I would have actually given it 4 stars, but due to the fact that we, as customers with a reservation for 1 p.m., were no longer able to enjoy the full menu. At that price, I demand the full menu until the last minute. The quality of the items available was good.

We were there today for the first time in a long time, and we'll never go back. You sit down, order food and drinks, and then, when everything arrives, the same waiter tells you you can't sit there. The manager tried to save the day, but unfortunately, it was too late. We paid and left the food and drinks behind. Never again! We were there for the Corona breakfast... super pleasant... very good portions and great service... would gladly go again.

Fine for drinks or coffee. We were a group of 7 and the food was average at best. The favorite salad was bland and boring in taste. I would have liked different lettuce leaves and more than 3 pieces of cucumber...

In any case, the “boss” pretended to be the one with the half-bald one. When we ordered a buffet, everything was great until then, until he couldn't grab himself from the outside between his steps at the buffet!! Then serve yourself at the buffet or touch food that other guests then eat. His lack of hygiene really makes you lose your appetite. If you stink, simply spraying a lot of deodorant doesn't help. never again!!! The rest of the staff was friendly and the hygiene was at a normal level.

We went to dinner with 6 people on carnival Sunday. The staff is very friendly. The food went quickly and was very tasty. The price-performance ratio is also good. The best thing was the waiter who found my husband's ID card in the afternoon when we had coffee there and knew that we would come back for dinner in the evening. My husband didn't even notice that his ID had fallen out of his wallet. Unfortunately we couldn't give him any more money because he finished work before we paid him. But I'll pick it up on my next visit to Mainz.

This place has the best weekend all you can eat buffet brunch ever! From pancakes, to different styles of eggs, müsli, bread, and hot dishes. Also a really good value for the price. My new favorite brunch place in Mainz for when I have a big appetite 😋

Went there with a large group on a Friday. The employees tried hard to get everything under control. But it worked! There should have been more staff there when it was so full! Two are not enough for the whole restaurant! But otherwise we were extremely satisfied! Even 3 portions of fries that were cold were replaced without any problems! Top performance

Today we were at Alex with 14 people and had a wonderful breakfast! The buffet was extensive and offered a large selection - there was something for everyone. Everyone enjoyed it very much and we were thrilled! The service was great – we were served very friendly and attentively. The atmosphere was nice and pleasant. A huge thank you for allowing me to celebrate my birthday here with my colleagues! We'll definitely be back!

I was here on 1/19/25. Unfortunately, the carrot cake we ordered tasted like Christmas. Unfortunately, that wasn't clear from the map either. There was also cheesecake with a speculoos crust. You could still imagine it. In the middle of January I no longer want to eat cake that tastes like it was left over from Christmas.

I've been there several times for breakfast, the selection ranges from sweet to savory. The selection of bread is delicious and if something is empty they will refill it again. The coffee selection is also good, and our waiter Mr. Haydarow served us well and nicely.

I like going to Alex. Everything is right here, service, food, value for money Always happy

Indeed one of the greatest brunch buffets I have tried in my entire lifetime 🤩 I loved their breads! Fresh and hot right from oven … refreshing orange juice was served with the variety of food options and ambience was lovely.

In our opinion the best ALEX in the Rhine-Main area… Nice ambience and delicious food. Were here for New Year's brunch on January 1st, 2025 and received excellent and friendly service from our service professional (tall / glasses / little hair) despite the large crowd. Even the gentleman at the door with a beard and glasses had to turn away the variety of unreserved guests with charm and tireless friendliness. Such employees are very rare and deserve great praise! The Alex is and remains one of our favorites in Mainz!

After visiting the Christmas market, with 8 people, we went to Alex at short notice without booking a table in advance. We were offered two tables that were reserved for a later date. The food I had chosen was out. I chose a chicken bowl. The food wasn't worth the money. It bore no resemblance to the photo on the menu. I don't have to go there again.

Disappointing. Previously something that could be recommended. Unfortunately no now! Today we ordered 2x Alex Burgers (first time burgers from Alex). Both raw... Meat without taste. Moist, simple, it looks like the meat was taken straight from the freezer and just fried a little and then served straight away... Tomato soup unfortunately also a bit too oily. Tasted better before. What's wrong, quality no longer important? I'm not coming to you voluntarily anymore. To this day I have been with you regularly... But I have never been more disappointed than today.

Dear Alex team, We were with you for breakfast today and would like to share our feedback with you. Unfortunately, the selection this time disappointed us. There was only pork sausage and no alternatives such as turkey or poultry. It's a shame that the fruit salad isn't fresh. Everything from the can. The orange juice also seemed very thin and not particularly high quality. I'm always happy when service staff don't just do a job, but also put their heart and soul into their work and leave no stone unturned to offer guests top-notch service. Same today in Alex Mainz. We entered the restaurant with a double stroller. An employee immediately apologized for not holding the door. He couldn't have noticed us entering unless he had eyes on his back. However, the debt relief shows an understanding and feeling for good service. Compliment. I asked the friendly gentleman if there was room for three adults, a child in a high chair and our large stroller in the fairly full restaurant. He immediately went looking and returned just a moment later with good news. A colleague had recently paid at a table, so the people there were about to leave. We were asked to wait a while until the table could be cleaned. Two minutes later the place was ready for us. Including a high chair and stroller, there was no need to stop in the middle of the passage. I neglected to ask the dedicated colleague his name. But I certainly thank him. And also his colleagues, who all contributed their part. Everything was just right here. We'd love to come back.

The food tastes like it came from the freezer. Next time I'll go to the McDonald's next door. The fries are okay, but too few and too expensive. Drinks and ambience are okay. The service is okay, but you have to fight for attention. It took us easily 5 minutes to get seated, maybe more.

Table reservations were made in the restaurant, but at the appointment it was discovered that seats were still only reserved for half of the group. The service staff acted quickly and organized contiguous places for everyone. Service quick and friendly. Extensive breakfast offering, freshly prepared and attractively presented.

Great restaurant and apparently a hit among Mainz residents. Good food, great ambience, courteous, friendly and dedicated service. Reasonable price. Waited briefly for a table with 2 people. If you want to eat there with more people on the weekend, you should reserve a table in advance.

Nice service. We had a chicken schnitzel and fish & chips. The chicken was watery pressed meat, and the fish wasn't tasty either... good fries, but overall the price is not reasonable for such products. If you want junk food, then you are better off with a junk food professional like McDonalds.

We were served quickly and the food came quite quickly within 20 minutes (although it wasn't full). Everyone involved enjoyed it. Here you can see in the photo, my starter, the tomato soup for €6.40. Never again, sitting comfortably in a booth at the back. Everyone present at our table and in the back dining room started coughing. Toilets were closed NO INFORMATION to guests. Just asking, yes we called someone. We thought about an emergency plumbing service. No, suddenly a huge fire brigade/ambulance/police operation... upon request, STIMULANT GAS in the toilets... I still don't understand why ALEX is so irresponsible and didn't clear the guest room. Police recorded everything. ALEX will never see us again. In addition, the service and the food are simply bad.

It's been a long time since I went to Alex...only had a small breakfast...The first coffee with milk was cold and I quickly got a new one. The ambience is good, just incredibly loud.

Unfortunately the Kaiserschmarrn was nothing. It looked like it had been lying there for a while and hadn't been freshened up. The waffles on the other hand are good, the service was also good.

Very good breakfast during the week and very friendly service. The armchair chairs are not particularly comfortable. We sat on a bench.

At a buffet, you should make sure that nothing is sold out, especially in the first hour after opening. At the end you can understand filling up as needed... but not at the beginning. Especially since every table was occupied, you can expect a maximum rush. The floor sticks in the restaurant and also on the toilets. There is something for every taste when it comes to selection.

I ordered the Teriyaki Lachs Bowl. Throughout the entire meal, I had something crunching on my teeth in the place with the food, like sand. At some point, my tooth almost broke because I felt that I was chewing some kind of stones... when we asked what it was, the waiter said that it was pepper, and even brought it to show for comparison. I don’t know what it was, but it was so hard - like a stone, and if you weren’t careful you could lose your teeth. Even if it really is pepper, you should at least warn about it.

The four of us went to Alex for brunch today. Price performance absolutely ok. Our service was on point and very attentive. Ambiance was also very nice. The climate was also good, although it was sometimes very crowded, but you could still have a good time. Recommended

Wir kamen nur 20 Minuten vor Schließung an und bemerkten, dass andere Gäste, insbesondere Deutsche, viel größere Mengen ohne Probleme nahmen. Als ich ihm mein Unbehagen über seine Haltung mitteilte, antwortete er einfach, dass es nicht sein Problem sei. Dieses Mangel an Respekt und Professionalität ist inakzeptabel. Ein Buffet sollte ein Buffet sein, und wenn es Einschränkungen gibt, sollten diese klar angezeigt werden. Ich bin sehr enttäuscht und habe keine Lust, nach Mainz zurückzukehren.

I recently visited Restaurant Alex in Mainz, attracted by their buffet for 15.50 euros. Unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. He also came over to check our plate and let us know that we had taken too much, which wasn't the case. When I expressed my discomfort with his attitude, he simply replied that it wasn't his problem. This lack of respect and professionalism is unacceptable. A buffet should be a buffet, and if there are restrictions, they should be clearly displayed. I am very disappointed and have no desire to return to Mainz.

We were in Mainz over the weekend and discovered this charming café while strolling through the city. The ice cream parlor was simply fantastic – just the right mix of sweet and strong! The iced tea was also wonderfully refreshing. The service was super friendly and immediately made us feel welcome. The location is particularly great: when the weather was nice, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking for a little break in Mainz!

This place has very good coffee, but the drink prices are ridiculous! 9 euros for a cup of cappuccino and a cola.. other than the price, it's an okay place, nothing special. If you are looking for drinks only and have time however, go sit somewhere by the river.. you can go off cheaper and have a better view.
