Unfortunately, the fish at Fish & Chips was frozen. I expect fresh fish from a restaurant like that. What a shame.

The burger was something different, but I found it very tasty. The ingredients, like the tomatoes on the burger, were very fresh and fruity. I also found the Hennsler-style fries to be different from regular loaded fries and they were also impressive. The cod was also excellent. You have to be lucky with the churros; sometimes they taste very greasy/oily, sometimes they're the best I've had. The food and drinks came quickly, and the service was friendly. Dogs are very welcome here and are the first to get a drink; they're very attentive. I'm not a Hennsler fanboy, but I can say: I recommend them; they put a lot of effort into it.

I ate here with my family last Friday, and it was fantastic. The food was delicious, and the service was very good, friendly, and fun. Thanks again to Sabrina for my birthday cheesecake :) I highly recommend it!

Too bad 😪... I've been here several times and have always been served nicely and quickly, but what happened today is unbelievable. The appetizer came quickly, and the drinks still hadn't arrived after 30 minutes. When asked, they said, "Oh, I forgot, sorry." We waited again... then we were told that the drinks machine was broken, but we could order a juice on the house. The food finally arrived. Almost everything was cold. (Burger, steak, bowl). At some point, a non-carbonated Spezi also arrived. Hmmm 🤔 Okay, we got dessert on the house and repeated "sorry," but unfortunately, three guests left very, very dissatisfied and certainly won't be coming back. One waiter is simply not enough!!! 2 stars for the cleanliness of the restrooms and the view.

On August 18, 2025, we enjoyed cocktails and a bottle of Crémant in the evening, along with a light bite to eat. The place boasts a very pleasant ambiance and good food. But that was about all the positives. The service was disinterested and inattentive. It was visibly difficult for everyone to distinguish whether it was the waiter or a sloppily dressed guest. The biggest faux pas, in my opinion, was that the €35 bottle of Crémant was served in a champagne cooler and not opened. The worst of it was that the bottle was unchilled and warm. Here, you can sit comfortably both inside and outside and enjoy the view over the Kiel Fjord. The menu is more geared toward a quick meal while consuming the promenade, but everything is still delicious. My tip: Tuna Bowl

Friday evening, 8 p.m., on the weekend of the Ocean Race. A total of two (!) people were serving inside and outside. We waited about 20 minutes to even get the menu. We ordered two drinks, an appetizer, and two main courses. We were told it might take a little longer today, but that didn't bother us. And yes, it did take a little longer for our appetizer to arrive—unfortunately, we hadn't received our drinks yet. The tables around us paid, but no one was cleared the entire time, and we were surrounded by dirty dishes. After waiting 1.5 hours, we finally got hungry, but instead of our main courses, the waiter just brought us the message that something had gone wrong and we could now order something to eat. We then took the bill and left hungry. It's important to note, however, that the service staff that evening were truly betrayed and sold out, still trying to make the best of the situation. Our waiter apologized a million times and was incredibly sorry that the evening had turned out this way, especially since we weren't the only table that had to wait so long, and several other guests also left while waiting. I find it incomprehensible how such colossal planning errors could occur from supposedly experienced restaurateurs.

Disappointing Evening Despite Delicious Food The two of us went to ahoi by Steffen Henssler in Kiel on a Friday evening and were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a very somber evening. The restaurant was packed, but there were only two waiters to serve all the guests – plus one at the bar. This meant we had to wait over an hour and a half before the food finally arrived. It was clear that the kitchen and service staff were completely overwhelmed. The two waiters really gave it their all, were friendly, and tried to save the evening, but they simply couldn't keep up. When the food finally arrived, it tasted fantastic – fresh, beautifully presented, and very tasty. It's just a shame that the long, chaotic process had already dampened the mood. Conclusion: Great food, but organization and staffing urgently need to be improved to ensure the enjoyment isn't lost.

A restaurant belonging to the Henssler chain, right on the Kiellinie, where you can watch the large ships coming and going from the terrace with comfortable chairs. The food was good and the lemonades delicious.

It was once again incredibly delicious. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back. :-)

We had two different burgers with fries. Unfortunately, the taste was very bland. It didn't justify the price, even with the special sauce. But the ingredients looked very fresh. The churros were unfortunately fried for too long. It's a matter of taste, but just cinnamon and sugar with a delicious chocolate dip would be 1000x better than the caramel sauce with the strange spice. The floor was very sticky. The staff was very nice 👍🏻

The quality of the food (fish and chips) has been better. The fish was neither crispy nor cooked through, nor did it feel fresh. The dip tasted of nothing and had a watery consistency. It's better to keep a close eye on things and consistently monitor the quality. Otherwise, at some point, the good situation won't even make up for it.

The salad had obviously been sitting there for a while, the veggie burger was totally bland, the fries were too salty and if you say so, it would come from the waiter - that would just be the Henseler style... and far too expensive!

If I specifically order a salad WITHOUT onions, but still get served incorrectly twice, and then the wrong drink comes first, then I wonder whether I'm in an upscale establishment or a chip shop! 3 stars only because they apologized several times and at least gave us a drink refill, but still charged us for the food! Sad for this category of restaurant! Would we have been served and charged the same way if we'd been famous?

Unfortunately, I waited a long time for my order, but it didn't arrive without mustard as ordered. I complained, but they tried to accommodate me. I wonder how, I don't like mustard. I was supposed to get a new burger. My husband had already started on his. My husband was finished, and my new burger was still nowhere in sight. After another 15 minutes, I canceled it. We were there to eat together, not one after the other. The waitress just didn't have it. I kept asking the waitress: "You had..., didn't you?" Never again Ahoy!

We had something to do in Kiel again and decided to go to Ahoi again. We've been there before and it was great. You are always greeted very friendly here. This time we wanted rump steak and the veggie burger. The burger doesn't have such a terrible plant patty, but rather great cucumbers with a delicious crunch and other great vegetables on top. The fries are delicious and fried to perfection. I wanted the steak rare. Unfortunately that didn't work. But our waiter Gölkay was very friendly and accommodating and we got a new Staek. That was perfect for me. It really tasted very good and the salad and small potatoes were also very good. Henssler's sauces are absolutely great and a real treat. What I particularly like is that the food comes to the table hot. If you would like to enjoy very good food, Steffen Henssler's "Ahoi" is in good hands. P.S. There is always a great smell in the toilets, very clean and we bought the soap there ourselves. ☺️ Conclusion: Very satisfied, perfect landing.

We ordered three cocktails and a water after waiting half an hour, and the drinks arrived 20 minutes later. The cocktails weren't particularly good, and they didn't come with any ice. Even one star is too many. If they want to convince us otherwise, we'd be happy to come back for another chance.

Online table reservation, friendly service, but it's noticeable that the waiters in this rather chicken-like restaurant were wearing worn sneakers. That was adequate, and the selection was varied despite the small menu. It was annoying that the fish and chips were served on a paper tray. It reminded me of a fast-food chain. The prices are a bit higher, but the quality is also high.

I'd love to give it 4.5 stars, but unfortunately that's not possible. I'm deducting a star in this case because it took a really long time at times, considering it wasn't really busy. I'd give it half a star for the fact that we received a free hot drink despite the wait. The food was very delicious, both the main course and the dessert. It was my first time there and I really can't complain. For whatever reason, there are sometimes longer waits. It's not meant to be, but it happens – how they're handled is the deciding factor. And in our opinion, the staff handled this in an excellent and friendly manner. I would and will definitely come back.

System gastromy!!! The association regarding the name 'Steffen Henssler' was not fulfilled. Food not bad, but nothing great. Therefore the pricing is not really justified. Longer waiting time for the order to be placed. And something I've never experienced before, there was no pilsner available. Unbelievable, supposedly due to delivery problems from the supplier. Never ever again. The only positive thing to mention is the friendliness of the staff

Unfortunately we didn't have good experiences. Had burgers. Unfortunately they came with pre-pressed patties which were also fried to death. And the whole thing is no bigger than the palm of your hand. And without side dishes for €19.90. Fries came extra and mayo and ketchup had to be paid for an extra €1 each. And that's where Mr. Hensler always talks so much about making something fresh himself. A joke. The buns were also out of the bag. Drinks... Warm, stale beer… bad luck, the tap system was broken. But then I won't bring it to the guest. Consistently a more than negative experience given the name and the prices. We're definitely not coming back.

Unfortunately the cod on potato pancakes was still cold/frosty inside. After complaining and returning it, no replacement food came after 25 minutes of waiting. But then we lost our appetite. To compensate, we had a round of drinks... so we left Hensslers not thirsty, but hungry. Too bad! The tuna steak dish was delicious.

Unfortunately, the staff seems very listless. The waitress who served us didn't know the menu. She apparently didn't know how to use the device when she was typing in the order. We once ordered Schnitzel Ahoi Style and Currywurst Ahoi Style. We received our food without the side dishes that normally come with Ahoi style. When asked, the good one just stuttered and said oh, then she must have forgotten to enter that when ordering the Ahoi style. However, asked/said Ahoy Style the entire time when ordering. We also always confirm. Well then we were given a few things to put on it that would have been included in the Ahoi style. We also forgot about food. The schnitzel we had was also half smaller than usual at Ahli Style.

Unfortunately, our visit to Ahoi in Kiel was rather disappointing. Even the start was bumpy: We had to wait almost 25 minutes before we could even place our order even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. Normally there is some popcorn with the drinks as a small greeting, but this time there was no such thing. Too bad! One of our dishes was missing a side salad, which was only brought later when we asked. Overall, the service seemed rather disinterested and not very attentive, which further spoiled the overall impression. When we wanted to pay, the card payment system wasn't working - that can of course happen, but unfortunately this is even more significant in combination with the overall poor service. We know other Ahoi locations in Schleswig-Holstein that are much better organized and more hospitable. There is still room for improvement in Kiel. Conclusion: Unfortunately not the best Ahoy visit

Very long waiting times, the service can be improved. The view and the ambience are very nice. A visit to Ahoi Kiel again is no longer an option.

We were at Ahoi last Saturday after a concert and wanted to end the evening with a nice meal. The waiter was initially very nice and friendly and took our order promptly. After the main course, we wanted to order dessert, but this turned out to be a bit tricky. After about 15 minutes and several attempts to wave, the waiter finally came and took our order. We waited another 30 minutes for our dessert, which wasn't worth it. While we were waiting for our food, the table next to us waited the same amount of time to pay. "Our" waiter sat down with a "guest" and had his colleague bring him his food. He was the only one allowed to cash out or take orders, as his colleagues always referred people to him. The whole thing made a very bad impression, and not just on us. For me, it was my last time at the restaurant for a while, although the food was generally delicious.

We had a reservation for 6:00 PM today and were brought straight to our table. After a short wait, our order was taken, and it arrived quite promptly. What was a bit unfortunate, however, was that after our plates were cleared, we had to wait over an hour for a server to come to our table. During the meal, no one even asked if everything was okay or if anyone wanted something to drink. During the hour-long wait, we took a menu from the stack ourselves, as no one came to us even after waving several times. The neighboring tables had a similar experience. Otherwise, the food was great, but the service was so-so. We understand from our own experience (two servers ourselves :)) that when it's busy, service sometimes suffers, but ignoring a table for an entire hour, or even not even approaching to ask if someone wanted to order something, was a bit harsh to us, given that so many employees were on duty.

First of all, it has to be said that Ahoi is an upscale snack bar with a modern and clean atmosphere. The Henssler style fries were really good, but my schnitzel came out of the deep fryer and was completely dry and no longer juicy.

The restaurant is in a prime location right on the water! There you can also see the big ships that call at Kiel! Beautifully and tastefully decorated! Super nice staff! Keep it up!

Unfortunately, the ahoy in the Kiel Yacht Club has worn off. The prices have risen sharply, but the quality of the food has unfortunately fallen somewhat by the wayside. Unfortunately, the burger patty in the Terriyaki Burger was not cooked properly. In the salmon bowl, the red cabbage salad and the mango were not convincing in terms of taste. The location is a bank, but the food has to taste good too

Very nice view of the fjord, very friendly service! But I was more than disappointed with the food! I ordered a rump steak for 29 euros. I ordered the steak medium, but it arrived well-done and hard. I then complained about it. Then another piece of meat was served more or less medium rare. Unfortunately it's still tough and dry. The size of the steak was quite small in both cases. The butter didn't seem fresh, but tasted like it had been stored for a long time. Unfortunately it wasn't a rump steak, but a simple rump steak of poor quality that can quickly become dry. The thin potato pancakes from the deep fryer are also dry and hard, the kind you can buy at a discount store for little money and then get annoyed about the purchase. They didn't taste like anything. The salad was OK. A huge disappointment for the still high price of 29 euros! The chef still needs to practice or the quality of the goods must clearly be better. The only good thing about the visit was the beautiful view of the fjord. I will not visit this restaurant again. It's actually absurd that the celebrity chef is advertised and such a disappointing meal is served.

Been there once and it was good, long wait until the food came then unfortunately it was cold (burger and fries) the taste was okay, we also had a steak that was supposed to be medium but was completely burnt, the salad only tasted like dressing, which was with it soaked. We left 110 euros with 2 people but unfortunately I have to say it is not our first place to go out for a nice meal. Furthermore, the tables have seen better days. The service was always friendly and helpful.

Staff and food are excellent. It's a shame that the person who gave it its name has never set foot in this restaurant and is therefore adorning himself with someone else's feathers. Many guests expect to see him there. Too bad!

A very nice restaurant. The food was quite tasty, very solid and well made. But the service far exceeded this. I was served by a very friendly waiter who always had a perfect view of me and other tables. I had the feeling that he simply looked at some of my wishes. Really great.

Ich hatte eine Kerze gewünscht und Geburtstag angegeben, der Tisch war an der durchgangstreppe und wäre auch so den ganzen Abend geblieben, alle Fensterplätze leer und es kam in 1 Stunde und 30 Minuten auch kaum eine andere gästeschar auf die schönen Plätze , ich hatte sozusagen von Anfang an im Lokal den schlechtesten Platz , gehabt wenn ich nicht umgezogen wäre. Dann sagte man mir vor Umzug auf Fensterplatz dass selbe wie schon in dieser reservierungsapp…dass eh nur 1 Stunde und 30 Minuten erlaubt sind…das wussten wir bereits aus der gestrengen reservierungs App…nicht neu…es folgte danach keine weitere Erwähnung meines Geburtstages oder Kerze, dass ich mich umgesetzt hatte war dann. Wohl das Geschenk und extra , na toll, der Lachs sah aus weiß wie eine Leiche und gedünstet nicht gegrillt oder kaltes Hähnchen. Er musste die Soße haben um Geschmack zu entwickeln, der Rest Kartoffeln , hatte etwas zu wenig Creme , sourcreme geizig, der Kellner dachte jeder schrimp extra kostet 2,50….stimmte nicht, kleines dingelchen für 3 Euro pro Stück mehr…das Ambiente war bitterkalt ich as mein Essen im Mantel. Es war ein daunenmantel…keine Heizung an neben mir. Die App hatte so getan als wäre der Laden rappelvoll und alle Plätze fast frei, aber ich als Geburtstagskind ohne Kerze und ohne Gratulation erst noch auf dem übelsten Durchgang den alle Kellner immer rauf und runter müssen und dienächszen zum Klo und hin…ich bin total enttäuscht, ichwar hinterher froh im Auto zu sein da war es sogar wärmer. Die dort saßen hatten alle hoodies an und wollpullover, Strickjacken, wussten wohl Bescheid. Nichts zum Geburtstag trotz Vermerk in App…wozu hat man dann die App frage ich mich, wenn sich eh keiner drum kümmert was drinsteht. Personal wirkte desinteressiert. Früher Kieler Yachtclub war schöner im Ambiente. Nur etwas to Go und Sommer, schnelle Nummer schnelles Geld, brauchbare Qualität aber ohne Seele.nicht mal sauberer Tisch, keiner zuständig…war wohl unter Niveau des Personals….

Beim Service ist noch Luft nach oben. Dessert und Kaffee hätte ich gerne zusammen genossen.

The tuna got cold quickly because the plate was ice cold and the sauce with the potatoes had a strange taste. The service was a bit shy.

The food came very quickly. It wasn't quite warm and the taste was better in Otterndorf.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und angenehm- aber das Essen war nur mittelmäßig- ich koche leckerer und ausgefallener und ich bin nicht berühmt für meine Kochkünste. Zum Sitzen war es sehr ungemütlich weil es so kalt war. Wir haben gefroren und sind deshalb recht früh gegangen und haben den Kaffee lieber zu Hause im Warmen getrunken.

Das Essen war sehr lecker, wir hatten Lachs und Ente. Etwas mehr Soße für die Ente wäre perfekt gewesen, geschmacklich alles sehr gut! Der Service war klasse, sehr freundlich und aufmerksam!

Wir hatten heute sehr gutes Essen. Es gab absolut nichts zu meckern, ich hatte knusprige Ente mit Rotkohl und mein Mann ein Rumpsteak mit Pommes und einem super frischen knackigen Salat. Sehr zu empfehlen 👍

Were there for a birthday dinner with 6 people. All guests who came to the restaurant after us received their food before us. We were only served our food when we asked. The rump steak was prepared incorrectly twice and was ordered medium rare. 1x too well done, 1x slightly burnt on the outside, partly medium rare to rare on the inside. It's a shame about the meat, although in my opinion the stated weight of 200g was not reached. Also looked a little lost on the large plate, which added to the impression. The side dish remained at the table until the second delivery, meaning: either eat food combining or wait and then enjoy the side dish lukewarm. Two burgers were only half warm. The Henssler dressing for the salad was not very tasty or could hardly be tasted. The Henssler style fries shared the same fate. The bowl was rated as good in terms of taste. I found the tuna starter to be very tasty and recommended. Service: well, the child had probably already gotten into the hole by being brought in late. It's also strange when the customer has to ask the waiter about his food. Unfortunately, this continued, with little attention due to the complaint. The fried piece of meat remained right in front of me instead of being cleared away. It wasn't nice to look at. Empty tables next to us were cleared away. Not exactly a sign of attention either. The reservation was made by a child of ours who eats out very regularly and suggested this restaurant. So we were looking forward to a nice dinner as a family. But there was no joy because the problems simply overshadowed it too much, it was a shame for the precious evening. I had to speak to the waitress twice about the bill. First of all, to make it clear from the start that invoicing is not acceptable to me. This was also complied with. The second time I had to ask for the bill itself without being asked again if we would like anything else. In terms of service, it's really at the bottom of the range. Afterwards I read that the concept is called casual dining. I find serving to be too casual; serving could be a bit more enjoyable than serving. We liked that even though it was very crowded, the volume was comparatively low. All in all it was a very disappointing visit. I hope everyone has better luck and a better day.

We ate at Ahoi for two shortly before Christmas. Reserved online at short notice - everything worked out great. Service was very frequent. We had a vegetarian Christmas 3 course menu and were happy with it.

Very nice service! At ahoi you know what you are getting, so the service and the ambience are important. The location on the fjord is of course great, and we were warmly welcomed (even with a dog) and served.

Ich war nun das 2. Mal dort. Alles in allem wieder mal sehr schön. Kritik habe ich nur leicht. Die Tische hätten sauberer sein dürfen und die Toiletten auch. Essen und Service jedoch waren super

Wir hatten reserviert und einen super Platz am Fenster. Auch wenn man im Januar bei Dunkelheit nicht vuel von draußen sieht. Sehr leckere Speisen zu einem guten Preis. Der Service ist nett und freundlich, könnte aber manchmal etwas schneller und aufmerksamer sein.

Das Ahoi Steffen Hennsler in Kiel hat ein sehr schönes Ambiente und liegt direkt am Hafen. Sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Reservierung mit Hund war gar kein Problem. Das Personal hat sich sehr um ältere, eingeschränkte Gäste gekümmert. Wir kommen beim nächsten Besuch in Kiel gerne wieder.

Wir waren am 31.12.24 im Lokal, könnten uns einen Tisch aussuchen, wurden sehr nett empfangen und auch die Bestellung und das Essen waren schnell erledigt. Leider mussten wir das Lachsgericht zurück geben, da dieser innen komplett roh war. Wir wählten auf Anraten vom Personal ein anderes Gericht. Bei der Abrechnung wurde uns ein Gericht nicht berechnet was wir mehr als fair fanden. Alles in allem fanden wir es sehr angenehm vor Ort, wobei bei den Getränken mehr Aufmerksamkeit sein sollte, da wir erst mit der Rechnungsbitte nach einem zweiten Getränk gefragt worden. Essen (Bowls) war sehr gut. Leider kamen die Cocktails, der Wein und das Essen fast gleichzeitig. Hier muss mehr Abstimmung erfolgen. Der Service war sehr freundlich, aber personell unterbesetzt.

Netter Aufenthalt, sehr freundliche Bedienung und das Essen war sehr lecker. Wir waren zu sechst und alle waren sehr zufrieden! Wir kommen gerne wieder.

It was our first time eating at Ahoi. The service was friendly and very quick. The restaurant is comfortably furnished. The food was really very good. The burgers were delicious and juicy, and the schnitzel was one of the best pork schnitzels I have eaten. The Henssler style fries are highly recommended. For dessert, a scoop of ice cream on delicious sprinkles. It's worth it!

Das Essen war super, die Bedienung war freundlich, das Ambiente hat mir sehr gefallen, nur war mir sehr kalt. Also lieber etwas dickeres anziehen, dann ist es top.

Wir mögen das Essen, besonders die Teryaki -Bowl. Super lecker und gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Im Sommer ein wunderschöner Blick auf die Förde.

Es war sehr schön! Der Kieler laden von SH übertrifft die Hamburger Sushi Bude um Längen!

I wanted to eat cake there today and happened to notice that they only serve thawed cake as they don't bake it themselves. The employee there confirmed this to me after I asked. Even if they don't bake themselves, they could work with a pastry shop so that fresh cakes can be served. I expect it in general and especially if the location has a well-known name. I left without ordering anything.

Unacceptable. We were looking forward to a lovely Christmas dinner on Boxing Day. Unfortunately the side dish from the Christmas menu (dumplings) was missing. It can happen 🙄 ... At least there were two tablespoons of red cabbage with the duck. Unfortunately it was cold. The carbon dioxide in the Aperol was stale. After the wrong drink was brought, the wrong dessert was also brought. This can sometimes happen with 4-5 occupied tables and a full staff. Unfortunately you didn't see much of it at the table. Fortunately, when we said goodbye, we were able to say goodbye to all the staff again. At the counter. Because that's where the majority of the staff could be found. You have a lot to tell each other at Christmas... Something like that can happen... 🤷🏼‍♀️ I chose Ahoi because I didn't want to have to deal with bad staff or bad food at Christmas. I got both. I bet on the name for Christmas and was completely disappointed. There's only one thing left for me to say: AHOY!

Only the location of the restaurant (at the yacht club) and the name under the Ahoy are not enough to justify succinct fries and a burger with highly processed substitute meat (original meat was no longer available) and an untoasted bun from the supermarket for almost €20 and among the vain people (I eat at Henssler!). On top of that, tap water for €5 in a milk bottle covered in fingerprints... the chip shop around the corner can do that for less. A slap in the face for every chef who doesn't use convenience products...
