We were there for breakfast. The buffet cost a good €15 per person, which was a bit of a mouthful. But for what was on offer, it was a hefty price. It was amazing what they served.

We had a meeting, and my request for a table I had reserved online in a quieter area rather than in the middle of the hustle and bustle was ignored. It wouldn't have been possible for two people, even though there were several waiters behind the counter who seemed to be just cleaning. Shortly afterward, more guests were seated in the quieter area. It was a strange situation. The atmosphere was very loud, as everything at the counter was very thin. The food was well below average for the price. It was difficult to reach by phone. I've experienced much better results at the ALEX in Potsdam. It's a shame.

We went there spontaneously on a Friday evening because we still wanted a cocktail and a waffle. It took about 20 minutes for someone to come to our table, and the place was normally busy. The waffle wasn't crispy, and the chocolate it came with on the menu was more of an accessory. The scoop of ice cream was completely forgotten, even though it was ordered. The Tequila Sunrise was sour?! Why? The Sex on the Beach was way too sweet for that; there was definitely too much peach juice (syrup) in it, no idea. In any case, it tasted like a lot of peaches. Dear Alex team, maybe we should do another cocktail course. Regarding cleanliness, the restroom was a disgrace, no toilet paper!!! The soap was empty. And the stairs to the restroom were so filthy. Even when it's busy, a staircase inside doesn't look like this. Sorry, but that's just not acceptable. The waiters were overwhelmed; the tables weren't cleared, even though we walked past several times with empty trays. Too bad. Dear Alex Team, I really hope you're reading this. After my last review addressed the restroom situation, I was hoping something would happen in that direction. Last Thursday, I was with you again, and what can I say? It's a real nuisance to have to go to your restroom. The store wasn't very busy, so the ladies and gentlemen behind the counter had time to chat and joke around. But taking care of the restrooms wasn't an option. Maybe the health department or the trade inspectorate should visit your store. What's that filthy sponge on the sink? It's secured with cable ties!!! Disgusting! It was sticky to the floor, and the toilet paper was in shreds in every stall. Nothing has changed.

Friendly and fast service, and the wait time was okay. The food is great and offers an interesting but pleasant mix. And just over 30 euros for a meal, a dessert, and two drinks is perfectly reasonable.

The cocktails are highly recommended...and there are also other variations. We only ate two snacks, and they were good.

I'm very satisfied. The food was really delicious (I had a veggie burger and my mom had a chicken burger). The vegetables were fresh and the sauces were very good. Unfortunately, the deep fryer wasn't working that day, but a server kindly pointed this out to us. The burger alone was enough in the end, though. The bun was also great—not too crispy and not too soft. They also have a wide selection of drinks, so there's something for everyone. In summary, I highly recommend Alex!!! ☺️

We were made to wait 20 minutes, even though the waitresses were near us twice, looked at us, and then left again. We vacation here once a year and have been to Alex every year and have always been satisfied. This year, the service leaves a lot to be desired. Of the total of eight times this month, where we usually spent €50-60 between the two of us, I think that's a real shame. Under these circumstances, we will avoid going to this restaurant again.

We've been to "Alex" in Rostock several times in the last few weeks and have always been very satisfied. Today, however, the service wasn't so great. Our food was brought to our table by a waiter who was obviously not enjoying his job at all. The plates were held out to us very listlessly for us to place at our seats. His gaze wasn't on us, though; instead, he was looking around the room with boredom. No eye contact, no pleases or thank yous. He seemed as if he would have preferred to throw the plates at us. Absolutely unacceptable!!! You should have a modicum of politeness when working in the restaurant industry. And we're really understanding about the lack of staff and the resulting increased workload. It was particularly unfortunate that we had raved about "Alex" to our friends. Well, the food was excellent as always, and the ambiance is fantastic too! We'll try again sometime!

A truly fantastic breakfast brunch offering; we were thrilled! We're looking forward to our next visit.

Unfortunately, my partner and I didn't have a good impression of Alex just a week ago. It's summer right now, so any cafe is actually inviting to linger. We had time to pass the time and only wanted a quick drink on this warm day. We sat outside and waited. Unfortunately, even after 20 minutes, we weren't served, so we ordered a menu at another table to avoid wasting any more time. After about half an hour, someone came. We ordered right away: a non-alcoholic wheat beer and a house iced tea. After another 20 minutes, the table next to us, who had ordered with us, had already received their drinks, and then our drinks arrived. Unfortunately, all of this left a somewhat negative impression. In total, we waited 50 minutes to receive only a beer and an iced tea. We decided not to have a small snack. Overall, we had the feeling that working in the service department was considered a bad thing that day. There's so much complaining going on in the restaurant industry at the moment: everything is getting more expensive, there are fewer guests... and so on... but sorry, we'll forego another visit here for now.

We were very disappointed. We were there for lunch. Unfortunately, my partner didn't get what he ordered. I had pasta with pesto and arugula. The pasta was just swimming in oil, and the arugula was completely wilted. Not very appetizing and very disappointing for the price :/

Since I'm allergic to carrots, I asked them to leave them out when ordering. Unfortunately, even on the second attempt, they weren't able to serve the food carrot-free. Allergies don't seem to be taken seriously here. That can sometimes end badly.

A very good breakfast for the second time. Delicious, varied, and super friendly staff, although a bit overwhelmed at times (I think they're short-staffed - it's the case everywhere). However, I wouldn't recommend anyone have breakfast there on Sundays, as we always have a hard time getting a table, and I plan to come back often. So, everyone is welcome to have a nice breakfast there, but not when I go on Sunday at 11 a.m. 😉 Kiss your eyes.. 👀

We spontaneously stopped by last night with four girls. We had to wait almost 40 minutes for drinks, even though it wasn't that busy! As an appetizer, we ordered pizza rolls to snack on, which tasted completely disappointing – the rolls were empty, with no filling, and no topping. By pizza rolls, I mean filled rolls with cheese/ham or cheese/salami... the price was €6 for the six dry "Knack&Back" rolls. First of all: the waitress (a blonde lady with dreadlocks) was very, very nice and attentive. She couldn't be blamed for any mistakes in the kitchen, so I'd like to commend her for the lovely service. The main course wasn't at all what you'd expect from the menu, and rather disappointing... The Piccata Milanese consisted of "chicken schnitzels" like you'd buy for kids from the frozen food section... The currywurst was okay... The cheeseburger tasted just a 1/10, and the Linguine Buratta was a 5/10 - very pesto-heavy but too mildly seasoned... Unlike breakfast and brunch, which I can highly recommend, we can't recommend anything for dinner here.

Unfortunately, the staff were very rude and the service was very poor. Starting with being seated upon entry, which took 10 minutes before anyone even spoke to us. Then we had to wait an hour for the starter and another hour for the main course, where the wrong food was served. Then, after paying, the half-left plate was cleared away without asking. Unfortunately, I absolutely do not recommend it.

This is where our sister meeting takes place, unfortunately far too rarely. We always come for breakfast; the buffet is always excellent, and the staff is always friendly, helpful, and courteous. The noise level is naturally quite high with so many people, but you get used to it over time when you're involved in the conversation. We always enjoy coming back.

No space given even though there were seats available. When asked, no explanation was given other than "There are no seats available."

Every time I visit Rostock, Alex is on the agenda. The service is very good and the food is delicious. The drinks menu also offers a variety of delicious treats, which my girls really enjoy.

We were at Alex in the evening with six people and had reserved a table in advance. The restaurant was busy, the ambiance was modern and new, and the noise level was enormous. Unfortunately, we had to wait almost 1.5 hours for our main courses; the service seemed to struggle to keep up. The dishes were tasty, but the prices were high for the portion sizes.

An absolutely disappointing experience. Even the start was frustrating. A table of four had to share a menu. The wait was far too long before someone even came to take our drink orders – and then it felt like an eternity until the drinks finally arrived. The service was inattentive and almost annoyed. I ordered a steak medium-rare and was served a well-done, dry piece of meat. Not a bit pink, completely overcooked. Of course, I sent it back straight away – that simply shouldn't happen in a restaurant, especially not at these prices! Speaking of prices: Pretty high for what you get. The portions are absolutely average, nothing special. If I'm going to spend a lot of money, I expect the corresponding quality – and that simply wasn't there here. I'm not just disappointed, I'm really angry. This was my first and definitely last time at ALEX. If you value good service, proper food and good value for money, you should definitely go somewhere else.

I don't understand the bad reviews. Six of us went there for breakfast, and I think I can say for all six of us that we were very satisfied. The food tasted really good and the selection was perfect. I'm really picky when it comes to breakfast, but I can't say anything bad here. The only thing that bothered me was that it was loud. It wasn't that busy, though. The music and chatter was just too much in the old days. Apart from that, the atmosphere is really nice and the place is beautifully decorated. The service was perfectly fine. Friendly, and we never had to wait long (when ordering, being served, or paying). So, a buffet breakfast is definitely worth it. But reserving a table is recommended! 😉

First of all, the lady with the dreadlocks is the most unprofessional and unfriendly waitress I've experienced in a long time. She doesn't belong in the restaurant business. Just like the entire "Alex" establishment. The food, which is also completely overpriced, should definitely not be ordered when you're hungry, and especially not in a hurry. The portions are ridiculously small and still take over an hour to serve. But the preparation couldn't have taken that long, as several of our group's dishes were already cold. Now, to the next point: The place, especially the outdoor area, is not at all designed for larger groups, and the resulting small group tables are also treated like individual tables. The outdoor decor also left a lot to be desired, and the admittedly beautifully designed menu obscures the limited variety available here. Now for the food: The salads come without dressing, the schnitzels are ridiculously tiny (palm-sized!), the advertised braised onions are kindly thrown carelessly onto the schnitzel, stem-on, and the plates are carelessly garnished and empty. Instead, you get stupid plastic cutlery packs, of which there are far too few, and exclusive napkins, which you have to ask for separately. After the meal (which you wait over an hour for), you have to wait another hour before you're asked about any other requests or new drinks. I don't understand how this restaurant got more than 4 stars, since the service was even better at the kebab shop around the corner, where, by the way, you inevitably have to go afterwards to satisfy your still-hungry appetite. You feel downright cheated at "Alex," and no one should visit this restaurant.

What a shame! I stopped here for an iced coffee. The menu offers an iced coffee that can be ordered vegan. According to the menu, it consists of coffee, two scoops of bourbon vanilla or chocolate, coffee crumble, and whipped cream. I got a glass of plain, cold black coffee with a careless, half-melted scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. That's it. I wonder what exactly you're paying €6.40 for here, and why the menu advertises something different than what you actually get.

We (two) were there on a normal Saturday lunchtime at 12 noon. It wasn't busy inside. Nevertheless, it took at least 20 minutes for anyone to come to us. It wasn't busy and there was zero stress. There was no greeting. We ordered two iced teas and two schnitzels. After 25 minutes, the food arrived. No sign of drinks. They were only brought after I pointed them out, and then considerably later. And there was nothing about this drink that took longer to serve. My friend's food... came right back out, which is a sign of old grease. That's unacceptable at this time of night. And when I explained my complaint, the employee hid and left it to another colleague. To say the service was poor is an understatement. There was no service! There was no communication either. Not even an apology for the behavior. The Alex has been known and loved for ages. But with such behavior and a lack of everything, they can't bring the year to a close.

The food was okay—tasted okay, but nothing special. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired: Our orders were sometimes taken incorrectly, the drinks took a very long time to arrive, the table wasn't cleared during the entire visit, and the server was unfriendly. Overall, a mediocre visit—with better service, they certainly could have done better.

Was there on Sunday and it wasn't even full outside, maybe 10 guests, but you still had to wait 30 minutes until someone finally came. In that time, 4 guests left because nobody came and the waiters were just standing around inside.

The ambiance and decor are modern and very appealing. We sat outside on a sunny day, though. The price-performance ratio is outrageous, though. The Caesar salad consisted almost entirely of lettuce, and you can add chicken for an extra charge, but what you get is truly ridiculous. They put a huge amount of ice cubes in the 0.5-liter spritzer to fill the glass, which makes it taste rather watery.

Unfortunately, we regulars aren't particularly fond of the redesigned ALEX anymore. Did that have to happen? The previous ambiance was stylish and warm, now you sit like you're sitting in an IKEA showroom with a pointless mix of decor. A matter of taste, okay. But at the same time, the restaurant's price-performance ratio is becoming increasingly skewed. For example, we were there on Whitsun Sunday in the early evening; the place was half empty, but the noise level was still immense. The drinks took what felt like an eternity to arrive at our table, and the food was disappointing. We opted for two different schnitzel dishes. The schnitzels were tiny and a joke for €18.30 and €17.90 respectively! To keep it under control, the fries and fried potatoes were simply spread out across the plate; the finely shredded side salad easily fit on a single tablespoon. Some of the drink prices are just as abysmal. As a precaution, they're listed on the website's soft drink menu without any information about their ingredients. So: at least we'll eat somewhere else in the future.

A very nicely decorated and centrally located restaurant. Very friendly and customer-oriented service, with fast service. The vegetarian selection is okay, but could be more imaginative. The food arrived quickly, but unfortunately, my salad was swimming in dressing and was also very unimaginative (Cesar salad) – there's definitely room for improvement. The pasta was good and the ice cream sundae was delicious too. A small downside: the waffles were really old; the kitchen shouldn't have put them on the plate. I thought the prices were okay, but for Rostock, they were a bit steep for the food on offer. So: Do ​​something with the menu, serve fresh food instead of mush and stale stuff, and then things will get better with the neighbors!

Service: Brought more than ordered, and then a pissed-off look because you don't take it anyway. Atmosphere: (outside) no different than anywhere else. Food: Sorry, but if I order a burger for over €15, where the side (fries) costs almost €4 extra (for a small portion), then I at least expect the meat to come from the supermarket without being pre-formed. The meat is extremely tightly pressed, very light and very bland, and the perfect round shape you'd expect from the shrink-wrapped meat patties you'd find in supermarkets. The bacon was sometimes overcooked and therefore very hard. Conclusion: The price for the food is unjustified, and over €4 for a small 0.33 Coke is clearly too much. Sorry, but I'm very disappointed. There are clearly better alternatives in Rostock.

Breakfast was good until 12 o'clock, croissant, sparkling wine and the highlight was superfood latte

I just love having breakfast at Cafe Alex. But it’s better to book a table in advance, because there are always a lot of people. The downside is that the service is slow, but overall everything is great and of course I will come there again❤️

Das Ambiente ist schön-das Essen war leider nicht so toll. Ich hatte einen Burger-als dieser serviert wurde und ich ihn anschnitt, fiel mir gleich auf, dass das Patty nicht selbstgemacht war. Es war wahrscheinlich ein vorgefertigtes gekauftes Patty-ein NoGo! Geht gar nicht-von einem Restaurant erwarte ich, dass ein Patty aus frischem Rindfleisch selbst gemacht wird. Ich erwähnte das dann auch gegenüber der Bedienung und die Ausrede war, dass man bei der Menge, die jeden Tag benötigt wird, die Pattys vorfertigt. Wie bitte? Was für Arbeit macht denn bitte das abwiegen und formen eines Pattys-zumal es dafür sogar schon Hilfen gibt. Also das geht gar nicht und hat auch nichts mit der Qualität des „alten“ Alex gemein. Allgemein waren auch die Preise nicht angemessen. Ein weiteres Minus ist der Zustand/Geruch der Toiletten.

Unfortunately, expectations were not met. Smoking is allowed everywhere outside. The interior is relatively loud, but the decoration is something. We waited over 20 minutes for a coke and water and the store was at most 1/3 full. At some point the lukewarm sweet potato lentil soup also arrived. This was delicious, only the container was hotter than the soup itself. Then we had cheeseburgers. Taking a ready-made patty out of the freezer for that price is a bit cheeky. As Rostock residents, we wanted to try out the new Alex. That was the last time.

After the remodel, the room looks much more attractive. I'd love to come back

Probably the friendliest staff here in the north of Germany. A great cocktail list and a very decent menu. Beautiful interior, large halls and terraces, as cold as it is - they will give out a blanket. The mode of operation until late - which cannot help but please.

Restaurant was remodeled some time ago. Is cozy. The food tastes good. You only get ripped off when it comes to drinks. 0.2l juice for 4.30 euros (see photo). That's twice as expensive as a beer (0.5l for 5.30 euros)

Das Essen und der Service waren super. Aber als wir nachfragten ob man reservieren kann, kam die Antwort nur Online. Das was wir auch getan hatten. 2 Anfragen und jedesmal wir melden uns zeitnah zurück! Wir wollten für 15 Hochzeitsgäste reservieren. 8 Tage später, es gab keinen Rückruf!!!! Sehr schade, Es gibt noch andere Gastronomien !!!!

A very nice restaurant, but unfortunately the rest isn't quite right. The drink was so sweet that you could hardly drink it, some of the food was missing and you can't get staff to tell you about it, you also have to wait forever until someone comes to pay, and the restaurant wasn't full at the time. I was very disappointed last year and thought I would give the Alex another chance after the renovation, but unfortunately everything is the same. Too bad.

We had been back to Alex for a long time, we wanted to revel in old times and good citizens. We were very disappointed, after 1 1/2 hours of waiting (arrived at 6:30 p.m., ordered, received food at 7:57 p.m.) the food came partly lukewarm, the vegetables in the bowl were very onion-heavy and overcooked. In addition, the prices for the portions were more than shocking. SPICY NACHO AND FRIES DELUXE as small as the palm of my hand. I'll post photos. Since it was so full, the waiters had a lot to do, there were only 3 employees in the kitchen, they couldn't get the situation under control, so that questions/complaints were given friendly, forgiving explanations by our waitress, but the situation couldn't be resolved. I paid 43 euros for a lassange, fries, starter soup, nachos and two lemonades. With the burger there was no salad or anything like that as a visual addition on the plate, fries had to be paid for separately. That didn't exist "before". I have no idea when the upheaval came. I am a guest in many different chains, brands and star restaurants, the one at Alex in Rostock is not in the price/performance ratio. I will also contact the branch, I'm looking forward to hearing what they say. It's a shame, we used to go there with joy, hunger and good food, today was our very last time. And dear management; if staff could be missing would be a possibility; Halving the menu or not filling all the tables. But of course the money doesn't flow into the pockets, which are already full to the brim. The staff can't do anything about situations like this. Others make money here.

There were two of us as there wasn't much going on and it was rather quiet. Which of course made a good impression. We had made a reservation, entered the restaurant and stood there and were observed (in our opinion) what we were doing in a very derogatory manner by two young employees. Then we went to the bar and mentioned that we had reserved. Rather annoyed, the young man came away from the bar, went to the book and then willingly showed us our place again. There was already a situation for us as to whether we should not go again. We sat there for 2 minutes and then a waitress came and when I said I needed a moment they rolled their eyes and gave me an annoyed “okay”. After about 10 minutes she came back with the words: “Are you finally ready?” I don’t know, you can’t do it. It's a shame because the drinks and the food were perfect (maybe a little too many tomato pieces in the pasta sauce, but that would be very picky to complain about), the waffles were very fresh and great. The cook does a priority job. Maybe the employees didn't feel like it that evening or had already had bad situations before, but I would hope that for next time they save themselves certain gestures or statements.

The Alex was still full of breakfast guests. We were lucky and a table was cleared. Ordering took a while, but dishes and drinks were brought quickly. Prices typical of the Alex chain are a little higher than the portion size, but the quality and taste are good. Everything there for meat and plant eaters. Also with hot drinks and desserts. Dogs allowed, disabled toilet available.

The restaurant, the bar... yes, I was fascinated, but I was disappointed by the toilets, they looked bad, some of them had no paper... sorry, there is a lot of room for improvement, especially when it's only the afternoon.

I was very surprised by the lavish selection of spreads. There is everything for those with a sweet tooth as well as for those with a hearty heart. Overall, I would have liked a little more fresh fruit selection. Unfortunately I only saw the fruit salad. The service was solid. I had to wait quite a long time for our drinks and finally for the bill. When it came to the bill, I even had the impression that we had been forgotten. The restaurant was anything but full. Nevertheless, we were satisfied with our first visit to Alex and would love to come back👍🏻

Great lively cafe on the market. The map is pleasingly extensive and appealing. The service was very good today. The atmosphere is very cozy and tasteful. Great breakfast, great service, everything is perfect here!

Very nice restaurant, 100% everyone will find something on the menu. Very tasty and friendly staff. If I'm in the area again, it's definitely a place I'll visit again.

“Stopped by ALEX Rostock for lunch, and wow, what a treat! The burger was perfection, the pasta was a love letter to carbs, and don’t get me started on the dessert—I’m still dreaming about it. The ambience? Think cozy-meets-chic, like your living room decided to up its game. The staff were super friendly and didn’t even flinch at my endless questions about the menu (indecisiveness is a curse, okay?). If you’re in Rostock and not eating here, you’re seriously missing out!”

The extra thick fries convinced me. You wouldn't believe how many other run-of-the-mill restaurants only offer the standard used oil sticks. At Alex, on the other hand, you get well-formed, juicy and delicious thick fries.

This isn't the first time we've had breakfast at Alex. The conversion was successful. Bright and friendly. The service staff is attentive and professional. We would have liked a little more fresh fruit. We'll definitely be back.

A very, very nice restaurant in Rostock. Definitely in the top 5. Price performance is very, very good. The ambience is wonderful. The service was very polite and accommodating. The food was high quality and beautifully prepared. I'm already looking forward to the next visit :) Thank you for the lovely evening
