The old train station has been lovingly restored. The food is very good and there's more than enough of it. The price-performance ratio is good. We will definitely come back to eat there again.

The Bahnhöf'l is a relatively large restaurant with an extensive menu. It's located in the former train station building and a later addition. The interior is cozy and varied. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. We were also very impressed with the service; the staff were attentive and quick. We highly recommend this restaurant. Reservations are advisable on some days.

The food was very good. The service was excellent. The ambiance was also good. I just think the prices are a bit high. A 0.33 liter bottle of Coke costs €4.60. Rahmschnitzel with cream costs €19, and that's without the side salad, which, if you want it, costs almost €6 more. Those are pretty steep prices for our region.

I can't recommend this restaurant because I didn't feel comfortable due to the very unfriendly service. And because the responses were arrogant and malicious when I dared to express criticism. Addendum to the owner's response: I'm neither anonymous nor insulting, I was simply sharing my experience here. But I seem to be lacking in the ability to accept criticism. This can't be discussed, and that's precisely the problem. When you go out to eat, you're not looking for an argument, but rather for a peaceful fulfillment of your expectations. My expectations were by no means exaggerated. I simply left the restaurant satisfied and full. But nobody wants such unnecessary discussions. A little self-reflection never hurt anyone. We ate there with a larger group and had reserved part of the outdoor terrace and pre-ordered our food! The service was fast, and we had our drinks in no time, and the food didn't take long either! Most people were very satisfied with the food and said they enjoyed it immensely! I was probably the only one who had a bit of bad luck with the meat on my salad... the salad itself was very tasty, especially with plenty of dressing! The meat (schnitzel strips) on the salad was breaded - I hadn't expected this and I have to say, it wasn't quite my taste. Apart from that, I had to leave about half of it because it was inedible (grisly and stringy)! The portion wasn't too generous, but still OK. They also served it with three thin slices of white bread! The price-performance ratio is just about okay in my opinion... the rest of the menu is also not cheap - but definitely acceptable! The ambiance was really nice, but unfortunately, I can't comment on the interior! So, I would probably visit the restaurant again with a larger group, but less so on a personal level! The service was really quick and friendly!

Three of us were there last Saturday afternoon without a reservation, but were immediately seated near the entrance of the beer garden. The entire ordering process was quick, and drinks arrived promptly. Among other things, we ordered two cheese spaetzle with a side salad, which arrived in a very reasonable amount of time, baked with cheese gratin, and prepared in a casserole dish. Immediately after the first forkfuls, it became clear that this was essentially a prepared spaetzle casserole with a kind of béchamel sauce (a rather imaginative cheese sauce). However, it was NOT cheese spaetzle, which is usually served mixed with cottage cheese (or cheese in general) and, above all, with melted onions on top. The fact that the whole thing was also quite tasteless is debatable. All in all, we were served a different meal than what we had ordered. This cannot be explained away with any "special preparation" even with the best will in the world, because they simply weren't cheese spaetzle! When the already busy waitress asked the obligatory question "was it okay?" while clearing the table, we didn't want to throw the matter in her face (so as not to stress her out) given the busy schedule. The asking price of €13.90 would have been decent for "regular cheese spaetzle," but definitely not for what we got. I can say without hesitation that I've gotten this food more authentically and better at a rest stop! A clear and objectively fair rating (at least for this "food"): Not recommended!

The food looks very good, but the service leaves something to be desired. You wait at the reception desk, and only two out of three waitresses say hello. After 5 minutes, you're taken care of. Not a single smile. They take your menu from you and tell you it's no longer available. There's a minimum of politeness to be had. Just the feeling of intruding. It's a shame, because the setting is pleasant.

Wir hatten spontan am Samstagabend um 19:30 Uhr die Idee Essen zu gehen. Als wir ankamen war der Außenbereich schon gut gefüllt und die Hoffnung noch einen Tisch für 4 Personen zu ergattern war gering. Dennoch hatten wir Glück und konnten nach kurzer Wartezeit unsere Bestellung aufgeben. Im Handumdrehen wurden wir dann erst mit Getränken und kurze Zeit später mit unserem Essen versorgt. Das Essen war sehr gut und die Portionen reichlich, so dass auch wirklich Hungrige satt werden. Hier haben für Preis und Leistung sehr gut zusammen gepasst, also sind wir Tags darauf direkt wieder hier eingekehrt.

If you're looking for something different, you'll also find more unusual dishes on the menu. I particularly like this mix. The portions are generous, the food is consistently delicious, and the value for money is truly excellent. Add to that friendly, attentive service and a location with a cozy atmosphere – the Bahnhöfle definitely has its own charm. If you're looking for good food in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place to be.

Since the weather was bad, it wasn't busy. However, I recommend making a reservation on warm days. The waitress was really nice with my autistic brother. The potato soup is delicious, and the stationmaster's salad is also vegetarian, without bacon. Thank you very much.

We visited the "Altes Bahnhöfl" restaurant last week. During our stay, we stayed in a train carriage for three nights and had dinner twice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Despite the large number of guests, the food was served quickly. The food was excellent. The ambiance both outside and inside the restaurant is very pleasant. We felt very comfortable. The price and quality were perfect. We will definitely be back.

WIr waren gestern im Bahnhöfl. Die Sosse wurde getränkt mit dem Wasser des Sauerkrautes. Die Bratkartoffeln waren anscheinend zum x- ten Male aufgewärmt und richtige Bratkartoffeln sind knusprig. NIE WIEDER

We dined there with a group of 12 people on July 19, 2025. Despite the full house, we received a warm welcome – our reservation was honored as planned, and we were given a very nice table in the covered outdoor area, so we could all sit together. Drinks were promptly ordered and served within a reasonable time, considering the busy restaurant. Special requests for food were also easily accommodated. The dishes were not only plentiful, but also visually appealing and served to the entire group at the same time – something you really don't take for granted! Special praise goes to Franziska – she has a great eye for service and was attentive at all times without being intrusive. Every course was perfectly coordinated, and no one was wasted a single path – anyone who works in service knows how much that means. We felt completely at home and will definitely be back!

Every bite was a delight, the dishes lovingly prepared and delicious. You can tell right away: The food here is cooked with passion! The service was also extremely friendly, attentive, and warm. Ten of us, including two children, ate at the old train station. There's a great selection of different dishes and drinks, the portions are very generous, and the taste is excellent – especially the cheese sauce is amazing :) We'll be back!

We've been coming to Matthäus for years (decades) to eat at the "Alte Bahnhöfl." We've had no complaints – very friendly, attentive service, excellent food (despite the rather large menu), and very nice interiors, including an outdoor area ("beer garden")!

We went out to dinner with two families and four children. Beautiful setting, perfect service, and very child-friendly. The children received their food with the starter, which meant we adults could eat dinner in peace. We were given some croquettes on the house for the children, and each child received a scoop of ice cream at the end. We would love to come back. Thank you very much 😊

WARNING: This place is obviously systematically working to make their own "black money"! I also received an "interim bill" every time, even though the payment method had already been requested beforehand... that says it all, see the reviews below. Once, when I asked for a receipt, which should normally be done with the push of a button, the waitress called out to her colleague, "Come and change the cash register, he wants a bill!"... No words to that, and the operator's attempts at explanation simply make no sense; he ignores the important thing and completely misses the point :D I've been there 2-3 times "out of necessity," and the service is okay... they should improve. The food is nothing special and very expensive for this very noisy location with a lot of traffic (right on the busy main road in Dahner Felsenpark, and there are very few parking spaces "almost 100 meters away"). After reading the latest reviews here, I had to add my two cents.

Update 2025: The half chickens on Wednesday evening were fantastic again. Our trip, which ended at the Altes Bahnhöfl, was once again worthwhile! Update August 2024: We were here again and were very satisfied. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the service was once again super friendly. Reservations in advance are recommended as it gets really busy. The beer garden is super cozy and partially covered. We'll definitely be back! Very tasty food! Attentive and friendly service. Lovely atmosphere in the courtyard (we only sat and ate outside). It's a great place to linger.

Hier kann man einen richtitig netten Abend verbringen. Trotzdem es am Abend des 22.06. sehr heiß war, war der Biergarten sehr gut besucht. Das Essen war sehr gut, besonders gefallen hat uns, dass man die Beilage und die Soße zum Fleisch auswählen konnte.Das Personal war sehr bemüht, hat auch gefragt, ob es uns schmeckt und ob wir noch etwas brauchen, das war sehr angenehm.

I only ate in the restaurant, but I loved it! The service was very friendly, even though it was very busy, and there were plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant.

The service, quality, and value for money are top-notch. We visited the Garten Wirtschaft two evenings in a row and received excellent service. The schnitzel is definitely a specialty. One schnitzel is actually two schnitzels, and you can choose your own sauces and side dishes.

I highly recommend the "Altes Bahnhöf'l" restaurant! And the large number of guests who come here every day seem to agree! Without a reservation, you're out of luck. And that speaks volumes about the team and the high quality of the establishment! The hotel behind the restaurant, so to speak, is also highly recommended. Very, very clean. Great rooms! A very nice and delicious breakfast! Plus, friendly staff and a friendly manager! Perfect! Simply perfect!

The meal (Cordon Bleu with fries) was rather mediocre for €18. Unfortunately, the fries were really bad (soft and not crispy at all). My wife's salad was unimaginative, and the dressing (Burgundy sauce) didn't go with it. Maybe the chef was having a bad day 🤷‍♂️
