NO STAR FOR NOTHING! Anyone who wants to reserve a table for 6 people at the Alter Moselbahnhof will NOT be given a table! Where does that happen? This is a polite way of saying it's not only disregarding the customer, the guest who provides the income for this establishment, but it's downright damaging to the business. Let's remember the times of Corona, when every takeaway meal, every half cent, was vital to survival. They've long since forgotten that; they're apparently above it all. What exactly happened? A table for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday was supposed to be reserved by phone the day before, after lunch and long before the "rush" for dinner. Even after asking that we would be staying longer and that we had two disabled people with us, we were refused a table reservation. "We only reserve a table for groups of 10 or more. You can just drop by, maybe there'll be something available then..." Exactly! We drive 41 km once and 33 km once in two different cars to maybe, maybe even get a table for 6 people at some point. Where's the head-clapping emoji when you need it? Saturday, October 4, 2025: Due to the bad weather during traditional coffee time, it's impossible to reserve a table for 6 people, two of whom are disabled, one of whom also has a mental disability. This restaurant would rather forgo €20 to €40 in revenue per person. They'd rather reserve tables for 10 people who might not even show up, than welcome fewer people split into several groups! It's insane math to use as a business model. You ignorant people won't get our hard-earned money! Not even on the next or the next opportunity!!! I'd rather drive 20 km for a family reunion than support this customer unfriendliness with even a single cent!

It was quite crowded, so we had to wait a while to get a seat. No one from the service staff paid any attention to us. Once we were seated, it took a very long time for someone to come and ask what we wanted to drink. We waited another good 20 minutes for the drinks, and he immediately left without taking our food order. When the food finally arrived, my father ordered a cold drink, but it didn't arrive until we were finished eating. All in all, we spent a lot of time waiting there, hence the star deduction. But the food was delicious, albeit a bit more expensive (currywurst with fries for €16.80 without mayonnaise). The view of the Moselle would have been beautiful if it hadn't been raining so heavily, and the location is right near the old town.

A wonderful restaurant right on the Moselle River, with a semi-open-air winter garden and a fantastic view of the Moselle and Kues. We found a seat right away and didn't have to wait at all. The menu is very varied, with daily specials and delicious local dishes. The server was very attentive but not intrusive. He served us in a friendly manner. The drinks and food arrived quickly. We both enjoyed our meals. The seating is really great. I highly recommend it. 👍🏻

Certainly not the first address for fine dining. Instead, it's located in the well-kept Old Train Station building, with plenty of space on the terrace and a view of the Moselle and the ships (which dock nearby). The service was truly on point. We were delighted with Gaffel Kösch (0.3 l for €3.90), a bottle of Bernkasteler Lay Riesling (€25.70), blood and liver sausage (€16.40), a fantastic grilled smoked pork with broad beans (€18.80), tarte flambée (€13.10), and stuffed potato parcels (€14.10). Very fair for this absolute tourist resort.

After a wine-tasting tour through the vineyards and to the castle, we stopped here. The service was excellent, we got our drinks quickly, and we didn't have to wait long for the food either. It was delicious and plentiful. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures...

We had a wonderful meal. It's located at the parking lot along the Moselle River.

We ate here tonight with our family. The staff were not child-friendly at all. We received angry looks for a while, but thankfully the food was otherwise excellent! Kudos to the chef! The owner even came after us to ask us why we'd made a mess and why we hadn't asked for a dustpan and brush. Totally rude! The mess was minimal for a dinner with children...they know decency here. A tip for this lady: enjoy the families with kids too, where else do you find them?

We unexpectedly ate here yesterday because we had an hour wait for the ferry. Food was served well in advance. They had a schnitzel menu and a BBQ hamburger menu. Empty plates for our little ones were no problem. The food was surprisingly delicious!

Super tasty and homemade...had saumagen

We sat under a canopy with a great view of the Moselle. Our bikes were in full view. The tarte flambée and salad were very good. The waiter was friendly.

I ate here for the first time 15 years ago, and it was delicious. I've been back a few times since, and it's still good. But...last night...what a disappointment. I wanted the grilled chicken breast with herb butter and fries. They ran out of herb butter! No alternative was offered. When we got to dinner, I found spaghetti with gorgonzola sauce on my plate. The waiter saw it himself and said he'd exchange it. When I went back a little later, there was still some sauce on the chicken...yuck, and it was a chicken breast, so small. The small amount of lettuce (two bites) was also a disgrace...and that for €17.50. The waiter was a bit sarcastic about it. So, it was our last time. You leave with a half-full stomach.

Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were kindly assigned a table. We had a great view of the Moselle. The food is freshly prepared and very good. We enjoyed it so much that we ate here again the next evening. Highly recommended.

Absolutely delicious food. The menu seems unassuming but the taste is delicious and leaves nothing to be desired. The waiters were extremely friendly and didn't let two small children bother them; they even welcomed them. Absolutely family-friendly. We'd be happy to go back!

The food served to us was very good. We had the ANB Burger with fries and the mushroom schnitzel with fries. Both were very tasty. Not frozen, but freshly prepared. The portions were generous. The service was friendly and attentive. The beautiful view of the Moselle, despite the darkness, was very romantic. We will come back because it was simply excellent. Be sure to reserve a table in advance. Card payments are also accepted.

We (four people) were expecting "bistro cuisine." To our surprise, it was solid, good, home-style cooking with nothing to complain about. Drinks were excellent, and service was good and attentive, despite the crowds.

The food was really good, and the price was OK. Unfortunately, our waiter was uninterested. He only cleaned the table when we asked. What was unfortunately very negative was that they served a really bad (cheap) Williams Obstler. That should be better in a restaurant like this. The waiter responded to our criticism by saying we should just write a bad review. I've done that now.

Even at 3pm this restaurant was still bustling with diners. We took note from those around us and ordered the Flammkuchen and it did not disappoint! It’s here I also fell in love with Spundekas cheese. It was evident that this is mostly occupied by Germans and while they spoke very little English they did have a translated menu and assisted where they could. We also had a shrimp skewer which was our least favourite dish. This was the busiest restaurant in town, deservingly so. We would come back here in a heartbeat, great view over the river with great food.

A tourist trap. Bad food, including maggots in the salad. Inconsistency on the menu regarding gluten-free content. If you are allergic to gluten, don't go there, the staff has no idea what is in the food. My salad with ham and cheese - the worst food ever

Ate here during our visit to Bernkastel Kues. The schnitzels were delicious and the chairs were also comfortable. What did bother us was the bell that rings every time the chef has prepared a dish for the staff to pick up. Otherwise a great place to have lunch, the cake looked delicious too!

Good food at an upper mid-range price

Visiting it for the second time in 6 months. Travelled from Brussels to just eat here and drink in a nearby wine bar.

Four of us stayed in Bernkastel for six nights. We ate here three evenings. We enjoyed the food. The waiters and waitresses were friendly and attentive. The view is inviting. Parking is very convenient. I definitely recommend it.

It's very nice here, with a great view of the Moselle River and parking right on site. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Everything was delicious. We'd love to come back.☕

We are spending our vacation in Wehlen. In the evenings, we love cycling to the Old Moselle Train Station. The staff is friendly and attentive to guests. The food is impeccably hygienic, very tasty, and plentiful. The food and drink selection is very extensive and varied. We really enjoy eating here. The value for money is reasonable. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for uncomplicated and delicious food.

Visited the Alter Moselbahnhof this week. We had tarte flambée with Gorgonzola and Palatinate Saumagen (sausage stomach) with Winzergräwes (wine-making gravy). It was absolutely delicious, we'd go back anytime. Friendly service. A definite 5 stars

We ate there at 5 p.m. on April 29, 2025. My husband had a burger and I had tarte flambée, we didn't drink any alcohol. The FOOD initially makes a good impression. When we arrived at the hotel in the evening we both felt sick, we vomited several times during the night and had diarrhea. Over the course of the night I developed a headache, body aches and chills. Oh, we still feel pretty bad the next day. It's a shame 😢 the assumption that it was the food is obvious. We are writing to you so that you can check your hygiene concept.

Nice atmosphere, that's about it. The service is underground. I have never seen more unfriendly service. The ladies should think about changing jobs! The food tasted good, but was way too expensive. I've had much better burgers for less money.

Free use of the toilet, but what slow service. Staff walk by and wait until you have viewed the entire menu. If you only buy a coffee, you can only pay in cash after another long wait.
