Very, very tasty, great service, I love coming back to Mülheim again and again.

We went there today for a cocktail and were very satisfied, the price was right, the cocktails were delicious and the service was friendly. You don't need anything more 🙂

The food was cold, way too salty and absolutely inedible. I also asked the waitress several times for the bill and only after I waited almost 20 minutes for the bill did the waitress become very annoyed. Yes, of course, I would like to spend the night in the restaurant.

The price-performance ratio is absolutely miserable. I paid almost 40 for a Jägerschnitzel, currywurst, even without fries and a burger. I would have paid 50 if the food had at least tasted the same. The portions were also quite small. Definitely never again.

The food was somehow pretty cheap. I ordered a burger and when I took a bite, all the oil just squirted out of the burger. I'm also worried that they'll use old oil to prepare the food because that's pretty much how the food tasted. Definitely never again.

As always, it was delicious, the service was friendly and accommodating as always.

Our experience at Alex in Essen was absolutely fantastic and we have become loyal repeat customers. Here are some reasons why we love this place so much: - **Culinary variety**: Eating at Alex's was always a pleasure. The breakfast has a varied selection and tastes very good. The scrambled eggs were particularly great.

I ordered a chai latte and fried rice with shrimps. The chai latte tasted like a great usual chai latte except for the foam on top with a lot of cinnamon that stuck to my throat, that wasn’t very enjoyable. Now for the fried rice with shrimps I didn’t expect much but they still managed to disappoint me. The fried rice that came with 5 shrimps on a stick and some cucumber and tomato slices was kind of dry and barely tasted like egg. The shrimps didn’t taste like anything which was disappointing. The cucumber and tomato slices were the only things that made the meal more enjoyable which is hilarious because they weren’t even mentioned in the menu. The staff were nice and the atmosphere was great, the food wasn’t anything special though.

Friendly staff, good quality of food, coffee is average, noise is a bit loud. (December 2018) Update in August 2023: The service today was great, we haven't been served by such a smart and humorous waiter for a long time. Today was an extremely pleasant dining experience. The fish and chips we ordered were also good.

I've had brunch at ALEX several times. Nice personel! No waiting times as the food is self-service. The drinks ordered are brought to the table immediately. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to ALEX. 😃

Everything was great except the service was not attentive to guests. Sometimes when there are few guests, you have to go to the counter to order so that you can order, where the waiter then runs behind you to collect the cash. Maybe not enough staff!!!

After we liked Alex in Oberhausen so much, we thought we would try it out here in Mülheim😊 I had the Pasta Triangole and Menne the Champion Schnitzel, both delicious! The only difference I found between Oberhausen and Mülheim is that sitting in Oberhausen is nicer. Which of course is just my opinion 😊 Service and food were excellent in both 👍🏻 so we are now always spoiled for choice 😅

Unfortunately there are no ten stars that you can give. So five in all categories! Totally nice and fast service! No "plate taxis", but very funny and friendly service, always on the ball and very attentive! Very nice atmosphere! Thank you for the short vacation with you! We always enjoy coming here and take the “holiday feeling” of the top service with us. Great burgers, moderate drink prices... see you soon!

It is a nice place with best service I will go again

The Alex is a great place to just have a relaxed chat with friends. The drinks are really tasty and there is a large selection of different drinks. The food isn't always that good, but of course that's a matter of taste. But the breakfast there is very good!

The vegan breakfast offer at the buffet would be described as not generous, not worth €15.30. But for others it's definitely a good buffet.

New faces in the kitchen could only mean something good and the food quality this time was considerably better

I always thought breakfast included coffee... you had to order it separately... and pay extra per cup... a completely new experience and disappointment... everything else was fine and good... very nice Service...but breakfast without coffee isn't possible

Delicious currywurst with fries

Walk through Mülheim's city center and have a drink at Alex at the end. The location impresses with warm colors and light. Some pieces of furniture may look old-fashioned at first glance but...they are very comfortable and cozy. My very first Baileys Latte in a location like this...I felt very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and nice. That was certainly not the last time that I was able to enjoy myself in this Alex.

I was invited to breakfast by my children. I liked it very much. The breakfast buffet was excellent.

Once and never again (at least in MH) ... Service? Miserable! No greeting at the table when the waiter first came, just a: "You know?" ... And now comes the best or worst thing I've ever experienced!!! The order was taken and less than 5 minutes later the food was there??? How does it work please? Microwave once and you're done? ... Our daughter had the children's menu with fish fingers etc., the mashed potatoes were burnt but cold, hard and impossible to eat! My wife had a baked potato that was still cold, and my burger was also lukewarm! The nachos were old and sticky, and the "baked" cheese was also cold! ...Again, how can all these dishes be ready in 5 minutes and almost cold???? ... In the entire time that we "had to" be guests, not once did a waitress come to the table to ask if we would like something more to drink, or to ask the standard question "is everything OK?" ... We were there on Friday March 8th. , around 5:30 p.m. guests! At least I'm drawing a positive conclusion... As of now, Saturday morning, it hasn't upset any of the three of us! ... To summarize again: miserable service and bad food at a questionable price (given the services received)!!!

Not recommendable! After waiting for a quarter of an hour, friendly service who only cleaned the table after being asked. Coffee and kitchen prices completely exorbitant! Cake tasted artificial and was inedible!

No flexibility!!! We were regular customers and ordered the breakfast buffet every 4 weeks on Saturdays. 12 people in number. Now a vegan comes along and we had her. Please, as the buffet is not designed for vegans, that the person does not take part in the buffet but can order individually. This was rejected by the managing director. Only buffet, nothing else is not possible for a vegan as there is no choice. Conclusion!!! These regular customers no longer come back and are satisfied at the Leonardo and it is cheaper too.

Solid brunch, a little too inattentive service.

First of all: Great buffet, great location, friendly staff - a win for Mülheim! BUT: The price development here appears to be degenerate - far removed from actual prices (“inflation”). Here is the price development for the breakfast buffet since around the end of 2023 / beginning of 2024: 9.90 euros - 12.xx euros - and brand new 15.30 euros!!! Are you crazy?! That's 50% inflation! With all the effects of the last few years with prices currently falling sharply (for food and energy, yes - do a price comparison): That can't be the case. To bag the VAT reduction during the Corona period, to still increase prices at the same time and now to increase the prices again by 50% (in words fifty) within a few months! Don't come to us with increased wage costs. You have earned the two euros per hour of work in recent years by selling overpriced tea!! out. So: what's the point? Edit based on Café Alex Mülheim's answer: Thanks for the detailed feedback. I'll summarize it like this: You, “the catering industry”, received Corona aid (VAT 7% instead of 19%) for half of 2022 and all of 2023, when there was no more Corona. You then did not fully pass on the increased costs for energy and food to us customers. Now prices for food (relevant for the buffet, including oil, cheese, flour, meat, etc.) are falling again, as are prices for energy. Then you, Café Alex, increase the price for the buffet by around 30% before the end of the Corona aid, around mid/end 2023. And now, when the taxpayer's benefit has ended, you increase it by another 20%. For me, this is and remains degenerate pricing. The problem for me is that I had you give me two vouchers when this was - logically - unforeseeable for me. I would have liked to have refunded these vouchers. I'd rather spend the money elsewhere. And I could just suggest that you recoup the increased VAT rate through lower prices for food purchases, etc. #GREEDflation

We ate a very tasty oriental salad here. The service was very friendly and served us very quickly.

A very nice restaurant. Man can sit well. And also meet nice people.

A visit that's worth it. The Alex is located directly in the pedestrian zone. If the weather is good you can also stay outside, inside there is a spacious location waiting for you. Not uncomfortable, on the contrary! It is divided with comfortable tables and seating areas. The food is delicious, I had gyoza. The iced coffee is also recommended, just as an example. The service is very friendly and quick. Gladly again!

Theb service is really good but the food is...OK

Ich war gestern mit meinen Freundinnen hier essen. Das Essen war sehr gut und die Kellner sehr freundlich und immer am lächeln!!! Das einzige was schade war das gegen ca. 20 Uhr die Musik lauter gestellt wurde und man sich kaum unterhalten konnte.

Habe leckeren Lachs auf Rösti gegessen das war sooo lecker mit lauwarmen Feldsalat u.superHumus-Dressing.Würd immer wieder das nehmen.Man sitzt auf tolle Sessel ( lange Sitzfläche) verschiedene gemütliche Sessel .Alles supi

Sehr nette und zuvorkommende Kellner Frühstücksbuffet ist top. Leider seit der Koch gewechselt worden ist, bin ich von den Mittags Gerichten nicht mehr ganz überzeugt. Natürlich gibt es ein paar Ausnahmen, wo dennoch schmecken. Cocktails absolut gut. Kann man auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen.

Ich war heute mit meinem Freund nach langer Zeit mal wieder im Alex. Eigentlich sind wir von dem Laden nicht so angetan aber heute war alles perfekt. Wir hatten einen ausgezeichneten Kellner, der wirklich sehr aufmerksam war und seinen Job Klasse ausführte. Das Essen war auch mehr als lecker! Alles super heiss, toll angerichtet und preislich total im Rahmen. Wir waren rundum zufrieden 🫶🏻

Weit entfernt von der angezeigten 4.4. Die Bratkartoffeln sind unterirdisch.

Ein super Restaurant. Wir suchen Alex immer wieder auf. Gutes Essen, super Service und Ambiente. Mit der gibt es auch Verbesserungen und gewisse Gerichte ändern sich auf der Karte. Hier kann man sehr gut frühstücken, aber auch zu Mittag und Abendessen gefällt uns gut. Meistens essen wir dort zu Abend. Auch Freitag- und Samstagabend nicht überfüllt. Hier lohnt es sich auch ein Geschenkgutschein für andere zu holen, wie ich finde.

Unsere Geburtstagstorte hatte auf dem Weg einen „kleinen“ Unfall. Die Köche haben uns geholfen sie irgendwie noch zu retten 😅. Das Personal was sehr höflich und zuvorkommend. Das Essen 1A. Und das Ambiente sowieso klasse. Wir sind total begeistert und kommen wieder 👍😃.

Super nette Bedienung und reichhaltige Auswahl.

Sehr schade, wir wollten zu dritt einen Dessert zu uns nehmen und bestellten ein Eis mit drei Kugeln, einen Brownie mit Eis und Sahne und eine Waffel mit Eis. Der Brownie war zuerst da. Dann kam mehrere min. später das Eis und nochmal einige min. später die Waffeln. Der Brownie war eine Kinderportion (2 dreieckige Stücke mit ca, 2 cm Länge und etwa 1 cm Breite. Der Laden war relativ leer (ca. 6 Tische besetzt) und es gab min. 3 Kellner und einen Mitarbeiter an der Bar. Wir haben direkt bei der Lieferung der Waffeln bei unserer Kellnerin moniert, dass wir über die Salamitatktik bei der "Lieferung" von drei Desserts nicht erbaut sind und die Größe der Brownies beim aufgerufenen Preis von 7,10 EUR als Frechheit empfinden. Sie meinte, dass sie ihren Chef informieren wird. Von diesem hat sie anscheinend eine Reaktion à la "unzufriedene Kunden gibt es immer" geerntet. Es gab keinerlei Reaktion. Da zudem keines Der Desserts sonderlich lecker schmeckte, kann ich dieses Alex in Mülheim/Ruhr in der Schloßstr. keinem empfehlen. Zwei Sterne gibt es überhaupt nur, da unsere Bedienung wirklich freundlich und professionell war. Könnte man den Lieferzeit-Service und das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis gesondert bewerten, gäbe es minus Sterne. Sorry, aber so was ist als richtig schlechtes Erlebnis in Erinnerung geblieben.

Wir hatten eine sehr leckere Waffel mit Vanilleeis, Apfel und Schokostreusel. Cappuccino war lecker und eine für mich schon fast zu große Tasse. Sehr freundlicher Service 👍🏻

Also ich war heute zum erste mal hier, und ich muß sagen, ich fand es echt gut👍. Der Raum ist sehr groß, aber schön zu Unterteil, toll eingerichtet😁. Der Service war echt nett🤗, es wurde uns höflich mitgeteilt das zur Waffel kein apfeleis da wäre und ob es auch Vanilleeis sein darf, natürlich dürfte! Die Waffel war mit Eis, Sahne, schokostreusel und eine Art Apfelmus/Gelee, es hat sehr gut geschmeckt und passt auch zur kalten Zeit /Weihnachten⭐!! LG anne😘

Wir waren zum Sonntagsbrunch dort es gab eine riesige Auswahl an kalten und warmen Speisen und es wurde immer rechtzeitig nachgelegt. Sehr freundliches Personal. Einfach super.

Wir haben dort leider nicht gegessen, nur etwas getrunken aber planen es bald denn die Karte hat uns neugierig gemacht. Die Bedienung war super freundlich und schnell. Die Räumlichkeiten sind luftig und sehr schön eingerichtet. Eine Location die auch mit einer größeren Gruppe zu besuchen ist aber auch für Paare Möglichkeiten bietet eine gemütliche Zeit zu verbringen. Es ist zentral gelegen, darum gibt es dort keine Parkplätze vor der Tür. Es gibt aber ein Parkhaus in der Nähe.
