Altes Fährhaus Cafe und Bistro in Bad Oeynhausen

A breakfast buffet costs over €20, but they don't have a "Table Reserved" sign. They expect us to wait at the door for over 10 minutes to get in, even though we called and asked beforehand. They force us to get up and continue eating breakfast outside 🤣 I've been to many restaurants in many countries around the world, but never experienced anything like this. At the end, instead of apologizing, the "underdog" there acted as if I had taken away her chance in life! Never again there.

CAUTION!!! I wanted to visit this restaurant with a tour group. This was arranged well in advance (in March) by phone. A week before, I was there in person to discuss everything again, with the assurance that it would work out. Two days before, the restaurant was clearly unfriendly and canceled the appointment with flimsy statements. This is no way to treat a tour group. Fortunately, there are still some decent restaurants in the area that keep their promises. I do not recommend this restaurant!!!

Located directly on the Weser Cycle Path, this place offers a wonderful view. This alone makes a stop at the "Altes Fährhaus" worthwhile. The staff was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a delicious currywurst with fries.

Even though the restaurant is a bit dated, everything is clean and tidy. We were passing through and stopped in spontaneously. We received a warm welcome, had a table by the window, and were able to enjoy the view. We had the Adana skewer and a mixed grill plate with chicken. It was absolutely delicious, and at just under €20 per dish, it was excellent value for money. The ingredients and side dishes were all fresh. For dessert, we shared a slice of cake (sour cream and mandarin orange slice). A really large piece of cake, which was also fresh and homemade. And without any added sugar, so the slightly sour sour cream flavor harmonized well with the sweet mandarin oranges. Nothing to complain about here either. Since I'm usually a very critical person, I have to say that everything here really appealed to me, and I'd like to express my gratitude. That's gastronomy.

Beautiful location, very friendly service, the food a bit heavy and greasy. The fried potatoes seemed to have been swimming in fat. The chanterelle sauce was tasty, but unfortunately a bit too greasy with too much crème fraîche. But it was still very tasty. The beer, or rather the Alsterwasser, was very, very tasty. All in all, a wonderful experience!

Prices should be checked. One breakfast (2 rolls) + four coffees cost €35. Two breakfasts (5-6 rolls) and a full coffee would have cost €42. We tend to eat everything, so it's okay.

We had a bacon burger, a mixed grill, and bread with aioli to start. The best things were the bread (very fresh white bread) and the view! The burger was okay, nothing more and nothing less, as it was quite dry overall. The accompanying bacon scurried past the pan, and there was almost no sauce. The mixed grill was also okay, but nothing that would make me want to go there again. The accompanying salad was completely without sauce and dressing. The ambiance consists of old furniture and lots of artificial flowers and "greenery" hanging from the lamps. It could also use a bit of cleaning (windows, windowsills, etc.). The staff is friendly and attentive. For us, the one visit, which will remain, was meaningful, and therefore we wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

A beautiful scenic location. The weather was perfect during our visit, so we were able to sit outside. We were there for a leisurely Sunday brunch. Initially, we waited 20 minutes before anyone came out, but the waitress didn't seem to care if there were any new customers, as I had to go inside and ask if they were serving outside. The coffee arrived fairly quickly, though, and we were able to start our brunch. The cold cuts selection was more than meager (one type of semi-hard cheese and one type of sausage), only the salmon improved the selection a bit. Rather poor value for money, but the view was great.

I highly recommend this place; it has a beautiful location right on the Weser River. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. A simple apple spritzer and a cappuccino are served with lovingly decorated decorations. Dining and enjoying drinks there puts you in a good mood.

The food was really good. The view was truly beautiful—the highlight for me. The wait was a bit long, but otherwise, all in all, it was a nice visit. I would come back.

The waterfront location is very beautiful and creates a pleasant outdoor atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food on offer didn't live up to this initial impression. The meat in the burgers was very dry, and the fries were cold when ordered. The portion sizes were quite small overall and varied significantly depending on the dish. The drinks were also disappointing. Overall, the value for money was disappointing – the quality and care of the food do not justify the prices charged. The outdoor ambiance has potential, but in places seems unkempt and outdated. The friendly and attentive service deserves special mention. However, the negative impressions outweigh the positives – a return visit is therefore out of the question.

The Sunday brunch was really good and very varied. There was a wide selection, and the food was regularly refilled. The parking situation isn't great; there could be more. I also decided to only have brunch in the summer, when you can sit outside. It was stuffy and very loud inside. I'm obviously happy for the owners that the brunch is so popular, but I prefer breakfast in a quieter environment. Sitting outside was very pleasant, and the view across the Weser River to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church is fantastic.

A traditional German inn with unconventional Turkish cuisine. A wild mix with very attentive service. As a surprise guest, you have to adjust to what's on offer. I had the impression that they cook really well.

We wanted to take a break on the Weser Cycle Path. Unfortunately, it's not possible to charge a battery here. That's not encouraged here. We had hoped that would have changed after two years. So we continued with an empty battery. It's a shame. There should be more charging stations for e-bikes on a cycle path like this.

On my bike ride, once up and once down the Weser River. I stopped twice, and each time the food was friendly and refreshing for the cyclist. The food was very good every time, and not just your average red and white currywurst. The food was reasonably priced, as it was worth the price.

Went there for the first time today with a reservation. The location was nice, but you had to ask for the waitress yourself, but they were very friendly. We had a seat by the window, but the seating was broken. The buffet was mostly empty. No plates, bread, scrambled eggs, or butter. It took almost half an hour to restock the orange juice. We were very disappointed. Not recommended for the price 😪

Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. We arrived and asked for a child seat. They said yes, but then ignored us. We got ours from the camper. Then we weren't served for a long time, and unfortunately, our order was taken incorrectly. There was smoke coming from the kitchen at one point, and it turned out to be our Adana skewer, which was served to us as is. The asparagus wasn't good either. It tasted of vinegar. We were then given a free dessert, which was very nice, but unfortunately, we can't recommend the restaurant. When we paid, we were also charged €5 too much – I also had a stomach ache later.

I can only agree with R. Klocke. We expected German cuisine, meaning a thinly sliced ​​schnitzel fried in clarified butter, handmade. The schnitzel served was very disappointing. The Turkish cuisine at the Altes Fährhaus was very questionable!!! We'll be going back to Bayernglück or Sonnenwiese for our schnitzel soon, with the usual quality. Too bad, F. Harz

The cappuccino was good; it would have been even better with sugar. The iced coffee was below average, but the location and the relaxed atmosphere made it a very pleasant afternoon. We were there yesterday and were looking forward to German cuisine. There are now Adana skewers, bulgur and lamb chops there. And all for almost €20. Price-performance ratio doesn't fit at all. Location Location is very nice, but everything is very old.

It was our first time there and we can definitely agree with the many positive reviews! A perfect place to switch off and enjoy nature, especially in sunny weather. We enjoyed delicious coffee specialties in the Altes Fährhaus and ate homemade cake - both were simply excellent. We were particularly impressed by the beautiful ambience - the boho style on the terrace, the loving furnishings and details create a cozy and relaxed atmosphere in which you immediately feel at home. The staff were also very attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be back! ☺️

On Easter Sunday we decided to go to the “Altes Fährhaus” restaurant - without a reservation we got a nice table for three people. The staff very polite, friendly and quick. The food was super tasty, lamb chop with few bones, grilled to perfection and side dishes were also really good. There was also a greeting from the kitchen, a tasty tomato soup. We also ordered tarte flambée, which could have been from Alsace, with a thin, crispy base and the topping left nothing to be desired. For dessert there was a latte macchiato cake to kneel in. All in all, a successful meal. Thanks to the team.

Ostersonntag waren wir kurz entschlossen im Restaurant "Altes Fährhaus" - ohne Reservierung haben wir für 3 Personen einen schönen Tisch bekommen. Das Personal sehr höflich, freundlich und schnell. Das Essen war super lecker, Lammkotelett wenig Knochen, auf den Punkt gegrillt und Beilagen auch echt gut. Es gab auch einen Gruß aus der Küche, eine schmackhafte Tomatensuppe. Außerdem hatten wir Flammkuchen bestellt, der auch aus dem Elsass hätte sein können, dünner knuspriger Boden und der Belag ließ auch nichts zum Wünschen übrig. Zum Nachtisch gab es dann Latte Macciato Torte zum hinein knieen. Alles in allem ein gelungenes Essen. Danke an das Team.
