Great restaurant, can only be recommended

Visit September 26, 2025, 6:00 PM My truffle pasta was simply tasteless. The truffle was sold to me as a winter truffle (€7 for 1 gram), and when I asked if it was still too early for winter truffles, I was told the truffle was aromatic. I think it was a Chinese truffle. I should have simply returned the meal. In the end, I only had pasta drenched in butter with a homeopathic dose of Parmesan cheese. The salad before and the meat dish weren't particularly special either. For €120, a starter, two main courses, two 0.1 liters of wine, and water, the evening was culinary-wise too dull. The waiter was very friendly and attentive.

The ambiance and service were good. There were four of us there, and we all had delicious food. I had the gnocchi. It was delicious. But for me, it was just an appetizer. The plate was barely covered. I don't even want to imagine what a small portion would have looked like. My wife immediately chuckled when my plate arrived. So, for that price, there's definitely room for a bit more, considering the food isn't that expensive.

I'm not giving the service a star because it was nonexistent and a joke. We waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for our food, and when we asked, they only gave us an estimated arrival time. Once the dishes arrived, in addition to being bad, once we told them, instead of helping us solve the problem, they just said they weren't doing well and walked away. I won't return to this place. A real disgrace.

Service was extremely slow, 1h20 for food to be served for a table of 10, which is too much. When we requested an update, we received no apologies, just an estimated time we would need to wait. I took the salmon with mash potatoes, salmon and sauce was delicious, I can’t say the same for the over-salted potato, which was impossible to eat. When I complained, I only received a “sorry” and no meaningful solution.

Great Italian trattoria. I had the burrata and the pizza diavola. Both were excellent. The pizza stands out because it doesn't have that unbearable spiciness, but rather a good, subtle spiciness.

Unfortunately, our expectations weren't quite met. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly and noticed the pleasant ambiance. The menu is okay, but the selection could be improved. The service was pleasant. We should have skipped the bruschetta; it was manageable in terms of quantity and flavor! For example, the menu mentioned garlic, but you couldn't taste it. The zucchini starter with cream cheese was better. The main courses arrived after some time, sitting on uncomfortable chairs. They were overly seasoned. The chicken salad was really spicy, and the mushrooms, or rather, the sauce, were also too spicy, with umami, so to speak... Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place.

We learned from a SWR broadcast about the Maultaschen Festival in Metzingen that chef Benedict Schulz was cooking his own signature ravioli in Andernach. As lovers of pasta and Italian cuisine, we immediately made a reservation at Ai Pero, Pur's Italian Restaurant. The main course: three ravioli filled with fresh goat cheese, spinach, onions, and an egg yolk that should still be runny when cut into the plate. The ravioli were garnished with chanterelle mushrooms and guanciale die maiale (pork cheek). The ingredients and the combination were surprising. A taste experience and a delicious variation on classic ravioli. Both the excellent kitchen and the friendly and attentive service team made our stay at the restaurant very pleasant. We had a lovely evening. The menu reads very well and makes it difficult to decide. Both the appetizer, which was delicious and ambitious, and the pasta and pizza were delicious. The appetizer took a while to arrive, which we personally didn't mind, but the waiter offered us a free drink, which we found very thoughtful. We'll be back :)

The ambiance and food deserve a 5* rating, but the service depended on who came to the table. For the most part, everyone was friendly and attentive. There was a small issue with the bill, however, which was quickly resolved after we pointed it out.

We were able to enjoy a convivial summer evening during a business dinner on the beautifully situated terrace – accompanied by superbly paired dishes and a select selection of drinks. The quality of the ingredients, the presentation of the dishes, and the warm hospitality leave no doubt: gastronomy is still a top priority here. The only minor criticism was the somewhat long wait between courses – but this was easily overcome with good wine and stimulating conversation. We would love to come back! What good are nice phrases and friendly language if the message isn't there? The atmosphere was pleasant.

A fantastic Italian restaurant located right in the Hotel am Ochsentor. A very nice ambiance, modern, with a touch of industrial design, but still very warm and pleasant. A good selection of good wines, excellent cuisine with fantastic creations. The excellent service is particularly noteworthy: friendly, attentive, and never intrusive. Exemplary. Highly recommended. 5 stars. You definitely won't be disappointed here.

The ambience is original and tasteful, but also a bit noisy. If you're unlucky enough to sit in the courtyard when the weather's nice, you'll find yourself staring at a concrete wall while eating. The food is excellent and good value for money, and the creativity of the cuisine sets it apart from other restaurants. Vegetables, pasta, meat – everything is cooked to perfection and of good quality. Cons: The wine is significantly overpriced, so even the large and good selection isn't enjoyable. Worst of all is the service. Having eaten here several times, unfortunately, this isn't an isolated incident, but rather the norm. I no longer believe the constant assurances that you'll have to talk to your staff about it. Train your staff properly or don't bother! Examples: You haven't even sat down properly yet, and they're already making a persistent attempt to sell you an aperitif. This is beyond intrusive. On the other hand, the food comes without any accompanying drinks because they simply forgot to bring them. The second time, the gentleman's drink arrives, but the lady has to wait even longer because it was forgotten again. In fact, the waiter assigned to our table avoids approaching us for the rest of the evening. It's a shame, because we would have liked to order more drinks. However, he appears remarkably often at the neighboring table with four young ladies who—unsurprisingly—are attentively looked after throughout the evening and, although they arrived after us, are served earlier. Of course, the four of them are already paying, fully taken care of, while we are still waiting for the dessert menu. Unfortunately, dessert and espresso don't arrive at the same time. Conclusion: We won't tolerate good food with bad service in the long run.

This was my second time there! The food was very, very good both times! The service yesterday was also really great! We were shown straight to our seats, and the waiter who served us was great! I'd call him "unassuming," but very attentive. We really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we think he was off duty, and we felt a bit lost because the other service staff weren't quite as attentive as he was. But eventually, they took care of us, and it was all great! We loved the glimpse into the kitchen. And the ambiance is beautiful! Great wine to go with the meal! A successful evening for us. The only thing was the saffron aioli, which wasn't to my taste at all. It also tasted a bit like "refrigerated." But that didn't detract from the food at all! We'll be back!

Four of us ate at Ai Pero today. Both pizzas were expensive but good. The fish for the main course was okay but quite small. The menu also left something to be desired. The asparagus salad as a starter was very good. The lamb for the main course was a bit tough. The side dish consisted of two half tablespoons of polenta, each with a small piece of asparagus and a small bean. Dessert wasn't great but okay. You can't get full from it. I then ordered a bread basket for a fee and ate the very good sauce from the main course with it.

We chose the 4-course menu and were not disappointed. All the food was delicious and beautifully presented, the staff was friendly, attentive and professional. The atmosphere is very chic, but still simple. We particularly liked the view of the open kitchen. Price-performance is right. Unfortunately we didn't get to try the pizza because we were already too full, but we'll do it later.

The atmosphere is very pleasant. The staff is not well trained. Unfortunately, the food itself wasn't convincing either. The food was lukewarm and tasted rather disappointing. The fish wasn't really warm either. The colleague completely forgot about the dish. I would have expected much more for the prices. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. There are definitely better alternatives in the area where price performance is better.

From the beginning, with Josef as our host, we were very impressed by the warm but unobtrusive service, the quality and quantity of the food, the balanced, individual architecture/interior.

We always like to go to Ai Pero when we want some more upscale Italian cuisine. The portions and the price-performance ratio are perfectly fine. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the tiramisu. Unfortunately, the description on the menu does not indicate in any way that it is a "house-style tiramisu", which no longer really has anything to do with a "normal" tiramisu. The base is made of thick sponge cake soaked in Amaretto. I thought the cream on it was the worst. This is extremely thick and very, very powerful. It was clearly stiffened with agar agar powder. Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with the delicious mascarpone cream of a tiramisu, which I found very unfortunate.

My husband and I went to Ai Pero for dinner on Christmas Day and we had a really great evening! From the first moment to the last we received extremely friendly, courteous and attentive service and advice (from Diana? I'm not sure about the name). My husband had the Christmas menu, I chose a la carte and we were both absolutely thrilled! My fried octopus was to die for, the ravioli was remarkable and the sea bream on pearl barley risotto was great. But then the dessert was a treat: polenta flammeri with chocolate ice cream and tangerine espuma! Overall, all the dishes were very original and sophisticated in taste and beautifully presented. The wine recommendations for the meal were great and we were particularly impressed by the fact that we were allowed to try the wines in advance - even though they were open wines - and could change them if we didn't like them. So all in all a really great evening with great food and outstanding service - thank you very much for that!

Once again in AI Piero. The restaurant maintains the class in food and service for me for the 3 years that I have known it. A uniquely wide selection of top wines with expert sommelier advice. This time I followed the recommendation and ate the monkfish - the top fish in itself and excellently prepared. Nicely garnished with a bean puree. A tiramisu with a matching wine at the end is a must and is definitely of high quality.

We were there with our children. The high chair was arranged over the phone and everything was perfectly set up. Even though there were 12 of us, the food came at the same time. We had the mixed starter plate twice, but 12 small plates came to share without being asked. Completely successful. At the end, the children were allowed to exchange a glance with the pizza maker. So we felt really comfortable and the food was very good.

However, the starter turned into a pizza for two because we could only make a reservation at a late date - it would have been nice to have been informed about this, then we would have decided on another restaurant. The main courses, braised chicken and monkfish, were fine and nicely presented, but the taste was average for the price range. The atmosphere is cozy, but nothing special. Overall it was a solid experience. We expected more.

We received an extremely warm welcome for dinner with my wife. The restaurant has a modern and elegant atmosphere and is spotlessly clean, including the toilets. The menu is interesting and stands out from the classic Italian restaurant by offering creative and sophisticated interpretations by the hand of the chef. The wine list is very comprehensive and offers excellent options to suit all tastes. The service is extremely professional and courteous, with competent staff who can provide good advice and manage times perfectly. We were very impressed overall with the experience and in particular with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Highly recommended.

Atmosphere nice, food very good, service unfortunately really bad. It took around half an hour until the wine we ordered was on the table (around 15 minutes until we were informed that the first wine we ordered was not available). We had the four course menu. It took an hour to get to the first course. Total 2.5 hours for 4 courses. In the end the wine was on the bill twice. We waited in vain for the promised surprise as compensation for the fact that my reservation for the Michelin-starred restaurant Purs, which I made 6 months before the appointment, was canceled 2 weeks beforehand. With a bill of €190 for 2 people, the service is unacceptable. Overall, I was very disappointed with Purs' culinary offerings. Yoso closed, kicked out of the Purs star restaurant 2 weeks in advance, so that no comparable alternative could be organized, desolate service at Ai Pero. Too bad.

Some time ago I went to this trattoria with my husband by chance because I was very impressed by the posted menu. The menu was quite clear, but the dishes offered were authentic and sounded very good. For me personally, a small menu is always a guarantee of fresh and lovingly prepared food - a large menu cannot meet this requirement. Since I lived in Italy for a few years, I can judge the preparation, freshness and quality of the products quite well. My conclusion: I was thrilled! I have never had Italian food of this quality in Germany. That's why we went there again today. The welcome from the service was again very polite and friendly. They took our drink requests and handed us a bread basket with excellent, freshly baked bread so that I could enjoy this crunchy delicacy with the excellent olive oil that was also available. Since I wasn't very hungry, I tried grilled octopus, squid with fish variations and fennel as well as a saffron mayonnaise as a starter. It was simply delicious! Then I chose the daily recommendation, Fritto misto with seafood and fish. Except in Naples or Campania, I have never eaten this dish so well prepared. Afterwards I tried homemade ravioli with ricotta-lime filling, parmesan foam and crunch. Afterwards I didn't manage to try any of the delicious sounding main courses on offer - I was simply full. I would have liked to have given the trout, oyster mushrooms or fish another chance, but I had to pass. We then ordered espresso, which was prepared to a high quality using the portafilter machine. Afterwards we somehow managed to at least try the tiramisu with raspberries and pistachio ice cream. It was extremely delicious and, as is usual in Italy, made with mascarpone without cream. The ice cream was a delight! Conclusion: Small, clear, authentic menu of Italian starters, primi piatti and main courses. Small selection of desserts. But the ingredients were of outstanding quality, absolutely fresh and skilfully prepared, showing a lot of knowledge of Italian cuisine. The service is extremely friendly, fast, attentive and very polite. The espresso was as I expected: the best quality and not, as is often the case in Germany, from a coffee machine. I was happy and deserved to praise the chef! I will be very happy to come back, especially since I absolutely love the wood-fired pizza!!!! I would like to try it, which is baked in the Roman style, i.e. with a thin and crunchy base. I have never found this high quality standard in an Italian restaurant in Germany. So if you want to eat carbonara with cream, pasta gratinated with Gouda or Edam, if you like your pizza as thick as yeast cake and with German grated cheese instead of mozzarella or burrata, if you like to eat tomato cream sauces and Aurora sauces, this trattoria is not suitable for you. However, anyone who appreciates classic Italian cuisine, appreciates the freshness of the products used and the loving and time-consuming preparation will be thrilled! Very disappointing evening. We were really looking forward to the meal. My wife ordered a pizza salami (spicy) and I ordered a normal pizza salami. When it was served I was brought a pizza margerita or something similar and my wife's pizza had a strange one Taste. Apparently they had made a mistake in the seasoning. To avoid discussions, we choked down the food. The selection on the menu is very poor. There is neither Rigattoni gratinated nor almost any other selection of pasta dishes. I also have one on the Only a mixed leaf salad was found on the menu. What kind of restaurant is this that calls itself Italian? The Italians where we usually eat always offer 6-8 different salads and pasta dishes. The staff was a bit too pushy for me and ended up charging me 4 for every 3 cokes I drank. We left the restaurant disappointed. I don't think we'll do it again drive there.

We were here visiting family and found a wonderful restaurant where we could eat: five adults and one child. The welcome was warm, welcoming and very positive. We were seated immediately and felt welcome. The wine recommendation was excellent! We had four pizzas and an entrecôte. All pizzas had a very delicate taste, the size was perfect - not too big and not too small - and the entrecôte was cooked to perfection. What was particularly impressive was that the pizza maker greeted us personally and had a short chat with us. We ordered a few desserts which we placed in the middle. Unfortunately, our expectations were too high and the taste of the desserts unfortunately ruined the delicious taste of our main course. Very unfortunate. Nevertheless, the evening was overall very positive. Such a special staff is really a rarity and made a very positive impression on our evening. Ai Pero offers a welcoming and cozy atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed meal. The service at Ai Pero was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive and ensured that all requests were met. The caprese pizza at Ai Pero was excellent. The dough was perfectly crispy, thin and had just the right amount of caramelization. The tomato slices were fresh and juicy, the mozzarella was of high quality. The fresh basil and a touch of olive oil rounded off the taste. A visit to Ai Pero is definitely recommended, especially for lovers of Italian cuisine.

Unfortunately our visit to Au Pero was a huge disappointment. The portions were tiny and the taste was very bland. The fish in particular was dry and inedible. The recommended wine didn't go well with our dish at all and couldn't save the disappointing meal. The service was also extremely intrusive. Attentive service looks different. We definitely won't come here again. It's a shame about the evening and the money.

Disappointing experience at Ai Pero restaurant We recently celebrated with a larger group at the Ai Pero restaurant and would like to share our experiences. In the run-up to the event, the consultation was a bit unstructured, but overall okay. The location itself is very attractive and offers a nice atmosphere for celebrations. Unfortunately, the quality of the food on the evening of the event did not match our previous positive experiences at Ai Pero. Also, most of the dishes were served cold, which was very disappointing. In addition, some points discussed were not implemented as agreed, which further marred the evening. A low point, however, was the handling of the drinks. Extremely expensive digestifs were served without our prior consent - 15 euros for 1 cl is a shameless rip-off. We were very generous and deliberately ignored the prices, but this brazen approach crosses the boundaries of what is acceptable. Our legitimate complaint about this was discussed away and no accommodation was shown. Such unprofessional behavior is not only disappointing, but also an absolute disgrace. We felt like we were not taken seriously as customers and that we were literally being taken advantage of. Overall, our event at Ai Pero was a disappointment. Due to this negative experience, we will avoid this restaurant in the future and cannot recommend it to others.

Wir sind wegen des Spargelrisottos dorthin gegangen, weil es uns die Woche davor schon so gut geschmeckt hatte. Und das Risotto war sogar noch besser! Unglaublich cremig und dazu der bißfeste Spargel. Es war ein Genuss. Absolut lobenswert ist der Service. Nie gestresst, immer zuvorkommend und hoch professionell.

Unfortunately we didn't have a nice evening here. The restaurant acts very chic, but it's not really. It was immediately clear that we wanted to eat vegetarian and order the vegetarian menu - then we were served tartare. Of course we assumed that it was vegetarian - that was clear beforehand. It turned out to be tuna. The staff were visibly uncomfortable and apologized very often - afterwards the mood was clearly tense. As an apology we were treated to a glass of wine and shown the breakfast room (why?), which somehow didn't make up for it for us. Unfortunately, the food was just okay overall, the giant cauliflower as the main course was quite unspectacular. Unfortunately, the only thing that was spectacular was the discomfort the night after, thanks to 20 years of abstinence from meat. Overall, from our point of view, it's quite a failure.

Es war erneut ein hervorragender Abend. Das Essen ist wirklich absolute Spitze! Abzug gibt es leider noch beim Service, wir wurden in den Pausen zwischen den Gängen mehrfach "vergessen" und mussten dann doch relativ lange warten. Insgesamt merkt man aber, dass an der Verbesserung im Service gearbeitet wird. Uns hat das Warten den Abend nicht verschlechtert, das Essen holt die gute Laune allemal wieder zurück. Top Restaurant, wir kommen gerne Wieder.

We went to Ai Pero for the lunch buffet on Easter Sunday. The food was extremely tasty, the service was attentive and very friendly. The pasta in the parmesan loaf was wonderful. The ambience is really nice and the furnishings fit together very well. The next weekend we made reservations again for the evening because we wanted to try the much-mentioned and praised pizza. “Stay as you are and keep it up” to the whole team. Sehr schönes Restaurant mit freundlichem Service und guter Pizza.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Abend mit einem leckeren Essen. Zusätzlich zum vorgegebenen Menü gab es noch einen Sekt, ein Amuse Gülle und Petit four. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war ausgesprochen gut, der Service zeigte ganz leichte Schwächen. 

Sehr freundliches Persoal, nette, ruhige Atmosphäre. Mit dem Frühstücksangebot waren wir sehr zufrieden. Neben diversen Eierpeisen, Wurst , Käse und Lachs natürlich auch mediterrane Köstlichkeiten dazu unbegrenzt Kaffe, Cappuccino, Espresso oder div. Teesorten. Das Gläschen Sekt durfte bei unserem Sonntagsfrühstück natürlich auch nicht fehlen. Alles in Allem sehr empfehlenswert.

Ist mal etwas anderes als „normale“ Lokale aufmerksames, sehr nettes & viel Personal sehr gute Auswahl verschiedenster Gerichte & Speisen, besondere Zusammenstellung abseits vom alltäglichen, preislich für jeden was dabei. Ein sehr angenehmer Abend zum Start ins bevorstehende Osterwochenende.

Schönes Ambiente und köstliches Essen. Es wird zu jeder Zeit vermittelt, dass der Gast willkommen ist. Auch Sonderwünsche sind machbar.

This was our first visit to the trattoria. The occasion was my birthday. I was very surprised by the congratulations card on the table and the very courteous welcome! The service was very good and we were able to place our order promptly, even though many tables were occupied. The mixed starter plate was really very good! Great selection, great quality. The taste is also great! Since we had a direct view of the kitchen and the pizza oven, we also ordered pizza. Here again, very good quality of the processed food. Really airy but crispy dough. A piece of Italy. When we wanted to pay, I was treated to a dessert and a birthday serenade in Italian. Unfortunately we have more than 1.5 hours of travel time, otherwise we would definitely be guests more often! Thank you for the lovely evening

Essen sehr schön angerichtet. Leider salzig. Service sehr gut, wirkt etwas aufgesetzt. Sehr professionell aber kühl. Etwas lockerer wäre schön. Preise sind hoch
