A very tasty vegan doner kebab with seitan. Vegan or vegetarian doner pizza with seitan is also available. Such a good selection of vegan or vegetarian options is unfortunately far too rare.
We visited the Birtat Restaurant, Hötzelstraße 2 in Augsburg yesterday on the holiday, and we were thrilled!
The warm welcome and pleasant atmosphere immediately put us at ease.
The culinary offerings were excellent – I was particularly impressed by the freshly prepared sea bream with potatoes and salad, beef steak, and meatballs on a plate.
The ingredients seemed high-quality and aromatic, and the portion sizes were generous.
The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive.
Although the restaurant was almost full, our requests were promptly fulfilled and recommendations were given with care.
The value for money is also good: I felt well looked after for the quality and freshness of the food.
Conclusion: If you want to enjoy authentic, tasty dishes in a relaxed atmosphere, the Birtat Restaurant is just the thing.
P.S.: For dessert, I had authentic kunafa (kunafa is a Levantine warm dessert made from special cheese and kadaif).
I would happily go back anytime – and highly recommend it!
I actually really enjoyed coming to eat, but after the portions got smaller and the prices got bigger, and you were always given tea that had never been charged before, and then suddenly? So, it would be appropriate to mention this before forcing service. I think it's very cheeky, especially since it's not just businesses that have to suffer, it's also becoming more and more reasonable for fellow citizens. And with the tea, it's not even about the price, but you can clearly communicate that it is calculated from one day to the next.
All in all, delicious. ✌️ The service was a bit sloppy but very friendly. I thought I was someone who had already eaten. The misunderstanding was quickly resolved. ⭐
An excellent address for a dignified occasion or for a business lunch. Unfortunately, only a few more weeks until the Magnolia is over.
A real loss for Augsburg.
Disappointing visit to the beer garden – a shame about the beautiful ambiance
Our visit to the Reespark Restaurant in the Abraxas Cultural Center was unfortunately a real disappointment. Upon entering the beer garden, we noticed that the staff seemed extremely listless and disinterested. Before we were even seated, newly arriving guests were informed that due to low occupancy, they would be closing at 8:00 PM – it was only early evening (6:00 PM). It's understandable that some of them turned back immediately.
Our table was also dirty with bird droppings, which were neither noticed nor removed. When I ordered a plate of aspic, I received a carelessly presented, ready-made product poured directly from a plastic cup onto my plate. There was no sign of it being freshly prepared.
By 7:40 PM, the beer garden was still full of around 20 people. When we tried to order more drinks, we were told that they had to be finished by 8:00 PM – after all, they were closing. Hospitality isn't the same.
Conclusion: If the newly arrived guests hadn't been treated so discouragingly, the beer garden would have easily been filled by another 15 people. The discontent was also clearly palpable at the other tables.
As nice as the place itself is – with this kind of staff and this attitude, I absolutely don't recommend it.
Enjoy a Turkish Meyhane in Augsburg
This warm and friendly Turkish Meyhane located in the heart of Augsburg is a paradise especially for Meze lovers.
In the kitchen of the venue, the mezes prepared by the talented Chef of the tavern culture, Yiğit Bey, stand out with their rich variety that appeals to every palate.
This is not a place to go just to fill your stomach, because this place is very different from the classical kebab restaurant understanding, influenced by Arabic cuisine. The main purpose is to get together with friends and enjoy delicious mezes accompanied by a pleasant rakı chat.
The venue's music selection is at least as meticulous as its food. A wide range is offered, from the unforgettable melodies of Charles Aznavour to the elegant melodies of Turkish classical music, thus creating a pleasant atmosphere for guests from all walks of life.
This tavern, which we visit frequently as a family and enjoy every time, is definitely recommended for everyone who wants to experience the Turkish tavern culture in Augsburg.
Best regards
