Alte Post in Alzenau

We wanted to stop by this evening after the Alzenau Christmas market, but the door was already locked at 10:45 p.m., even though there were still a number of tables with guests inside. This wasn't the first time that the door was closed on Saturday evening, but if there's a small event in Alzenau, you could maybe leave it open a little longer. The tenant complains on the internet that he has to fight for survival - you feel a bit embarrassed...... 😞

Nice ambience, delicious breakfast buffet and good coffee. The food is also plentiful and good. The staff is very friendly, we like going to the Alte Post.

Stopped in spontaneously and received a friendly welcome. Despite not having a reservation, we were assigned a seat and served promptly. The food was very tasty and the portions were generous. Price-performance absolutely reasonable. The atmosphere is cozy and bright. We were definitely not here for the last time. Keep it up 👌🏽

I always feel comfortable in the old post office. This time I was at the funeral and it went to the old post office.

I have known the Alte Post for many years and have eaten there many times. Unfortunately, the prices have been increased so much that there is no longer an appropriate price/performance ratio. The quality is mixed - a lot of it is straight out of the box (convenience). I've had rather bad experiences with the service recently (unfriendly, no greeting, main course simply changed without consultation, etc.), which is probably due to the lack of skilled workers. I now avoid the Alte Post and prefer to go to the restaurant opposite.

Since I am on October 19th. It's my birthday, so we thought we'd go to Alzenau to the Alte Post and have dinner there! The table for three people was reserved in advance! We, my wife, my son and I, were in the restaurant on October 19th, 2024 BEFORE 5:30 p.m.! (There was live music from 6:30 p.m.) The first impression was good! Ambience is quite ok! Order went quickly! We ordered two beef roulades with dumplings and red cabbage and a vegan burger! Plus 1x large bottle of water, 1x house lemonade and 1x injected apple juice! The food came quickly, (feels like 10…15 minutes) However, the roulades were also cold! My partner's food wasn't any better either (lukewarm) The roulade filling is partially refrigerator cold! Dumplings and red cabbage also lukewarm! Vegan burger, according to my son, was good! Tip from me. Leave the food in the microwave for a minute longer, but reduce the power by 30%! Service three stars Food two stars! Ultimately more appearance than reality. However, according to the service staff, the store was completely booked! But that's McDonald's too! To be honest, I'm not one to rate a restaurant, but this one was really wrong. Sorry

Wanted to have breakfast there. The shop was empty and the service seemed listless and unfriendly. This was our last visit to the Alte Post.

Great food, had a lovely halloumi burger here, was a big burger as well. Nice place lots of food choices.

The food was really tasty, but the service was very unfriendly. We felt unwelcome and the waiter acted annoyed. The fact that we wanted to pay by card also seemed to bother him... I don't know whether it was because we were there with children or because the waiter was alone. But even this is no reason to take it out on the guests.

Great restaurant with a nice atmosphere. I've been there many times and the service and food are excellent! It's open all day and everything from ice cream and coffee to salad with goat cheese and great vinaigrette to the cooked cheese schnitzel has been really wonderful so far. My favorite is the cooked cheese schnitzel, but the schnitzel with green sauce is also great. You can also choose between fried potatoes or fries. There are also great vegetarian dishes. There are also great drinks, the long drinks are very good, but the non-alcoholic versions like Rhubarb Spritzz are also highly recommended!

The breakfast buffet is always empty, you have to ask if there are any rolls or bread and there is no selection of rolls.

The most positive thing is the location. It's nice to sit outside. Staff is nice too. But the prices are overpriced for what you get. The food was good, but didn't blow me away. Doesn't have to be again at these prices.

Food was ok, but overpriced. But the service there was beyond subpar! I haven't experienced something like that in a long time!!! First the wrong drink was served. Instead of an apology, a waiter who hadn't even taken the order barked at me that I had ordered it that way! Without words. When we asked for ketchup and mayonnaise with the fries, 2 small pre-packaged sachets came like in a fast food chain (very sustainable...), which we were even charged for later!! Even though our glasses were empty, we were no longer noticed. That was the last time, we'll never go here again. We then went to the restaurant below the castle, where on the one hand it was cheaper and tastier and on the other hand the service was very courteous. And there was ketchup and mayonnaise for free...

Very good food, unfortunately the waiter didn't know that it was the American weeks when there were also supposed to be burgers etc. The tables for two people are too small to eat at and even when we asked, we weren't allowed to move to a free table for four.

Unfortunately we must have had a bad day. I had a baked potato with salad and chicken breast. So far it was ok, but when I had to pay over €20 for it I was shocked. There were 6 strips of chicken extra, the potatoes were ok and salad was basically a side dish. Ok live and let live. Unfortunately, the waitress didn't seem to be in a good mood, and it happened that I wasn't always in a good mood either. Card payment took forever because the cash register system somehow couldn't separate our table. Yes, we could have made a calculation and exchanged the money with each other. Then we should pay cash. Of course no one had any cash with them. Why should we, we specifically chose a restaurant where you can pay by card. At some point it all worked out... It's a shame to have had that experience.

The price/performance ratio no longer fits. Little food and not particularly good quality for a lot of money. Things used to be different. Was our last visit. Very unfortunate.

The last time for us for now. There has been a lot of pressure on prices here recently. Flame cake for 16€!! Service tried hard but was completely overwhelmed. Food ok so far. Price performance combined with the service no longer fits at all. We now always eat somewhere else in Alzenau.

Average good, terrible service. Not even a smile, no greeting at the door, the waiter walked past us several times without making eye contact. No children's menus at the table, even though we had 4 children with us. We had to ask for the menus, we had to ask to order. Then the food came and it was disappointing. Additionally, it took more than 45 minutes for the food to arrive. It's overpriced for what it is. The staff urgently needs a crash course in customer friendliness and service. A real disappointment.

You can eat very well here, the dishes are varied and very tasty. The quality of the meat has always been very good. I find the price-performance ratio balanced and understandable. The restaurant is in a great location, children can jump around on the adjacent market square while they wait a short time for their food. When the weather is nice, the terrace also offers great shady and sunny seating. We like coming here.

We were served by a middle-aged gentleman who only looked at his mobile cash register system, not at the guest. He gave us the menus and after a while came to take the order. The dishes we wanted were from today. This information is given when you bring the cards. We chose again, he asked us to tell him individually, even though it was the same dish twice, otherwise he would have problems with his mobile system. A young waitress brought the plates and I asked for some hot sauce (or salsa). She only came back when our plates were empty and asked if it was tasty. I mentioned the missing salsa, she said: I forgot that, there was too much of everything. The gentleman came to collect, I held out a note to him, he told me to put it on the table and looked again at his mobile cash register system. So service is different!

Good breakfast at acceptable prices. Parking available. Service was nice and quick.

A really nice restaurant. I had ordered a Lunette Gamberetti. They were there because it was Italian week. Delicious. The espresso was also really good. In summer you can sit outside on the terrace.

Arrived and was greeted very coldly by a middle-aged male waitress. The menu says that you should/may speak to the staff about allergens etc., but apparently no value is attached to this. We wanted to order food, salad without the cheese please, but received a very unfriendly answer that this wasn't possible! It can only be ordered as it was written on the menu! Well then you're probably not allowed to have lactose etc these days 🤷🏼‍♀️ Very unfortunate. In any case, we won't see this restaurant again and the waiter should perhaps respond to customer requests, because they have to be allowed to eat their food and pay for it!

Uncomplicated during the Corona period. The salad lacked a special kick in the dressing.

We went there for dinner yesterday for our 10th anniversary. The service was very accommodating and gave us a nice place. Unfortunately, the gentleman who served us afterwards was anything but accommodating as he was more busy talking to the table next to us. The food was very good and the portions were completely sufficient. Unfortunately we didn't finish the food and wanted to have it packed, whereupon our waiter brought us 2 plastic containers and we had to pack our food ourselves at the table. The table was then full of all sorts of things so that it was no longer possible to feel comfortable. In the meantime, the waiter had disappeared again at the neighboring table and only came back after the service finally cleared our table and we told her that we would like to pay.

Sehr zuvorkommender und schneller/aufmerksamer Service !!! Das hatten wir auch schon anders erlebt und waren nun positiv überrascht! Essen wie immer sehr gut, überschaubare Portionen! Gute Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken.

Meine Freundin und ich hatten einen tollen Abend in der Alten Post und haben, obwohl sie anfangs wirklich sehr lange (20 Minuten?) auf ihren Cocktail warten musste. Das Essen war insgesamt sehr gut - vor allem wurde der Kartoffelstampf delikat verfeinert! Der Kaiserschmarrn war auch sehr lecker, aber meines Empfindens nach ein wenig teuer für die Portionsgröße (mehr würde ich nicht als Dessert haben wollen, aber ich hätte bei der Portion mit 7-8 EUR gerechnet, nicht fast 10 EUR, aber vielleicht sind die Preise auch überall inzwischen gestiegen?). Die Kartoffelpuffer wirkten allerdings nicht sehr frisch und hatten einen für uns zu starken kartoffeligen Geschmack. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und witzig und wir hatten insgesamt eine lebhafte, lustige Zeit in angenehmer Atmosphäre!

We decided to have lunch at this restaurant with a friend. (14:30) This was my first visit. We were greeted very coldly. We asked twice to bring the menu and in the end they brought it to us after 15 minutes. The middle-aged waiter did not communicate with us very friendly and answered my questions about the sauce in the salad (I am allergic to some oils) in a very strange and dissatisfied way. The food was brought to us with a huge black hair in the middle. Luckily they changed our dish. When we decided to settle the bill, I didn't pay with cash and asked to pay by card, to which I again received a very unhappy face from the waiter. He said, "I already printed it out." I didn't understand what he typed. He just stood there with the device and the bill was electronic. The food was delicious, except that the prices were very high. Unfortunately I won't go there again.

Das Essen war gut und der Service auch okay, die zweier Tische sind zu klein um gut zu essen.

Frühstücks Buffet ist ansprechend angerichtet. Es wäre schön, wenn Forelle oder Lachs da wäre. Kaltgetränke zu teuer!

Nice stay with delicious (vegetarian & vegan) food. The vegan noodles were a dream, but the portion could have been a little larger.

Das Personal war stets freundlich. Das essen schmeckte lecker und die Auswahl war gross. Leider wurden ein paar Speisen nicht wieder aufgefüllt.

Ein Wunderschönes Restaurant, welches leicht zu erreichen ist, ausreichend Parkmöglichkeiten hat, super Service, man wartet nicht lange und das Essen schmeckt.

Wir waren über der Gaststätte im Saal bei einer Veranstaltung am Samstag Abend. Die ca. 80 Teilnehmer waren alle, ziemlich verärgert, dass die Gaststätte geschlossen war. Dies war nicht das erste Mal, dass wir vor verschlossener Tür standen.

Immer einen Besuch wert - obwohl wir den Burger mit 18,90 Euro zu teuer fanden ! Und Mittagskarte mit wenigstens 3 Gerichten wäre schön

Ein Restaurant wo man sich wohlfühlt, gutes Essen und unsere Bedienung war top, würde da einem 6.Stern geben.

Super lecker Essen und top Service. Auch dass wir kurzfristig um 3 Personen erweitert haben, war kein Problem. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir gehen gerne dorthin. Einfaches unkompliziertes Buffet. Man sollte Schulferien meiden. Es war bei unserem Besuch sehr laut und Kinder die am Buffet rumspielen geht gar nicht. Das ist aber nicht die Regel. Gerne besuchen wir die Alte Post mal wieder.

Sehr schöne Lokalität mit einer angenehmen Atmosphäre mitten in Alzenau. Heute war ich zum zweiten Mal in der Alten Post in Alzenau- und wurde wie beim ersten Mal nicht enttäuscht. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist reichhaltig und sehr lecker - Hier ist für jeden was dabei, ob vegan oder vegetarisch. Des Weiteren ist das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis top - Wo bekommt man heute für 10,90 Euro noch so ein reichhaltiges Frühstücksangebot wie hier ?! Über den Service kann man auch nicht meckern, trotz dass viel los war, kam ständig jemand und hat abgeräumt oder wieder frische Getränke gebracht. Alles in allem top. Ich freue mich jetzt schon auf meinen nächsten Besuch in der Alten Post. Weiter so! Eine kleine Anmerkung hätte ich noch, es wäre schön wenn ihr das Frühstücksbuffet beschriften würdet. Und in den Toiletten für einen angenehmen Geruch sorgen würdet - ich weiß nicht, ob ihr einen Rohrbruch hattet, auf jeden Fall riecht es unangenehm.

Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, Qualität und Freundlichkeit werden immer schlechter. Hoffentlich gibt es wieder einen Pächterwechsel. Alkoholfreies Bier bestellt, eines mit Alkohol bekommen und dann hieß es, "das macht nichts, ein Bier kann man doch trinken."

Schlechte Aufnahme an Getränke und Essen. Hauptspeise war früher da als Vorspeise. Sehr teuer und dazu noch nicht richtig gewürzt.

Wir waren Sonntags zum Buffet da. Der Service war sehr freundlich aber im gesamten überfordert/unterbesetzt. Preis/Leistung vom Buffet passt nicht. - Brötchen waren hart und aufgebacken, leider nicht frisch vom Bäcker, was ich in dieser Preisklasse erwarten würde. - Frisch zubereitete Eierspeise dauerte über 1 Std. wurde offenbar vergessen. Dafür war diese sehr lecker - Lachs war relativ schnell vergriffen und nicht nachgelegt worden - Teller und Besteck waren öfter leer am Buffet, worauf hingewiesen werden müsste. Alles in allem kann ich das Lokal leider nicht mehr empfehlen 😞 nun zum zweiten Mal enttäuscht worden. Nächstes Mal gehen wir wo anders hin. Das größte plus, war die nette Servicekraft. Die trotz dessen Stresses sehr freundlich war und ihr bestes gab.

Heute zum Frühstücksbuffet dagewesen.Die Weisswürstchen waren laufend leer,das passiert wenn man nur immer 4-5 Stück reingemacht.Die Brezeln waren knochenhart wahrscheinlich vom Vortag.Für Vegetarier wurde sehr wenig angeboten.Der Service hätte auch besser sein können.Alles in allem waren wir enttäuscht und werden nicht mehr dort hin gehen

Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Essen, es hat hervorragend geschmeckt, sehr appetitlich angerichtet, normale Wartezeit, toll. Ausgesprochen gut war auch der Service, sehr präsent, aufmerksam und freundlich. Auch das Ambiente stimmt. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und kommen bestimmt wieder!

Das Frühstück ließ wie immer keine Wünsche offen.Wir waren um 09.00 Uhr da wurden aber nicht gleich an unseren Tisch geführt sondern standen ca 10 Minuten im Eingangsbereich,da die zuständige Servicekraft noch nicht da war.Ansonsten alles Top

Ich habe schon besser gegessen. Was wirklich geändert werden muss ist die kenntlich Machung des Eingangs, bin im Dunkeln zweimal daran vorbeigelaufen.

Sehr leckeres Essen! Für Vegetarier gibts hier praktisch nur zwei Salate. Alles andere ist sehr Fleischlastig. Aber definitiv super lecker! Parken kann man kostenlos auf dem Burgparkplatz (5 Gehminuten entfernt). Neben den Gerichten auf der Karte gibts auch immer Enoch eine wechselnde Tageskarte oder Winterkarte.

Sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt. Gutes Essen, aufmerksame Bedienung. Modernes Design lädt zum Verweilen ein.

Die Auswahl am Buffet könnte größer sein. Brötchen vom Bäcker und nicht selbst aufgebacken. Rühreier kalt, Latte macchiato nur lauwarm. Werde nicht mehr zum frühstücken kommen.
