Altes Bahnhöf'l in Dahn

Wir hatten spontan am Samstagabend um 19:30 Uhr die Idee Essen zu gehen. Als wir ankamen war der Außenbereich schon gut gefüllt und die Hoffnung noch einen Tisch für 4 Personen zu ergattern war gering. Dennoch hatten wir Glück und konnten nach kurzer Wartezeit unsere Bestellung aufgeben. Im Handumdrehen wurden wir dann erst mit Getränken und kurze Zeit später mit unserem Essen versorgt. Das Essen war sehr gut und die Portionen reichlich, so dass auch wirklich Hungrige satt werden. Hier haben für Preis und Leistung sehr gut zusammen gepasst, also sind wir Tags darauf direkt wieder hier eingekehrt.

Das Schild "Hähnchen vom Holzkohlengrill" hat uns dorthin gelockt. Über unseren Vermieter (Volker Traxel) haben wir einen Tisch für 6 Personen reserviert und wurden trotz Vollbelegung freundlich und professionell bedient. Unsere Essen waren sehr lecker, insbesondere die Hähnchen und der Preis war total angemessen. Wir werden garantiert wiederkommen.

WIr waren gestern im Bahnhöfl. Die Sosse wurde getränkt mit dem Wasser des Sauerkrautes. Die Bratkartoffeln waren anscheinend zum x- ten Male aufgewärmt und richtige Bratkartoffeln sind knusprig. NIE WIEDER

WARNING: This place is obviously systematically working to make their own "black money"! I also received an "interim bill" every time, even though the payment method had already been requested beforehand... that says it all, see the reviews below. Once, when I asked for a receipt, which should normally be done with the push of a button, the waitress called out to her colleague, "Come and change the cash register, he wants a bill!"... No words to that, and the operator's attempts at explanation simply make no sense; he ignores the important thing and completely misses the point :D I've been there 2-3 times "out of necessity," and the service is okay... they should improve. The food is nothing special and very expensive for this very noisy location with a lot of traffic (right on the busy main road in Dahner Felsenpark, and there are very few parking spaces "almost 100 meters away"). After reading the latest reviews here, I had to add my two cents.

Update 2025: The half chickens on Wednesday evening were fantastic again. Our trip, which ended at the Altes Bahnhöfl, was once again worthwhile! Update August 2024: We were here again and were very satisfied. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the service was once again super friendly. Reservations in advance are recommended as it gets really busy. The beer garden is super cozy and partially covered. We'll definitely be back! Very tasty food! Attentive and friendly service. Lovely atmosphere in the courtyard (we only sat and ate outside). It's a great place to linger.

Hier kann man einen richtitig netten Abend verbringen. Trotzdem es am Abend des 22.06. sehr heiß war, war der Biergarten sehr gut besucht. Das Essen war sehr gut, besonders gefallen hat uns, dass man die Beilage und die Soße zum Fleisch auswählen konnte.Das Personal war sehr bemüht, hat auch gefragt, ob es uns schmeckt und ob wir noch etwas brauchen, das war sehr angenehm.

We ate at the Bahnhöf'l for the first time this evening. The food was very good: - Salad with warm schnitzel strips - Schnitzel with cream sauce - Beef salad with fried potatoes - and the chili cheese sauce 🌶️🤩👍🏼 Everything 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

I only ate in the restaurant, but I loved it! The service was very friendly, even though it was very busy, and there were plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant.

The service, quality, and value for money are top-notch. We visited the Garten Wirtschaft two evenings in a row and received excellent service. The schnitzel is definitely a specialty. One schnitzel is actually two schnitzels, and you can choose your own sauces and side dishes.

The meal (Cordon Bleu with fries) was rather mediocre for €18. Unfortunately, the fries were really bad (soft and not crispy at all). My wife's salad was unimaginative, and the dressing (Burgundy sauce) didn't go with it. Maybe the chef was having a bad day 🤷‍♂️

I highly recommend the "Altes Bahnhöf'l" restaurant! And the large number of guests who come here every day seem to agree! Without a reservation, you're out of luck. And that speaks volumes about the team and the high quality of the establishment! The hotel behind the restaurant, so to speak, is also highly recommended. Very, very clean. Great rooms! A very nice and delicious breakfast! Plus, friendly staff and a friendly manager! Perfect! Simply perfect!

A gem in the heart of the holiday region, lovingly decorated and run. We've been regular guests for over 20 years and are always delighted by the honest, delicious, and high-quality cuisine and the warm welcome. We're also delighted by the well-deserved development into a crowd-puller! Keep up the good work and much success!

Four of us arrived an hour before the afternoon break and were allowed to stay outside with our large dog despite the closed terrace in the warm weather. The various dishes were all very tasty and plentiful. We weren't put under any time pressure due to the upcoming break, and the dining room inside was filled with other guests right up until the break.

We had dinner in this restaurant today. The food was really delicious and the atmosphere is nice and inviting. Unfortunately, there were a few points that marred our visit. A shandy marked as 0.5l on the menu was only served in a 0.4l glass. Unfortunately, our waitress, the junior manager Anna, only checked on us very rarely. Half of our group didn't receive their salads until the others had already finished. We were never asked about new drinks, even though we tried several times to draw attention to ourselves by showing our hands - unfortunately in vain. After about 15 minutes of waving in vain, I finally went in myself to order the bill. It took another 20 minutes before we could actually pay. It's a shame that the poor service overshadowed the otherwise really delicious food.

We visited the restaurant yesterday spontaneously with a group of 7 adults and 7 kids and the stuff made it to find a table for us. The food was delicious, the service was amazing and quick, the prices are affordable. We had a great time and enjoyed our lunch. Thanks a lot!

Four of us were in the restaurant after the hike. We had salad "Platform 3" and Palatinate plate. Both very good and inexpensive too! Otherwise you have to say, the ambience and atmosphere are so "well", the service was stressed and at the same time there were several groups with loud children and young people in the restaurant.

Where should we start? The best place to start is with the operation: Very accommodating and friendly and not intrusive. My extra wishes were immediately addressed and nothing that couldn't be done! Despite the full house, she was calm herself and took the time for one. Let's get to the food: I had an Argentinian rump steak with a forest mushroom sauce and extra cheese spaetzle. When it comes to eating out, I'm always very skeptical. I was more than positively surprised here! The steak was fried to perfection and had a perfect crust on the outside, the onions and the wild mushroom sauce were simply a dream! The kässpätzle were also great! The portions are very large (and I like to eat). For dessert there was Kaiserschmarrn with vanilla ice cream, cream and fruit. Yes, everything has its price but here it is definitely worth it!

The day before we wanted to make a reservation for 7 people, even though it was full we were able to get a place. The staff was extremely friendly, always with a smile on their faces. We were very enthusiastic about the food, the portions were plentiful and the price was reasonable. Since we were visiting, we of course only chose typical Palatinate food, which we really enjoyed. The restaurant was very full, but everything went well.

I went to the Altes Bahnhöfl for the first time in 1991 and have been coming back ever since. The quality of the food is simply unsurpassed and the staff is always friendly.

It was very tasty, and the portions were generous, even after a hike (I had two schnitzels with plenty of fries and salad). We didn't visit the hotel, but it looked very nice from the outside. If you like railway romance, this is the place for you.

We had a good meal here with our two primary school aged children. The portions were generous and tasty, and we found the prices to be quite high for a restaurant in the Palatinate Forest. Since there's always a lot going on here and the quality is right, that's okay for us. Parking spaces are located directly in front of the restaurant. We weren't in the hotel or the rooms and therefore can't give a review.

We have eaten there several times and every time it is great no matter what we have eaten. The hotel with the train as a reception and breakfast room is unique and really great.

Was soll man sagen? Wir sind seit einigen Jahren Gäste in dieser Lokalität, ob mittags oder abends. Die Qualität des Essens ist spitze, Bedienungen freundlich und kompetent, der Gastgeber sehr nett. Für das Restaurant empfiehlt sich eine Tischreservierung, weil es in der Regel voll besetzt ist (was schon alleine für sich spricht!). Gewohnt haben wir sowohl in einem Eisenbahnwaggon als auch in der FeWo mit Dachterrasse und waren immer zufrieden. In zwei Wochen sind wir wieder da und das bestimmt nicht zum letzten Mal. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Wir kommen immer wieder gerne mit unseren "Schlemmermäulern" hierher. Der ideale Abschluss eines jeden Wochenendtrips. Der Service und das Essen waren immer perfekt.👍

Delicious food and a nice ambience.

I ate at this restaurant with my husband based on a recommendation. The potato soup was very thick, almost like porridge, and had a strong Maggi flavor. My main course was chicken breast and salad. The price-performance ratio was definitely not right here. A small piece of meat and a simple green salad without tomatoes or peppers. This is very disappointing, especially since the ambience of the restaurant is very appealing.

Last night I had dinner with my birthday party at the Altes Bahnhöf'l. What can I write? Everything was 100% perfect. A huge compliment to the kitchen and the very nice service, we felt comfortable at all times. The food was without exception of very high quality, whether vegetarian, salads or meat. That's why I would like to thank the Burkhart family and the whole team again for the wonderful evening.

The restaurant is rated: Rarely eaten so deliciously and filling portions so well!!! Pan-fried schnitzel with Burgundy sauce, Müllerin trout, tagliatelle with shrimps... first of all, pepperoni in garlic stock and snails with herb butter, mmhhh... Handcrafted very well and honestly at a price that is not too high but reasonable. The service was very friendly, not fake friendly... but warm!!! The atmosphere with the beautiful pictures is simply homely and valuable. We'll be back... promise 👍🏼...

Reichhaltige regionale Küche. Abwechslungsreich und super zubereitet und serviert. Orientiert sich nicht am Mainstream vieler Gastronomen. Deshalb komme ich immer wieder sehr gerne hierher.

Der Service war insgesamt eher durchschnittlich, mit wenig Interesse und Freundlichkeit seitens des Personals – hier gibt es definitiv Luft nach oben. Eine Ausnahme war jedoch die junge Dame, die uns begrüßt hat. Sie war äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit – ein großes Lob an sie, und ich hoffe, dass sie sich diese positive Art beibehält. Das Essen war gutbürgerlich, mit einer ordentlichen Auswahl, und insgesamt in Ordnung, ohne besonders hervorzustechen. Die Atmosphäre war entspannt, und Hunde sind willkommen, was ich sehr geschätzt habe. Das Restaurant verfügt über eine schöne, große Terrasse, die ein angenehmes Plätzchen bietet. Die Umgebung lädt zum spazieren ein. Die Zugwaggons, die zu Hotelzimmern umgebaut wurden, scheinen wie eine nette Idee und sorgen für Abwechslung – ich habe jedoch nur das Äußere gesehen.

Nice location with train station character. Delicious, affordable food, also regional. The hotel offers beautiful rooms in a modeled train station building. Holiday apartments are set up in former railway carriages. You can have breakfast in a former railcar that is intended to be in the main building.

The ambience is inviting and charming, with a nostalgic feel reminiscent of times gone by. The menu offers a diverse selection and the food was simply outstanding. Every bite was a delight! The dishes are prepared with great attention to detail and taste fresh and delicious. I would particularly like to highlight the service. The staff was not only attentive and friendly, but also very competent. It was clear that the employees know their craft and are always striving to offer guests an unforgettable experience. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely come back. A big thank you to the entire team at “Altes Bahnhöf’l” for this wonderful stay! Highly recommended!

Food was good, but the service needs a lot of improvement. Unfortunately there is no trace of the typical Palatinate hospitality. It's a shame... we were looking forward to a nice evening... The dining room was very stuffy and loud, so it was more suitable as a garden restaurant.

Einen Tag vorher wollten wir für 7 Personen reservieren, obwohl voll war wurde uns ermöglicht eine Platz zu bekommen. Das Personal war überaus freundlich, immer ein Lachen auf dem Gesicht. Vom Essen waren wir sehr begeistert, die Portionen waren reichlich und der Preis human. Da wir zu Besuch waren, haben wir natürlich nur typisch pfälzisches Essen gewählt, was, was uns sehr geschmeckt hat. Das Restaurant war sehr voll, jedoch hat alles super geklappt.
