Fröhliches Personal und das Essen schmeckt immer sehr gut

Waren an einem Samstagabend später zu zweit gegen 21 Uhr etwas essen. Das alles war zu dieser Zeit eher spärlich besucht. Der freundliche Service nahm die Getränke und Speisen zügig und gleichzeitig auf. Zuerst kam aber das Essen und das blieb auch längere Zeit so. Trotz mehrerer Kräfte hinter der Bar warteten scheinbar nicht nur wir auf Getränkenachschub. Trotz Entschuldigung ist das natürlich auffällig und treibt den Gesamteindruck. Das Essen war OK, die Portionsgrößen hatten wir anderes in Erinnerung und sind ausbaufähig.

Ein sehr schickes Ambiente, eine schön ausgestattete Bar und genügend Platz. Leider gibt es ein paar Dinge, die mir nicht gefallen haben. Der Fußboden war klebrig und auch der Tischfuß stark verschmutzt. Auf der Sitzbank sitzt man sehr tief und auf Dauer eher unbequem. Das Essen selbst war zwar sehr schön angerichtet, leider aber nicht mehr richtig warm. Der Kaffee wurde in einer heißen Tasse serviert, war jedoch kalt. In der Pfeffermühle befand sich alter Pfeffer, der bereits hart wie Stein war. So bleibt die Bewertung leider etwas zwiespältig, da Ambiente und Präsentation überzeugen konnten, die Details jedoch verbessert werden sollten.

Freundliche Bedienung, super leckeres Frühstück, große Auswahl, da ist für jeden was dabei

Moin, Ich versuche mich kurz zu halten. Essen: Portionen ein Witz, zu klein und von den Hauptkomponenten so gut wie nichts auf dem Teller zu finden. Bruschetta als Vorspeise würde ich eher „Tomate al pesce“ nennen. Service: Stets bemüht trifft es am besten, Ich zähle ca. 20 Personen im gesamten Restaurant, Wartezeit exorbitant lange und Bestellungen einfach vergessen. Für die Baustelle ringsum kann der Betreiber nichts. Alles in allem, vielen Dank für diese negativ Erfahrung.

Leider wurde ich gestern so sehr enttäuscht, dass ich diese Bewertung einfach abgeben muss um vielleicht andere Gäste zu sensibilisieren. Ich hatte einen Cheesburger bestellt und ca. 2/3 davon gegessen, bis ein Datumsschild in meinem Burger erschien. Ich habe am 01.06.26 das Restaurant besucht und das Ablaufdatum war vom 30.05.2026. Der Kellner hat es natürlich sofort an die Küche gegeben und sich entschuldigt. Das Schild wäre angeblich nicht vom Burger gewesen, sondern von dem Behältnis mit den Gurken. Fand ich komisch, denn Gurken waren auch auf dem Burger und macht mir keinen Unterschied. Ich musst den Burger nicht bezahlen, was für mein Gefühl aber auch nicht geholfen hat. Echt Schade und werde mir zukünftig ein anderes Restaurant suchen müssen. Es kann immer mal was passieren, doch so ein großes Schild im Essen habe ich noch nicht erlebt.

Super tolles Essen und Personal

Ich war mit meinem Partner da und wollten ein leckeres Getränk trinken. Nach knapp 20 min ist mein Partner zu der Bedienung gegangen und hatte sie nett gefragt gehabt ob wir auch was bestellen können (sie hat ständig zu uns geguckt gehabt also hatte sie auch gesehen das wir dort schon etwas länger warten) sie meinte sie kommt gleich zu uns und wo wir sitzen. Anstatt uns zu bedienen hatte sie andere bedient ( an sich überhaupt nichts schlimmes) aber als eine nette Frau sie nochmal darauf aufmerksam machte das wir schon länger sitzen und warten hatte sie es nur belächelt. Ende vom Lied wir wurden eiskalt von der Kellnerin ignoriert warum auch immer. Letztendlich sind wir aufgestanden und gegangen sehr schade.

Wir hatten für einen Junggesellenabschied mit neun Personen ein gemeinsames Frühstück im Alex am Neuen Markt in Rostock reserviert und uns sehr auf diesen besonderen Morgen gefreut. Umso größer war am Ende leider die Enttäuschung. Da sich der Großteil unserer Gruppe durch die gemeinsame Anreise um etwa 10 Minuten verspätete, haben wir extra bereits eine Teilnehmerin unseres JGAs vorab ins Restaurant geschickt. Sie war 10 vor der Reservierung, also pünktlich vor Ort und wollte aus reiner Höflichkeit und Rücksichtnahme lediglich Bescheid geben, dass der Rest der Gruppe wenige Minuten später eintreffen würde. Für uns war das selbstverständlich, gerade an einem belebten Pfingstwochenende wollten wir transparent kommunizieren. Umso unverständlicher war die Reaktion der Schichtleiterin. Obwohl bereits eine Person unserer Gruppe anwesend war und mehrfach freundlich nachgefragt wurde, ob man den Tisch bitte noch kurz halten könne, wurde sehr deutlich gemacht, dass dies „kein Problem“ sei, den Tisch jetzt neu zu vergeben, da man am Pfingstwochenende ohnehin voll ausgelastet sei. Auf Verständnis oder Entgegenkommen traf unsere Teilnehmerin leider überhaupt nicht. Besonders enttäuschend war dabei nicht nur die Entscheidung selbst, sondern vor allem die Art der Kommunikation. Das Gespräch mit der Schichtleiterin war sehr unfreundlich und hat sie emotional stark getroffen. Gerade weil sie lediglich freundlich Bescheid geben wollte, blieb bei uns allen das Gefühl zurück, dass unsere Höflichkeit am Ende eher gegen uns verwendet wurde. Für eine Gruppe von neun Personen ist es an einem Pfingstsamstag zudem nahezu unmöglich, spontan noch eine Alternative für ein gemeinsames Frühstück zu finden. Entsprechend groß waren Stress, Enttäuschung und Unverständnis innerhalb unserer Gruppe. Zum Glück wurden wir anschließend in der Likörfabrik unglaublich herzlich aufgenommen. Dort hat man uns spontan einen Platz ermöglicht, uns sehr freundlich empfangen und sogar direkt mit einem kleinen Trost-Sekt begrüßt. Das Frühstück war hervorragend und der Service aufmerksam und warmherzig. Die Likörfabrik hat unseren Morgen letztlich gerettet und dafür sind wir sehr dankbar. Ein großes Dankeschön an dieses tolle Team, so stellt man sich Gastfreundschaft vor.

Wir waren schon sehr oft im Alex. Leider hat alles sehr nachgelassen, besonders die Freundlichkeit. Wir wollten letzte Woche erneut im Alex essen. Leider wurden wir durch die Kellnerin extrem unfreundlich begrüßt und mussten dann auch wieder gehen. Zum Glück gibt es in Rostock sehr viele andere Lokale, sodass es kein großer Verlust ist, dort nicht mehr essen zu gehen.

Ich war sehr enttäuscht. Nach dem Essen war mir übel. Die Kellner waren sehr gestresst und unfreundlich.

Extrem lange Wartezeiten auf die Getränke am Samstagabend gehabt. Obwohl der Laden/ Terrasse nicht voll war. Zusätzlich sollte die Bedienung auch die Scherben ordentlich wegmachen, wenn ihr schon was beim abdecken bei einem Tisch draußen was runter fällt. Paar Scherben sind deutlich liegen geblieben, sowas geht gar nicht!!!

Das Essen und die Getränke im Alex Rostock sind stets super hergerichtet und lecker. Die Mitarbeitenden in der Küche machen ihren Job sehr gut. Ich habe immer sehr gut gegessen und getrunken. Toll. Der Service im Alex Rostock ist jedoch immer eine Überraschungstüte. Er schwankt zwischen sehr gut und Service mit erheblichem Verbesserungspotential. Es hängt offenbar vom Zufall ab, ob motivierte Servicekräfte Dienst haben oder welche Tagesform die Mitarbeitenden haben. Hierbei muss ich erwähnen, dass das Servicepersonal immer nett ist. Öfters wartet man jedoch sehr lange auf die Bedienung, Bestellung oder auf die Rechnung, egal wie voll der Laden ist. Während eine Person den Service macht stehen 4 am Tresen. Hier könnten ab und an die Prozesse noch optimiert werden.

Sehr unfreundlich. Dort gehen wir nie wieder hin. Wir sind zu einem anderen Café gegangen! Respektloser Umgang mit Kunden.

Waren heute zum Frühstück dort. Essen war sehr ausgewogen und auch lecker. Preis ist auch in Ordnung für dieses essen und das Angebot. Leider dauert es teilweise echt lange bis ein Kellnee dich bemerkt und als wir zahlen wollten hat es bestimmt 10 min gedauert bis jemand kam, obwohl nichts los war das war etwas schade ansonsten wirklich empfehlenswert. Gern wieder

Wir wollten an einem Montag Nachmittag mit 10 Personen einkehren. Es gab auch einen freien Tisch mit 8 Stühlen an den man ohne großen Aufwand und Störungen anderer Gäste hätte zwei weitere Stühle ranstellen können! Aber: nein das geht nicht ! Zwei Personen der Gruppe sollten an einem entfernten Tisch Platz nehmen! Auch nach mehreren freundlichen Anfragen an die „Service“ Dame und dem Angebot wir würden den Transport der Stühle übernehmen natürlich auch den Rücktransport, kein Entgegenkommen! Also verließen wir alle gemeinsam wieder das Restaurant! Unglaublich so etwas ! Man kann sich kaum vorstellen, das dem das Management hier zugestimmt hätte. Und warum hört man überall der Gastromie ginge es so schlecht? Der Alex Gruppe offenbar nicht … satt und gerne auf 10 gute Zahler verzichtend?!? Natürlich wird auch diese Lokalität mit anderen Gruppen nun nicht mehr besucht !

Waren heute Essen und war super. Nette Bedienung, kurze Wartezeit aufs Essen und das Essen hat super geschmeckt. Zum Ende hin wurde es etwas lauter aber es kamen auch immer mehr Gäste also selbstverständlich. Werden wieder dort Essen! Sehr zu empfehlen.

Vor zwei Wochen besuchten wir Ihr Restaurant mit unserer Familie, insgesamt zehn Personen, darunter Kinder, zum Abendessen. Leider waren die Schnitzel, die wir serviert bekamen, die schlechtesten, die wir je gegessen haben. Ich bin der Meinung, dass ich zu Hause bessere Schnitzel zubereiten kann, da ich mich als Profi in der Schnitzelzubereitung bezeichnen würde. Die Soße war ebenfalls enttäuschend und die Bowl war schrecklich. Das gesamte Essen war kalt, und obwohl das Restaurant nicht voll besetzt war, mussten wir fast 45 Minuten auf unsere Bestellung warten. Ich werde Ihr Restaurant voraussichtlich nicht noch einmal besuchen.

Sind kürzlich zu dritt zum Verweilen eingekehrt und haben uns sofort wohlgefühlt. Die Karte ist übersichtlich mit tollen Angeboten.

Außergewöhnliche Kombination, kein 0/8/15 Frühstück. Ausser den üblichen Verdächtigen Rühr-/Spiegelei und Aufschnitt aller Couleur gab es heute auch ein sehr leckeres Pulled Pork, eine feine Rinderbolognese, Blumenkohl und ein gutes Kartoffellpüree. Alles in Allem eine gelungene Mischung. Ein Glas Orangensaft inklusive- mit einem zusätzlichen Latte Macchiato für 25 Euro pro Person finde ich auch für angemessen. Dieses Jahr wieder hierher gekommen. Riesenauswahl an warmen und kalten Speisen. Sehr leckeres Kartoffelgratin, verschiedene Salate und Gemüse, Rühr- und Spiegelei, Minipfannkuchen, Croissants, Wurst- und Käseplatten, Marmeladen und andere Süßspeisen,... da ist für jeden Geschmack was dabei.

Wor waren als Berliner, das erste mal in Rostock-.- Wir hatten mehr als glück mit dem Wetter, deshalb gerne wieder. Aber heute waren wir bei euch (einer von vielen) und wir hatten einen schönen Abschluss heute gehabt. Morgen geht es leider wieder ab nachhause. Eure Kellner waren sehr aufmerksam und relativ flott. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Eure Barkeeper sind ebenfalls top / super. Hallo wir Klaus und Martina waren heute morgen bei euch Frühstück essen und das nicht zum ersten Mal und immer wieder müssen wir feststellen das gefällt uns immer wieder in allen Bereichen und empfehlen es einfach weiter

Ich liebe es, im Alex Cafe zu frühstücken. Am besten reserviert man vorher, da es immer sehr voll ist. Der Service ist etwas langsam, aber insgesamt ist alles super und ich komme auf jeden Fall wieder.

Essen war gut. Preise sind sehr moderat. Der Laden war sehr gut besucht.

Das ALEX hat leider sehr nachgelassen. Zumindest überzeugte uns der Besuch heute so gar nicht . Der Service überfordert, vergisst Bestellungen (leugnet es dann) wenig flexibel. Als ich meine Kritik dort offen äußerte, hieß es nur " Dafür kann ich auch nichts". Beim Schnitzel kann man wählen ob man Schwein, Hähnchen oder vegane Varianten möchte. Das von mir bestellte Hähnchenschnitzel war leider nur "billiges TK Schnitzel " Bratkartoffeln lagen auch schon länger und waren sehr salzig (Geschmackssache) der beigefügte Salat lieblos Nun sind wir nicht an einer Raststätte sondern im ALEX und dort wird für dieses Schnitzelgericht 18 Euro verlangt. Absolut unverschämt. Den Spinat auf dem Teller meines Kindes habe selbst ich verschmäht, ungewürzt und ungenießbar. Den Wildberry Lillet für 8 Euro fehlt leider auch der lillet um diesen Preis rechtzufertigen. Für mich hat das ALEX seinen Charme und auch das kulinarische Niveau verloren. Für uns war dies der letzte Besuch.

Wir sind bis dato immer gerne im Alex essen gegangen und konnten uns nie beschweren. Das Essen war immer sehr lecker. Heute waren wir erneut hier, hatten nur eine Cola und 2 Iced matcha latte bestellt. Nachdem wir 45 Minuten! warteten, haben wir ganz schlechte Matchas bekommen. Es war eher wie Milch mit minimalen Geschmack. Mein matcha war so pulvrig, das ich ihn nicht trinken konnte und zurückgegeben habe. Der andere Matcha war ähnlich schlecht. Sehr schade, weil eigentlich sind wir sehr gerne hierher gegangen, aber unter den Umständen, werden wir das Alex in Anbetracht der Getränke, zukünftig eher meiden.

Wir waren zum Frühstück hier. Sehr große Auswahl. Es gab Alles, was man zu einem guten Frühstück braucht.

Nicht einladender und nicht lösungsorientierter Service! Gerade draußen platzgenommen. Noch viele Plätze verfügbar verfügbar. Service weist darauf hin, dass wenn man auf diesem Platz sitzt, die anderen Gäste einen Umweg laufen müssen. Warum ist der Platz dann überhaupt bestuhlt? Warum müssen die betroffenenen Gäste dann immernoch über einen Schirmständer steigen? Das geht auch freundlich, lösungsorientiert und einladent.

Online-Reservierung funktioniert super. Hunde sind erlaubt (und !!! drinnen-wie draußen !!!) Willkommen. Sowohl das Frühstücksbuffet in der Woche, als auch Brunchen am Wochenende- & die individuellen und ausgefallenen, leckeren Speisen und Getränke von der Karte sind immer einen Besuch wert. Dann das freundliche und aufmerksame Personal, dazu noch sehr stilvoll-modern eingerichtet, die Preise dafür sind angemessen...alles, was glücklich macht, an einem Ort.

Unglaublich tolles Restaurant mit großer Auswahl und modernen Gerichten. Vor allem die Blaubeerlimonade/der Blaubeereistee und der Caesarwrap mit Süßkartoffelpommes sind sehr zu empfehlen

Wollten einen schönen Abend mit Geschäftspartnern im Alex verbringen und hatten uns sehr darauf gefreut. Kurzfassung: Essen kalt, Service unterirdisch! Leider ein totaler Reinfall. Nie wieder!

Tolle Location, war das letzte Mal vor zehn Jahren hier und seit dem hat sich optisch viel getan. Leider aber auch im Service, grausam . Umorganisiert und es dauerte ewig ein Getränk zu bekommen das nicht mal im Ansatz an alten Zeiten grenzt. Geht gar nicht.

Ich hatte auf ein Neues einen sehr schönen Abend im ALEX. Die außergewöhnliche Getränkekarte überzeugt mich immer wieder und man weiß gar nicht welches tolle Getränk man sich als erstes bestellen soll. Das Essen war ebenfalls sehr lecker. Das Fleisch war auf den Punkt und die Beilage sehr gut. Einziger Kritikpunkt: Die Tomaten auf meiner Bruschetta waren schon ein bisschen „älter“ also nicht mehr ganz so frisch und knackig im Geschmack. Das geht besser. Ein perfektes Sonntagsbrunch-Erlebnis! Brotkorb mit frischem Gebäck Eier in drei Variationen, Kartoffelbeilage nach Wahl, Wurst- und Käsespezialitäten, Salate Gebratener Reis mit Schweinebraten Pfannkuchen mit warmen Kirschen, Obstsalat, Joghurt und Desserts nach Wahl!

Kurzfassung: Die Kellner/in sehr gestresst und lassen viel fallen, Wir hatten 3 alkoholische Getränke, einmal den pina colada, etwas mit Blaubeere Minze und ein Sex on the Beach. Pina colada war sehr stark mit Alkohol und hatt einfach nicht nach Kokosnuss geschmeckt, blaubeer Minze (Namen vergessen) total viele minzblätter und Stängel gefühlte 60% davon , sie verstopfen sich im Strohhalm! Ich bin doch kein Hase, die Blaubeeren haben nur nach Minze geschmeckt so wie alles. Sex on the Beach war wie ein kleines Spaßgetränk für Kinder was du einfach gekauft bekommst. Kaum Alkohol aber es war trotzdem sehr lecker. Würde nicht nochmal kommen sorry

Mega leckeres essen du kannst dort nicht nur lecker Abendessen sondern auch super Frühstücken Riesen Auswahl! Sehr gute Preise Nettes personal geile Cocktails top weiter so

Freundlicher und netter Service, schnelle Bedienung und leckeres Essen, Kaffee und Cocktails.

Ein schönes Restaurant das von Brunch über Kaffee und Kuchen, Snacks und einer Auswahl ansprechender Gerichte fast jeden zufrieden stellen dürfte. Mir gefällt besonders die Auswahl an veganen und vegetarischen Gerichten. Für mich passt alles.

Essen war sehr gut, aber..... Cappuccino für 4,30 Euro war schon sehr wässrige, haben den ersten kritisiert, prompt bekamen wir einen neuen, aber außer gutem Milchschaum war dieser auch nicht besser, trotz "original Italienischer Bohne". Was viel schlimmer hier im Restaurant war, war die Sauberkeit. Die Spinnenweben zogen sich schön von Lampe zu Lampe oder ist das Deckendeko fragt man sich hier 🫣🫣🫣

Das ALEX ist eine gute Möglichkeit um mit mehreren Leuten in der Rostocker Innenstadt einzukehren. Einfache Speisen und gute Cocktails.

Wir waren am 31. Dezember zum Abendessen dort und hatten reserviert. Der Service und das Essen waren hervorragend, alles frisch zubereitet. Könnten Sie bei Gelegenheit bitte Ihre Lampen reinigen? Ansonsten ein tolles Restaurant zum Essen und Entspannen.

A very pleasant place, suitable for all ages. Very friendly staff, delicious food. Excellent cocktails. We'll definitely come back, highly recommended.

I was here with my husband and we had a Sex on the Beach and a Rostocker Pilsner on tap – it was really very good, I can only recommend it 😃👍

I go there with the guys for Sunday brunch every three months. It's always worth it. We always enjoy coming back to Alex. 🍀

We didn't feel welcome. When the waitress finally came to take our order, she commented that she had already seen us, but that there were other guests present. Was that comment really necessary? We think not!

Friendly and attentive service, good selection, tasty food and reasonable value for money.

Everything is great, delicious food, friendly staff and a very nice atmosphere, but I've been trying to call for two weeks to reserve a table and unfortunately haven't received a reply, which is a shame.

Everything was fine. The food was delicious too. The waiter we ordered two Martini Expresses from simply didn't take our order either time... then a very friendly waiter came along and saved the whole situation.

Beautiful atmosphere, delicious desserts, but unfortunately very inattentive service. What a shame!

In short: Food was bad, service was bad, location was bad. The food is expensive, carelessly presented, and unappetizing. I had a burger for €23 including fries, and the meat was a greasy, pre-made patty and undercooked. The entire evening, no one even came by to ask if we were enjoying our meal or if we needed anything else. Even when we finally wanted to pay, after what felt like an eternity of fruitless eye contact, we had to go to the front of the room ourselves because no one seemed to care. The place is quite dark and noisy. We won't be back!

Dear Alex, your service has unfortunately deteriorated significantly. We've eaten at your restaurant three times in the last four weeks, and the service was poor every single time. Waiting 30 minutes for our first drinks is simply unacceptable. Clearing the tables was also a mess, even though the restaurant was only half full. The cocktail we ordered was also rather unappealing and missing some of the most important ingredients. The staff who served us were very friendly, but the service was simply too slow. We would have liked to order another round of drinks, but we couldn't find anyone to take our order.

Nice atmosphere, the food was attractively presented but rather bland in terms of taste. For me, the drink prices are now beyond the pale. €6.20 for a 0.5l Coke and €3.90 for a 0.25l still water are simply outrageous.

We were there today with our one-year-old son and were completely satisfied. There was a great play area for the little one, and a highchair was readily available. The service and the food were, as I've come to expect from Alex, excellent. I can highly recommend it! :)

The restaurant was empty, yet they still asked, "Do you have a reservation?" And this was at 4 p.m.

I was just about to have a coffee there (three people), and even though there were plenty of free seats, the staff turned us away. The reason given was that there were only two of us. It's a shame, as this place looks nice.

The food is good. A great place to visit with children. The price/performance ratio is right.

We were there for breakfast. The buffet cost a good €15 per person, which was a bit of a mouthful. But for what was on offer, it was a hefty price. It was amazing what they served.

We had a meeting, and my request for a table I had reserved online in a quieter area rather than in the middle of the hustle and bustle was ignored. It wouldn't have been possible for two people, even though there were several waiters behind the counter who seemed to be just cleaning. Shortly afterward, more guests were seated in the quieter area. It was a strange situation. The atmosphere was very loud, as everything at the counter was very thin. The food was well below average for the price. It was difficult to reach by phone. I've experienced much better results at the ALEX in Potsdam. It's a shame.

We went there spontaneously on a Friday evening because we still wanted a cocktail and a waffle. It took about 20 minutes for someone to come to our table, and the place was normally busy. The waffle wasn't crispy, and the chocolate it came with on the menu was more of an accessory. The scoop of ice cream was completely forgotten, even though it was ordered. The Tequila Sunrise was sour?! Why? The Sex on the Beach was way too sweet for that; there was definitely too much peach juice (syrup) in it, no idea. In any case, it tasted like a lot of peaches. Dear Alex team, maybe we should do another cocktail course. Regarding cleanliness, the restroom was a disgrace, no toilet paper!!! The soap was empty. And the stairs to the restroom were so filthy. Even when it's busy, a staircase inside doesn't look like this. Sorry, but that's just not acceptable. The waiters were overwhelmed; the tables weren't cleared, even though we walked past several times with empty trays. Too bad. Dear Alex Team, I really hope you're reading this. After my last review addressed the restroom situation, I was hoping something would happen in that direction. Last Thursday, I was with you again, and what can I say? It's a real nuisance to have to go to your restroom. The store wasn't very busy, so the ladies and gentlemen behind the counter had time to chat and joke around. But taking care of the restrooms wasn't an option. Maybe the health department or the trade inspectorate should visit your store. What's that filthy sponge on the sink? It's secured with cable ties!!! Disgusting! It was sticky to the floor, and the toilet paper was in shreds in every stall. Nothing has changed.

Friendly and fast service, and the wait time was okay. The food is great and offers an interesting but pleasant mix. And just over 30 euros for a meal, a dessert, and two drinks is perfectly reasonable.

The cocktails are highly recommended...and there are also other variations. We only ate two snacks, and they were good.

Some of the ingredients on the breakfast buffet were merely discount store quality. The cheese was truly inadequate.

I'm very satisfied. The food was really delicious (I had a veggie burger and my mom had a chicken burger). The vegetables were fresh and the sauces were very good. Unfortunately, the deep fryer wasn't working that day, but a server kindly pointed this out to us. The burger alone was enough in the end, though. The bun was also great—not too crispy and not too soft. They also have a wide selection of drinks, so there's something for everyone. In summary, I highly recommend Alex!!! ☺️

We were made to wait 20 minutes, even though the waitresses were near us twice, looked at us, and then left again. We vacation here once a year and have been to Alex every year and have always been satisfied. This year, the service leaves a lot to be desired. Of the total of eight times this month, where we usually spent €50-60 between the two of us, I think that's a real shame. Under these circumstances, we will avoid going to this restaurant again.

We've been to "Alex" in Rostock several times in the last few weeks and have always been very satisfied. Today, however, the service wasn't so great. Our food was brought to our table by a waiter who was obviously not enjoying his job at all. The plates were held out to us very listlessly for us to place at our seats. His gaze wasn't on us, though; instead, he was looking around the room with boredom. No eye contact, no pleases or thank yous. He seemed as if he would have preferred to throw the plates at us. Absolutely unacceptable!!! You should have a modicum of politeness when working in the restaurant industry. And we're really understanding about the lack of staff and the resulting increased workload. It was particularly unfortunate that we had raved about "Alex" to our friends. Well, the food was excellent as always, and the ambiance is fantastic too! We'll try again sometime!

Friendly and quick staff. Portion sizes could be a bit larger, but still good value for money and very tasty. Beautiful view of the square and St. Mary's Church.

A truly fantastic breakfast brunch offering; we were thrilled! We're looking forward to our next visit.

Unfortunately, my partner and I didn't have a good impression of Alex just a week ago. It's summer right now, so any cafe is actually inviting to linger. We had time to pass the time and only wanted a quick drink on this warm day. We sat outside and waited. Unfortunately, even after 20 minutes, we weren't served, so we ordered a menu at another table to avoid wasting any more time. After about half an hour, someone came. We ordered right away: a non-alcoholic wheat beer and a house iced tea. After another 20 minutes, the table next to us, who had ordered with us, had already received their drinks, and then our drinks arrived. Unfortunately, all of this left a somewhat negative impression. In total, we waited 50 minutes to receive only a beer and an iced tea. We decided not to have a small snack. Overall, we had the feeling that working in the service department was considered a bad thing that day. There's so much complaining going on in the restaurant industry at the moment: everything is getting more expensive, there are fewer guests... and so on... but sorry, we'll forego another visit here for now.

We were very disappointed. We were there for lunch. Unfortunately, my partner didn't get what he ordered. I had pasta with pesto and arugula. The pasta was just swimming in oil, and the arugula was completely wilted. Not very appetizing and very disappointing for the price :/

Since I'm allergic to carrots, I asked them to leave them out when ordering. Unfortunately, even on the second attempt, they weren't able to serve the food carrot-free. Allergies don't seem to be taken seriously here. That can sometimes end badly.

We had a delicious meal there on Tuesday; the food was excellent. We were served courteously and courteously, so we're happy to give it 5 stars and would gladly come back.

Fast service and a nice atmosphere.

We were here for the breakfast buffet. For €15 per person, you get absolutely everything. It was incredibly delicious, beautifully presented, and the staff was attentive. We really enjoyed it!

There are definitely better burgers for less money. Overall, the price-performance ratio isn't the best in my opinion. Ketchup and mayo cost extra, and the fries are relatively small.

After the renovation, the ambiance is even better. Delicious drinks and decent cake. The waiters are barking at each other at the bar, so the guests can hear them. Really professional. Not.

It's always a pleasure to be there. From brunch to lunch to a good cocktail in the evening. Very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

A very good breakfast for the second time. Delicious, varied, and super friendly staff, although a bit overwhelmed at times (I think they're short-staffed - it's the case everywhere). However, I wouldn't recommend anyone have breakfast there on Sundays, as we always have a hard time getting a table, and I plan to come back often. So, everyone is welcome to have a nice breakfast there, but not when I go on Sunday at 11 a.m. 😉 Kiss your eyes.. 👀

We spontaneously stopped by last night with four girls. We had to wait almost 40 minutes for drinks, even though it wasn't that busy! As an appetizer, we ordered pizza rolls to snack on, which tasted completely disappointing – the rolls were empty, with no filling, and no topping. By pizza rolls, I mean filled rolls with cheese/ham or cheese/salami... the price was €6 for the six dry "Knack&Back" rolls. First of all: the waitress (a blonde lady with dreadlocks) was very, very nice and attentive. She couldn't be blamed for any mistakes in the kitchen, so I'd like to commend her for the lovely service. The main course wasn't at all what you'd expect from the menu, and rather disappointing... The Piccata Milanese consisted of "chicken schnitzels" like you'd buy for kids from the frozen food section... The currywurst was okay... The cheeseburger tasted just a 1/10, and the Linguine Buratta was a 5/10 - very pesto-heavy but too mildly seasoned... Unlike breakfast and brunch, which I can highly recommend, we can't recommend anything for dinner here.

Unfortunately, the staff were very rude and the service was very poor. Starting with being seated upon entry, which took 10 minutes before anyone even spoke to us. Then we had to wait an hour for the starter and another hour for the main course, where the wrong food was served. Then, after paying, the half-left plate was cleared away without asking. Unfortunately, I absolutely do not recommend it.

This is where our sister meeting takes place, unfortunately far too rarely. We always come for breakfast; the buffet is always excellent, and the staff is always friendly, helpful, and courteous. The noise level is naturally quite high with so many people, but you get used to it over time when you're involved in the conversation. We always enjoy coming back.

No space given even though there were seats available. When asked, no explanation was given other than "There are no seats available."

Every time I visit Rostock, Alex is on the agenda. The service is very good and the food is delicious. The drinks menu also offers a variety of delicious treats, which my girls really enjoy.

We were at Alex in the evening with six people and had reserved a table in advance. The restaurant was busy, the ambiance was modern and new, and the noise level was enormous. Unfortunately, we had to wait almost 1.5 hours for our main courses; the service seemed to struggle to keep up. The dishes were tasty, but the prices were high for the portion sizes.

An absolutely disappointing experience. Even the start was frustrating. A table of four had to share a menu. The wait was far too long before someone even came to take our drink orders – and then it felt like an eternity until the drinks finally arrived. The service was inattentive and almost annoyed. I ordered a steak medium-rare and was served a well-done, dry piece of meat. Not a bit pink, completely overcooked. Of course, I sent it back straight away – that simply shouldn't happen in a restaurant, especially not at these prices! Speaking of prices: Pretty high for what you get. The portions are absolutely average, nothing special. If I'm going to spend a lot of money, I expect the corresponding quality – and that simply wasn't there here. I'm not just disappointed, I'm really angry. This was my first and definitely last time at ALEX. If you value good service, proper food and good value for money, you should definitely go somewhere else.

I don't understand the bad reviews. Six of us went there for breakfast, and I think I can say for all six of us that we were very satisfied. The food tasted really good and the selection was perfect. I'm really picky when it comes to breakfast, but I can't say anything bad here. The only thing that bothered me was that it was loud. It wasn't that busy, though. The music and chatter was just too much in the old days. Apart from that, the atmosphere is really nice and the place is beautifully decorated. The service was perfectly fine. Friendly, and we never had to wait long (when ordering, being served, or paying). So, a buffet breakfast is definitely worth it. But reserving a table is recommended! 😉

First of all, the lady with the dreadlocks is the most unprofessional and unfriendly waitress I've experienced in a long time. She doesn't belong in the restaurant business. Just like the entire "Alex" establishment. The food, which is also completely overpriced, should definitely not be ordered when you're hungry, and especially not in a hurry. The portions are ridiculously small and still take over an hour to serve. But the preparation couldn't have taken that long, as several of our group's dishes were already cold. Now, to the next point: The place, especially the outdoor area, is not at all designed for larger groups, and the resulting small group tables are also treated like individual tables. The outdoor decor also left a lot to be desired, and the admittedly beautifully designed menu obscures the limited variety available here. Now for the food: The salads come without dressing, the schnitzels are ridiculously tiny (palm-sized!), the advertised braised onions are kindly thrown carelessly onto the schnitzel, stem-on, and the plates are carelessly garnished and empty. Instead, you get stupid plastic cutlery packs, of which there are far too few, and exclusive napkins, which you have to ask for separately. After the meal (which you wait over an hour for), you have to wait another hour before you're asked about any other requests or new drinks. I don't understand how this restaurant got more than 4 stars, since the service was even better at the kebab shop around the corner, where, by the way, you inevitably have to go afterwards to satisfy your still-hungry appetite. You feel downright cheated at "Alex," and no one should visit this restaurant.

What a shame! I stopped here for an iced coffee. The menu offers an iced coffee that can be ordered vegan. According to the menu, it consists of coffee, two scoops of bourbon vanilla or chocolate, coffee crumble, and whipped cream. I got a glass of plain, cold black coffee with a careless, half-melted scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. That's it. I wonder what exactly you're paying €6.40 for here, and why the menu advertises something different than what you actually get.
