I ordered a burger, shared it with my girlfriend, and we both got sick to our stomachs. Poor food handling.

Never again. We've been wanting to eat at Alex again for a long time. The service was never particularly fast but it was ok. The restaurant was pretty full today, so everything took a little longer. But the service was still good. We had a table right by the kitchen. The chef's tone towards his waitresses was quite rough at the beginning. After he shouted at individual service staff and then loudly asked a young waitress to “shut up”, we left our drinks, paid and wanted to leave (the food wasn’t there yet) because we were no longer hungry. As we were already leaving, he angrily asked us to pay for the food anyway. We always enjoyed going there in the past and are happy to stop by again when there is a change in chef. After all, there are plenty of alternatives nearby that offer a friendly, humane atmosphere despite the stress and lack of staff.

Due to some mediocre reviews, I was pleasantly surprised. Decor, furniture, everything was great. Menu varied, prices for Regensburg near the cathedral OK for me. The two male service staff were top. Quick absorption of drinks and food. Short waiting time for preparation. Rump steak medium and side dishes, taste good, teriyaki too. Payment by credit card is quick and easy. Now the only negative thing that led to the 1 star deduction. While the female toilets were clean, there was toilet paper on the floor in all 3 toilets. Why guests spread paper on the floor in all 3 toilets? I don't understand. The urinals were clean. ----> As a suggestion: perhaps the staff should do a tour every hour. Wouldn't do any harm. // and now an internal comparison to Alex Fürth and Munich, Regensburg clearly won this one. 👍 Update at the end of October 2024 - Female service friendly, quick when ordering, waiting time for burger and currywurst deluxe okay. Otherwise see the review above. // Once again it was the male urinal that attracted negative attention. Unfortunately it's clogged, and apparently not for just a day. Please also lock the unused room. Please repair the defective socket on the seating set! (See photos) Would still suggest the hourly staff walk-around.

Totally overloaded staff, still no coffee after 35 minutes. This wasn't just the case at our table, some had been sitting for three quarters of an hour and no order had been taken, even though there were always four service staff running around. This service doesn't work at all.

Seating area in front of the shop is fine. Service was great, friendly, funny and quick. I personally find the beer price at €5.20 a bit too high, so I only drank one

Sat on the chained chairs, got abused by the waitress because we did not buy from them . Ordered coffee from her, lots of rolling of the eyes 👀, after 20 minutes it did not arrive so we left, never to return. There was no sign letting patrons know about seating at ALEX. Visitors need to be welcomed. Not abused, our tourist trade is what keeps the city going.

A bit hectic as it seems management always tries to have as few staff as possible in a day. Food is like Jack of all trades, master of none, but perhaps good for larger groups as it offers something for everyone.

Good cappuccino and latte macchiato. Lots of tables outside the restaurant. This is the best place to sit. It is very large inside and therefore it was quite loud and seemed “hectic”. Very friendly staff. But it is definitely recommended. (September 2024)

Went there for dinner on a weekday evening. Relatively little visited, which is why a reservation is not necessary. The service was quick and friendly. Food selection very good and quality as well. Vegetarians will also find what they are looking for here. Personally, I recommend the schnitzel with mushrooms. Good value for money throughout. The ambience is pleasantly cozy, but still modern, as you would expect from other ALEX restaurants. Generally a very harmonious restaurant.

We were there today too. We all really enjoyed the food and the service was very quick and we kept asking if everything was ok. The store was full. We were able to get the last table (6 people), which was immediately assigned to us by the nice waiter. Prices are a bit high, but everything suited us. Top keep it up.....

Well Alex is just a chain. It's really nicely decorated and has a nice selection. But it's no longer what it used to be. It has also become incredibly expensive. Last time I ordered a waffle for €8 and there was simply nothing on it, a fist-sized waffle with a spoonful of fruit. The next guest simply had a portion that was almost twice as large. And we had to wait forever for service three times. Well, juice shop.

We ate there at the weekend, made a reservation shortly in advance and luckily got a seat. The menu offers a wide variety, from breakfast buffets to burgers and salads to cocktails. The atmosphere is modern and inviting. Ideal for a cozy evening with friends. The prices were okay.

Unfortunately only inadequate We sat for 15 minutes in the sun of the beautiful square. The waitress walked past us several times, always ignoring us. The toilets were flooded. Not a good address Other than sitting nicely, not a good experience 🫦 I just read here that many guests complained about deficiencies in the service. There is a serious problem here.

Location is great. Food tastes good. However, according to my assessment, the price-performance ratio is no longer right here. Both in terms of food and drinks.

You have to say that the restaurant is Eichkult in Regensburg and you have to say that you have been there a few times. We had been at Alex for a long time. Unfortunately, we had a very unfriendly waitress who was apparently offended after a discussion at the beginning and then consistently ignored us. We would have liked to order 2, 3, 4 more cocktails, but the lady with long, dark, braided hair consistently ignored us and our empty glasses for over 2 hours. You don't make sales like that

Just wanted to have a coffee and hot chocolate with my mom. Waited 10 minutes for service, that was still okay. But then having to wait 20-25 minutes for two drinks after several other customers had already come and gotten their stuff before us, and then having to drink our drinks cold? No thanks...

Were there for the breakfast buffet. The food was very good, as were the drinks and the waiter was friendly. The croissants were our favorite. The price is comparatively high there, which is unfortunately not ideal. But you also get a lot on offer.

We wanted to have brunch there today for the holiday, when we arrived we wanted to put 2 tables together because there were 6 of us. The terrace was almost empty. So when we were ready the waiter came and said - Hey, you're not allowed to do that, it's forbidden here! Go back to how it was then you can stay. Then they got up and left.

When we wanted to sit down and order something, the table tipped over towards us. The waitress saw this and explained to us in a very unfriendly tone that we shouldn't move the table because otherwise it would break. We tried to explain to her that we had done nothing of the sort, and she only became more rude. She then went in and even after waiting, no one came back to take our order, so we ended up getting up and looking for another café without ordering. After such a service we didn't want to spend any money here anyway.

Can't complain. Of course the service could be a little faster. But hey. That's fine if you're not in a hurry. Food super tasty. Very good value for money. Drinks rather expensive. No parking spaces. When the weather is nice you can sit wonderfully on Neupfarrplatz.

Das man 2024 kaum vegetarische und fast keine vegane Gerichte auf der Speisekarte hat ist schon erstaunlich. Das dann das Essen auch noch schlecht ist…. Das sogenannte Pfannengemüse war praktisch roh, ungewürzt und lauwarm und für fast 5€ sehr wenig. Die Pommes waren sehr trocken. Die vollkommen überforderte Bedienung schaffte es nicht bei nur 3 bestellten Sachen auf anhieb die richtigen zu bringen. Das falsche Getränk kam viel später als das Essen, weil angeblich an der Theke so viel los war. Es waren noch nicht mal alle Plätze besetzt und es war nur ein Radler… selten so geärgert.

Unfriendly!!! We (8 people) wanted to sit outside and took a place on the edge so that we could push two tables together and not obstruct the waitresses' path. When we asked, we were immediately told that we shouldn't push tables together because they would break (never heard of that?!). Well, maybe the rules at Alex are like that, but a nicer tone would have been desirable. When we asked where we could sit outside as a group of 8 people, we were simply told "it's not possible" and the waitress left... so did we. Not very customer oriented. In the next café it was no problem pushing two tables together.

The European cuisine was wonderful, the drinks were great. My girlfriends and I had a burger. It had pork in it and we didn't mind it. One of my friends was wearing a hijab, and the chef, seeing this, came to remind us and asked if we wanted exactly what we wanted. Then the lady changed her order. Thank you for such polite and attentive staff 🫶🏻🌸

Quiet and cozy place. The food was fine, the drinks delicious. Service fine. All in all a nice experience.

Nice restaurant, lots of comfortable seating, friendly service and a great ambience. Also suitable for wheelchair users as it is barrier-free. The toilets are with a lift to the lower floor.

The restaurant is incredibly cozy and stylish at the same time. The staff are very friendly and forward-looking. When it comes to eating, it is impossible to recommend any particular dish, as they all surpass each other in aesthetics and, above all, taste. The Alex is definitely a MUST!

Very nice decor, friendly service, but the food and drinks are very expensive, here's a comparison: a still 0.75l water for 7€, only 90 cents less than the waffles. Otherwise everything is highly recommended. 🙃

Long waiting time, almost no customers inside. Three servers for about 15 people ????? Well, that's too much. I waited about 20 minutes for my order to be taken then another 20 minutes for two beers. The operator has a muscle head and is more worried about being nice with the two controls than about operating them. Never again . And then I wanted to pay and I waited 6 minutes even though one of them was waiting in line. I still left a tip but I didn't deserve it at all. Never again .

Hi people, I don't recommend Alex, the staff is very unfriendly and very racist. You immediately feel uncomfortable when you go in. Unfortunately, communication with them is not possible.

It's really really nice in Alex. My basement was super friendly and even though I was alone I didn't feel lonely. What I can personally highly recommend is the matcha latte and the breakfast buffet.

Well, whenever we visit a bigger city we go to Alex for the breakfast buffet... because, so far, it was always a great experience with delicious food. As it should be for almost 16€ per person. (Dresden, Berlin, Leipzig...) And, lucky for the chain, i won't let one bad experience change my habit.. because this experience could've done just that. First off, nothing - absolutely not one single thing - was labeled. Because of my past experiences i had a good idea what's what, so it wasn't much of a problem, but a first time visitor would be bewildered. But there were, for instance, 6 different salads but only guesswork as to what they were... besides obviously repurposed leftovers from yesterday. The manager/shift manager was basically friendly with guests, but she was openly hostile and confrontational with the staff, and on the restaurant floor. That's just ineffective management and uncomfortable for everyone. Of all the employees she should be the example, instead of harried, angry and unsmiling. The eggs were cold, not just room temperature, but cold. I thought it might be an isolated incident, so i waited for a fresh tray and tried again. Cold. I'll be back to Alex, but never this one. And it should never have cost so much for such a disappointing experience. I can recommend the chain in general, but as far as Regensburg goes - do yourself a favor and visit one of the many many other charming options.

I was there twice, the food was good but the employees are not friendly and always look at us so strangely and don't laugh and if you ask something then they will be so angry I will never go there again

Unfortunately, the nice waiters only come when asked. They walked past us for a whole 30 minutes without paying any attention to us. The breakfast brunch is not exactly cheap at €20.90 without drinks. But it really still has some deficiencies for the price. Conclusion: It was tasty, we were full - but it could definitely be better.

Although it is a nice and cozy restaurant in the center of Regensburg, there is still room for improvement. When I visited it was full, but 3 things - if the waiter brings something and not everyone has ordered, you should at least automatically ask if you want something and not have to search for the waiter EXTRA. At the same time, if several people are sitting outside, everyone should get the drink menu, not just some. If we wanted to pay, it wasn't possible at the table, it wasn't possible inside either and outside the card terminal didn't work straight away or correctly and we had to wait up to 10 minutes EXTRA until we could pay, which I find to be a NO-GO.

After meeting a larger group for brunch at Café Alex, we thought there would be something vegan there, like in almost all other cafés in Regensburg. Unfortunately, far from it. When we asked the waitress which components of the buffet were suitable for vegans, she pointed us to the sausage platter. Unfortunately, it's not my sense of humor at all. In the end, all we had left was margarine as a “spread” and vegetables and fruit as side dishes. We were not allowed to order a dish from the menu, which would have consisted of bread and various, potentially plant-based spreads, because of the time. So we had to pay the amount for the buffet, which was completely overpriced for our needs, without really getting anything out of it. This is definitely better these days!

The staff are very unfriendly. We ordered pasta and there was a lot of hair in there and the glasses were dirty. They still demanded that we pay it🤦🏻‍♀️

Ambiance is really nice but that's all. The burgers are drenched in sauces, the veggie burger will make you sick and the bowls are nothing special. In general the food is really mediocre, the price makes it absurd to pay so much for so little. If the ketchup with the fries, which are not included with the €16 burger anyway and cost extra, ALSO costs extra, then you know that this is not a good restaurant. Peppers is also free, but tastes better, fills you up, and the ketchup is included in the price, and you also get more for free if you need it. The service doesn't tell you this, you don't have to, but you could, but otherwise it's ok. Been there 6 times, I never want to go back, the breakfast is ok, the rest is despicable.

We were served very friendly and quickly here. Even when eating, people asked if everything was okay. 5 stars for this. The meal was okay. I think the non-alcoholic drinks are overpriced. Therefore only 4 stars. Nevertheless, the homemade lemonade was good.

Went here spontaneously last night, quite late, because we accidentally found out from a super nice waitress named Vanessa that the kitchen was still open. The quality and taste of the food was very, very good! The only thing we found a bit steep was almost €5 for a small handful of fries. The burger with the cheese and pumpkin seeds is incredibly delicious!! Service very good and atmosphere inviting. :)

Quite nice for a drink. The ambience is really nice. However, the armchairs are now very dirty and one wonders whether it is a good idea to put furniture in a restaurant that cannot be cleaned well or at all. It's a shame actually.

Beautiful ALEX at Neupfarrplatz. The offer is good and similar to the other ALEX. There is a good breakfast buffet with everything your heart desires. But the drinks are extra. It is also better to make a reservation here as it is always full early in the morning. The menu otherwise offers good food, snacks, cocktails and drinks. The furnishings are rather modern and comfortable. The location also has some outdoor seating on Neupfarrplatz. Especially in summer you can also enjoy a delicious ice cream sundae here. The opening times are great from very early to very late. The price-performance ratio is ok. The staff is friendly and sometimes a bit overwhelmed. But that doesn't matter, I always bring time with me when I visit a restaurant. I can recommend it, whether it's breakfast, a drink or a snack. It is very good but not exceptional hence 4 stars 👍

No more orders (a small pilsner) were taken at 11:15 p.m. because the outdoor area closes at midnight (whoever needs 45 minutes for a drink). Incomprehensible. The employee was nice.

I really like going to Alex because of the great and long breakfast buffet. Sometimes it seems a bit cramped, stressful and hectic. Could offer more vegan dishes.

Very tasty food, nice and courteous staff, rolls always fresh, food always warm, 👍 I would like to say a lot of praise for the renovation... it has become beautiful, modern and wonderfully "different"... Price performance fits! I often come here for breakfast and it tastes wonderful... top selection... I recommend the fried potatoes and scrambled eggs Update: Sunday brunch: Very good selection...warm dishes include pasta, fish, roast with dumplings, rice and vegetables (be careful, spicy!) The dishes are always renewed at certain intervals with freshly cooked ones, and sometimes replaced with other dishes. This ensures good quality so that further cooking can be avoided. This means that care is taken to ensure that Weser meat does not become tough, nor that pasta or potatoes or rice become too soft. Despite the heavy traffic, the food was always refilled quickly and the chef was happy to personally put fried eggs on his plate 😃 The only thing that can be complained about, if anything, is that there may be more vegan options on offer. E.g. vegan milk alternatives, vegan sausages and meatballs and vegan sausage/cheese. That would appeal to even more guests. But THAT is whining at a high level Dear Alex Ream, please keep it up...the guys and girls from the service are nice, quick and courteous. I'm looking forward to the next breakfast with you

We were there during the week for the breakfast buffet. Food was very tasty, service was very friendly, food was always refilled. Top! We'd love to come back.

Actually a really cool location, but such chaos in the service. It was busy when we were there, but we had to put a waiter almost alone in the entrance area and then have him assign the guests to the door. It doesn't have to be that way, especially because my colleagues were standing a little further back (three of them) and chatting. The toilets looked so bad! The food was OK, but nothing more.

The saddest Aperol I've ever had in a restaurant. With an equally sad lemon in it, some wooden shish kebab stick and a cardboard straw. And for €8, not even a third of the glass was given away... You can imagine my reaction when the item was served. After I asked the waiter if I could at least get another straw, he answered me. I could drink from the edge of the glass. It's not sharp-edged. He was lucky that I didn't feel like getting upset about anything that day...
