Alte Liebe Restaurantschiff in Berlin

Idyllic café right on the Havel River. It's a restaurant ship with a terrace on a pontoon (it rocks beautifully in the swell). The coffee, food, and ice cream are delicious. The service is very friendly. It's on the pricier side. I enjoy coming back every now and then.

So, without the hair in the food, the meal wouldn't have been so bad. The meat we ordered was cooked through, and even served a second time. The view of the guests from the restroom was also unique. An experience you don't need anymore. Old love just doesn't taste good a second time.

We were there on October 3, 2025, at around 6 p.m. and stopped at the sign that said wait here. Guests were just leaving, and at least two tables had become free. The waitress called out to us from a distance, "Inside only." According to the opening hours, it was still three hours until closing time. The sun was shining; it was beautiful autumn weather. Since it wasn't the first time we'd encountered extremely irritated service staff who seemed to hate their jobs, we passed and instead went to a restaurant where we were treated kindly. This dislike for guests, one's own job, and everything else, which has been radiated there and cultivated for years, is unnecessary. The outlook can't be that good.

We were looking forward to our visit to the old love and were disappointed this time. We treated ourselves to the fish soup as a starter, and it was very tasty. The chef just went a bit overboard with the salt. Next, we had the trout with potatoes and broccoli. That was a real disappointment. The trout was barely warm, the potatoes a bit warmer, and the vegetables were no better. The fish comes with lemon, so we had to ask for more. The steak was completely dry and firm. On the other hand, the fried potatoes and the beans were very good. It would have been nice to actually get a hot and tasty meal for this high price. Thanks for the service. The service was excellent. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back. Being the first guests of the day and receiving a barely warm meal is a turn-off. When we go out to eat, it should be better than at home.

A little insider tip. Great value for money. The portions are generous and look fantastic. I discovered this spot while walking along the Havel River. I'll definitely be back.

Not recommended. After 45 minutes, the food arrived unseasoned, and the side dishes didn't even arrive. Fortunately, the service didn't care. Given the location, there's no shortage of unsuspecting customers paying above-average prices for subpar food.

Good food and large portions. Unique ambiance. You can sit inside the ship or on the dock in front of the ship.

The best fish soup I've had in a long time. I love the Alte Liebe. The cake was also exactly to my taste.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. The pancakes tasted absolutely terrible—they seemed like ready-made goods and were poorly prepared. The service also left a lot to be desired: The waitress was very unfriendly; there was no hello, no please, or even a smile. As a guest, I felt completely unwelcome. Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience; I won't be back.

I rented the houseboat "RIB-EYE" through the Alte Liebe restaurant ship for a stag or hen party with ten people. I give it 5 stars across the board. The boat is extremely well-maintained and extremely comfortable. Everything you need is on board. The skipper is a real star with old Berlin charm. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and grills like a champion. Communication with Nicole beforehand was also top-notch. To be continued. Cheers.

A truly unique and fantastic place for a cozy meal! The view of the water is beautiful, and the food is delicious, too. Be prepared to be patient, as the tables fill up quickly, and you'll have to wait for a seat. But it's worth trying!

Two stars for the great location in summer. Right on/on the water. The food isn't particularly special and is overpriced. You just pay for the location. When we complained about the bill, the staff were very unfriendly. And no adjustment was possible because the bill had already been split. We won't be back.

A wonderfully romantic restaurant ship on the banks of the Havel River. It offers a wide selection of delicious, predominantly German dishes and refreshing drinks. The service is warm and friendly. Great views of the water, especially at sunset. Highly recommended!

Today we visited the "Alte Liebe" again. Due to the weather, the outdoor area was busy. There were only a few guests inside. Unfortunately, we were not at all satisfied with the service and the presentation. The cards were carelessly placed on the table without a return greeting. The coffee we ordered arrived within a reasonable time. After a wait, we were surprised that guests who had arrived later had already been served their meals. After about 40 minutes of waiting, we heard the waitress in the kitchen asking about our ordered dishes. We happened to be sitting near the kitchen window. It would certainly have been appropriate to inform us that something had gone wrong in the kitchen. That can happen and would be excusable. Before we could ask for the unfinished order, the waitress appeared with one of our pancakes. With cutlery for two people, no napkins!!! Since we are a couple, it wasn't a problem for us. What if that hadn't been the case???? After the first pancake was eaten, the second arrived. Again, no napkin and two sets of cutlery. After we had eaten and were about to pay, we asked the waitress about our confusion about the process. Here was her answer: You can't expect the dishes to come out immediately after coffee. If the chef receives a fish order in between, it will be brought forward. You can't expect both pancakes to be served at the same time. How this works in other restaurants is a mystery to me. Of course, we didn't tip for this blatant excuse and the poor service. Since the waitress couldn't give a penny, she also felt personally attacked because she had to go to the counter in the ship. We won't be visiting the "Alte Liebe" again because of this experience. At this price level, I expect reasonable, appropriate service and not blunt excuses. We weren't complaining about the food, but rather the timing of the order. Obviously, the establishment doesn't feel the need to serve its guests properly.

We were there on a wonderfully warm summer evening. Despite the good weather, it was no problem getting a seat outside. The view is simply beautiful. The food was also great; I just wish there had been a larger selection of appetizers. The quality was really very good, though. What really impressed me, though, was the super-friendly waitress. Not only was the service on point, but we were also able to chat with her a bit. Heike, you're great! We'll definitely be back soon.

Everything was great. The hostess even "scraped out" a table for 7 people at the front of the boat for us, even though another table for 9 people was already reserved and there was barely any room left. Top location. 😃

A pleasant, airy terrace next to the ship and fast, friendly service are ideal for family celebrations or excursions. There's also a BVG bus stop near the ship!

Great thing, a restaurant boat on the Havel

This restaurant is truly an insider tip! The ambiance right on the water is beautiful and inviting. I especially recommend the zander fillet – it was excellently prepared, cooked to perfection, and simply delicious. The service was very attentive and friendly. I will definitely be back and can highly recommend this restaurant!

Great location! Really, from a distance, the food looked fantastic, almost like something out of a glossy magazine. The drinks? Instagram-worthy! It was just a shame that we apparently got the famous table 50. You know, the one at the entrance, front left, where guests are obviously part of the decor. We waited 20 minutes. Not for a five-course meal, no, for a menu. The mystical menu, however, remained a mythical creature for us, shown only to others. Guests who arrived after us were truly pampered: menus, drinks, and probably a little back massage. Us? We stared longingly at the lake and wondered if sunlight and disappointment could perhaps be combined to make a cocktail. With the first guest, we thought, "Oh, that was a bummer." With the second, "Okay, maybe we were overlooked." With the third, "Okay, we're on a reality show and the waiter is testing how long people stay thirsty before they leave." Conclusion: Beautiful views – service like a ghost: invisible and intangible. We'd rather take our money, our hope, and our good mood and invest them where guests aren't treated like air.

We had takeaway food, which was truly delicious. The ambiance on the ship is very "quaint," which I personally really liked. You can also sit outside, right by the water. The service was super friendly and relaxed. We'll most likely go again 😃

Uncomfortable atmosphere. The meal for two people was served late (about 10 minutes apart), so one of the dishes was already cold by the time we shared it. The greasy schnitzel tasted of nothing, and the fried onions were missing from both meals. The entire restaurant reeked of frying oil, like a typical fast-food restaurant. When I think of "old love," I think of something romantic, but it was completely missing. No candles or romantic lights... that would have significantly improved the atmosphere, which I think is very important in a restaurant.

The tastiest fish soup I've had in a long time. A good selection of classic fish dishes and other dishes. The skipper plate was just as good as the meatloaf. The Flensburger on tap was divine at 25 degrees. A quiet and beautiful pier on the Havel. This is a bear.

We went there for dinner with my parents in the summer. We had a nice table on the jetty with a great view of the Havel. The service was very courteous and the food was very tasty. Definitely recommended in summer.

A nice place with a great sunset 🌅 and very good food

We arrived around 4 p.m. on a weekday afternoon. There was still space inside, but it wasn't cold at all in the end, so we were able to sit outside. A large sign in front of the jetty pointed out egg tarts with vanilla ice cream and cream. Just in front of the ship's hatch was a second sign with chanterelle dishes. The fish is not exactly cheap. My friend sat down with her dog, I asked inside whether we could pay with a debit card: Yes, and whether we could sit outside: Yes. I took two cats outside with me. Summer is over, so it's logical that there's no service outside. After agreement, I took the cards back in and placed the order for food and drink. The drinks and food were served outside one after the other. The pollock was a huge portion, so the price was reasonable and the finest egg pancake was not only delicious, but also cheap! My companion paid with an EC card inside, I looked after the dog, then I paid in cash and used the toilet afterwards. Everything is clean and totally atmospheric inside! We always enjoy coming here.

Everything was ok, sitting on the Havel when the weather was nice, wonderful.

Unfortunately our experience was negatively affected by the unfriendly and rude waitresses. As an adult you are treated like an annoying child. In our case, a woman in our group wanted to change the dish to a special shortly after ordering, which was on the back of a stand and was not directly visible. A friendly “I’m sorry, the kitchen has already started” wouldn’t have been a problem. Other guests were approached in front of us, a group of pensioners who overlooked a sign shouted at them that there was no space and that they should leave. I don't understand how you can work in the hospitality industry but then treat paying guests like a nuisance. Curiously, this is the standard in some regions of Germany. However, the waitresses were quick, the food was ok but nothing special and the view was really great. If you have thick skin, the visit may be worth it.

Breathtaking view of the lake and nice place to enjoy perhaps a drink and/or cake. The service is alright for how busy it is, you will get what you need. The food quality is on the lower end. I had a main dish there, the seaman’s dish and there was 0 seasoning on anything. I also got the broccoli as a side dish and it was definitely from a frozen bag; again 0 seasoning and watery.

The service is unreasonable for guests. If you have any questions or comments to the waitress, you will immediately be threatened with housekeeping. Actually, the customer is the king. But maybe the family business is called Kaiser. And the kitchen should still be working for a warm meal.

On the open upper deck at 25 degrees, very nice here. Service friendly, steak good, sprayed delicious. And the view is perfect. Fits!

We were here many years ago. It's still beautiful and an experience. In great weather on the terrace, mild wind and romantic ambience. The food was very tasty, the service was super nice. Dogs 🐕 allowed. What more could you want? We'd love to come back. Recommended!

Die Fischsuppe nicht zu empfehlen, da hat die Nordsee weniger Salzgehalt. So eine unfreundliche Bedienung habe ich noch nie erlebt. Sie müsste eigentlich dem Gast ein Trinkgeld geben für einen Besuch bei der Imbissstube mit Ambiente.

What hype for this location. One waitress had a very harsh commanding tone. Sad for all the older people who want to have a few nice moments. Some of them even sat in the blazing sun because the parasol was broken. We cannot recommend this restaurant, mainly due to the behavior of the staff. You should also remove the screw hook on one of the women's toilets, below the window. It hurts quite a bit when you hit it. Since we are not the first to complain about the staff, hopefully they will finally respond.

Yes, the ambience was really nice. Even though I had read the negative reviews from other guests, I still wanted to see for myself. Unfortunately I have to agree with some of the negative reviews regarding the service and quality of the food. We ordered an apple and a plum cake, and I had an espresso with it. When ordering, I also asked for a glass of water with the espresso. When our order arrived (without the glass of water), I politely asked for it again. The waitress left without a word and with an annoyed look and finally brought the water. I thanked her, but she didn't respond and put the glass on the table without comment. About the cake slices: At first I complained that there was hardly any apple or plum in it. The cake was very soft, but unfortunately too soft because the dough was still runny at the bottom, as if the cake had been taken out of the oven too early. This was the case with both pieces of cake. I don't like giving food back or having it thrown away, but I couldn't eat that for the life of me. At such prices you naturally expect corresponding quality. It's a real shame that such a beautiful location is dragged down by poor service and poor quality.

If you just want to stop by boat, you're in good hands here. Nice staff.

When it came to food, it was more about quantity than quality. Lukewarm thawed pollack fillet the size of a tennis racket. Unfortunately we weren't happy with the food, especially because it was very expensive. However, the atmosphere and ambience are great.

The old love is soooo a wonderful place, the service is super nice. The terrace on the sunny side is always like a vacation, pure nature. Large selection, large portions. Love it! Card payment is possible.

Always a good place to go on hot summer days to cool down in the form of salad 🥗, ice cream or cold drinks. The jetty is well stocked with parasols. The interior of the ship is well ventilated. All in all, a great “old love” as Berliners know and love it. Thanks keep it up.🤗😘

The old restaurant ship is a really idyllic place on the water and a beautiful sunset in the evening if the weather is right. The food is good, the prices are still acceptable. But the service was borderline. After a quarter of an hour we finally received the menu upon request, the food came soon, but one meal (of 2) was brought incorrectly. So go back and wait again. After the meal, the waitress only came to pay after repeated requests. But the very beautiful location makes it all acceptable.
