We shared the 15 starters, which were extremely tasty and very filling. The service was extremely friendly and relaxed and we sat at the table in a very cozy corner with a sofa bench. Price-performance is also right. So 10/10 and definitely recommended!

Me and my friends visited Al Howara. A friend and I went to pack up our food and the waitress said she would be right back. While we were talking, another waitress came and took away our half-eaten meal. After about 10 minutes the first waitress came back and said it was her colleague. She simply threw away the food. She said it was kind of our fault because we didn't tell the other waitress. Even if we didn't say anything, she should have at least asked if we still wanted the food. There was so much food left! At the end we each received tea as an apology. But that's not enough. For what we paid and to end up eating so little and being treated like this we are extremely disappointed.

Last night we tried AL HOWARA with friends based on a recommendation. And we can only do the same ourselves. It was just great. Great ambience, a super friendly, very attentive, warm staff and then the food... We were thrilled, enchanted and can only say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for this wonderful evening. We would definitely come back again, even if the journey is a little longer. It is worth it!!! It was really fun to try something new.

Four of us went in around 8.30pm on a Monday, so was quite quiet but can imagine it getting very busy on the weekends. I went for the mixed grill of Lamb, Chicken and minced lamb. The second the plate was placed in front of me I knew it was going to be phenomenal. The rice, the salad garnish, humus, garlic and sauce looked delicious, and also tasted delicious! Waitress was very pleasant and spoke perfect English, also.

Very tasty starters, my favorite dish was a mixed meat plate of lamb/poultry/minced meat, good wines, a nice atmosphere and friendly service. What more do you want? Belly dancing on Thursdays!

Not only was the food great, but especially the warm, courteous and attentive nature of the staff was worth more than 5 stars!

The small corner of the building doesn't look like much from the outside. Right on the suspension railway and the main street. But from the inside the view of the landmark is actually very nice as it drives by. But actually you hardly have time to think much about the view because the ambience and especially the food are just too good. I recommend everyone to try the small appetizer plates. But all the main courses are also delicious and special. The drinks and even the wines are really excellent. The staff is friendly, accommodating and very relaxed. The restaurant is highly recommended for everyone if they want to experience something culinary.

While on a casual evening trip to Wuppertal, we discovered this beautiful restaurant. The food is just great and delicious and freshly made. Most of the items on the menu are reasonably priced. The service is also friendly and prompt. The ambience was perfect for a summer evening dinner with a riverside view and the ambient lighting set a perfect mood. The best part is that it's not even a 10 minute walk from Central station. All in all, I can only recommend this place, because I'm definitely going again.

Definitely my “place to eat” when I’m in Wuppertal. The service is great, the food is incredibly good and always on point. I've been there many times and would eat there even more often if it wasn't 400km away 😁 In a group you can also share the 15 small plates. Whether vegetarian or meat fanatic - everyone is served a really delicious meal here.

This has been our restaurant of choice for decades. My family always meets here for every occasion. The food is very tasty and very affordable. We love the appetizer plates. 10-20 small plates with a large variety of cold and warm dishes, plus thin flatbread. Only the acoustics are quite loud depending on the space.

We were finally here again after a long time and can once again claim that Al Howara offers the best Lebanese cuisine in the area. The trip to the city of Wuppertal was once again worth it. Consistent quality, the 15 small plates with cold and warm delicacies wonderfully aromatic, the grill plate (easily enough for two people after the sumptuous starter) with juicy chicken breast fillet, delicate pink lamb fillet and spicy lamb mince, impeccable as always, ideal with the hot chili sauce and garlic paste with plenty of oomph. I drank a decent Lebanese white wine (0.2l / €8.90). In our opinion, the prices, which have now been slightly increased, are still appropriate for what is on offer. As always, the service team was very friendly and attentive! On a Sunday evening, the restaurant was busy, but not completely booked, and the noise level was of course much more pleasant than when it was at full capacity. The oriental ambience is harmonious and appropriate, we just don't like the replaced chairs, we liked the wooden chairs better. Clear recommendation!

One of the best restaurants in Wuppertal! Been there many times, always a pleasure and pure joy! The ambience, food and service have always been excellent. Especially the 10 or 15 small plates for the starter with the dips are a dream! See you soon and keep it up! :-)

wow, simply delicious and extremely friendly staff

This restaurant was a hit. The food, ambience and service were impeccable. Maybe I won't eat shrimp again, but like everything in life, that's a matter of taste. There were 6 of us and everyone was very satisfied. I will eat here more often.

This was our second time eating here. The first time was many years ago. We weren't really happy back then. It tasted bland and dry back then. We also tend to be regular guests from the caravan. Since it has been closed for a while since the flood, we decided to go to this restaurant. The prices have been increased significantly. I understand about inflation. In my opinion, the starter plates are significantly overpriced at €20 for 10 small and cold plates. Otherwise, I unfortunately have to say that the final whistle is somehow missing. I think the spices could be more present. But the tabbouleh was great. The fish tasted strangely old. The Baba Ganoush also tasted old. All in all we were full but not happy. I think we won't come a third time. But I would like to praise the service. The lady was very pleasantly friendly and responded to special requests. Praise for that.

Wir waren nach längerer Zeit endlich wieder einmal hier und ich kann die Zeilen meiner vorherigen Rezension nur bestätigen. Das Al Howara bietet für uns die beste libanesische Küche in der Gegend. Der Weg in die Wuppertaler City hat sich wieder einmal gelohnt. Gleichbleibende Qualität, die 15 kleinen Tellerchen mit kalten und warmen Köstlichkeiten wunderbar aromatisch, der Grillteller (reicht nach der üppigen Vorspeise locker für zwei Personen) mit saftigem Hähnchenbrustfilet, zartrosa Lammfilet und würzigem Lammhack wie immer tadellos, ideal dazu die gut scharfe Chilisauce und die Knoblauchpaste mit reichlich Wumms. Getrunken habe ich einen ordentlichen libanesischen Weißwein (0,2l / 8,90 €). Die inzwischen leicht angehobenen Preise sind für das Gebotene aus unserer Sicht immer noch angemessen. Das Serviceteam wie immer sehr freundlich und aufmerksam! An einem Sonntagabend war das Restaurant gut besucht, aber nicht komplett ausgebucht, und der Geräuschpegel natürlich viel angenehmer als bei voller Auslastung. Das orientalische Ambiente soweit stimmig und passend, nur die ausgetauschten Stühle mögen wir nicht, die Holzstühle haben uns besser gefallen. Klare Empfehlung!

Very nice restaurant. Very friendly and very tasty. I personally found it good value for money. We had 15 small starter plates (hot & cold) and I had a sea bream (huge) that was really grilled! Won't be my last visit.

I was completely satisfied with my visit to Al Howara. Both the starter bowls and the lamb skewers tasted excellent. The room decoration was very cozy without being overloaded. The waitress was able to remember all the food and drink requests of 16 people without taking notes and brought everything to the right place. I would be happy to come back.

Really delicious food. I have never eaten Lebanese before and was very pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered tasted very good. Apart from that, nice service and a cozy restaurant.

Incredibly delicious food, very nice service! Lots of vegetarian/vegan options too! It was rather cool in the room when we were there, so it was better to bring a sweater.

Very tasty but also quite expensive.

The friendly woman led us through a large room into the small room to our reserved seats. Everything is very tight in an oriental style. My son enjoyed the food. My savory Bamir had more okra than pieces of lamb. I had diarrhea at home. Apparently I couldn't tolerate the pods. Next time I'll order another dish from this simple menu.

Absolutely recommended! Over a decade of being a customer of Al Howara and not once disappointed. Everything down to the smallest detail is freshly prepared, no frozen preparation, and at great prices too. If you want to eat delicious food but also value quality and hygiene, this is the place for you.

We were there yesterday and ate with six people for a birthday occasion and we are very satisfied, very courteous service, great starters, 20 plates something for everyone, I particularly liked the Lebanese wine, which goes perfectly with it and we also found the main courses very good . All in all, definitely recommended.

All you can say here is... TOP!!! The service keeps all orders without using a slip. And nothing is missing!! Hats off!! The food is to die for. Ich hatte die drei Spieße. Hervorragend gewürzt, auch die Soßen und der Reis waren sehr gut. Schon lange nicht mehr so lecker gegessen.

Sehr authentische Speisen. Die Vorspeisen mit verschiedensten Köstlichkeiten sind absolut empfehlenswert. Der Hauptgang mit den drei Spießen war sehr lecker. Schade, dass es keinen Mittagstisch gibt.

The atmosphere is warm, cosy and delightful - the food was just heaven (I had a lamb dish with rice and a kind of yogurt sauce and garlic sauce). We plan to go every time we're in Wuppertal - it's within walking distance of the main train station. The staff were also very friendly and they have menus in English.

Alles super lecker, toller Service, sehr schnelle Bedienung. Wir hatten nicht reserviert, was aber empfehlenswert ist, dennoch wurde für uns 3 ein Platz gefunden. Das Restaurant scheint sehr beliebt zu sein, denn es hatte jede Menge Besuch

Wir haben uns in diesem Lokal sehr wohlgefühlt. Vom Ambiente bis zum Service und der netten Atmosphäre waren wir sehr angetan. Das Essen war spitze und wir können es nur weiterempfehlen.

Heel lekker eten, we hebben het menu (vlees) voor 2 personen besteld en hebben meer dan genoeg gegeten. De hummus, lamspasteitjes en falafel waren overheerlijk. We hebben zelfs nog extra brood gekregen. Het hoofdgerecht was erg lekker en we hadden elk 3 soorten vlees. We zouden er zeker opnieuw naartoe gaan! Een aanrader!

Das Ambiente ist sehr schön, die Mitarbeiter mega freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Essen ist 10/10 lecker!

Einer ehemaligen Schulfreundin aus Süddeutschland und ihrem erwachsenen Sohn wollte ich die schönsten Seiten Wuppertals zeigen und so war nach Schwebebahnfahrt und High Tea im Landhaus ein besonderes Abendessen geplant, was ein schöner Abschluss sein sollte - und dieses Vorhaben gelang hervorragend. Einzig die Geräuschkulisse zwingt mich, in der Bewertung einen Stern abzuziehen. Das orientalische Essen ist hervorragend und reichhaltig. Bei zwei Dutzend Vorspeisen-Schüsselchen ist das Hauptgericht dann allerdings kaum noch zu schaffen. Hervorheben kann ich auch die sehr freundlichen Bedienungen (sagt man das noch..?), die bei Fragen zur Speisenkarte gerne Auskunft geben.

Einfach ein Genuss- Vorspeisenteller ist eine Empfehlung wert - warme und kalte libanesische Spezialitäten. Öffnet pünktlich um 1800 Uhr und die nächsten 4 Stunden sind tatsächlich wie in Flug verflogen. Lammgerichte sind ebenfalls toll. 100% weiter Empfehlung.

Wir haben den 18. Geburtstag meiner Tochter im Al Howara gefeiert. Was soll ich sagen ? Die Vorspeisen, die Lamm- und Hühnchenspieße und Beilagen waren mehr als köstlich und genauso, wie wir es aus der original orientalischen Küche kennen. Die Portionen sind ziemlich groß. Eigentlich ist man nach den Vorspeisentellern satt. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und hat ein bemerkenswertes Gedächtnis. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Da muss man unbedingt hin.Essen,Service,Ambiente mega.

Die Essensauswahl ist im Rahmen des Nordafrikanischen Stil etwas begrenzt aber frisch und lecker. Das Ambiente könnte sich diesem Stil etwas mehr annähern, zumindesten auf Anfrage in einem Bereich. Der Service erstklassig, jung, schnell sympathisch. Danke für den schönen Männerabend.

Es war tatsächlich sehr gut gekocht und zubereitet. Allerdings dreht sich bei den Hauptgerichten im Wesentlichen alles um 1 Gericht (Fleischspieß), das dann mit unterschiedlichen Fleischsorten variiert wird. Beilage (Reis) bleibt ebenfalls meistens gleich. Die auf der Speisekarte ausgelobten Nudeln sind eigentlich dünne Teigfladen auf denen der Fleischspieß liegt. Service fit und professionell. Preise in Ordnung.

Die 15 Teller Vorspeise war extrem lecker und die Hauptgerichte ebenso. Auch der Service war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir haben den abend dort sehr genossen :)

Schönes, orientalisches Restaurant mit breiter Speisekarte und freundlicher Bedienung. Einzig blöd: Selbst mit Tischreservierung abends oft sehr voll... und einige Tische sind einfach schlecht platziert... mitten im Gang / im Durchzug, vor den Toiletten... da hilft nur, auf bessere Plätze bestehen oder gehen.

Spontanbesuch vor dem Kino. Wir sind der Empfehlung aus Google Maps gefolgt. Es war ein Volltreffer, alles sehr empfehlenswert.

After finding the Lola opposite didn't take credit card, I wandered in here and checked - luckily they did, so they became my choice of restaurant for that night. The two waitresses weren't English-speaking but I got onto their Wifi and managed to translate some of the menu, ordering bream and an AltBier. The fish was fairly huge on the plate - grilled whole with several pieces of lemon, accompanied with rice and veg. Given the fish was unfilleted (still with bones and head) it was a slight battle to separate the flesh from bones and head, but the fish was strong and tender, covered in crispy skin - great to eat! The veg amounted to peppers, courgettes and onions - quite soft. I stayed for another beer but didn't hang around too long; I was seated at a single table near the passage to the toilets and I kept feeling a draught blowing in from there, so didn't find it a comfortable place to stay. Nonetheless, I'd happily return there for another meal when in the area.

Great and abundant Lebanese food, the dessert was not as good as i can get. in other places, but the rest of the meal was really good. Very nice staff and welcome, be advised no credit card accepted, only cash or german debit card.

Fairly wide range of eastern Mediterranean food. Hot and cold starters, meat, fish and vegetarian mains. We did not try any deserts. Menu available in English, French also spoken. Service was friendly and food served at a good pace. Alcoholic and soft drinks and coffee was ok but not great. WARNING only German bank cards or credit cards accepted.

We had there a family diner. Wonderful. Falafel, fatayer, kibbeh were so fresh. The lamb meat was so tender that my daughter that is not a big fan of meat finished everything. Service fast, the lady super nice took the time to explain me the plates despite the English card. Definitely restaurant to visit in Wuppertal.

Dined here with some business colleagues very good standard of food, excellent example of Mediterranean cuisine very well presented. Reasonable priced. Take attention that they don’t accept credit card only cash or German debit card (at least that is what the waitress said) however, I would guess that a debit card of other banks will work fine as the PIN machine looked very standard EU fair to me.

Lovely place from the begining you feel like in oriental dream. Delicious food and the staff are so kid with the recommendations. Don't forget to enjoy the ballerina show !!

Nice place with friendly staff and fresh tasty food. The mixed starters where a a good choice to pick over before the large mixed grill arrived. The meat was cooked to perfection. The only downside was they only take German cards and don't take visa or mastercard which seems odd in this day and age.

We came with a fully vegetarian group of four and were not disappointed. We ordered the 15 small dishes as starters and were already half full after this. Because of that and the high oil content of the fried aubergine, potato and zucchini we could only eat half of the main dish. I recommend to just order two starters or consider sharing a main dish after starters.

Went with a group of friends. The foof is meant to be Lebanese,but as i comd from the middle east i foud the food not to be as expected it may be good for the locall people. It was very pleasant and the service was very good.

Friendly welcome (party of 6 friends), English menus offered. Good selection of Middle-Eastern dishes, including 3 or 4 vegetarian options. Food was superb - tasty, well cooked, perfectly seasoned and in substantial portions. Surprised at how low the bill was - absolute bargain. Attentive service, great atmosphere - absolute winner of a restaurant!

I always love to go to the Al Howara, the food is great and plenty. You have to try the mixed appetizers if you go. The staff is very friendly and attentive. But make a reservation before you go, it's always full and you might not get a table.

Seriously good Arabic fare. Tried the mixed grill. Be prepared for a massive plate with loads of rice and meats - lamb, chicken and ground meats. Delicious! Would go back! No foreign credit cards accepted!

This is an excellent lebanese / arabic restaurant. The place is very big, but popular, so you're definitely better off booking on saturdays. We had the selection of 10 small starters (which are actually not that small) and a main course each, which was probably too much. The starters are very fresh, mainly vegetarian (lentils, potatoes, aubergines, tzaziki, felafel -delicious-, couscous...) and served with flat bread. It's difficult to stop, even though you know there is a main course coming. I had grilled king prawns, which were lovely. They came with vegetables, sauces, and a mountain of rice. My husband had lamb with okra, which was very good, but he really struggled with the portion's size. Think doggy-bag. The deco is definitely middle eastern, but I find the place too big to be cosy. The service is fast. Definitely recommend the food.
