Ahoi Steffen Henssler Travemünde in Lübeck

This was our second – but now also our last – time there. The first time, we thought it was a typical tourist spot, but we returned a year later because the location is really beautiful and the accessibility by boat is great. But that can't make up for everything. As soon as we took our order, it was clear to us that the employee seemed a bit overwhelmed and that there might be problems with the order. And so it was: instead of two drinks for two people, we only got one and the starter didn't arrive at all. In the meantime, the waitress had changed and someone else brought us the main course. When we mentioned that we were still missing our starter, the waitress seemed completely unimpressed and even then the starter didn't arrive. The main courses were mediocre; you can tell it's not about quality, but quantity, and even the sweet potato fries were sometimes undercooked. At the end, when the bill was taken, waitress 1 came back and asked if everything had arrived. When we pointed out for the second time that it hadn't, the bill was reduced without any further comment of regret, and that was that. We don't need to talk about customer satisfaction here. Anyone who values ​​a clean toilet or sink without paper scraps, etc., should probably wait. In general, it quickly becomes clear that they're trying to hide behind the Henssler name and thus justify mediocre quality – whether this is actually what they intend...

We went for Sunday lunch and decided on Ahoi. Firstly, because of the great location, and secondly, to try it out. We had the classic fish & chips and the teriyaki burger with fries. Despite the seemingly simple nature of the dishes, the kitchen managed to give them a special touch 🫶👏 truly delicious!! However, I would like to add one more comment: Please use a milder or less mustard on the burger next time 🍔, it was too overpowering... But otherwise, really great 👌 We were on a motorbike tour from SN to Priwall and can highly recommend it. We will definitely be back for dinner and a bite to eat. Best regards, Sven

Very friendly staff, prompt service, and excellent quality are what set this restaurant apart. Children are welcome and are delighted by the staff with small, friendly gestures and gifts when their parents are unable to provide them. We will definitely go back! Kevin is a brilliant server!

Home after more than 2 hours without food ... The waiter's service was perfect, but it was probably the kitchen's fault (as always, people you don't see). The first photo shows our table waiting for an hour, but unfortunately, no food had arrived. The waiter was also slow on several occasions. The table next to us ordered after us but got their food first... For whatever reason... We're waiting now; an hour has passed since we ordered. As you can see from the photos, the restaurant is only a third full... We're still waiting for our food... We reserved the table at 7:30 p.m. It's now 9:00 p.m. The only thing that's ready is a single appetizer. We're still not being noticed. We're still waiting for our food. I think we either fell asleep or the restaurant will close before we get our food. Our recommendation is simply: If you're hungry, go somewhere else to eat. Unfortunately, we don't have any way to advertise the quality yet. In retrospect, the quality was probably good. It's a shame we expected more 🤷🏻‍♂️ but that's just how it is sometimes. The fourth photo shows the food delivery after 1 hour and 30 minutes. Not everything arrived... The rest had to wait... In the end, we had two meals out of seven... Unfortunately, there were no more.

Down-to-earth cuisine with a modern twist, deliciously prepared with high-quality ingredients. The service is excellent! Friendly, attentive, and witty. The whole experience is topped off by a fantastic, modern ambiance and a prime location. It's a must-visit in the evenings, especially after 6 p.m., when the ferries from Scandinavia arrive. Despite the famous name and location, the value for money is excellent.

The service staff is friendly, and the interior is nicely decorated. We ate there as a family at lunchtime and had a short wait for our food. This was perfectly acceptable. The food was tasty, but the schnitzel tasted of fish. We would have liked more individual dishes and a children's area.

The food is solid. The price is so-so, and the service is subpar. If you're lucky and get served, you feel like you should leave quickly.

This AHOI restaurant was great, the staff was fantastic, the view was amazing, and the bowl was fantastic.

Tuna sashimi is our favorite. Everything was delicious, but unfortunately, it took so long in the evening. That wasn't great. There were four of us in total. It took three hours to eat. That was too long.

Since we had a voucher, we visited Ahoi Steffen Henssler. Reserving a table was no problem. Even being half an hour early wasn't a problem at all. Our server was very, very friendly. The house lemonade was delicious. The chicken burger was also tasty, but here's a little tip for the kitchen: I had to cut the lump of chicken into strips and put them back on the burger. This made the burger much easier to eat, and it actually tasted better that way. The fries were very good and crispy. The amount of mayonnaise for €1 was absolutely ridiculous. Otherwise, it could be more inviting, cozy, and cleaner in some places.

We were at the Ahoi restaurant on Priwall in Travemünde today and were more than disappointed. Despite it being very quiet, we still hadn't even received our food after waiting for over an hour. No information, no warning, nothing. Only when we asked were we helplessly told that there was only one person in the kitchen – they couldn't give us a clear answer as to how long it would take. A warning when ordering, or at the latest after 30 minutes, would have been the bare minimum. Instead, we were left completely in the dark. Completely unacceptable for us – we paid for the drinks and left. Treating guests like this is unprofessional and disrespectful. We're certain: Never again.

Delicious, child-friendly, great value for money, and a great location. We popped in spontaneously after a walk. Despite our stroller and child, we were welcomed and were able to immediately choose a lovely table outside with the best view of the beach and the Trave estuary. Our waiter made a small mistake while ordering, so we got fried fish instead of schnitzel for our little one, but this was rectified immediately and very friendly. For us parents, we shared an appetizer and bowls for the main course, and we were very, very satisfied. Thank you and we'll be back!

Nice ambiance, but we were very disappointed with the food. For €14.50, we got a burger with a leaf of lettuce, a chicken patty half the size, and a slice of tomato... the description specifically stated "with brioche bun and romaine lettuce"... yes, the lettuce was the one small leaf on the burger. We mentioned it, and the burger was taken away, but then she came back with it and said that the chef thought it was the way it should be. I had a bowl, but the rice wasn't proper sushi rice and was very watery. A bit disappointing for the price. But it's perfect for a drink, and there's always a beautiful view of the water and promenade.

The food was very good, the service couldn't have been worse. Hardly anyone was there, our drinks were empty, and we were never asked if everything was okay. We sat with our empty plates for almost 20 minutes, no dessert or coffee, and no one came. We had a really bad service! We waited forever for the bill, but the staff behind the bar were having a great time and were entertaining!

Local branch of a chain. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Nice atmosphere inside, terrace on the boulevard side, and terrace overlooking the sea and beach. A great location for dinner during your (beach) vacation.

It was my sister's birthday and she reserved a table online 2-3 weeks in advance. When we got there, we could choose whether to eat inside or outside. We chose outside. My sister and I sat at the table in question and waited until we received the menus. However, the wait was in vain, so we asked again. Here, too, we had to wait a very long time. Only when we asked another waitress to give us the menus did we get them. Waiting for the menus alone took about 15 minutes. After we ordered, our drinks arrived after a while (we ordered drinks and food together). My sister and I waited for our food, but in vain. We didn't want to be pushy and ask where our food was right away, so we just waited. At some point, we noticed that at least three other tables, who arrived much later than us, already had their food. At some point, even the waitress noticed that we were still waiting. After a total of 1.5 hours, our food finally arrived. We ordered at 7:40 p.m., and the food arrived at 9:25 p.m. And to top it all off, they turned off the lights on the terrace (we only had the lights from inside) because the restaurant closes at 10 p.m. At least that was some compensation; we could choose a free dessert. Conclusion: The food was delicious and warm. However, we were simply forgotten, and there was no real, heartfelt apology. Unfortunately, this ruined our evening, as it consisted only of waiting. We definitely wouldn't go back, as the food wasn't anything special compared to another restaurant. What a shame...

We were assigned a table with the information that it could take up to an hour for the food to arrive after ordering. After 15 minutes without even being asked about our drink preferences, we left.

It's good that Steffen Henssler sold the restaurants; it's a shame they're allowed to continue dragging his name through the mud. A 25-minute wait for an order. Then another 50 minutes for the food to arrive. My wife's salad was missing two of the listed ingredients. The burger and currywurst were quite good, the fries were the best. But you somehow expect more from a Henssler restaurant; it's still a matter of taste, and others might like it better. The colleague who took over the situation for us out of necessity was very nice, but he couldn't fix what his colleague, the kitchen, and especially the management had messed up.

We got close to the restaurant, but couldn't find anywhere to park. There was supposed to be a parking lot to the right of the ferry (on our way back), but it was only for five cars, so we took the ferry to the other side of the Trave. We won't be coming back!

The food was truly delicious, and the view of the sea was truly magnificent. The restaurant is beautifully and comfortably decorated, and blankets are handed out when it gets chilly in the evening. However, the service is unfortunately very poor; we waited about 1.20 hours for the food (it only came after we asked, as the service at the neighboring tables was moving a bit faster). During this time, the wait staff barely paid us any attention; they didn't ask if we wanted anything else to drink (our glasses had already been empty for a good quarter of an hour). You had to make yourself known so clearly that you sometimes felt ignored. Even for a simple drink order, you had to wait a disproportionately long, in our opinion.

So, all in all – first and last time. Waited almost 90 minutes for the food. Staff overwhelmed. Ordered medium rump steak – it was simply tough, impossible to eat. Tuna bowl – you could only taste a bit of that chili sauce.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed and cannot recommend it. Even during the process, it was clear that the place was very disorganized and not customer-focused. While the concept sounds like relaxed dining with steak, burgers, bowls, and the like, the execution feels more like chaotic fast food. Unfortunately, without the "fast" element. Despite having a reservation for seven people, we only received our appetizer (2x edamame) after 1.5 hours (!) upon request. Meanwhile, guests around us who arrived later were served much faster. On the way to the restroom, we saw numerous finished plates sitting under the heat lamp that simply hadn't been brought to the tables. After a total of 3 hours (!), our main course finally arrived. And this was also disappointing: • Fries overcooked • Wrong burger • No mayonnaise ordered • Portions sometimes very small for the price The remaining dishes were "okay" at best, but anything but what you'd expect from a restaurant bearing Steffen Henssler's name. Another couple even left without a main course. That really says it all. We did get a discount in the end, but it couldn't save the evening. For our last evening of vacation, it was a disappointment, a real waste of time and anticipation.

We ate here and enjoyed both cold and hot drinks. The view is beautiful, and we sat very comfortably and windlessly right on the beach. The food was warm, delicious, and beautifully presented. The service was good and friendly.

We were relatively disappointed this time. The reservation was made after a birthday, but unfortunately no one took this into account. The tables were dirty, some of the chairs were broken. Plants were growing between the cracks on the terrace, and the glass panes were dirty. It seemed very unkempt. We waited an hour for the food without a word from the service. When the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm. The steak was soggy from standing under the heat lamp for so long, even though I wanted it medium. I searched in vain for pepper and salt and it was put out too late. After asking if anything was missing, my wife said the cutlery was actually quite nice. Some of the fries were over-fried. Given the concept of a small, modern menu, I was completely out of touch. The well-known chef was obviously just passing on his name and not his knowledge of good service. What a pity. I am unfortunately very disappointed.

Unfortunately it was a really bad experience here. We waited over 1 hour for the starters which was just edamame and over 2 hours for our food (burgers). Once we received it, the burger was cold and the potatoes hot.. they also had several things wrong in the order. They did give us a 20% discount and shots to compensate, but it didnt really seem that the service cared, it seemed they were used to having this problem. We also noticed they other people had the same problem, and a couple even left after waiting for 2 hours for their food. The food quality.. as previously stated the burger was cold, and some items on the order were wrong. In general, the food quality was good but nothing special, expect something like Dean & David or burgers like Burger Me but with a huge 2 hour waiting time.

We went here on the last night of our trip hoping for a relaxed evening and good food, but the experience was very disappointing. It took one full hour just to get a simple edamame starter, and only after asking four times. In total, we waited two hours for our food, which was finally served only when we said we were about to leave. To be fair, our server was trying her best, but it was obvious that the real problem lies in the poor management. It creates a terrible experience not just for customers, but also for the staff who seem stuck in a stressful environment. When the food finally arrived, it was just average nothing special and overpriced for the quality. Overall, I would not recommend this place. There are plenty of local spots with better food and much smoother service where you can actually enjoy your night.

The deciding factor when booking the hotel was the Ahoi in Travemünde. We're big fans of Steffen Henssler and, of course, wanted to visit his restaurant. Booking through Open Table was easy. The staff were all super friendly, there were no long waits, and the food was absolutely amazing—sorry, but it's true 😁 Seasoned to the finest, it was a real treat. Thanks to the entire team 💪 Since we're only here on the weekend, we immediately reserved a table for the next evening 😋 We're delighted and will of course recommend you to others. The waitress was very friendly and obliging, and the order was taken quickly. Drinks and food arrived promptly. The food was very well presented and delicious. A delight in the perfect weather. The prices were reasonable.

We were at Ahoy on Wednesday evening with 8 people (4 adults, 4 children). We ordered around 7:00 p.m. – half knew immediately what they wanted, the other half thought about it for a moment. When the waiter took the rest of the order after about 15 minutes, we were excited for our meal. 5 minutes later, the first half's food arrived. We thought, "This is going fast today." Unfortunately, not. Meanwhile, other guests came and went, received their food, and the second half of our group was still waiting. At 7:40 p.m., I asked if we had been forgotten. Instead of asking the kitchen, they simply said the restaurant was understaffed today and it might take longer. The next table, which arrived later, was immediately told it could take up to an hour – unfortunately, we weren't. In this price range, and if you don't just want to "serve" tourists, you should actually go to the table yourself and inform the guests if there are any delays. At 8:10 p.m., as the mood slowly changed (one half had already finished, the children were getting impatient), I asked another waiter. He checked the kitchen and said it would only take five minutes and everything was currently being redone. For me, as someone with restaurant experience, it was clear: I'd forgotten my order. There were only three dishes left: steak, fish & chips, and a kids' burger. These arrived as promised. Part 2 – The Steak I ordered the steak medium rare. However, the first steak was under the salamander for far too long – unacceptable for €30. So I continued nibbling on fries, just like I had been for the previous 1.5 hours. The second steak was indeed medium rare – but the pepperoni cream I'd ordered was missing. When I asked for a new one, I received a previously used cream, presumably my old one. Absolutely incomprehensible, questionable from a hygiene perspective, and unacceptable for a restaurant in this price range. Conclusion A very disappointing evening. If you're understaffed, you shouldn't open all areas during peak season, but only as many as the staff can manage. When we left the restaurant after paying, the counter between the kitchen and the service area was still full of finished plates – a sign of clear organizational problems.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a good experience. Long wait (ignored/disregarded by staff) at the entrance. The service outside was very nice. The food was good, but nothing special, which was a shame! About the ambiance: The terrace. Tables without decoration, without any flair. Overall, a shame. Not recommended.

Two of us went out to dinner last night. We had reserved a table for 6:30 p.m. and were seated quickly. But then it didn't work. The service was friendly, but overwhelmed. Drinks took over half an hour to arrive, and we waited an hour and a half for the food. We had two bowls, which are usually served cold. We had been there three years ago, but it wasn't the same and the food was too limited.

Today, the wait was unbearable – we weren't able to order for about 40 minutes, and the food didn't arrive for another 75 minutes. We were completely ignored during that time. The restaurant wasn't full, though. It was delicious, but these wait times are unbearable given the prices.

Hello Well, I just wanted to say that we were soooo looking forward to Steffen Henssler, and we visited him three times, and only once was everything okay. We waited two hours for our food. That can't be right.

I'd love to say something about the food at this restaurant. But unfortunately, it never happened. I thought to myself, oh, I'm on vacation in Travemünde with my wife. It's her birthday today, so let's go to a special restaurant for dinner, but the only thing special about this restaurant is the name. We had a reservation for 6:30 p.m. and arrived right on time. It took almost 20 minutes just to get to our table, and then another 20 minutes until we got a menu and could choose our drinks and food. We opted for the Chicken Teriyaki Salad and the Shrimp and Chips Deluxe. We were really looking forward to the food, but unfortunately, it never happened. After an hour and a half of still not having any food at our table, we decided to pay for our drinks and simply went to Edeka and bought a 5-minute terrine. At least it was delicious. I don't know what happened that evening, but half the terrace had to wait at least as long—I even waited longer—for their food as we have before. As we learned from the guests at another table, this had apparently happened a few days before. The service was completely overwhelmed. Friendly is a different story.

We'd love to come back; the bowls (chicken/vegetarian; both with fabulous truffle butter, as recommended by the waitress) were truly fantastic! The warm chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert is also highly recommended; the service was very friendly.

The start was disappointing: We had to wait 20 minutes before we could even order. The service was unfriendly, disinterested, and tended to simply ignore guests after they'd placed their orders. Our food took a full hour to arrive. After 40 minutes, we asked a waitress to check with the kitchen – she never came back. Only after another 20 minutes, when we approached another waitress, was our food brought to us. By this time, it was only lukewarm. The restaurant was also extremely noisy, and the tables were sticky. For us, the visit was a clear disappointment – neither the service nor the quality warranted a return visit.

Of course, there's nothing to complain about the food; we've been there many times and have always been satisfied. Unfortunately, the portions have gotten smaller, which you notice immediately as a regular customer. We also deduct points for the following: There's no salted popcorn on the terrace as a "greeting from the kitchen" – because of the seagulls. Understandable, but especially if you're there with children, it's worth pointing out. My child was, of course, very disappointed. And speaking of children: The toilet doors are far too stiff for children to open, and the soap in the toilets is at a height that children can't reach. Best wishes to Steffen Henssler and the designers of the venue. They don't seem to have a great time with children. But we'll be back anyway! We'll definitely be sitting inside again.

A very nice view, but really nothing else. Deep-fried frozen schnitzel and deep-fried Metrofisch. If that's Steffen Hensler, then cheers! The name probably says it all, because it can't be the greasy, bad food.

Unfortunately, our expectations weren't met. We had to wait over an hour for our food. The food was okay—but nothing more. We'd already been to Ahoi in Scharbeutz a few years ago and wanted to give the chain another chance. Unfortunately, we were disappointed again. Nevertheless, I commend the service staff. They were very friendly despite the stress.

We ate at Ahoi Travemünde for the second time today and can highly recommend it. Great atmosphere, delicious drinks, and the food was once again excellent.

We were there with children and had a variety of dishes; everything was delicious. The staff was very friendly and up for a chat. The homemade lemonade and iced tea were also very good. The ambiance was nice, but I found some of the chairs very uncomfortable. The noise level was perfectly fine even though it was full; you could still have a normal conversation.

Our waitress, Janet, was amazing! Super friendly and accommodating. We were there with three kids. Highly recommended. The bowls are incredibly delicious, as are the fries! Thank you. We'll be back.

Hello. This was our second time there in two weeks. Despite pre-ordering, we stood in the door for about 18 minutes. Unfortunately, the announcement of a menu change didn't materialize. So, everything was as usual on the menu. What a shame. We came back especially. We waited 1 hour and 28 minutes for the food. The food was good. The women's restroom had no toilet paper and no tea towels. The cleanliness was a disaster. When we informed the staff, they reacted annoyed: "WE ALREADY KNOW THAT." The Henssler brothers sold their business to a franchise company in January 2025. I simply expect it to no longer be called Ahoi Steffen Henssler. For me, it's a kind of misleading guide for guests. Just a franchise restaurant like any other. It's a shame.

The food is okay. Even though the place was only half full, the service seemed overwhelmed. We were there with our grandchildren and ordered the house lemonade for them. The ginger was so strong that it was undrinkable for them. We should have expected a warning. The prices are not appropriate for the quality offered. Last but not least, the espresso was only lukewarm, which rounded off the impression of the service. You have to get used to the noise. But we were there with children and contributed our share. Overall, the place is overrated, and we won't be coming back.

We were looking forward to a lovely evening at Henslers Ahoi in Travemünde, as my girlfriend had already been there. We received a very friendly welcome and waited about 15 minutes to order. The restaurant was busy but not packed. I had tomato soup as a starter, which arrived in about 20 minutes and was really delicious. However, we waited a very long time for my girlfriend's bowl and salad. After an hour, we asked the server whether the rest of our order had perhaps gone missing, but she said no, she had just spoken to the kitchen again. When no food had arrived after another 20 minutes, I went back into the restaurant to ask. It should be mentioned that several guests who arrived after us had already paid and left. The waitress said it wouldn't be long. Another 15 minutes later our food arrived and was really delicious. But she said that was because I had a starter and that's why main courses always take longer. Well... I find this statement a bit weak and it definitely puts a damper on our restaurant experience. We honestly don't know if we'll come back.

Unfortunately, a very disappointing visit. No cranberries left with the schnitzel, without warning. Some tables were broken and dirty, and at the neighboring table, a high chair with a baby in it collapsed – luckily, no injuries. No cutlery was given until after asking. The terrace is unkempt, grass is growing out of the tiles, the windbreak is dirty – an overall dingy impression. The servers are overwhelmed and take a long time, even though the restaurant is moderately busy. The food sometimes sits for several minutes before being cleared away, even though the guests have long since left. Some dishes were cold and seemed pre-made. Bottom line: There are definitely better options nearby.

First time there today. Everything was GREAT!!

We ate there twice this week while on vacation. The waitress was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the food was incredibly delicious. On our first visit, we immediately said we'd be back later that week, and on our second visit, we were even recognized and greeted very warmly. If we didn't live so far away, we would be regulars. There's not much to say: Delicious! 🍟Crispy fries - I've never had them like this anywhere else. No-nonsense hamburgers for the kids! The adult dishes were also very tasty and attractively presented. Service was very friendly and quick.

Unfortunately, we had to wait almost an hour for our food. Other tables were already seated when we arrived, waiting for their food, and hadn't even received it when we left. A moderately polite waiter took our menu away from us, and when we asked, he said we'd get it back soon. We didn't see the menu again, which is a shame, since you really want the customer to buy. It was also quite noisy, but we found that okay, since it's a family restaurant. The food was delicious, but the portions were rather small.

I had to wait a very long time on both visits before being served and later paying. I actually wanted another drink both times, but the long wait made me abandon that idea. On the second visit, I even went to the checkout alone because I waited 30 minutes and no one came. It's a shame, there's a lot of potential for improvement.

This was our second time there after 2022. It was pretty empty, and we had our pick of seats. The view is, of course, unique. The service was very friendly! Regarding the burgers, we noticed that the patties were significantly smaller than the buns. However, they were thicker and a bit dry. The fries were very good. The price for four drinks, three burgers, and one kids' meal was a decent €100.

Waiting time best describes the experience. I left after 30 minutes, even though there was only one other table occupied outside and the waitress didn't show up again.

In my opinion, the price-performance ratio here is not right. It was quite tasty, no question, but I thought €40 per person for a drink, a main meal and dessert was a bit steep, especially since I've eaten better.

Very tasty, especially the bowl, and the kids' every wish was fulfilled! The three girls who were there today (July 24, 2025) did a fantastic job, as it was really busy, as did the kitchen staff, of course. I found the soap for washing hands particularly pleasant; it smelled incredibly good.

Very disappointing experience – unfortunately, not recommended We came for lunch – two adults and one child. We ordered two bowls and, when ordering, specifically asked the waiter if it was possible to serve the chili cream and spicy sesame topping separately, as we wanted to share the dish with our child. The waiter confirmed this without any problems. When the food was brought – by a waitress who spoke little German – our request was only accommodated for one of the two bowls. We immediately pointed this out to her, but she just shrugged her shoulders and clearly had no intention of changing anything until we specifically asked. Annoyed, she finally took the bowl back and brought a new one – but it obviously included the chicken portion from the first bowl, as the breading had been scraped off very messily. She loudly placed the plate in front of us without a word, explanation, or apology and immediately left. Mistakes can happen – it's human nature. But this kind of behavior and treatment of guests is absolutely unacceptable. This ruined the entire dining experience. We paid the waiter who had taken our order. When he noticed we hadn't left a tip, he simply turned around without saying a word and didn't even respond to our "Thank you, have a nice day." Bottom line: If you don't want to ruin your day, find another restaurant.

Very friendly, approachable staff, the food is rather mediocre and relatively fatty. The location on the Trave River is, of course, beautiful. A small non-alcoholic cocktail at almost €10.00 is overpriced.

Visiting you was an experience. We invited my husband to dinner there for his 60th birthday. We all enjoyed the food. The service was excellent. At the end, there was a surprise dessert for the birthday boy, served with the song "Happy Birthday." You were simply fantastic.
