we had brought. It was a sunny day and the wonderful atmosphere in the courtyard as well as the extremely friendly and courteous waiters - who also spoke to us briefly - were essential to ensuring that the celebration was a success and that everyone felt comfortable. The food was delicious, the orientation was good-bourgeois, some special requests for the dishes were accommodated without any problems, and the food was served harmoniously for everyone. We didn't know the Kastanienhof beforehand and found it on the internet; none of us daughters live in the region anymore. We therefore had to make all arrangements in advance by telephone. Small misunderstandings in the planning that arose as a result were quickly resolved. Many thanks to Klaudio and his team, who took over the Kastanienhof six months ago, for the successful day.

Were in the beer garden. Very nice in terms of ambience. Unfortunately the salad with roast beef was very bland. There were a few pieces of uncut beef on a few leaves of green salad. Bread was only available upon request. The meat was almost cooked through. The service was also very reserved, you were almost surprised that you actually wanted a second wheat beer and there was no question as to whether you wanted dessert or espresso.

Schöne Location, Essen leider deutlich unter den Erwartungen. Speisen kamen nur lauwarm, Flammkuchen als Vorspeise bestellt, spärlich belegt, kam mit den Hauptspeisen (obwohl man nochmal extra darauf hingewiesen hat). Preisleistungsverhältnis leider unpassend.

One of the most beautiful beer gardens in Pforzheim and the surrounding area, home-style food, friendly service, but it was overwhelmed, we waited 1.5 hours for the food even though it wasn't completely full, very weak. Next door there is a beautiful park-like garden with a fountain and a pavilion, a small rural town museum, an ideal photo shooting area

Table reserved for 10 people. Increasing the number to 15 people was organizationally catastrophic on site. A breaded turkey schnitzel with spaetzle was ordered. When the food came to the table after an hour, I was served an unbreaded turkey schnitzel and I was informed that turkey schnitzel is only served unbreaded here. The other people were satisfied with the taste. Appropriate apology/compensation was not provided.

Unfortunately, service is a bit of a disaster here. The wrong drink was delivered twice and the wrong food was delivered once. The whole thing was then commented on with a shrug of the shoulders, no discount, no coffee or anything else as compensation for the wrong meal. Unfortunately, the waiting time from ordering food to delivery to the table was also very long at 1 hour. The food itself was good, the salad was fresh, the fries were crisp, but the roast beef on the salad was unfortunately a bit overcooked. Unfortunately the service is not worth a second experience.

Wir waren heute zum Geburtstag meiner Mutter zum Essen. Wir waren sieben Personen und wurden ganz hervorragend bedient. Höflich, nett, zuvorkommend und aufmerksam. Auch das Essen kam relativ zügig. Wir bekamen es alle gleichzeitig, und es war wirklich sehr lecker. Es wurde immer wieder gefragt, ob alles in Ordnung ist, ob wir etwas möchten. Alles in allem Können wir über die neuen Betreiber absolut nur Gutes sagen. Wir werden wiederkommen. Auch die Preise sind in Ordnung. Parken kann man entweder quer über die Straße auf dem Parkplatz oder um die Ecke hinter den Geschäften.

We were back in the old rectory today. Reservation went smoothly. We both had a Wiener Schnitzel. Both were undercooked. We ate it anyway. Maybe it was just a "slip".

Unfortunately, since the restaurant's ownership changed, the quality has declined significantly. My family and I had reserved a table for four people on Sunday. Unfortunately, after the reservation was forgotten, we had to wait two hours for our food. In between, no more drink orders were taken and no bread or a side salad was brought. When our food still didn't come after two hours, we left after paying for the drinks. Unfortunately there was no adequate apology from the staff. Therefore, we will not be guests at the Kastanienhof for family gatherings etc. and can no longer recommend the restaurant.

I can't recommend it at all because our food didn't arrive at all. After about 2 hours of waiting we left (after paying for our drinks). The drinks also only came after more than an hour. We weren't the only ones who left after waiting forever. Location is beautiful and sitting outside with a beer was perfect. It has to be said that it was Mother's Day and the crowd was already big, but the operator definitely knew beforehand how many tables were reserved and should have been better prepared. To be honest, the food looked good, unfortunately it didn't work out this time.

Wir waren an Muttertag dort und sind nach zwei Stunden, in denen wir vergeblich auf unser Essen gewartet und ein paar Mal nachgefragt haben, wieder gegangen. Der Service war total überfordert. Schade, denn das war einmal ein wunderbares Restaurant. Die neuen Inhaber wollten an diesem Tag so richtig Geld verdienen und haben fast doppelt so viele Tische wie früher aufgestellt. Weder die Küche noch der Service kamen nach. Absolute Katastrophe!

Reserviert für 6 personen, bei unserer Ankunft wurde ein 6 personenplatz auseinandergerissen. Beim anmelden, "wird grad gerichtet"... derselbe platz wird wieder zusammengestellt. Tischnr 16 ist neben 32, neben 3.... planlos.... so rennt auch das personal durch. Nach 15min kommt jemand wegen trinken aufnehmen, das 30min später auf dem tisch steht. 20 min später wird von einer neuen bedienung das essen aufgenommen. 13uhr reservierung am Muttertag. 15.20 getränke bezahlt ohne essen. Völlig planloses Personal. Ausser uns ist ungefähr 1/4 der gäste ohne essen und "etwas" sauer gegangen... in den gut 2h kam keiner her und hat gefragt, ob alles ok ist, ob wir noch was möchten... aschenbecher war der boden... So kann man einen guten ruf sehr schnell ruinieren. Ich empfehle es niemandem... lieber schlecht essen, als nichts...
