Akropolis Alzey in Alzey

We've been going to the Akropolis in Alzey on and off for years now...it's always consistently good...we really like it.

On the recommendation of some friends, we had lunch here on my birthday. The food was excellent, the service quick and attentive, and the restaurant looked lovely and was cozy. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

A truly fantastic Greek restaurant! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we entered. The service was very attentive, the food fresh and delicious. The owner's friendliness made the evening perfect. We'll definitely be back – highly recommended!

An all-around successful evening at the Akropolis in Alzey can only be rated with 5 stars. About the food: The food is worth the price; the gyro and turkey schnitzel (baked and regular) are fresh and very tasty. The pita bread and fries are also impressive. About the ambiance and service: The ambiance has also improved considerably with the renovation of the first floor; it's quite pleasant to sit there and less noisy than on the ground floor if it's busy, as it was for us. This also explains a misunderstanding with an order, which, however, was resolved with great effort and apologies. We'd be happy to come back!

Food very tasty, quantity sufficient, staff very friendly, prices fair

From 5 to 1 star Megalomania is now a thing... We've always enjoyed eating there for years. But now they're constantly cutting something else. It started with the Greek rice that always came as a side dish. Apparently, most guests didn't want it. Card payments are no longer possible, the fees are too high. Now they've also stopped serving ouzo? Or is it only available to select guests... Unfortunately, the value for money is no longer there, as you can see from the appetizer alone. Sorry, I always enjoyed coming here. But now I'm very careful about where I spend my money, which I also have to work for. That's how you drive your guests away, and word gets around.

The lunch menu was reasonably priced and very tasty. The restaurant is located right next to the train station. Apparently, a lot of people like it, because it was very busy.

Unfortunately, it's not really Greek, as there weren't even a single olive on the side salad, and unfortunately, there were only fries! Unfortunately, the place is incredibly loud, and normal conversation was impossible!

Actually, our favorite Greek restaurant until now, BUT: It's now very disappointing in terms of value for money. Firstly, Greek rice is now completely missing from the plates, and secondly, the portions are smaller, poorly presented, and the taste is no longer what we were used to. And all this at increased prices. For example, the schnitzels on the menu are now only offered as Wiener Schnitzel without sauce. This wasn't the case before. A (meager) portion of sauce (maybe 2 tablespoons in total) then costs €4.40 (!!). Some of our children had the children's schnitzel, and even here, they charged €4.40 per head for the sauce. You can easily overdo it... What a shame :-(

We are absolutely thrilled! Particularly noteworthy is the newly designed upper floor, which is modern and stylishly furnished - the perfect place to enjoy your meal and celebrate in peace with a larger group. The food is fantastic! It's quick, every dish tasted fresh and was lovingly prepared. The entire team is always very friendly, attentive and has a smile on their faces. A very familiar atmosphere! We would definitely like to come back!

Just as you would expect from a Greek restaurant, the food was okay. But the fact that card payments are no longer accepted is abysmal, especially for larger amounts, even though they offered this now common service until some time ago. Well, you can switch to another Greek in Alzey. . .

The Akropolis restaurant in Alzey impresses with excellent cuisine, warm service and an authentic ambience. Each dish is fresh, perfectly seasoned and full of Mediterranean flavors. The juicy gyros and the tender lamb dishes are particularly impressive across the board. The service is attentive, professional and always friendly. The child ordered schnitzel with salad, but was only served a small piece of meat and a lettuce leaf. Prices have risen sharply and quality has declined. We have been to this restaurant before and have been positively impressed each time. It was delicious and filling. This time it was just a negative experience, we were left hungry. We also had to wait a long time for our order to be taken, the waiters were not very friendly and it felt like they were ignoring us.

It's a shame when we were there for the first time, we liked it and were happy with everything. Went there again this year and were disappointed. Service didn't rush. We waited a long time for the waiters to take our order. The food wasn't enough. Especially meat. Very little served. The price has become more expensive. Instead of bringing extra salad, they only brought us a leaf of lettuce with the schnitzel. This looked more like decoration. Pay more for less food.

Today we ate at the Akropolis in Alzey for the first time. The service was very nice and accommodating. The service was very quick. The food tasted very good, we had nothing to complain about and it filled us up well. I would have liked Greek beer, which unfortunately wasn't on the menu, such as Mythos or Mamos. We recently visited this restaurant and overall had a lovely evening. The food was really great! Everything was super tasty, freshly prepared and the meat was juicy. There's really nothing wrong with that. The salad was okay, but only with half a tomato and a pepperoni. Could be more “colorful”. The ambience was fine. It was cozy and pleasant, but nothing extraordinary. It could perhaps be spruced up a bit in some places, but it worked. The toilets weren't great though. They are getting old and could use a renovation to make them look really inviting again. Nevertheless: The food was great and we will definitely come back.

Very nice attentive service, nice ambience and very good food

I would come again. It was very busy but the waiters were all on point and you didn't have to wait long to order drinks, starters, starter salads or main courses. There was also an ouzo at the beginning, which is typical for a Greek restaurant. I had the lamb plate (see photo) and it was really tender and delicious. I swapped fries for croquettes. The potato chips my partner had were also really tasty. You can park at the top of the train station, as it is the holiday season and it was a Saturday evening, there were enough parking spaces here.

First of all: The food deserves 3 stars, it didn't blow us away, but it wasn't bad either. But the service was a disaster. A total of 5 tables, some of which were occupied long after us, had already paid or had their food while we were still waiting. Our 3 children got their food after 30 minutes, we 4 adults only got their food after 1.5 hours. The children were already going crazy... when asked about it, all they said was: "The other tables were only occupied by 2 or 4 people, which is why they would get their food quicker than the 7 of us... Sorry, but I have something more stupid of an innkeeper rarely heard of! Never again!

Best Greek in the whole area. Despite the long journey, a regular guest for decades...

The food used to be better. The portions get smaller every year. The food is not bad but not particularly good either. Update December 2024 In a group of 18 people, 3 people fell ill spontaneously. Two adults and one child (3 years old) were charged a total of €70 as a “flat rate”. Absolute impudence. I won't go here anymore.

Large selection of dishes that are also very tasty. As expected, the meat is still juicy and not "fried to death" like many others. We have been there several times and have never regretted it. The ambience radiates coziness. The only negative thing is the noise level. When the restaurant is full (which it usually is), it quickly becomes very noisy. But still highly recommended

We recently had a Greek meal and it was a really enjoyable experience. As a starter I had the feta cream - a wonderfully creamy, spicy mixture that went perfectly with some freshly baked bread. The feta was well chosen and not too salty, giving the cream a balanced, pleasant texture. For the main course I chose the liver with metaxa sauce, and I loved it. The liver was tender and juicy, seared to perfection, and the metaxa sauce - a mix of herbs, spices and Greek metaxa - completed the dish beautifully. The sauce was flavorful and not too heavy, but enhanced the flavor of the liver without overpowering it. The entire dish was lovingly prepared and well portioned. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere in the restaurant made you feel comfortable with a rustic, Mediterranean flair. An all-round successful visit that we would be happy to repeat. If you love Greek cuisine and are looking for authentic, well-prepared dishes, this is the place for you.

We have eaten at Akropolis regularly over the past two years. We were always very satisfied, both the food and the service were always impeccable. About 14 days ago there was suddenly a note on the door saying that card payments were temporarily not possible. Well, a disruption is always possible. Yesterday we were there again for lunch and found out that card payments are no longer possible because the fees are too high. This decision is of course left to the operator, but when bill amounts are usually around €80 for two people or significantly higher for more than two people, cash payment is unacceptable. We're thinking about coming back. Actually, it's a shame.

It was the first time the four of us were together. Beautiful room decor, very nice service, delicious sweet white wine. Food... the best Greek food we have ever eaten. I recommend it with all my heart and see you next time.

Today I was here for the first time. We were positively impressed by the family atmosphere, the friendly and attentive staff and the food, absolutely delicious. We will definitely come back and recommend.

We had a wonderful evening at the Akropolis Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious and made with fresh, high quality ingredients - every bite was a delight! We were particularly impressed by the cleanliness of the entire restaurant, which immediately makes a very good impression. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive and professional, so we felt completely at home. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and you can feel the passion for Greek hospitality in every detail. Absolutely recommended – we will definitely be back!

We were here last week because we found a reference to gluten-free options on Google. We got a table even without a reservation, but later it was packed in the middle of the week. A good sign. A sumptuous menu with everything you would expect in a Greek restaurant. The declaration of the allergens was good, this is not the case everywhere. The food was very tasty and absolutely reasonably priced. We were served very friendly. If we ever go to Alzey again, we'd love to come back here.

Auf der Terrasse direkt am Bahnhof gelegen mit authentisch griechischer Küche haben wir uns sehr gut bedient gefühlt und Speisen und Getränke genossen. Sehr freundliches Personal, das uns bei der Heimfahrt zum Hotel ein Taxi besorgt hat.. Bei der Fülle von Weinfesten in der Umgebung ein kleines Wunder!1

The Acropolis is an institution in Alzey! I have enjoyed going there since it opened in 1988. You have to have an appetite because the portions are large. When I'm really hungry, I order No. 134 - baked bifteki. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends. If the weather is nice you can also sit outside.

Wir waren am 1.5.24 mit 3 Personen angereist zu einer Familienfeier mit 12 Personen. Insgesamt war die Bedienung Anfangs sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Leider war das Essen durchgehend im sehr nett bewerteten mittleren Segment. "totgebratenes" Fleisch, sehr trocken und alles ziemlich fade, ungewürzt. Man konnte jedoch natürlich z.B. eine kleine Portion Tzatziki zusätzlich bestelen (für satte 4€) und dieses bestand lediglich aus Quark mit etwas Schnittlauch. Es war nicht mal ein Hauch von Knoblauch herausschmeckbar. Auch andere Soßen waren gegen Aufpreis erhältlich (siehe Speisekarte) denn ohne ging es nicht. Bei den Salaten fehlte grundsätzlich eine Vinaigrette oder sonstiges Dressing. Eine kleine homöopathische "Taufe" aus Wasser und etwas Zitrone auf gerade mal den kleinen Tellerboden bedeckenden Eisbergsalatgrutzen mit einer Tomatenspalte und einer kleinen Pepperoni? Fazit: Aus Rücksichtsnahme gegenüber den Gastgebern haben wir nur diskret bei dem Servicepersonal auf die mangelhaften Speisen hingewiesen. Standardspruch: Geben wir an die Küche weiter..... Reguläre Öffnungszeiten: 11:30-14:00 Uhr. Wenn man überlegt dass man in der wirklich kurzen Zeit dort dann mehre 100€ gelassen hat.....war die kurze Familienfeier im Nachgang sehr enttäuschend. Für Akropolis jedoch sicher sehr lukrativ. Um 12:00 Uhr waren dann alle angereisten Gäste vor Ort. Gegen 13:30 Uhr wurde keine Getränkebestellung mehr angenommen. Nach dem Abtragen der Gedecke war niemand mehr vom Personal zu sehen. 13:40 Uhr wurde bereits unüberhseh- und höbar mit der Reinigung begonnen sowieVorhänge geschlossen und einiges mehr. Man fühlte sich eindringlich zum Aufbruch genötigt. Von Gastfreundschaft kann hier definitiv keine Rede sein. Abfüttern, zahlen und ab raus. So haben wir uns ein gemütliches Familientreffen bei gutem Essen wahrhaftig nicht vorgestellt. Also eher empfehlenswert für anspruchslose Schnellesser. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis passt absolut nicht. Jedoch muss jeder selbst seine Erfahrung machen. Definitiv war es unser erster und letzter Besuch. Trotzdem wünschen wir allen eine schöne Zeit dort und gelungene Familienfeiern! Sich auf ein seit 35-Jahren familiengeführtes und eigenständiges Unternehmen zu berufen genügt jedenfalls nicht.

Very tasty food and attentive service in a pleasant atmosphere.

The food is super tasty and still warm when you have to drive 10KM home. The portions are very large and only 1 in 4 was able to eat everything. You have to say super friendly!! EDIT: I ate in the restaurant for the first time yesterday (otherwise just picked up) and the food is still great! However, the volume in the restaurant is so unpleasant that you can't have a conversation. That's why I have to deduct a star (as of May 2024)

Die Räumlichkeiten fand ich gemütlich und elegant. Die Tische stehen auch nicht zu nah beieinander. Das Essen kam rasch, auch die Bedienung war freundlich. Das Fleisch war leider sehr trocken und das gesamte Essen fad. Tzatziki bestand aus Quark mit etwas Schnittlauch, keinerlei Knoblauchgeschmack erkennbar. Der Salat schmeckte, als sei er lediglich mit Wasser und einem Spritzer Zitrone getränkt worden.Viertel vor 14 Uhr wurde bereits mit der Reinigung begonnen, Boden gefegt, Vorhänge geschlossen etc. so dass jede Gemütlichkeit zunichte gemacht wurde und man sich nicht mehr willkommen fühlte. Da bin ich vom Griechen besseres gewohnt!

Great menu with tasty dishes. I would recommend reservation!

Das Ambiente ist großzügig und ansprechend, wobei man als lärmempfindlicher Mensch gleich zu Beginn der Öffnungszeiten kommen sollte, da es später ziemlich laut wird. Der Service ist exzellent und geradezu formvollendet; besser geht es kaum. Bei der Küche hingegen ist noch Verbesserungspotential. Die Garnelen Saganaki waren ganz in Ordnung, doch ich habe sie anderswo schon feiner und aromatischer zubereitet gegessen. Meine Lammhaxe war einwandfrei, doch die Gyros meiner Begleiterin waren etwas zäh und zu stark gesalzen. Schön fand ich, dass man Altbier bestellen konnte. Das kommt in Rheinhessen kaum noch vor.

Unfortunately the food was not up to par with a Greek restaurant. Starter Tzaziki with unroasted white bread. The salad consisted of two cut leaves of iceberg lettuce surrounded by four tomato wedges...we have never had anything so careless served at a Greek restaurant. Unfortunately, the main course wasn't a revelation either. Gyros totally rushed and liver fried to death. We then skipped dessert. A pity

Everything is great at Acropolis! Good food, although I found the salad to be rather carelessly prepared and lacking in taste. The dressing was virtually non-existent. We were served quickly and the food was beautifully presented. The waiting times were also reasonable. Of course there was also the usual ouzo as an appetizer. Whether it makes sense these days to only allow card payments from 30 EUR should be reconsidered. The toilets are clean but old and could perhaps be renovated. I personally also found the door in the basement to the warehouse to be wide open to be extremely unpleasant. The things mentioned in the last paragraph make me not click the 5th star.

Keine schöne Atmosphäre, Gastraum gleicht eher einer Bahnhofswartehalle und es ist dementsprechend sehr laut.Eine normale Unterhaltung mit dem Gegenüber war teilweise gar nicht möglich.Die Auswahl an Speisen wie überall. Die Qualität und Art der Zubereitung durchschnittlich.Es gibt weitaus bessere und authentischere griechische Lokale.Leider keine Empfehlung von uns.

Auf der Suche nach einem griech. Restaurant im Raum Alzey sind wir, verleitet durch Bewertungen auf Google, hier gelandet. Vorab, wir gehen gerne und oft griech. Essen. Ohne reservieren haben wir am Samstag noch einen Tisch bekommen. Das Ambiente ist eher wie in einer Bahnhofshalle und entsprechend laut. Aber das ist ja eine subjektive Darstellung. Die Bedienung erfolgte schnell und die Getränke kamen zügig. Die Auswahl an Gerichten in der Speisekarte ist, wobei auffällt, das es bei Kartoffelbeilagen nur Pommes gibt. Wir hatten aus Vorspeise eine Kalte, gemischte Platte. Die Menge ist sehr übersichtlich, nicht zuletzt, weil Groß Salatblaetter als Grundlage dienen. Das dazu gereichte Brot ist ein Baguette, was eher befremdlich ist. Meist gibt es Pita oder Fladenbrot. Bei den georderte Hauptspeisen gab es einen Salat dazu. Sowohl optisch als auchgeschmacklich eine Enttäuschung. Die Hauptspeisen waren soweit okay. Nochmals werden wir hier nicht essen.

Nice evening in humorous company

First of all: no chance without a reservation! There were three of us here on Sunday evening and it was really full. It was therefore very loud and table conversations were difficult. Tip: Something sound-absorbing would definitely make it more pleasant. The service was courteous and always very friendly, the kitchen was super structured and fast despite being busy, and really tasty too! We weren't there for very long, thanks to the noise in the room, but the taste was definitely recommended!

Sehr nettes Personal und sehr schönes Restaurant in dem auch Hunde wilkommen sind. Es war ein sehr schöner Abend.
