ALEX Regensburg in Regensburg

We had lunch at Alex and had a wonderful time. The food (deluxe currywurst) was absolutely delicious, the plates were lovingly decorated, and the wait time was reasonable. I would also like to particularly highlight the staff, who were very friendly and attentive. I would happily rate this visit 5 out of 5.

I had a Tutti Frutti bowl which was sooo soo delicious and the presentation was aesthetically pleasing. The ice cream was so flavourful, refreshing and not too sweet which is perfect for my liking. I also drank latte macchiato that was also pretty good. The interior of the cafe is so dreamy and exquisite. The service was also really nice.

We went to the Alex Café on Domplatz in Regensburg for the breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, the service was a huge disappointment. When we sat down at a free table, we asked for a quick wipe down – the waitress reacted annoyed and pulled a face. We then ordered water, but had to wait a full 15 minutes, even though the employee walked right past us several times. When we finally asked her about it, we got the water, but again with an unfriendly expression. Overall, the staff seemed overwhelmed and not very service-oriented. We sorely missed friendliness and attentiveness here. The buffet itself was reasonably priced, but the poor service prevented us from truly enjoying the breakfast.

We had the Sunday buffet. Plenty of selection, but unfortunately, certain items weren't replenished or were suddenly no longer available, even though the buffet had been open for another two hours. The white sausages were bursting and had brown spots. The fruit, especially the pineapple, was brown. Plenty of room for improvement. What stood out positively was the friendly staff and the nice atmosphere.

The breakfast buffet was poor quality! Only a small orange juice was included in the price – you have to pay extra for coffee.

The name Alex stands throughout Germany for a good atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly staff. The food isn't always of the same quality, and the friendliness isn't always noticeable. (It's gotten better.) The place is a great choice, like many others I know. Now it gets 5 stars.

We stopped there for a glass of wine later in the evening. Very friendly staff. A pleasant atmosphere with a predominantly young clientele.

I think the location is really beautifully decorated and I'm also happy with the service!

We waited 20 minutes for a Spezi, we were assured three times that it would come soon, it wasn't very busy and the service was not good.

There were eight of us for breakfast. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and the selection was more than adequate. The staff inside was also very friendly. Unfortunately, despite the nice weather, we couldn't sit outside. There are small tables outside, designed for four people, but they're far too small for breakfast, especially for rounds. There were eight of us, and we should have split up because they were only allowed to push two tables together, even though it was very quiet that day. This restaurant is not recommended for larger groups in nice weather, and apparently, the owner doesn't want that either. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.

We were there for the first time today. We really liked everything, both the drinks and the food. If we are in Regensburg again, we will definitely visit this restaurant again.

From drinks to food and service everything was top and terrific

Two of us ate here, and when we looked at the menu, we were shocked to see the prices had drastically increased. Considering the value for money, this is truly outrageous. The bread was hard and the pasta was cold. The waiter was unfriendly and didn't even say goodbye or anything after we paid. We won't be coming here again.

Absolutely disappointing! The bald waiter seriously forbade us from using the restroom – even though we were his own customers and he had served us himself just moments before. He started yelling at us just because he forgot who his customers were. Another waiter had to point out to him that we were, in fact, his. Our drink arrived after an incredible 40 minutes. When we confronted him about the restroom issue and the long wait, he started arguing, getting loud and rude. In the end, he even wanted to kick us out – after making us wait and behaving like that. We've never experienced anything so unprofessional.

The food is good when you get it. The waiters are generally awful; they're either unfriendly or don't take your order at all.

The food was fantastic. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area. Recommended for anyone looking for something different than schnitzel and fries.

The desserts were divinely delicious, the cocktails too. The waiter (unfortunately I don't know his name....with a beautiful athletic figure, dark hair and a sweet smile) was very attentive and charmed us all with his charm. We will be happy to 🥰 visit your cafe when we visit Regensburg again.

Great Place Amazing Food and Bevergas

Shard of glass in a cocktail – I'm stunned and disappointed I'm truly shocked by my experience at Alex Café in Regensburg. I was there with friends around 10 p.m. on Thursday evening. I ate a wrap that barely contained any "meat" (if you can even call it that) – pretty disappointing for over €14. After that, I had a waffle (which was okay) and a non-alcoholic cocktail that was more juice than "cocktail"! But the real shock came while I was drinking it: I suddenly chewed twice on something hard – it was a piece of glass. I couldn't see if the glass was also damaged inside because it was full of ice. So I asked the waitress if I could please take a photo of the INSIDE of the glass for my doctor – after all, swallowing a piece of glass can be life-threatening. The waitress (brown hair) simply said the glass was only cracked on the outside and even suggested that maybe the dishwasher had gotten a piece of glass into it. Luckily, later, the second, very nice waitress (blonde, curly hair) came over and told me quite honestly that the glass was also cracked inside – and that a centimeter of glass was missing. Unfortunately, the glass had already shattered in the glass waste by that point, so I couldn't take a photo. I feel lied to. And not only that – I was then asked to pay for the wrap, even though I had drunk glass! Only because I repeatedly made it clear how serious the situation was, was the amount waived in the end. I work in the medical field myself – I know how dangerous something like that is. And to then be lied to is unbelievable to me. And then to say, after I spoke to the brown-haired waitress again, "I really didn't see it, I just looked at it from the outside," supposedly... but the other waitress told me with complete conviction that she could have clearly seen the broken glass from the inside! Glass breakage can happen, yes – but the way it was handled was simply disrespectful, irresponsible, and dishonest. I will definitely never come back. There are also photos of the glass and the visible sharp piece of glass.

I went to Kaffee Alex today and had a white chocolate. I've also been to the buffet before – it's acceptable, but you sometimes have to wait in line for a really long time. The white chocolate tastes like uncooked custard powder, which is quite unpleasant. Overall, the drink was disappointing. The buffet does offer a certain selection, but the quality isn't consistently good, and the long wait doesn't make it any better. Especially during peak times, it's just exhausting to even get anything there. The prices are simply too high. For what you get – both in terms of taste and service – it's not worth it. I wouldn't go there again.

This is complete nonsense, it took way too long, and the service wasn't that friendly either. The drinks are completely overpriced. Just go there and trust them; the people there are really weird.

I had the TERIYAKI SALMON BOWL and was extremely disappointed for the price. The salmon tasted extremely artificial and looked like it had artificial coloring in it. According to the menu, however, it wasn't. I don't know if it was due to the way the salmon was prepared or the quality, but the dish stayed in my stomach for a long time. Unfortunately, the beets also tasted a bit rotten. Last time we were there, everything tasted good, and the ambiance and service were also good.

I was served by an extremely friendly and attentive waiter from Tunisia. He was always polite, professional, and always had a smile on his face. Despite the busyness, he took the time to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. His warm personality and dedication made our visit a particularly pleasant experience. Thank you for the great service, we'll be back!

Great food, great atmosphere! On summer days, however, it's very hot in the restaurant, and the ventilation isn't on. It's truly scorching hot.

I can recommend the food. The service staff were incredibly unfriendly. They make mistakes and then snap at customers, don't say hello or goodbye when they come in. There's no friendly approach. Objective sobriety and principles win out—a strong Berlin example!

Such a lovely place! The atmosphere was nice and the desserts were super tasty. We had to wait a little for our order, but everything else was great.

The food is ok, one waiter, darker skinned, with a beard and glasses, was extremely unfriendly while the other was extremely pleasant.

The location is great, and the food was absolutely delicious. There's something for every appetite. Small, medium, and large. I had the Caesar wrap and would definitely order it again.

My husband and I went to Alex with our dogs for lunch today. We loved the ambiance inside. There were plenty of shaded spots outside for our dogs to enjoy. In addition to our drinks, which arrived quickly, our dogs were also offered water. The food was delicious and lovingly prepared, and I also found the selection of dishes to be very inventive.

The perfect café for a cold drink on a Friday afternoon. The service was super friendly and attentive, very professional. Delicious Spritz options, and it was a pleasant place to sit. Unfortunately, the outdoor area could be improved. Some of the prices are already quite steep and unjustified. Central location and very cozy.

Honest value for money apart from the exorbitant cost of water as in all of Germany, good quality of food. Large place with a lot of choice of seats both outside and inside, of course considering that we were there for lunch and in June, in the evening I can't give any indications

The service was very nice and friendly, and everything went very quickly. The food was delicious and the prices were absolutely reasonable. In my opinion, there was a good selection, so there should be something for everyone. I would definitely come again and can recommend the restaurant.

We arrived quite early on a weekday morning, around 9:00 a.m. The waitress was still setting the tables. We only wanted a cappuccino. It came quickly and was delicious. The place was fine and not too crowded.

Yesterday, we were in the outdoor area with 10 people. The service was very attentive, but some drinks took a while. When the alcoholic drinks arrived, we were quite surprised... The Aperol and Lillet were very small, and that for €8.70... One of us complained, and the Lillet was refilled with water—a shame... I don't think there will be a next time...

Price-performance ratio is not quite right

We went for the breakfast buffet with prosecco on a weekday, really good choices there. The “Bratkartoffeln” are very good, and with a runny fried egg on top even better.

We were at the Alex restaurant today, 24.05.25, it was my husband's birthday. There were 6 of us. Unfortunately, the ordered food was brought in 1 hour and 15 minutes. The mood was ruined. The amount on the check was 177 euros. When we asked for a discount for the very long wait, we were refused. If we had known that we would have to wait so long, we would not have gone. This is not how you treat customers. If the order is delayed for so long, at least give people a discount!

I waited 1.5 hours. I didn't get a discount.

Were here in the afternoon, staff very unfriendly and annoyed. When it comes to tipping, it's not a thank you, it's a matter of course. Were there weeks ago, thought it showed change, but that's not the case. Tried to give “Alex” another chance after 4 years. Breakfast brunch, the price/performance ratio is not right at all. Sausage is wilted and dry as well as the lettuce leaves, cheese? no special selection. Rolls are all from 10:30 when we arrived, no replenishment, let alone the white bread or grain bread. Cook has noticed about the anger but shows no reaction/apology or the like.

We tried it again, but it was still very poor. We had a breakfast buffet. There is no replenishment of rolls, cheese or other things. White bread was completely missing. Pancakes were cold and dried out. The side salad was wilted, mozzarella was dried and slightly yellow. Bacon totally dry as if it were chips. The Alex in Regensburg is not recommended at all for breakfast.

Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with the service in this restaurant. There was no table service and no one came to take the order. We had to wait a long time until someone finally came to us. This was disappointing and disorganized. I hope the service improves.

We had the buffet. The price of €15 is more than reasonable given the size of the buffet. (Hot drinks excluded) There were various types of bread/rolls, as well as various jams, honey, sausages and cheeses, various spreads, fried eggs, scrambled eggs and so on. Breakfast egg, bacon, bratwurst, fried potatoes. Yoghurt and muesli as well as pancakes. Everyone is sure to find something they like here. Everything would be refilled promptly. I can only give this a thumbs up. When it's time for breakfast again, Alex will definitely be on the menu again.

Can only give 2 stars. Unfortunately, service is really not good. Unfriendly and you wait 20 minutes for the order to be taken. Then you wait another 20 minutes for the drinks. Cocktails were all very bad and really little. Unfortunately our last visit here.

It's nice to sit in, but the price-performance ratio and the quality are simply not right. Some of the food was burnt, too dry or too spicy. In addition, the service is sometimes slow and a bit chaotic. I used to really enjoy going to ALEX and if this restaurant were cheaper it would still be ok, but for e.g. €13 for a burger without a side dish, you can really expect more.

We were at Alex yesterday, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in the afternoon. We had a drink outside in the nice weather. Cocktails and service were good. But here's the thing: the women's toilets were so filthy that they were almost impossible to use. It also smelled so much like urine, I'm telling you... worse than a highway toilet. Actually nice atmosphere but not recommended.

I often go there as a couple for coffee and cake. Everything is very tasty so far and I also think the ambience is great, but it often takes a long time for the order to arrive. Plus: you can bring your dogs with you and they will be provided with water without asking

I like this necklace even though I'm not usually a fan of chains. Delicious food, great ambience, there's a lot to see and the menu is very diverse and right up my alley. The service is always very good, even if it was a bit overloaded that day. I would say unexpectedly nice weather. But when the waiter was at the table, you had your full attention.

So eating wasn't really my thing, there were some nice waiters and some weren't either. However, the worst thing was the toilet paper, the quality was very bad and I think my backside deserves better because my backside is now itching. but otherwise everything was actually good

We often go to Alex to enjoy the time and try the different selection of dishes and drinks. Today we were at Alex on a Sunday morning, as usual. Unfortunately we had 3 waiters in a bad mood, which also ruined our mood. We had to wait over 30 minutes for the food. The restaurant/café is itself a cozy, safe place and we are loyal customers of Alex. However, we don't know whether we can still go there in a good mood after the incident.

Service only noticed us after 20 minutes. Food would be absorbed incorrectly. Price performance is unfortunately very cheeky.

Went for a short trip to Regensburg. Ate at Alex twice and loved it both times! Great food and very nice staff. Highly recommended and I'm actually very hard to please. Everything in terms of interior design has also been thought of in the restaurant. 5 stars!

We ordered Aperol and Lilet. When the drinks arrived, I thought someone had drunk them before me, and that for €8.20? There was a bit more in the Aperol. The glass on the right was used for two sips, while the one in the middle of the picture had nothing. I wanted to complain, but no one was there. Service is incredibly slow. Especially paying always takes forever.

We made a reservation for Sunday brunch. Due to the number of people (11), we couldn't make a reservation online, so we had to call. The reservation was confirmed, but when we arrived today, the reservation wasn't found, and we were turned away. It is and remains a chain with McDonald's service levels.

Stopped here today for what was supposed to be just a coffee... However, the menu offered delicious teriyaki and Korean BBQ chicken... Absolutely delicious! Everyone was friendly, and we didn't have to wait long. Keep up the good work! Thanks 🙂👍

We ate there and the food was very bad. We had currywurst and a burger, which wasn't good either, and the price wasn't right. It was way too overpriced for the ambiance. It was simply too expensive for the taste.

Good and generous buffet (we went for brunch with a larger group). The staff was very friendly and always made an effort.

The waiting time was more than an hour and no one told us beforehand, otherwise we wouldn't have waited that long. One of the waitress was really rude to us, other customers and her own colleagues. It wasn't the best atmosphere to relax.

Despite the fact that the buffet menu is indeed decent, the service leaves much to be desired!! It's always very cold in this place!!! Apparently they are saving on heating! Especially if you sit at tables near the front door or near the stairs!! After 10 minutes my feet are already stuck to the floor!! I especially don’t recommend it with children or if you have a slight cold! If you wanted to come spontaneously (without prior reservation of a table), be prepared to stand in the doorway in the draft and humiliatingly wait (there were cases up to 20 minutes!!) until the waiter (who will run past you several times with a tray of drinks) finally deigns to find you a table. And with 80% confidence it will be a table near the doors or stairs, that is, in the coldest places!! While waiting, your mood already disappears, and besides, you have time to freeze! The wait for drinks and the bill after the meal also takes a long time!! Or run around looking for a waiter! Yes, the price/quality ratio of the dishes is excellent, but sometimes it’s better to pay more elsewhere, but enjoy the service, warmth, comfort and save your nerves!!

Drastically increased prices with decreasing quality. Went for Sunday brunch today and I can no longer recommend Alex. The food is just oily and of poor quality while the prices have almost doubled. Inflation or not, unfortunately it's not in proportion. The four of us paid over €100 and no one liked it. Especially as a vegetarian there is little choice. Fortunately, there are many tasty and cheaper alternatives in Regensburg

We went for brunch on Sunday. Service and food were good. The only drawback was that not all of the dishes were available about an hour before the end of brunch time, but the selection was still completely sufficient.

The service is very friendly and very attentive. After the renovation, the atmosphere is very cozy and modern. The breakfast buffet is very varied and delicious, there is something for everyone. We really enjoy coming here.

Absolut unterirdischer Service. Unser reservierter Tisch war im hinteren Teil des Lokals. Wir sahen sofort dass unter dem Tisch jede Menge Brösel und Speisereste und auch eine rote Serviette lagen. Nach ca. einer halben Stunde kam dann auch schon ein Kellner (absolut unkoordinierter Service!) nahm die Bestellung auf. Er vermied es geschickt in den am Boden liegenden Unrat zu treten (ist ja auch ekelhaft) - ein Hinweis unsererseits blieb ungehört. Das Essen war der Tiefpunkt - angeblich hatte ich Backfisch (Fisch and Chips) im Brotteig bestellt. Auf dem Teller waren dann geschickt 4 kleine Dreieckige Fischteilchen - TK Kost (paniert, und absolut geschmacklos). Das ganze für 16 Euro - unglaublich. Nach einer Stunde wurde es immer kälter im Lokal (auch im Herren WC lag die Temperatur fast beim Gefrierpunkt) - wir zogen unsere Jacken und Mäntel an. Irgendwann tauchte dann ein anderer Kellner auf und kehrte endlich den Unrat weg. Ich bedankte mich - er sah mich an und schwieg. Beim Bezahlen gab ich ein gutes Trinkgeld (andere Kellner machten grad Pause, in einer Nische gegenüber unseres Tisches - er packte eine Trinkflasche und mitgebrachtes Fastfood aus seinem Rucksack und dinierte am Tisch - der wusste schon warum-oder bekommen die nichts zu trinken oder zu essen…), es kam kein Danke oder etwa ein Lächeln. Der Service und das Essen in Autobahnraststätten ist besser. Niemals wieder.
