Great atmosphere, very tasty food, but drinks and beer are Dubai prices.🫣

Everything was great, the food was very generous and good, the staff was very friendly.

We tried it again, but it was still very poor. We had a breakfast buffet. There is no replenishment of rolls, cheese or other things. White bread was completely missing. Pancakes were cold and dried out. The side salad was wilted, mozzarella was dried and slightly yellow. Bacon totally dry as if it were chips. The Alex in Regensburg is not recommended at all for breakfast.

We had the buffet. The price of €15 is more than reasonable given the size of the buffet. (Hot drinks excluded) There were various types of bread/rolls, as well as various jams, honey, sausages and cheeses, various spreads, fried eggs, scrambled eggs and so on. Breakfast egg, bacon, bratwurst, fried potatoes. Yoghurt and muesli as well as pancakes. Everyone is sure to find something they like here. Everything would be refilled promptly. I can only give this a thumbs up. When it's time for breakfast again, Alex will definitely be on the menu again.

Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with the service in this restaurant. There was no table service and no one came to take the order. We had to wait a long time until someone finally came to us. This was disappointing and disorganized. I hope the service improves.

It's nice to sit in, but the price-performance ratio and the quality are simply not right. Some of the food was burnt, too dry or too spicy. In addition, the service is sometimes slow and a bit chaotic. I used to really enjoy going to ALEX and if this restaurant were cheaper it would still be ok, but for e.g. €13 for a burger without a side dish, you can really expect more.

Can only give 2 stars. Unfortunately, service is really not good. Unfriendly and you wait 20 minutes for the order to be taken. Then you wait another 20 minutes for the drinks. Cocktails were all very bad and really little. Unfortunately our last visit here.

We were at Alex yesterday, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in the afternoon. We had a drink outside in the nice weather. Cocktails and service were good. But here's the thing: the women's toilets were so filthy that they were almost impossible to use. It also smelled so much like urine, I'm telling you... worse than a highway toilet. Actually nice atmosphere but not recommended.

Breakfast buffet is not recommended on Saturday. The food usually arrived at the buffet counter only lukewarm; knives, butter and plates were often missing. That's better.

The taste of the food was okay, but the service left a lot to be desired. As soon as we were greeted, the menus were placed on the table without a word and in a rather unfriendly manner. The service seemed overwhelmed and not attentive - there were longer waiting times. Overall, the visit was disappointing, particularly due to the poor service, which had a significant negative impact on the overall experience.

I often go there as a couple for coffee and cake. Everything is very tasty so far and I also think the ambience is great, but it often takes a long time for the order to arrive. Plus: you can bring your dogs with you and they will be provided with water without asking

Were there for breakfast. The part of the buffet that was supposed to be warm was ice cold. Rolls were poorly baked.

So eating wasn't really my thing, there were some nice waiters and some weren't either. However, the worst thing was the toilet paper, the quality was very bad and I think my backside deserves better because my backside is now itching. but otherwise everything was actually good

I like this necklace even though I'm not usually a fan of chains. Delicious food, great ambience, there's a lot to see and the menu is very diverse and right up my alley. The service is always very good, even if it was a bit overloaded that day. I would say unexpectedly nice weather. But when the waiter was at the table, you had your full attention.

We often go to Alex to enjoy the time and try the different selection of dishes and drinks. Today we were at Alex on a Sunday morning, as usual. Unfortunately we had 3 waiters in a bad mood, which also ruined our mood. We had to wait over 30 minutes for the food. The restaurant/café is itself a cozy, safe place and we are loyal customers of Alex. However, we don't know whether we can still go there in a good mood after the incident.

Breakfast good and inexpensive. Toilets apparently hadn't been cleaned that day. Neither toilet paper nor towel dispensers were filled

Very nice place to chill and drink or eat, prices are not so high. Staff is very polite and helpful. Definitely on a must visit list when you're in Regensburg.

Went for a short trip to Regensburg. Ate at Alex twice and loved it both times! Great food and very nice staff. Highly recommended and I'm actually very hard to please. Everything in terms of interior design has also been thought of in the restaurant. 5 stars!

We ordered Aperol and Lilet. When the drinks arrived, I thought someone had drunk them before me, and that for €8.20? There was a bit more in the Aperol. The glass on the right was used for two sips, while the one in the middle of the picture had nothing. I wanted to complain, but no one was there. Service is incredibly slow. Especially paying always takes forever.

We made a reservation for Sunday brunch. Due to the number of people (11), we couldn't make a reservation online, so we had to call. The reservation was confirmed, but when we arrived today, the reservation wasn't found, and we were turned away. It is and remains a chain with McDonald's service levels.

We ate there and the food was very bad. We had currywurst and a burger, which wasn't good either, and the price wasn't right. It was way too overpriced for the ambiance. It was simply too expensive for the taste.

Stopped here today for what was supposed to be just a coffee... However, the menu offered delicious teriyaki and Korean BBQ chicken... Absolutely delicious! Everyone was friendly, and we didn't have to wait long. Keep up the good work! Thanks 🙂👍

Good and generous buffet (we went for brunch with a larger group). The staff was very friendly and always made an effort.

The waiting time was more than an hour and no one told us beforehand, otherwise we wouldn't have waited that long. One of the waitress was really rude to us, other customers and her own colleagues. It wasn't the best atmosphere to relax.

Great brunch offered, great and friendly service

Despite the fact that the buffet menu is indeed decent, the service leaves much to be desired!! It's always very cold in this place!!! Apparently they are saving on heating! Especially if you sit at tables near the front door or near the stairs!! After 10 minutes my feet are already stuck to the floor!! I especially don’t recommend it with children or if you have a slight cold! If you wanted to come spontaneously (without prior reservation of a table), be prepared to stand in the doorway in the draft and humiliatingly wait (there were cases up to 20 minutes!!) until the waiter (who will run past you several times with a tray of drinks) finally deigns to find you a table. And with 80% confidence it will be a table near the doors or stairs, that is, in the coldest places!! While waiting, your mood already disappears, and besides, you have time to freeze! The wait for drinks and the bill after the meal also takes a long time!! Or run around looking for a waiter! Yes, the price/quality ratio of the dishes is excellent, but sometimes it’s better to pay more elsewhere, but enjoy the service, warmth, comfort and save your nerves!!

Drastically increased prices with decreasing quality. Went for Sunday brunch today and I can no longer recommend Alex. The food is just oily and of poor quality while the prices have almost doubled. Inflation or not, unfortunately it's not in proportion. The four of us paid over €100 and no one liked it. Especially as a vegetarian there is little choice. Fortunately, there are many tasty and cheaper alternatives in Regensburg

We went for brunch on Sunday. Service and food were good. The only drawback was that not all of the dishes were available about an hour before the end of brunch time, but the selection was still completely sufficient.

The service is very friendly and very attentive. After the renovation, the atmosphere is very cozy and modern. The breakfast buffet is very varied and delicious, there is something for everyone. We really enjoy coming here.

Absolut unterirdischer Service. Unser reservierter Tisch war im hinteren Teil des Lokals. Wir sahen sofort dass unter dem Tisch jede Menge Brösel und Speisereste und auch eine rote Serviette lagen. Nach ca. einer halben Stunde kam dann auch schon ein Kellner (absolut unkoordinierter Service!) nahm die Bestellung auf. Er vermied es geschickt in den am Boden liegenden Unrat zu treten (ist ja auch ekelhaft) - ein Hinweis unsererseits blieb ungehört. Das Essen war der Tiefpunkt - angeblich hatte ich Backfisch (Fisch and Chips) im Brotteig bestellt. Auf dem Teller waren dann geschickt 4 kleine Dreieckige Fischteilchen - TK Kost (paniert, und absolut geschmacklos). Das ganze für 16 Euro - unglaublich. Nach einer Stunde wurde es immer kälter im Lokal (auch im Herren WC lag die Temperatur fast beim Gefrierpunkt) - wir zogen unsere Jacken und Mäntel an. Irgendwann tauchte dann ein anderer Kellner auf und kehrte endlich den Unrat weg. Ich bedankte mich - er sah mich an und schwieg. Beim Bezahlen gab ich ein gutes Trinkgeld (andere Kellner machten grad Pause, in einer Nische gegenüber unseres Tisches - er packte eine Trinkflasche und mitgebrachtes Fastfood aus seinem Rucksack und dinierte am Tisch - der wusste schon warum-oder bekommen die nichts zu trinken oder zu essen…), es kam kein Danke oder etwa ein Lächeln. Der Service und das Essen in Autobahnraststätten ist besser. Niemals wieder.

Absolutely great, delicious brunch offer. Very friendly, attentive staff. Interesting guests. Gladly again.

Nice but lack of overview on the part of the service staff

Underground service. After waiting for over half an hour without being able to order anything, we left again!! And this happened to many tables next to us!

The Alex is not as usable in the winter months as we imagined. You have to wear warm clothes otherwise you will freeze without a winter jacket. In my opinion, the place is hardly heated at all. It's a shame, we wanted to warm up a bit in the very dingy weather.

The location of the restaurant is good, but that's about it. The service was overwhelmed, the four tables gave up waiting and left. If I hadn't already ordered, I would have left too. Food cold at the table and too expensive. Never again.

Service is its best, ambience: art, modern, chic, friendly, but too many guests and not enough staff. I like to wait for the food in a great café/restaurant, I'm happy to accept the fairly high prices, but then the food/drinks should also be really warm.

Dirty toilets, filthy. Hui on the outside, yuck on the inside. Here you wait until someone thinks of serving you. A shame.!!!!!!

The four of us were in Regensburg over Christmas. The restaurant we had booked for Christmas Eve put us up. The Alex still had a table available; We ate excellently and experienced great service and friendly employees. That's why we also appeared there on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, the men's toilet on all 3 days did not correspond to the very good impression of the restaurant (I don't want to go into that in more detail). Therefore “only” 4 stars.

Incompetent waiters!!! Simply terrible. Don't come to the table in 30 minutes. You always have to call. No questions asked for feedback, which is why I have to give this review now. The location itself is nice but service makes everything. Didn't work at all!!!!!

Always happy to be in a great central location. Good service. Large selection of food and drinks. We really like the atmosphere. We always go to Alex when we visit Regensburg. I can only recommend it. As I said, always happy.

I only put 3 stars for food because I didn't eat a whole meal. I merely stumbled upon this place by happenstance. Going to try again tomorrow with others for dinner. #hopeful

I've been to Alex several times and I enjoy coming here. The service is always top. What I noticed: the selection has been reduced a little. The cleanliness of the entrance area and the toilet has also deteriorated. Otherwise it was very good as always

After meeting a larger group for brunch at Café Alex, we thought there would be something vegan there, like in almost all other cafés in Regensburg. Unfortunately, far from it. When we asked the waitress which components of the buffet were suitable for vegans, she pointed us to the sausage platter. Unfortunately, it's not my sense of humor at all. In the end, all we had left was margarine as a “spread” and vegetables and fruit as side dishes. We were not allowed to order a dish from the menu, which would have consisted of bread and various, potentially plant-based spreads, because of the time. So we had to pay the amount for the buffet, which was completely overpriced for our needs, without really getting anything out of it. This is definitely better these days!

Had brunch on Sunday. Food was okay, pancakes unfortunately cold. It was also cold at our seat at the front of the window facing the pedestrian zone.

Breakfast is simply recommended.

They brought a terrible red velvet dessert, it was dry and old! Instead of offering a replacement, the waiter with a dissatisfied face took the dessert and went to the kitchen with it, came and started to prove that the dessert was okay, even though the cakes were very dry! I said okay and bring the bill, I paid full price for two desserts! Horror!

It's great here. The atmosphere is very beautiful and calming, the food is divine and the service is very, very nice. I can only recommend it.

We were there on a Saturday evening and had reserved (thank God), otherwise we wouldn't have gotten a place. The service was friendly, but after the drinks were served we had to wait a little longer until we could order our food. The food came relatively quickly and was well prepared and tasted very good! Price performance was good but still a little above the usual average.

Went to the Alex today, I've been in and out there regularly since almost the beginning of the Alex. Whether for breakfast, coffee or cocktails. Today I was there with family, unfortunately that was the last visit. At the entrance we had to wait a few minutes with our child in our arms because 4 tables next to us were being cleaned by 3 service employees at the same time. After we were shown to a table, we placed our order shortly afterwards. To start there was a hot chocolate and two cold drinks. Afterwards there were burgers for my wife and I as well as fish fingers. The food came and the service was friendly. Unfortunately the burger buns were extremely dry. There was no burger sauce, ketchup or mayo on the bottom half of the bun, the top was only lightly coated with delicious sauce. After my wife asked for a little more sauce for the burger, 15 minutes passed before another waitress asked us again if we liked it. When she was told about the burger sauce, she exchanged ideas with the other colleague. Based on her reaction, I assume that she immediately ordered a new burger because she ran very quickly towards the kitchen. I was already finished and ordered a cappuccino. 5 minutes later the sauce came for the now ice-cold burger that had been standing for 20 minutes. Another 15 minutes later, after the burger had been eaten without any complaint from us, I asked the waitress for the bill. The Cappucion has not yet been found. This was then calculated on the bill. After I complained about it, the waitress, after consulting with her boss, told me that the cappucino was now ready and I had to pay for it. I accepted that too. The whole fun cost over 80 euros for below-average, albeit friendly, service. The food is not worth the price and for me it has rest stop quality/price-performance ratio. The location of a location isn't everything. Hopefully the feedback will encourage training for branch management from the franchisor.

Very tasty food and nice service

I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. There were problems even when ordering a simple orange juice without pulp. When I asked if the juice was without pulp, the waitress explained to me that there was “normal” and “freshly squeezed”. I made it clear that I didn't care about the type of juice as long as it was pulp-free. Nevertheless, I was served one with pulp. To make matters worse, the waitress was not only unfriendly, but also slightly aggressive in the way she spoke. Instead of finding a solution or responding kindly to my request, I almost felt like a burden. For a restaurant that wants to score points with good service, this was really disappointing. The ambience may be fine, but treating guests like this leaves a bad impression. I hope that the friendliness and service quality are being worked on here, because that alone decides whether you like to come back - or not.

Little craftsmanship, mediocre food but unfortunately very expensive

I ordered a burger, shared it with my girlfriend, and we both got sick to our stomachs. Poor food handling.

Never again. We've been wanting to eat at Alex again for a long time. The service was never particularly fast but it was ok. The restaurant was pretty full today, so everything took a little longer. But the service was still good. We had a table right by the kitchen. The chef's tone towards his waitresses was quite rough at the beginning. After he shouted at individual service staff and then loudly asked a young waitress to “shut up”, we left our drinks, paid and wanted to leave (the food wasn’t there yet) because we were no longer hungry. As we were already leaving, he angrily asked us to pay for the food anyway. We always enjoyed going there in the past and are happy to stop by again when there is a change in chef. After all, there are plenty of alternatives nearby that offer a friendly, humane atmosphere despite the stress and lack of staff.

Due to some mediocre reviews, I was pleasantly surprised. Decor, furniture, everything was great. Menu varied, prices for Regensburg near the cathedral OK for me. The two male service staff were top. Quick absorption of drinks and food. Short waiting time for preparation. Rump steak medium and side dishes, taste good, teriyaki too. Payment by credit card is quick and easy. Now the only negative thing that led to the 1 star deduction. While the female toilets were clean, there was toilet paper on the floor in all 3 toilets. Why guests spread paper on the floor in all 3 toilets? I don't understand. The urinals were clean. ----> As a suggestion: perhaps the staff should do a tour every hour. Wouldn't do any harm. // and now an internal comparison to Alex Fürth and Munich, Regensburg clearly won this one. 👍 Update at the end of October 2024 - Female service friendly, quick when ordering, waiting time for burger and currywurst deluxe okay. Otherwise see the review above. // Once again it was the male urinal that attracted negative attention. Unfortunately it's clogged, and apparently not for just a day. Please also lock the unused room. Please repair the defective socket on the seating set! (See photos) Would still suggest the hourly staff walk-around.

A very popular restaurant on Neupfarrplatz!

Totally overloaded staff, still no coffee after 35 minutes. This wasn't just the case at our table, some had been sitting for three quarters of an hour and no order had been taken, even though there were always four service staff running around. This service doesn't work at all.

I ate the baked potato with the homemade falafel dumplings here, very tasty!

Still a top address in Regensburg

Sat on the chained chairs, got abused by the waitress because we did not buy from them . Ordered coffee from her, lots of rolling of the eyes 👀, after 20 minutes it did not arrive so we left, never to return. There was no sign letting patrons know about seating at ALEX. Visitors need to be welcomed. Not abused, our tourist trade is what keeps the city going.

Good cappuccino and latte macchiato. Lots of tables outside the restaurant. This is the best place to sit. It is very large inside and therefore it was quite loud and seemed “hectic”. Very friendly staff. But it is definitely recommended. (September 2024)

A bit hectic as it seems management always tries to have as few staff as possible in a day. Food is like Jack of all trades, master of none, but perhaps good for larger groups as it offers something for everyone.

Went there for dinner on a weekday evening. Relatively little visited, which is why a reservation is not necessary. The service was quick and friendly. Food selection very good and quality as well. Vegetarians will also find what they are looking for here. Personally, I recommend the schnitzel with mushrooms. Good value for money throughout. The ambience is pleasantly cozy, but still modern, as you would expect from other ALEX restaurants. Generally a very harmonious restaurant.

We were there today too. We all really enjoyed the food and the service was very quick and we kept asking if everything was ok. The store was full. We were able to get the last table (6 people), which was immediately assigned to us by the nice waiter. Prices are a bit high, but everything suited us. Top keep it up.....

Well Alex is just a chain. It's really nicely decorated and has a nice selection. But it's no longer what it used to be. It has also become incredibly expensive. Last time I ordered a waffle for €8 and there was simply nothing on it, a fist-sized waffle with a spoonful of fruit. The next guest simply had a portion that was almost twice as large. And we had to wait forever for service three times. Well, juice shop.

We ate there at the weekend, made a reservation shortly in advance and luckily got a seat. The menu offers a wide variety, from breakfast buffets to burgers and salads to cocktails. The atmosphere is modern and inviting. Ideal for a cozy evening with friends. The prices were okay.

Unfortunately only inadequate We sat for 15 minutes in the sun of the beautiful square. The waitress walked past us several times, always ignoring us. The toilets were flooded. Not a good address Other than sitting nicely, not a good experience 🫦 I just read here that many guests complained about deficiencies in the service. There is a serious problem here.
