Ada's Buka in Lautertal (Odenwald)

We were satisfied. The food arrived in 20 minutes, was good, and we even had a German-speaking server. So, I can't understand some of the reviews. The only drawback was the unheated dining room (in the fall with an outside temperature of 10 degrees Celsius), and the outdoor plant in the women's restroom is already peeking in through the window. 🙈

Unfortunately, this has nothing to do with African cuisine. A complete disappointment. Snack bar would be more accurate here. The service was an absolute disaster...no division of responsibilities. Everyone was doing something, but unfortunately, it had little to do with proper service. Then there was the language barrier, too. They weren't quite fluent in German or English. Then the finished dishes stood untouched and cold at the counter for several minutes, waiting to be picked up. And the communication was also wrong...because a bratwurst (there's also a regular bratwurst on the daily menu, but we didn't order it) is not the same as an antelope bratwurst with sweet potato fries and a spicy tomato ragout. What I also didn't quite understand was the menu. The website has a very extensive menu, albeit without prices, for whatever reason...and then there's only a daily special, which is more like a snack menu, except for the €26.90 burger...at least in terms of the price, which, unfortunately, was also an absolute disaster. Sorry, I can't understand all of this!!!!!

Unfortunately, the service is abysmal: several times, orders were taken from guests who arrived after us, and even after contacting the waiter, nothing happened. We finally got up and left, but even that wasn't noticed. This is a waste of easily earned money.

We went to Ada's Buka Restaurant with a larger group after a hike in the Felsenmeer (Sea of Rocks). Since it was a weekday, we had exclusive use of the restaurant (by prior arrangement). The three-course menu was delicious, with something for everyone. The location is top-notch, and the ambiance in the beer garden is wonderful. It's easy to imagine that it would be very busy during regular opening hours.

Great location to stop after a hike

Last night, the two of us went to Ada's Buka for the first time in a while and thoroughly enjoyed the Afrika Soul Lounge. The evening started with a €15 per person fee for the band. The three-course meal consisted of a sweet potato and ginger cream soup for starters. It was good, but pleasantly spicy and appropriately seasoned. The main course was buttery-tender roasted chicken breast with tomato and vegetable sauce and mambo rice (rice with black-eyed peas). For dessert, the last item on the menu was "Puff Puff," a ping-pong-like African doughnut with vanilla ice cream. During a short musical break, the hostess lovingly explained the background of the dishes and the progress of the property, including the possibility of hosting parties there soon, as well as the new overnight accommodations. The band conjured up a wonderful and authentic African feeling with various traditional songs, a great combination of music and the menu, as well as our red wine/beer. We'll definitely be back soon, whether on a regular day or for a festival.

You waited almost two hours for your food before you got anything, but other guests who ordered 20 minutes ago got their food before our table. Otherwise, the food was okay, but the service was terrible.

We stopped here for lunch and had a very good meal. The tabbouleh (couscous salad) and the beef samosas were very good and the perfect lunch choice for the hot hiking weather. Everything was fresh and well prepared. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the beer garden is very well located and offers plenty of shade thanks to the trees. Highly recommended if you want something different beyond the regional Odenwald cuisine—in this case, West African/Nigerian dishes.

Nice atmosphere, but unfortunately that was it. The service was disastrous, we were completely ignored. The dishes have nothing to do with African cuisine and unfortunately they didn't taste good at all. The vegetables were still hard, the meatballs weren't seasoned, and the salad dressing tasted like toothpaste. We went there in the first place because of the restaurant's statement that they would serve fufu. There is no fufu.

At the end of the season and for the first time in the new chalet, we are once again thrilled about the pleasant atmosphere of Adas Buka. AbbasKktar - a singer and composer from Senegal - and his band created the last musical contribution for 2024 until the series continues in May 2025, always on the first Friday of the month. The menu was very tasty and staying overnight in the brand new chalet was ideal given our long journey. Wonderful African art is spread throughout the restaurant and hotel, there was still enough left to look at for next time.

The cashier from the beginning sat smugly on his chair and said goodbye with a grin: "Oh, that was a short evening." I can't even write what I would have liked to say... Horrible guy. Never again. The waiters seemed nice. One star for that.

I can't recommend it! A complete rip-off! When I made my reservation, the website said there was a buffet for €18.50. When we arrived, we were immediately charged €15 per person for the musicians. Instead of a buffet for €18.50 per person, we were asked to pay €33 per person for a three-course meal. Of course, the website had already been processed. Ada's Buka after hiking through the sea of ​​rocks to the summit. It's not just the rocks that are an experience and a little adventure. After you have overcome the “sea”, you can stop off at Ada’s Buka and enjoy African cuisine. The map is small. Some specials are advertised on large boards in the entrance area. In my opinion, the portions could be a little larger for the price-performance ratio. The taste, however, is excellent. Catering only on weekends and public holidays. We were probably lucky that we were traveling on a Saturday. We enjoyed it and will come back.

Nice restaurant with lots of outside seating. After a Felsenmeer climbing tour you can recharge your batteries here. Food very tasty. Service is sometimes slightly marginal. Approached someone 3 times about ordering dessert. It was said 3 times that he or she would come straight away. Then no one came anymore. So I gave up on dessert and tried to pay for it. Here it only worked in the 3rd attempt. Unfortunately a bit annoying.

Nach einer langen Wanderung freute ich mich über eine große und leckere Portion Hähnchencurry mit Gemüse und Reis. Was sonst so aus der Küche getragen wurde sah ebenfalls sehr gut aus. Da es im Umkreis auch einige sehr gute deutsche Gaststätten gibt, ist Ada's Buka eine nette Abwechslung. Es gibt aber auch traditionelle deutsche Gerichte. Das Ambiente ist sehr gemütlich, das Personal sehr freundlich. Ein schöner Besuch, komme gerne wieder!

If you are interested and open to new things, this restaurant is the right place for you. Visitors were mixed. From small children to seniors. Toilets were clean. A small stall with cultural objects can be discovered in the restaurant. Our waitress is young and spoke German. The antelope bratwurst (€15.90) ​​made from 30% beef and 70% antelope has a strong taste. Took some getting used to at first and became tastier with every bite. There were sweet potato fries and the tomato ragout was very tasty. The tomato ragout is recommended. The dessert with banana slices [ripe coat with banana filling] (€7.50) and rum was a new taste experience. The salad (10.90€) was good, but not special. I would go there after a Felsenmeer hike. Das Essen ist sehr gut und schmeckt im schönen Ambiente des (Bier-)Garten besonders gut. Innenraum testen wir beim nächsten mal. Vor zwei Wochen durften wir auch das Catering testen. Das war klasse, viel Auswahl und für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei.

Wir kommen wieder!! Pounded Yam und Egusi-Soup oder Jollof-Rice wären noch eine tolle Erweiterung für die Speisekarte.

Wir waren zum Freitag Abend Event dort. Die Atmosphäre, das Essen, die Getränke der Service - alles super! Die Musik spielt allerdings nicht während des Essen, sondern beginnt erst zum Nachtisch.

Tolles Restaurant mit tollem Hof zum sitzen. Ob das Essen authentisch ist kann ich nicht beurteilen sondern nur das es geschmeckt hat und das unerwartet mitten auf dem E1 auf einem Hügel.

Wir waren Heute anlässlich des 70ten Geburtstages meiner Schwiegermutter mit 20 Personen zu Gast. Es war ein rundum gelungener Tag, das Essen hat allen sehr gut geschmeckt, der service war klasse (trotz viel Betrieb) und wir haben uns alle sehr wohl in dem schönen, sowie liebevoll gestalteten Lokal gefühlt. Der Innenbereich ist mehr als gelungen, reichhaltig afrikanisch dekoriert, jedoch nicht überfrachtet und läd das Auge zum verweilen ein. Gerade bei warmer Witterung punktet der von Bäumen beschattete Außenbereich, wo wir einen schönen Tisch für uns alle reservieren konnten. Die Kinder konnten Nebenan im Wald toben und klettern. Es war ein Perfekter Tag für uns - Danke.

Nach vielen Jahren sind wir mal wieder bei "Ada's Buka" auf dem Felsberg eingekehrt. Das Restaurant liegt auf über 500 Metern über NHN wenige Meter vom Gipfel des Felsbergs entfernt, idyllisch in der Landschaft eingebettet. Vorsicht: Die Zufahrtsstraße ist sehr kurvig und etwas schmal, sodass man bei Gegenverkehr nach einer geeigneten Ausweichmöglichkeit suchen muss. Alternativ kann man auch bei der Kuralpe parken und verbindet es mit einem kleinen Spaziergang. Auf der Speisekarte stehen afrikanisch-deutsche Gerichte, die von der Chefin höchstpersönlich zubereitet werden. Wir bestellten Mafé (Hähnchenstreifen mit Erdnusssoße und Gemüse), afrikanische Rindfleischbällchen an Tomaten-Kokossoße und Gemüse sowie das nigerianische Hähnchen-Curry, jeweils mit Reis als Beilage. Die Portionen waren ausreichend groß (im Gegensatz zu früher) und haben allen sehr gut geschmeckt. Abschließend möchte ich mich noch einmal bei Frau Robinson-Kuba bedanken, die uns – nach einer Reklamation wegen einer falschen Info zu den Küchenzeiten – mit einem Gutschein entgegengekommen ist. Das ist nicht selbstverständlich und zeigt, dass ihr die Gäste wichtig sind.

Es war eine kulinarische Reise. Ob Samosa oder Thaicurry - einfach fantastisch. Zum Schluss noch einmal eine Portion Samosas bestellt. Danke Bridget

Am oberen Teil des Felsemeers gelegen. Der Service war freundlich und prompt. Super um nach der Kletterei im Felsenmeer was zu trinken und sich für den Rückweg zu stärken. Es gibt vor allem afrikanische Gerichte inklusive Antilopen-Bratwurst von einer lokalen Metzgerei.

Das Adas Buka ist an einer Stelle, wie es schöner kum geht. Ganz oben auf dem Berg über dem Felsenmeer liegt das tolle afrikanische Restaurant. Wir haben früher auch die Kletterei über das Felsenmeer auf uns genommen. Heute fahren wir wegen dem Ambiente und dem Essen dahin. Das besondere an diesem Restaurant sind die Evernt Freitage. Hier bekommt man dann afrikanisches Essen unhd afrikanische Musik aus einer Hand. Diese Kombination wird auch zu einem zivilen Preis angeboten.Die Bands waren immer super drauf und haben eine tolle Stimmiung dazu verbreitet. Das Büffet dazu war immer vom feinsten. Heute gibt es dazu ein 3-Gang Menü, leider nichts für uns. Wir haben am 3. Freitag ein veganes Menü, sehr zu empfehlen. Wenn es noch auf der normalen Karte etwas mehr veganes gäbe, wären es volle 5 Sterne.

Ausflug in den Odenwald - das lohnt sich eigentlich immer. Aber zu Ada‘s Buka, was essen gehen und dann noch zum Felsenmeer… Ein Träumchen! Allein die Zufahrt zum Restaurant versetzt einen schon in Urlaubsstimmung und dann vor Ort kommt das Afrika-Fernweh noch dazu. Das Essen ist eine Mischung aus afrikanisch und europäisch - könnte für meinen Geschmack sogar noch afrikanischer sein, aber auf jeden Fall lecker! Der Service ist freundlich und man fühlt sich gleich wohl. Hier passt alles: Lage, Atmosphäre, Essen und Odenwald! Immer wieder einen Besuch Wert!

Das Café ist ausgezeichnet, die Kellner sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, es war eine Freude, mit ihnen zu reden. perfekter Ort! Ich bin sehr froh, dass ich dort war!

Wenn man von seiner Felsenmeer Klettertour oder Wanderung oben angekommen ist. Kann man sich bei diesen Afrikanischen Restaurant eine etwas größere und leckere Pause gönnen.

Eine wunderschöne Lage am Ende des Felsenmeers. Das Personal war trotz geringer Auslastung ziemlich überfordert. Wer kein Englisch spricht, bekommt schon bei der Bestellung Probleme. Preislich total angemessen. Werde dem Ganzen aber eine zweite Chance geben.

Eines der besten Afrika Restaurants in der Region mit einem guten Preis- Leistungsverhältnis. Da gibt's nicht auszusetzen. Top , sehr zu empfehlen.

Das Essen war hier sehr lecker und gut. Auf meinem Teller (Dodo) hätte es etwas mehr sein können aber alles top. Der Service-Mitarbeiter war noch frisch aber hat das super gemacht. Preislich zahlt man hier 12 - 16 Euro ca. pro Gericht im Schnitt. Es ist schön eingerichtet und es gibt hier eine schöne, afrikanische Küche. Parkplätze sind vorhanden.

Nice people and forest ambiance but food is not authentic. I was really excited to eat Nigerian food in Germany but this isn’t the place. Perhaps this is what keeps the majority of the patrons happy. Food takes one hour to come out so do not come here in a rush.

Somehow I just never hit the times they're open between the winter break and summer break. Even when they got their outside hut open "with good weather" I always am either too late or see sunny weather not as sunny as others. One day we did however succeed and we could drink a nice cool bottle of Alkoholfreies Hefeweizen. Would love to try the African food though, it's lovely! Es gibt von mir nur einen Stern (null geht leider nicht) da ich extra angereist war um dort zu essen und dann 2h vor der eigentlichen Schließung der warmen Küche nichts mehr zu essen bestellen konnte, mit der Begründung dass die Küche schon geschlossen hat. Das wars, mehr kam da auch nicht. 3 Tische waren besetzt und alle haben gegessen! Danke für nichts! Dieses Restaurant werde ich definitiv NICHT weiter empfehlen und selbst nicht mehr dorthin fahren! Nachtrag: Die Antwort ist der Knaller! Unbedingt lesen! Hier wird die "Schuld" auf den Kunden geschoben! Waren gestern dort. Und waren ziemlich enttäuscht. Meine Frau hatte die Normalen Bratwürste mit Pommes und Beilagen Salat für 10.90€. Auf ihre Frage ob sie statt normaler Pommes Süßkartoffel Pommes haben könnte. Da diese bei einem anderen Gericht dabei sind. Meinte die junge Kellnerin ja würde aber extra kosten . Meine Frau fragte was es Extra kosten würde und da meinte die Kellnerin 9€ extra 😱 für die Portion Süßkartoffeln da sie ja sehr teuer währen. Somit hätte das paar Bratwürste mit Salat 19.90€ gekostet. Meinten nein danke dann nicht . Die Kellnerin meinte dann nehmen sie doch die Antilopen Bratwurst dort sind Süßkartoffel dabei das würde 15.50€ kosten . Sie beließ es bei den normal Pommes . Als ihr Essen kam war die Portion ok der Salat war nicht angemacht . Haben sie die Kellnerin angesprochen und sie meinte wenn sie. Kann ihr etwas Dressing drauf machen . Was sie dann gemacht hat . Ich habe mir das Hähnchen-Curry mit Beilagen Salat für 13.50€ bestellt . Es war vom Geschmack sehr gut. Die Portion Reis war auch auch ok aber die Portion Hähnchen-Curry bestand aus 3 Stückchen Brokkoli 10 Stückchen Karotte, 20 Stückchen Zucchini. Und sage und schreibe 5 Stückchen Hähnchen Fleisch. Sehr Groß zügig geschätzt zusammen ca ½ Hänschen Brust. Wenn überhaupt. Für diese Portion viel zu teuer .

Ein spezielles Restaurant an eine sehr besonderen Platz im Odenwald. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Gutes Essen und sehr schöne Atmosphäre.

Das Essen war gut, aber satt sind wir nicht geworden. Als Geheim Tipp der Hessenschau,hatten wir uns mehr erhofft.

Guter Kuchen und leckeres Essen, der Service sollte allerdings was Aufmerksamkeit betrifft verbessert werden.
