Nicely decorated restaurant with classic German cuisine. Overall, the food was okay. Not exceptional, but good. Some of the ingredients give the impression that convenience products are being used. Service was fast and friendly. However, they insist on cash payments. Why, I wonder?

We were looking for a restaurant by chance and ended up at the Alte Schmiede. A very nice little beer garden, very friendly service, and, above all, regional dishes that take you back to the past. A very positive experience for us and a gem absolutely worth preserving, worth every cent. If we're ever in Dresden again, we'll stop there again. We were very impressed!

We were there twice: last year we had roast pork with sauerkraut (very tasty), and this year I treated myself to the Hütten Schnitzel. The first bite, wow, what an explosion on the tongue. So very, very tasty. The ambiance was rustic and cozy inside, and outside, a cozy garden, designed with lots of love. The service was very friendly and quick. Kudos to the kitchen; I'm not used to that kind of speed here in Bremen. My father-in-law was just as enthusiastic about his gypsy schnitzel, and that's saying something, because he's quite picky about food. Cash only, but that's no problem for me, as I prefer to pay in cash anyway. And as a northern German, I now know what a Plinse is. So, a thoroughly successful evening.

You should reserve your table well in advance. The staff is very friendly and not pushy. They ask if they can help you choose your dishes and even stop by to ask if you have any other requests. The food came quickly and tasted great. The meat was tender and well-seasoned. We've been there several times and would love to come back. You really feel at home there.

Thanks to the appealing ambiance, super friendly and competent service, and delicious food, from the starter soup to the main course and dessert, we had a truly lovely evening at the Alte Schmiede. Beautiful beer garden with very, very delicious food. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Dogs are allowed and are provided with a water bowl (we didn't even have to ask). The restaurant is a bit more expensive, but the quality is excellent. Highly recommended! Currently, however, you can only pay in cash.

We went there for dinner in the evening. The courtyard is beautifully decorated, with lovely lighting, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was also super friendly. I would eat there again on my next vacation. But please note, only cash payments are accepted. No card payments.

We're totally in love with this restaurant! From the very first second, you feel so comfortable, as if you were sitting in a friend's garden. This isn't just due to the great ambiance of the restaurant and its beautiful beer garden, but also to the warmth of the staff! The food is excellent! If you're looking for good, home-style cooking, this is the place for you. Large portions that will fill you up just right. I would call the Schmiedebrot a little insider tip; I've rarely eaten anything so delicious! Big compliments to the kitchen! The prices are also totally reasonable. We'll definitely be happy to stop by again on our visits to DD. :)

We held a birthday party here and were overwhelmed by the diverse menu and the sumptuous, delicious dishes. The service was always friendly and attentive, yet not overly intrusive. We are currently on vacation in Dresden and have already discovered the restaurant on Google. Of course it had to be tested straight away. Once again discovered a nice restaurant with good food. You won't find a grützwurst with cheese gratin everywhere. The grilled knuckle at the next table also looked good. You sit in a cozy atmosphere in the restaurant, it's a shame that it was still too cold for the beer garden...but I'll be back.

We had dinner at the Alte Schmiede twice within a few days. The dishes are all very tasty, the portions are very generous for the price and the staff is extremely attentive and super friendly! Even with a dog, visiting the inn was absolutely uncomplicated! The furnishings and ambience are very detailed and fit perfectly into the venerable house. We would like to thank you very much and look forward to visiting you again!
