The Holy Doner Man and the Mystery of the Invisible Böregi
Once upon a time, there was a doner shop where everything was perfect. The portions were large, the doner delicious, the world was right. But then… then came the change. Maybe it was the full moon. Maybe a particularly bad head of lettuce. Or simply the moment a snack bar owner decided to embrace divine infallibility.
The order arrived—partially. The salad and sauce were there, but the sigara böregi… well, let's just say they weren't. Maybe they were too small. Maybe they'd been kidnapped by elves. Maybe the holy doner man had simply loaded them directly into his Lamborghini. Whatever the reason, they weren't with me.
Getting in touch? As tough as weekend sucuk. Only on the third attempt did I get a sign of life. And it was something like: "Sorry, next time." Oh, how lovely. So: Spend more money to get what I'd already paid for. Brilliant plan, almost a subscription model.
The order arrived. But it gets even better: When I politely point out that something was missing, I'm accused of lying—in a voice message that, in tone and content, lies somewhere between reality TV and a truly awful job interview for an anti-service award. A minor logical inconsistency included: First, the speaker claims he wasn't even there that day—and then he suddenly knows exactly what I ordered. If that isn't supernatural powers, then I don't know what is.
According to the holy kebab man, the börek were there—I was just too blind to see them. Perhaps they're simply spiritual side dishes. Or maybe they were eaten by angels. In any case: Mistakes? They aren't made here. Never. Because the kebab is good, the owner is infallible, and the customer? He can console himself with the sauce.
This place used to have five stars. Then three. And now? One remains. Perhaps as a sign of divine reappearance. Perhaps as a memorial. Perhaps because, unfortunately, zero stars isn't an option.
If you're truly hungry, craving some friendliness and a bit of reality, I recommend Dogan in Nußloch. They serve generous portions, serve real people, and offer no divine arrogance.
In short: If you're looking for fun, go to a cabaret. If you're looking for a doner kebab, move on. Because here, there's plenty of hot air – but unfortunately, very little börek.
Edit: The owner claims we didn't correspond. A glance at the attached screenshot should clear up his confusion.
For us, this is the best pizzeria in the area. We especially recommend the grilled squid on vegetables, as pictured, or on a salad. A true culinary delight!
Stylish café with friendly, attentive service. A breakfast buffet for €20 without at least one specialty coffee or tea is quite steep. No (flavored) water, no juices, no tea, not even filter coffee included. So, including tip, we paid €30 for the breakfast buffet, which included one delicious latte macchiato (Braun coffee from an espresso machine) and 0.5 liters of still water (tap water?). I couldn't get my money's worth from the buffet, which offered a good and tasty selection of food. We often go to a hotel in the Spessart region where the buffet costs €25 and EVERYTHING is included (all specialty coffees – okay, from a fully automatic machine, but it tastes good – two juices, sparkling wine, water – also flavored). For me, the price-performance ratio here isn't quite right. Everything tasted good, though! The three of us were quite cramped at the small table, as you normally fill several plates plus a bread basket at a buffet. The freshly prepared fried and scrambled egg portions consisted of one egg on a saucer (the scrambled egg looked very meager on the small plate; without herbs or other garnish – it could have been presented more attractively).
I went here for dinner with friends and it was a culinary delight.
My "Lisa's Mixed Grill" was excellent.
The portions are generous, and the service is friendly.
The restaurant is spacious, modern, and flooded with natural light.
Accessible parking spaces are available, and the entrances are barrier-free.
The entire area is well-maintained.
Part of the terrace is covered, and the other part is equipped with parasols.
Dogs are welcome in the outdoor area, where a water bowl is also provided.
All in all, a very good choice,
which is why I'm giving it 5 stars.
Food: Great
Service: The cruets on the tables were missing or not refilled.
What I didn't like at all: The chef didn't wash his hands after smoking and didn't prepare the food. Disgusting.
We had a unique buffet for 45 people. There was something for everyone, young and old, and the consultation beforehand was excellent and very helpful!
The food arrived on time and was set up quickly. The quality of the food was very good. There was even enough food to feed more people.
Overall, a wonderful experience with the buffet.
We will definitely use this service again for our next celebration!
We had a lovely and delicious evening at Dobler's. The food was excellent and the service very friendly and attentive. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
A true hidden gem in Zwickau! The Pölbitz Vault impresses with its unique, cozy atmosphere and meticulous attention to detail. The service is incredibly friendly, attentive, and warm, making you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The food and drink selection is also high-quality and carefully curated. Perfect for a relaxing stay in a special setting – we'll definitely be back!
I highly recommend Pizzeria Corona. The food is always freshly prepared, the ingredients are high-quality, and the taste is simply delicious. You can tell that they cook with love. The team is also exceptionally friendly and attentive. I always look forward to coming back!
