1987 Xigon in Berlin

This is our favorite dinner spot in Berlin. We come back every year and even visited twice during our most recent trip. The food is always delicious, and the staff is exceptionally kind. We have never once been disappointed with our meals here.

Tasty food, but my prawns meets scaloppe was too salty. Good margarita cocktail. kitchen seems well organized and clean. Nice atmosphere, but the tables close to the toilets are smelly. Nice table service

I've been a regular customer for years and have always been satisfied with the food and service, especially with the value for money. The latter now gives cause for criticism. Even if it tastes good, it's hard to explain why a pho soup should suddenly cost 18 euros instead of 12. Even an 8-piece inside-out roll, which, by the way, is sliced ​​very thinly and is more like a 6-piece roll in volume, is now priced between 12 and 18 euros. This means that 1987 is suddenly, unwittingly, competing with upscale Japanese restaurants like Ryotei or Zenkichi, and is losing not only the comparison but also its clientele, especially since you can usually sit on the toilet in more upscale restaurants. At 1987, the seats were broken and fixed with branded tape. Apparently not a temporary solution. Too bad.

I haven't even gotten to my main course yet, and I'm already loving this place!!! Great music, amazing food, uncomplicated and super friendly service. TOP TOP TOP! Not much blows me away, but this place... is a 10 out of 10 and I'd love to come back. The starter mix is ​​huge and really good! Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo; I've become a victim of its success.

Good restaurant, excellent sushi

I was there on a Monday evening with 2 friends, we made our reservation through TheFork app. We ordered Salmon loves Tuna sushi set, Pad Thai with crunchy duck and Flavours Duck. I must say that I adored the noodles in pad thai, they were incredibly juicy! Sushi was also good but nothing outstanding. Didnt check out the Flavours Duck since it was my friend's meal but it was looking good! While ordering keep in mind that the main dish portions were really large. All in all i recommend a visit!

Unfortunate that the service doesn't match the food, which was 10/10. I reserved over a month ago, and I put in the notes that it's my partners birthday. They didn't do any gesture, and they didn't even ask for the reservation name. They simply asked if we have a booking, and then said we can choose whichever table we want. Also the waiter (male) who was taking my order, was not writing down the items, and at one point started, one can only describe as daydreaming while I'm telling him my order. To no surprise, the starter was missing. Also the sushi was placed on the table with no wasabi or ginger, and no smaller plates for us. We consistently had to ask about everything mentioned. To top it off, no one came to ask if we ever needed anything, my drink was empty for more than 30 mins and I simply didn't order another one. All in all, the service is of a really low standard especially for the prices, and if the food was not good, then this rating would be 1 star. So my compliments to the chefs.

Went there yesterday to celebrate the anniversary. While it started off really well and we were super excited about the place, unfortunately we had to leave earlier as serving time was too long.. And even worse, on the way back my boyfriend got a severe food poisoning (either from oysters or one of the sauces), so the anniversary was pretty much ruined. For the price they're charging, the service should be better and quality control more rigid. UPD: We’ve ordered oysters and spinach salad for starters, and he had a Kiss of Smoke for the main dish.

We checked the website and booked based on that. In the restaurant, we were seated near the restrooms, which smelled of urine. We chose a different table and were given our menu. It turned out all the prices were at least 10% higher than what was listed on the website. This just didn't feel right. The host told us, "The chef told us to raise the prices." So, do the same on the website. Since we regularly spend €150+ on dinner with our children, we wouldn't have been happy to pay the menu prices, but this just didn't feel right. We left.

Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience. We've been waiting for our order for over two hours and have tried calling more than 30 times – no one answers. Such poor service is absolutely unacceptable. It's a shame, we were looking forward to the food.

Nice Asian restaurant with Asian food.

You need a lot of patience as the waiters are understaffed and can't keep up with the number of guests. A lot of noise unless you sit outside, but really good food!

The ambiance is nice, but very cramped and noisy. The food was good, but vastly overpriced by Berlin standards (€19 for a yellow curry, €12 for an Aperol Spritz). Due to the cramped conditions, the service was somewhat chaotic and inattentive. We weren't asked for drinks again, and we had to wait a very long time for the bill.

Great looking food, average tasting

We went there last November for my birthday, and the food was delicious, as always. To our shock, however, we found a piece of chewed gum in the rice, and after we raised the issue, we received no compensation. After my friend described this in a review, the restaurant appears to have taken legal action and had the review deleted. This behavior is unprofessional from start to finish, and I'm already counting the days until this review disappears, too. Very brave behavior for a restaurant that certainly has no desire to deal with the health department. With that in mind! :)

Most of the sushi we got was really good; spicy tuna tempura was amazing but the salmon skin roll was a bit hard to chew honestly. Panna cota was kind of bland, wouldn't really recommend it. Staff was very friendly and nice but the service was a bit slow. I really like the atmosphere here and even though i was not amazed by the food, would consider coming again.

My visit to 1987 Xigon was an absolute dream! The ambiance is modern, stylish, and very inviting – the open kitchen in particular creates a great atmosphere. The food was outstanding: fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared, and a real visual highlight. I had the duck and the summer rolls – both were delicious! The sushi on the menu also looks excellent and will definitely try it on my next visit. I would particularly like to highlight the service: the staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and made the evening a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I definitely recommend it!

The food was delicious, apart from the very tough meat. What bothered me, however, was the fact that I made a reservation for lunch. When I made the reservation, I booked a deal that offered me a 30% discount on all a la carte dishes if I arrived on time (which we were). Since I was still deep in conversation with my girlfriend while paying, I unfortunately didn't realize until I got home that we had to pay full price for both dishes. Furthermore, the prices on the website aren't the current ones; each dish is about €3-4 more expensive. And last but not least, we had to wait almost 20 minutes before we could order, even though there were maybe three other tables occupied at 3:30 p.m. All in all, I wouldn't come back. It's a shame I had high hopes for it.

Great place. Nigiri 5stars. Nice service. With such great food they need to up their drink game. Some nice wines and quality cocktails would make this absolute top spot.

A real surprise – somewhat unassuming from the outside, but simply unforgettable on the inside. The top drinks and cocktails are highly recommended, unusual and well-mixed, and the sushi 🍣 is second to none: incredibly fresh, a great selection of menu options, top quality, and simply excellent value for money. The tables are well spaced, ensuring there's plenty of room for a relaxed evening with good food.

We went there spontaneously, and it was fantastic. The service is great, everyone is super nice! The clientele is diverse, which makes the restaurant very pleasant. The quality of the food is excellent; we enjoyed every bite. We arrived around 6 p.m., so if you're looking for something "quiet," you'll be disappointed. The restaurant is lively and quite busy. Prices are mid-to-high. Sushi for two people costs an average of €50-60. But it's worth it! We'll be back...

I had the glass noodle salad with tofu, and it was absolutely delicious. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful.

Super disappointing experience. My friend got served a plate that still had pieces of food stuck to it, and when we complained, the replacement plate they brought ALSO had a piece of food stuck to it. The server treated this unprofessionally in my opinion - when she brought us the last plate, she asked us to check whether it was clean ourselves. Very uncomfortable experience for the entire party as we kept questioning the cleanliness of their kitchen afterwards. The food was ok. Would not go back.

Great Sushi. Finally found a good sushi place in Berlin. I had the spicy Tuna which was really good, different than anything I had tasted before. Salmon special was also very nice. The atmosphere and interior space is also very pleasant, and the staff are friendly. I'll definitely go there again.

Everything I tasted was delicious. I strongly recommend Prawn Mentai. The service was fast and friendly with everyone smiling despite a crazy busy Sunday evening.

1987 Xigon, just like many sushi places in Berlin, is not your traditional sushi-only joint. It has a variety of Asian food spanning from Thai, Vietnamese, all the way to nigiri and sashimi. I'm not sure what I was expecting when the name says "Xigon" but at the end of the day, do not expect top notch sushi here. The place is happening. Good atmosphere and interior. Things are bustling. Tables are full. And food is delivered quite fast. You are definitely in a hip place. Unlike the other photos on Google Maps, it is not a huge institution. If you're heading there with friends or a date, you'll have a good time. My only issue is that the sushi itself isn't top notch. It's not fresh by quite a distance. Had I known this, I would've gone for rolls or more "sauce"-oriented concoctions. Unfortunately, I went traditional and was disappointed by the freshness of the fish as well as the quality of the nigiri itself. On the bright side, the dessert was great - Passion Island was delightful. It was going to be a 3-stars at best but the final dessert punched over its weight. Given I shouldn't have expected traditional sushi from a fusion Asian place, upgrading it to 4-stars. Try it out. But don't expect top notch sushi. Not sure about other dishes.

We had made a reservation for 6 people that evening. We were greeted warmly and then given the choice between a table set for 5 or an uncovered table for 6. The restaurant was very busy, but the staff had this under control. The drinks were fine, and the food was excellent in quality and presentation. We had hot tempura tuna rolls for starters – superb. For the main course, we had scallops with shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection. Picture attached. Other guests were also very satisfied. What bothered me a lot, hence the 3 stars for service and 4 stars for the overall rating, was the payment process. Everything was payable on one bill with a card. When paying, the tip was already preset to 15%. That's completely unacceptable. Although you could then adjust the amount between 10 or 20% or another amount, the device was simply held up to the payer without comment to place the card. When I noticed this, I intervened and explained it to the person paying, who then entered the tip manually. This behavior is, to put it mildly, intrusive and certainly not customer-oriented. It's a shame, and be careful, this seems to be becoming more and more widespread.

Xigon 1987 in Berlin is a great spot for Asian cuisine lovers. The restaurant has a stylish, modern vibe with a distinct Asian flair. The dishes are flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. Went her for my brothers birthday. We reserved a table with a note that it was a birthday celebration. Four other tables got a special celebration add on, we didn’t. It took the waiter 30 minutes to wait on us. First he forgot us and we had to ask for the menus. Then we waited another 20 minutes until we could place our order. The same happened when we wanted to pay: took us 10 minutes to geit their attention and another 15 minutes for us to get the bill. Very disappointing, we’ve heard good things about this place. Did definitely not live up to the rumours. A shame that a birthday celebration was experienced this way. Will Not come back and not recommend the place. Which is a shame, the food is great.

In a beautiful, stylish setting, you can enjoy wonderful, authentic food here. The homemade lemonades, as well as the pasta dish and sushi we had, were simply outstanding. I've ordered online several times. My order was forgotten once, and today it happened again. It's a shame because the food is delicious, but they seem to be completely out of it.

The food was delicious overall—but unfortunately not worth the price. The service during our visit was disappointing—we had to ask for attention several times for each order, and the staff seemed inattentive.

The food was a 10/10, really delicious. The price is on the higher side, but you can tell that everything is freshly prepared. The fish was great. What wasn't great, however, was the service. Everyone was really sweet and friendly, but it's unacceptable to be treated as if you were invisible. After our meal, no one came to ask about our food, and our plates sat empty on the table for two hours, if not longer, without being cleared away. I can understand it when it gets busy, but asking and checking is really part of the waiter's job.

It's a shame the food itself is very tasty and of high quality, but the duck teriyaki wasn't good that evening. It was served cold, and the two strips were very small. Okay, we arrived with a group of about 30 people, but we had made reservations. A colleague received a different meal after a two-hour wait. It would have been better to let them know right away that some dishes couldn't be prepared. We would have understood and ordered something else – what a shame.

The food was great, flavorful, spicy as promised and loads of veggies. It was a loud and lively which we weren’t in the mood for but others seemed to enjoy it. Definitely try their ginger tonic lemonade :)

After when we got our cocktails, the server that got us the cocktails didn't even tell us what cocktails is waht . When we got the food it was the same. When we finished at start we wanted desert but again because it took us so long to get service we took a pass and got the bill .

The place for sushi. wow We left shocked. Among the best sushi we have eaten. Fresh raw salmon and red tuna in Ramat, great cocktails (the miol is amazing) and for a couple we took the sushi set for 2 and it was delicious and satisfying. Highly recommended if you are in the area

We had reserved for the 1987 Xigon - but we still had to wait and were ultimately seated in an uncomfortable place. Even then you felt more dismissed than welcomed. The service seemed overwhelmed or simply disinterested - we had to wait forever, both for the food and later for the bill. The food itself was mixed. My girlfriend thought it was “okay”, but I personally was disappointed. My tuna in the sushi had tough, shaggy tendons - which is an absolute disgrace considering the price. The summer rolls were bland and loveless - I would have expected much more. The sushi selection (4x8 pieces) was also not convincing in terms of taste. Paying over €75 for two people – with non-alcoholic cocktails, a starter and sushi – feels like a bad joke under these circumstances. Price-performance ratio is not right here at all. In retrospect, the many good reviews almost seem like they were bought - absolutely incomprehensible after our visit. If you don't believe me, you're welcome to see for yourself - but in hindsight you shouldn't be surprised.

Low quality food for high prices. The taste of food is achieved by using cheap sauces and sugar. Additives are also used to increase appetite. The restaurant staff are not friendly and atmosphere is tense. The bill cannot be paid using Apple Pay because the card machine is very old.

Top delicious food at a reasonable price in a cool atmosphere. They also make delicious cocktails. Only thing that drags down: the waiters tend to forget their guests - not only us, but everyone. BUT rather good quality in the food and wine than the other way around, right :-)

I ordered and waited almost 3 hours for delivery. I've tried calling several times (6 times), but either it's busy or no one answers. I really understand if it's more stressful on a Saturday, but waiting 3 hours for a delivery is really unacceptable

One of my go-to restaurants for Asian cuisine, from Pad Thai and sushi to pho and steak or fish, everyone will find something to suit their taste. The staff has been very attentive and friendly on every visit so far, regardless of the number of visitors. I would always recommend making a reservation for dinner as a precaution. The location is great and the food has been impressive every time. Warmest recommendation!

The food was good but not special. The presentation is appealing. 2 waiters for a full shop were far too few, so the drinks came with the main course. The prices were another 10% higher than stated online. In my opinion, price performance is not in the right place here.

Absolutely reliable, excellent cuisine. During my countless visits, the chefs were able to consistently maintain the quality and taste. You won't find a run-of-the-mill Asian restaurant here - every dish appears well thought out, both in terms of taste and appearance. You can feel that the cooking here is done with attention to detail and passion. When it comes to service, things are a little different - here you just have to be lucky who you get. A reservation is particularly advisable on weekends and in the evenings, but you are often asked to wait another 10 minutes. It can also quickly become very loud, but that doesn't necessarily have to be annoying. Personally, I like to come during the week, be it for lunch or in the early evening when it's a little quieter.

The last shop...couldn't get a seat despite a reservation...the shop was overly full and stuffy air...not recommended...thumbs down
